my phone overheating then stop working - Zuk Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I forgot my ZUK Z1 in my car for one hour
battery was 7%,After that I plug it on charger but the phone do not accept any charger
and the phone power off,I try to leave it for day then I try again
still power off
what do you think ?
battery damage or some thing else
and so sorry for my bad english

tried different cable and charger?
tried for example to get into recovery?
everything ok with the usb c connector?
if everything seems to be ok i would contact your shop where you bought it ...
if its not within warranty, i would open the back cover and watch the connectors of the battery. in a german forum someone dropped his phone and immediatly the battery was low and then he couldnt power it on anymore. to me .. it seems like theres some kind of connector loose.
but thats just a guess...

Hi.. iv noticed an issue on receiving MMS messages.. for some reason as soon as I receive an MMS the phone starts overheating and it shows a message saying "APN Error..." so i have to immediately delete the MMS message and close the SMS app otherwise it will drain down the battery and overheat..
I suspect there is a APN issue in CM12.1 so im hoping this will be resolved in CM13

XDA 2 Say Always Charging

http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=8348&highlight=always+charging
I have a same problem before. But im update my device rom to 1.72.00 (Imate Rom) (Before my device have a 1.72.00 T-Mobile Rom) that problem is gone until my charge going %15. After that not blinkin Orange light is coming (thats normal for charge is about 10-15% but) also Setting > Power say charging and My XDA think its charging. Im not plug in my device anywhere (Cradle, Power Charge, USB Sync) but its always thing charging and charge is faster dropping to zero.
I dont understand anythig about that. After that i plug in my USB sync in my notebook and recharge it. After my battery full (100%) im unplug the sync cable from my device and nothing change. Its still say charging
After this i decided (i dont know why i think about that. please dont ask ) i plug in USB sync cable and plug out on my PC (Cable still plugged in on my XDA 2) and device gone normal. And unplug sync cable from my device. Orange light is gone and Settings > Power say Battery Mode.
Is there anythig wrong that. I think this is totaly software error bu i dont know.
Thank you for your advice.
My case was different. No matter what I did, the device ALWAYS thought it was in charging mode. I sent it to the repair centre twice and the device gone back to the problem again after a while. They said the connector pin has been in short circuit and so it thought it was charging. They also accused me of damaging it. I asked them why it would be so when I use it normally, the staff said 'Machine is like that, nobody can gurantee'. I was angry and sent several rude mails to O2. Upon some negotiation, they changed a completely brand new model to me and the problem did not happen anymore. I have used this new one for several months in exactly the same way I did with the old one and nothing untoward happen. That proved the old one was not damaged by me!
Sorry for being long-winded and yet could not solve your problem.
Anyone can help?
My device still have a that problem.
Im looking lights now and its some time say charging and some times not.
Please help
Thank you
always charging
i still have same problem :!:
anyone? help?
omg, this is exactly what my problem is. My XDAII always thinks that it is charging even though it is not plugged to the charger nor the usb sync cradle. And the amber LED light is steadily lighted like when you are charging, battery life of the XDA has dramatically gone down, it wont last me 3 hours or so and yet it is still on standby mode. I had reflashed it with the latest ROm available, 2.06WWE i think, and still after that, after the cold reboot, the problem was still there. Anyone has a better solution to that? Im planning on returning my unit for servicing if the problem cant be solved.
i have same problem , help me now
This will be less likely to happen when using usb cable rather than cradle. If you get a magifying glass you may be able to see the short on the pins and possibly nudge it back into position with a very thin sewing needle or similar.
up
i have exactly this problem too (
I´ve the same problem since yesterday with my T-Mobile MDA², it´s Rom Version: 1.72.01GER (6 months in use without problems), Rom Date 03/16/04, Radio 1.17.00, Protocol 1337.28, ExtRom 1.72.170
The yellow light is always on and the batterie runs very fast out of energy (1-2 hours) and it´s always says charging and think it´s connected to AC power...
any fix to this problem?
or what happen now to those who have this problem?
I have this problems too!!! How to fix it?

