Hello Everyone!
Long time now, i have an issue with the Touchscreen of my MB526. From time to time it generates random clicks ... if i then send it to standby and wake it up, everything is fine again. I thought it may be a hardware-problem or a problem with the custom roms around, but when i posted this issue today on the Defy-Facebook-Group, i found someone with the same issue on the stock unrooted 231 Rom (BL7). The Same BL as mine ...
So may be, that there is an unidentified bug in our mobiles? may be some driver problem? Or is it an hardware-issue like the speaker of the MB525, that affects more users?
Maybe some of the Rom-Devs could try to find something related to the Wake-Up precedure what resets the touchscreen and clears this issue?
We need some help here ...
EDIT: There is now one more on the Facebook-Group with the same issue but on a MB525 ... so it's Defy in general and not only Defy+ ...
The same problem here
First of all thanks for addressing this problem. I thought i was the only one.
Ok so I'm currently on W.R.1.7, Defy mb525
And i experience the same problem. random touches and to reset it i have to lock my screen and switch it on again.
I haven't (and wont do till 5 more months) tried this on other roms. but it always starts after 1 week of installing wr 1.7.
I flashed the rom again thinking that it will solve the problems (this and batterry drops) it did but after a week it was back!
:crying:
Had that just today, for the first time.
Was playing Hill Climb Racing, when suddenly the gas pedal (on screen touch area) got stuck, then flickered irregularily 3 or 4 times a second for like 15 seconds. My defy didn't register the back button or the home button during that time. Switching off and on helped. It happened again like a minute later, but not as long. Didn't happen again since then, but if it does in another app I'll report back.
There is no demo function in Hill Climb Racer as far as I know, so the pressed gas pedal could only have originated from the touchsceen / driver side, not from faulty code in the game.
My Defy, MB525 (Green), has 2 years old and I have this issue since always, I didn´t use my warranty because I've rooted since i bought it, but just happens sometimes (the same issue on stock 2.1, stock 2.2, MIUI, CM7, CM9, CM10...).
OK, so this themes to be an issue that affects more than just a few users ...
there was a guy in the facebook group, that reported, that he had this issue to, but it stoped since he used a screen protector ... so this may solve this issue ... but i think this is not all ... The screen is (for sure) not designed to be only useable with an screen protector
and because of the Lockscreen / Wake up solve, this is not happening due to dirt on the display or something i think ...
would be nice, if some dev could answer this post, so we would know, that we are not alone and may maybe get some help in some time ...
@ MadMooney ... i also found this annoying in Hill Climb Racing It's exactly the gas-Pedal that is "locked" then .. bit it happend in other apps (by writing an sms fpr example) to ... so it may be some fingerpoint that we both have exactly the same issue with the same game and the same affected screen area ...

Even i use a screen protector (Amzer one) but that doesn't help in solving the ghostly touch problem..
Its definitely a software issue

I have the same problem with mine, i thought it was because since 6 months back i totally cracked my screen and havent changed it because it still works as it should except looking terrible. What i have noticed thou is that i can absolutely not use my phone while charging it because that will to a 100% result in my screen going wild
I am also facing this issue. I mildly heat the screen using heater the problem solve for one or two weeks then It again appear. I found another thing that this issue may solve if press the right side of speaker hardly. Please try these and report

Same here. It happens when my screen is a bit oily so if I clean it it doesn't do it anymore.
Happens to me too, exactly as OP said, Bayer MB525
Happend with CM7.2 and CM10, I don't remember having this in stock Froyo 2.2.1
EDIT: Things that make it happens more often:
1. Any kind of liquid over screen (mainly water)
2. While connected to an USB
WOW ... such a mass of users with the same issue ... and no one ever told that before?!
OK, so we are facing an big issue with all roms and all kinds of devices / displays ... so maybe it is a driver problem, beacause it is solved if you turn screen of and wake up again ...
the issue with the charger is named here too ... i also had this problem ... with low battery and charger the screen reacts like an resistive touchscreen, not like an capacitive ... maybe these are all the same issue ...
No dev here, that can pick this thing up and have a look at it?