Battery Won't Charge

hey, i got the leo just over two weeks ago, and swapped my orange sim for my o2 sim (my phone is unlocked) yesterday night. This morning the phone did not charge at all and i still cannot get it to charge, i have tried via the wall plug and plugging into my PC. At the top of the phone there is a green LED flash and then an orange one.
Any ideas as to why it wont charge, im still under guarentee so if its any problems with the battery etc. i am sure i can get it replaced, Thanks in advance.
i've tried taking out the SIM then turned it on and off, that didn't work. I then tried the same but with the SanDisk card. Still no hope.
Hi, sorry to here about your troubles but it is nothing I haven't seen before. Hope this helps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=610330
Try to release all the energy of the battery, then plug the usb cable to computer, us your PC to charge it.If it dosen't work, congrats then, you are in the same situation as me,
-order a new battery replacement see if it's sloved, if not, send it to HTC for repair.
btw, just curious, are you in Canada as well...?
hi i have the same problem solution is simple you just bend middle pin that connect battery bend it down a little and it should works
Thanks mmpl, I am gonna try that, I wish that may solve my battery drain problem as well.
nah im not Canadian, from the UK. The place i bought it from said i could send it to them and they can check it, if they can't fix it they'll send a new one to me
WOW! amazingly, i had no hope in it. But i did play around with the middle pin just a slight tap backwards and then *forced* the usb into my phone and computer, it switched on switched off i unplugged my phone is did a white screen flash, but it is now holding the solid orange LED of life! i can't understand what on earth was wrong, and it could still not charge but the LED seems to be correct!
Unfortunately i am now experiencing this with a replacement battery from China. It flashes green and orange when plugged in and won't charge. Original battery works normal. Well... back to seller.
Problem Fixed!
Thanks mmpl. The middle prong on the HD2 that connects the battery was pointing slightly up from horizontal (and it looks different than the two prongs and seems a little limp/loose); I pushed it down a little so it's just slightly down from horizontal; put the battery in and that fixed it! Thank you for posting the solution!!!
My symptoms were that the battery indicator icon in the title bar would switch to full bars when plugged in (did not show the plug icon in the title bar as it should have), but when I click on the battery indicator icon the sub screen (showing the battery) would show the actual state of the battery, e.g., 30% with one bar.
I've been also having freeze-up problems when dialing out, thereby requiring a re-boot (take the battery out or push the reset pin) once or twice every day (I'm on the phone a lot however), and maybe the daily removal/re-install of the battery weakened the prong.

Hi, I also have purchased a cheap replacement battery from China as a backup for my Samsung i500. I cannot charge this battery in the phone! I get a pop window when I connect my charging cable that states; "battery is not connected"! The stock original Samsung OEM battery charges in the phone just fine.
I wonder what the problem is?

Thanks mmpl, I had not even considered the pin until I read your post.
I know this is the wrong thread for xperia ray, but I just wanted to say that this is something that could happen to absolutely every phone. The middle pin on my ray was stuck in, so far in that it would not connect properly to the battery. By getting a sewing needle in and tinkering it back out it now connects and charges properly.
Also, I hear that if you have flashed your phone you may need to re-calibrate it. If your phone is rooted, you can do this with the aptly named app called BatteryCalibration. Worth considering I think.

CHARGING ISSUE - shouldi be worried?

I bought a second hand HD2, however it arrived with a third-party chinese battery. I contacted the seller who apologised and said that battery was a replacement because the original didn't hold a good charge, and he would send the original through the post. The battery however was fully charged so I flashed all the neccessary files and installed NAND Android (my reason for buying it in the first place), however today - the same day it arrived - I noticed that the orange charge light was going off, usually when the phone screen went off. This necessitated plugging the USB lead back in again, and within sometimes less than a minute the same problem would occur. I have checked the battery prongs, reset the the phone, changed USB settings etc and the problem persists.
Just wondered of I should be worried...I am unable to find an identical problem to this on the forums so I'm assuming it's not a ROM issue. I am currently using the Desire port from DFT.
Would a cheap Chinese battery demonstrate this sort of problem?
The seller says he never had an issue of charging the phone.
My next resort is to flash Windows Mobile back on, but I'm at work and a bit anxious so was hoping for someone with some experience to reassure me!
All USB syncing etc works fine...it is literally just charging that's the issue.
Maybe it's your USB that's faulty. I had a faulty usb that would go on and off sometimes too. However I don't see why the battery would affect the LED light, as the battery has to be connected to the phone for it to stay on, and so the battery can't be losing it's connection with the phone randomly, so it's either your usb cord, or the port.
Word of advice, don't let your phone lose power cuz of the faulty charging. I assume you know that MAGLDR doesn't let you charge the phone while off, so a dead battery in our case, is a dead phone. Happened to me once cuz of my usb, luckily there was still a small amount of charge left after i took the battery out and placed it back in.
It's definitely not the cable as I've used an official HTC charger with it which does exactly the same thing. I've also tried with a Samsung MicroUSB charger from my Galaxy S
Maybe it's the usb port then... That's the worst case scenario because you'd have to get the whole motherboard replaced...
However if in winmo you don't experience the problems, then it was just some software problems, so try a different radio and build, and see if they work.
Edit:
Or maybe it's the LED that's faulty. (never heard of such a situation but anything is possible) >.>
Does it still charge even if the LED is not orange/on?
Thing is though I can pretty much get it to stay charging if I don't let it lock and the screen go off? Could this still be a problem with the USB port? I'm getting worried now as I don't like the hassle of sending things back through eBay. I'm wondering if the seller bought a spare battery thinking it was just a battery problem and isn't telling the whole story. Foolishly I didn't test the device with Windows Mobile, I just went straight into flashing as I had put Android on my friend's HD2 the other day in exactly the same way...his is even an ex Virgin Mobile phone like this one. Needless to say, he is having no charging issues.
Dude dont worry , the problem is the battery ! i got two chinese battery ones and both cant charge with the phone, i have to use eksternal charger Dont worry the red and orange led flashes constantly when i try to charge it
Just buy a cheap charger from ebay , and buy a oem htc hd2 battery
Hi thanks for your reply. Mine doesn't flash red and orange though: the orange light comes on as normal and the phone reports it as charging, but after a while (seems to be when the phone goes to standby most of the time) the orange light turns off and the charging symbol disappears. If I unplug and replug again the light comes back on for a period. I've not tested thoroughly but I THINK it will stay charging when I leave the phone out of standby with the screen set to stay on for 30 minutes. I really HOPE it's a battery issue but it sounds slightly different to yours as mine does at least charge to a degree. I'm worried there's a blown capacitor somewhere on the logic board that's making the phone charge malfunction but obviously there's no way of testing until I get a new battery.
It concerns me that the seller said he had no charging problems...he must have been able to charge it somehow as the battery was full when it arrived...could I have burnt something out when flashing?!
Mine do charge to about 50 % and then it stops
Im 100 % sure its the battery becouse the battery has a circuitboard inside of it, and thats often messed up considering its made cheap in china . But test it with your friends hd2 original battery You can 2 see if the wet indicatior has been activated
the " white " paper next to the battery poles should be white and not pink, alltso where the skrewholes of the phone that should allso be white just to make sure your phone is not waterdamaget
I don't think flashing could have burnt something out. Overclocking and generating a lot of heat can burn something out though.
Didn't you receive the stock battery? Why not try it with that, and if the problem stilll persists then it might not be the battery. Either way, it will help you to test out the phone with a stock battery.
I tried it again after a few hours and it charged for a fair while before the light went off again.
I don't have the original battery as the seller has yet to mail it to me.
Does anyone else think it's worth me trying out a stock Windows Mobile ROM to see if it works? Might be that Android ROMs are less forgiving of cheap batteries with dodgy circuitry..
UPDATE
Ok so I've flashed Windows Mobile onto the device and wiped Magldr. The phone now alternates between a green and an amber light on the charging indicator. Looks like Windows Mobile won't charge it at all!
Does anyone know what this means?
I've checked for water damage in the areas mentioned and there is no sign.
Well your best bet is to send it in for repairs. But I'd suggest you test the phone out first with a stock battery.
Well I Only bought the phone yesterday so I certainly won't be paying for any repairs.
Got a replacement battery today - a genuine HTC one.
Plugged in, switched on....flashing between amber and green
I have a nagging suspicion this is going to be an eBay refund nightmare.
have you checked that the pins on the phone is not bendt? pins where battery poles connect to phone
problem solved? fingers crossed
OK so as a last resort I flashed radio 2.15 to the device. Seems that this has completely fixed the problem as without even restoring the phone is now charging properly. It seems that a corrupted radio flash had affected the charge somehow....at least I hope so.
The same problem has not come back again today at all.
Might be worth throwing this solution in a problems and solutions section as I haven't found any reference to it on the net and it might fix things for others panicking over their handsets.
That's nice.
Good for you, since it's a hassle to deal with sending back the device and shizz like that.
was just searching is anyone had a similar problem like me. to the OP yours sounds like my problem.
Had these fake OEM batteries for a while now. Until recently they have been charging ang turning off in 1 1/2 minutes. put a genuine OEM battery in and the problem is gone.
My solution was OEM can charge thru phone but fakes cant, use fakes as backup and charge it thru a desktop charger. goodluck

HD2 dead?