Then let me add that right when it happend, i saw a tiny sweat droplet on the screen. I wiped it away instantly, but the effect stayed for another couple of seconds. Might really be that the touchscreen/driver-combo gets temporarily overloaded from the continuously moist spot.
I had that effect on other phones too, always capacitive screens. If that's all there is to it, there's probably not much we can do about it to solve it other than to make the driver less sensitive, but that would be a bad thing, if you ask me. I like that it reacts at the lightest touch.
Yeah, it reacts fine. But the idea of overload is nice ... Maybe it could be solved by setting up the Multi-Touch-Points to 5 e.g. ???
I think we need an update zip from our great developers to reduce the sensitivity of our touch screen especially for those who realy suffering due to this defect. We can find lot of topics regarding this issue in various headings like !My phone become crazy, touch screen malfunction etc! In QA section
Sent from my MB526 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah, for sure .. but if there is no dev reading this posts, there won't be any zips ...
and with the xda-board-rules you can't open a thread for that in the Dev-Section -.-
So ... we will be alone thanks to the admins and the board rules, cause no dev will read the Q&A Section ...
My phone Defy+:
I had this issue on cm7.2 tried following solution but none of them works.
1) Changed to cm10 thought it might be Rom issue but no i have ghost touch on cm10 too.
2) I applied screen guard to see if it wrks but not it does not wrk i still have ghost touch.
P.S. While charging the phone GT disappears.
Try to heat ur touch screen lightly using a hair drier

Hello guys !!
My Nexus 4 started acting weird all of a sudden . I don't remember dropping it down . I tried searching for troubleshooting videos but i didnt figure any having the exact problem as mine. The problem is display - digitizer based , but wanted some help from the seniors .
1) Bottom half of the screen does not respond to touch . This way i am not able to unlock the pattern. Initially it was just the soft keys which wouldnt work . So i disabled the soft keys and installed a LMT launcher , since the bottom dead space didn't really hurt touch usage. Now the dead area has spread upwards .Now this makes me wonder , the screen hasn't broken . The dead area is spreading like a disease.
Attached an amateur clip for ur assistance.
watch?v=GE6cr1qjSPA
2) Lot of ghost touches if u can call it that. the screen keeps scrolling and touches and random spots automatically .
Clip attached watch?v=SGXFwzFNfuk
what do u guys think the problem is .

Seems like a hardware problem. I suggest you RMA it if you can.
some doubts for rma
I live in India . The phone is bought from USA !
Will i need the bill before i send it ?
The bootloader is unlocked !! will it be a problem ! It has to be in warranty right .

unroot, flash back stock rom and relock the bootloader.
If you paid cash. Not getting RMA without warranty papers and or depends on your protection plan if you even have one. Its safer to send back unrooted. But I do believe your mapping and touch sensors are fried via digitizer.

Guys after installing CloudyG3 ROM about a week ago, everything was fine but suddenly from last 3 days the lower portion of mobiles touch malfunctions.
Like when i try to swipe a webpage in the browser from down to up, the page goes up a little and then opens the link which was at the place i started swiping.
So basically a any swiping in the lower section of my display acts as a swipe and a automatic "press".
I am not sure if its a hardware issue or software, but really hope its a issue with eh software.
Please help brother
Thanks

I really doubt it an issue with the ROM. Look around the forums for the info to update the touch firmware for knock on issues. Even though you aren't having a kick on problem that may fix it. Another option would be to take it back to stock using the kdz or tot file depending on your variant and see if that fixes it.
Fix or not

Unfortunately its not a software issue. Its a hardware issue. Its probably present in almost all LG G2 devices. For some it shows up very soon for others its shows up a very later period of usage.
I had to completely replace my display as it is an issue with the touch sensor, and I dont know if its available separately, but atleast in my country its not available separately and so I had to change the whole display.
I costed me around $120.

poor you!
In facts, many people in Viet Nam got touchscreen issue like you
Hey y'all,
Picked up a SM-N935L a few weeks ago. Last week, for no reason I can think of, the touchscreen started causing problems.
As of now, a 1 inch swath of the screen on left side doesn't respond to touches unless they are long touches. This is annoying on the homescreen, but IMPOSSIBLE when trying to type on the keyboard as the number key, shift, A, Q, and 1 key barely ever respond to touch.
AT first it was intermittent. Now it's permanent.
The S-Pen works perfectly, even in the affected area of the screen.
I tried flashing the original firmware the phone came with before the OTA, no dice.
Long story short, the phone is now back in it's box and I am back to my old n9005 Note 3.
Has anyone else run into this?
Before someone says that maybe the screen connector is loose on the motherboard, I cracked the phone open (heatgun, etc) and checked that. Not the issue.
I even tried the secret code *#6233*# which allows you to "update" the touchscreen firmware. No difference.
Any thoughts?
you didn't mention the software version you're using.... did you update to the latest OTA for the L version of the Note FE? Google Translation change log

My bad for.not being specific. Yes I am on QG6. I went back to QFE hoping for a change. No difference.

Try *#2663#, which will update the TS firmware. Used this recently to correct a touch screen reversal (which was a weird experience at first).

Sorry. That's the code I used, not 2633. It didn't help at all.
Have you installed any apps that control screen brightness, remove the brightness slider from quick settings? If yes, uninstall and see if that fixes the issue.
Very late to the party but I'm having the same issue. Tried everything and no luck. The left side of screen not responding unless I use the pen. Stock OS no extra apps installed. Gutted.
I also have this problem..after one month use..right side screen doesnt respon..
Im runing on ARA1 firmware
hi pro, did you fix it, i have same issue
I had the right edge screen problem too. You can use *#0*# to test. Select touch to start the test.
Press 'volume up' button once done.
My problem on the right side and only not responsive to touch only. S pen works fine though.
I went to samsung and they said they had replaced the screen. And it works ! So guys, maybe it's really a hardware problem with the display screen.
Now after 2 month, the problem had resurfaced
I really like this phone and my note 4 previously was great and not having any hard problem.
I'm going to send this again to samsung for repair since it's still under warranty. Hope the problem will diasppear and not repeating again once we warranty expires.
Hello, i am having the same problem. It started about a week ago when the left side of my phone became unresponsive to touch. I have to long press the left side of the screen to register my touch. I tried the "Touch" test at *#0*# and the left side cant be touched. Now the lower and right side of the screen became unresponsive too. Anyone knows how to fix? Using Android 8.0.0 on this Samsung Galaxy note FE
exactly happen to me too...
went to samsung center and replace the screen, under warranty
Same Here
Hi
the same issue started happening to my Note FE yesterday.
have you found a way to fix it? or have you returned the product?
BAD NEWS everyone
Hey y'all,
So I have bad news for you.
The problem is hardware not software. I ended up giving my dad the phone when he went on a business trip to Hong Kong. He's got a guy there that owes me a favor or two so he got the screen replaced. That fixed it immediately.
Sorry for not updating you guys. I ended up just picking up a brand new Note8 back in Nov when I had enough of the touchscreen thing. When my dad finally brought me the FE back with the new screen it worked perfectly.
No software changes at all. Just replaced the screen.
Hi !I am having the same problem here with the right side of the screen.
First it started when the right side started to be less sensitive but then after a while it suddenly stopped working for the touch. The S Pen works ok.
Its really terrible to use it like this. At least if there was an option to squeeze the screen. Where did you guys bought the phone? I am in Europe but i think the company imported it from Saudi Arabia. Dont know if its a regional issue but i am courious. I tried clearing the cache and updating the touch but no difference. Haven`t tried factory reset yet....

hi what is your update about your screen problem ? and for how long did you use your note fe before this problem appeared? maybe you dropped it or something?
Hi. I'm having the same issue. I'm in Saudi so maybe it's a region thing?
Right side not working with touch but only for the s-pen. Also now the s-pen or finger has wrong touches in the screen.

I have been using it for about 3 months before it first started to lose its sensitivity and then to not function at all on a 1 cm wide area on the right side. I havent dropped it for this to be an issue and since i already seen other people complaining its definately a manufacturing issue. I have sent it to the service and hope to have an answer and i will update here about it.

Hello, do you know if your phone was imported from Saudi Arabia? It might be a problem with the phones for this market.
Thanks all for your reply. Really its very scary, just brought a new one from Saudi Arabia, where made in Vietnam. Sometimes I feel some lag with back button . But I dont think its common defect, I heard about same problem in Note 8. Those screen curves brought troubles to all of us ,
I installed tempered glass screen protector but it didn't cover the whole screen , anyway I preferred it rather than the normal elastic one.
Exactly the same issue on my FE
Nope. It happened to me as well just this morning. It is exactly as you've described. I did a factory reset but the issue still persists.
Hi everyone.
I just got Pie update on my J7 NXT 2017, everything was going fine but after completion of update touch screen of my phone stopped working.
After watching many videos on YouTube i was able to downgrade my phone & touch started working again.
I've replaced my display once, many people posted on google regarding this issue on Chinese displays.
One UI really looks pleasant, is there any way to make my screen work with Android pie ?
Thank you.
Unfortunately theres no way to make it work, unless if you have luck to replace again with the original or a fake that does work
Hy Me too, i use lcd part 3rd not original
My device j7 core iam from indonesia iam rollback to android oreo 8.1
If i update to 9 (pie) touchscreen R.I.P not function
So xda please help me fix i want update to pie because iam interested darkmode fiture
Thanks.
Forget the Android Update 9 pin Because many of the roms Is not compatible with the possibility of non-original screen If you want to change the screen to original or Try This TUR-J730FXWS4BSD1-20190415124120 ROM 8 If it does not work, Insha'Allah will work with you screen
I have a j7 Core and same thing happened to me yesterday. Now I also have a replaced Lcd. Is this because of it alone? Does this not happen with people with original LCD's?

That won't happen with original amoled panels because Samsung does OEM display check.