Hello,
please help me with an advice: since today afternoon, my HD2 (European type) looks dead... I have an Android NAND ROM (with sense, I think from CM7 series, but I don't remember anymore, cause it worked perfectly since a few months). Suddendly, as I wanted to recharge the battery today afternoon, I've observed that the LED indicating the charging is not on! As I've tried to turn it on (wake up), nothing happened, black screen, no LED, no buttons light. I have put out the battery and back in, tried a reset (red small button near the battery), but it simply don't want to turn on! I have checked the charger with another HD2 from a friend and the charger is ok... What can I do about it? I have really no idea what's going on , cause there is no reason for such a behaviour (like bad flashing trial or similar).
Thank you in advance for every help!
Conrad
...nobody?
I want to add that if I connect it with my pc through the usb cable, nothing happens as well... and my pc won't recognize it (no reaction at all)...
Please, nobody else had such problems?
Your friend has hd2? Try their battery, if it works your battery is flat (can't charge when off when magldr installed)
If the other battery doesn't work check battery pins carefully.
Thanks for your reply, samsamuel.
I have already tried to use other battery, but it doesn't change anything. What do you mean with "checking pins"? The battery contacts, on the battery and on phone are looking very good (the phone is only about 7 months old)...
Sometimes one of the three little pegs on the phone that the battery presses against gets bent.
What about your battery in friends phone?
Other than flat battery or bent pins I can't think of anything else except something serious blew on the mainboard.
The battery works well in my friend's phone (has about 48% capacity). I have also tried his battery in my phone, with no success.
How can occure such a major hardware problem, without any reason?
Sorry, no clue. Random hardware failure? Crash causing hang and overheat? Someone messing with it whilst out of the room? Power surge? Got warranty?

[Q] Weird battery/charge problem

Recently my Omnia 7 has a problem with charging and extremly quick battery degradation.
After charging the battery the battery icon keeps showing the charge icon.
When the battery is at 50% a constant alarm is ringing and the battery discharges itself very fast.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOz-jORsJVk
Maybe it's the battery but why does the battery icon stays on charging?
Hello,
I've got the EXACT same issue!! My Omnia 7 starts to beep and chime at 50% and won't shut up! And the battery starts to drain really fast..this all started happening after the last update I did..and now my computer won't even recognize the phone it just shows up as unknown device and I can't do any further updates.
I went back from OS:7.10.7740.16 to OS:7.10.7720.68
That did not solve the problem.
Bought new battery but the phone shuts down after 20 seconds with the new battery...
(on or off charger)
chicagodesi786 is your battery icon also indicating charging all the time?
I think it's a hardware problem. (probably the USB cable socket)
Whilst this hasn't happened to me...
My sister's Omnia 7 has done this. Although a battery pull shut it up for her and it's been ok since.
Hello,
I've done the battery pull trick, but it still does it from time to time.
I think it's the USB cable socket.
I lost connection to zune and fiddeling with the cable made the phone connect again.
I send the phone back to Germany for repair.
Will post the outcome here.
Problem solved
It's an electrical interference at your micro-usb. What you need to do is to separate the metal part in the center from the metal part at the outside of the usb port. I used a small screwdriver to force it!
Wow Quadcore it seems that you are right! +1
I send the Omnia to Germany (w-support.com) for repair and they refused to repair because of "water damage" .
Totally bogus, I never exposed my Omnia to any liquid. ("waterdamage sticker" = a oke)
TIP: make sure you take a picture of your "water damage sticker" before sending your phone in for repair!
Just today I read your reply and seperated the 2 sides of the USB socket.
Omnia is working without beep beep or extreem battery drain.
I did send samsung.de an email to demand fixing or replacing my Omnia.
The problem is still there.
Bending the usb port helps for a while but the problem returns.
not sure if helps:

I'm trying it right now.
Did not work Omnia started beeping when i took it off the charger.
Finally the Omnia is back from repair.
Motherboard is replaced.
Because of that my back-ups can't be restored.
All works fine now except I can't install update 7740.
I get the 80180048 error.
All the phone information is the the same only the Radio hardware version changed from 0.0.0.2 to 0.0.0.1
