Hi,
If my country region's firmware PDA & CSC number matches another region's PDA & CSC, it it safe to flash that firmware from the other region?
XFA and XSG have same PDA & CSC numbers for instance?
What is the use of the other .tar files in the firmware downloads?

You only have to modify the HOME_CSC and everything will stay the same. Follow the instructions on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/official-stock-firmware-update-odin-t3335065

Thanks for the reply, but I don't get what that post is about... Please explain...
From what I gather, I always have to flash ALL the .tar files and not only the AP. Most threads tell you to only flash the AP .tar...
PS: My country's firmware (XFA) is still on G935FXXU1APB4 but the one I want to flash is G935FXXU1APD1 (XSG)...
What is the difference between the CSC and the HOME_CSC .tar files? Which ones do I flash with Odin? Please help....

If you have only one big .tar file combined, you normally use AP to flash but on s7/s7 edge most stock ROMS come with multiple files you then have to flash all as explain on the thread instructions
Note: If your HOME_CSC is not listed use Cygwin to modify as in the thread

Why can't I just flash the HOME_CSC that come with my own region's .tar file pack? What does CYGWIN do to it? What about the HOME_CSC that come with the other region's .tar? Do I just disregards it completely?

You can flash your HOME_CSC that come with my own region but it will wipe all data and you have to start all over. Cygwin is Linux-like environment for Windows operating systems and what it does in this case is used to modify HOME_CSC so as to keep all your data intact after flashing. Read the instruction very carefully before proceeding.

Thanks. I prefer doing full wipes when flashing ROMs. So CYGWIN is unnecessary for me. I DO STILL need to flash my own HOME_CSC with the other ROM right? What will happen if I flash the other ROM's HOME_CSC?

Ok then I think you can use your region's HOME_CSC or if you don't care about changing your csc just flash the current rom after download.

There are single-CSC firmware and also multi-CSC firmware available. Instead of adding the CSC yourself, you can choose the appropriate firmware (that contains the CSC you want) to flash. I see there is no reason to add an CSC manually.
If you still want to add CSC, we will discuss further...

#1 Root your phone
for s5 I prefer towerroot as the knox counter is not flagged
#2 install SuperSU
Premade MODS
OPTIONAL install xposed installer for premade mods not all work depending
my phone G900W8 does not use feature.xml for CSC info like G900F
#3 Simplest way is to buy a decent file browser FX with root addon (I personnaly USE)
or use ES (Free) think it works
edit the CSC file by remounting the file system as writable and a file editor right on your phone. REBOOT for results!
*** recommend you backup the CSC files before modification,
@vndnguyen @learning1
I Saw in other forum how to flash on Rom with (signal-csc) other Roms with other csc (multi -csc) without ROOT!
no all ways this app will work with Signal-csc:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.manniakk.cscselector&feature
the error in odin was:
<ID:0/003> cache.img.ext4
<ID:0/003> hidden.img.ext4
<ID:0/003> FAIL! (Ext4)
-My friend try this way in Section 2 (after it fail in the first time)
he extract the with 7zip the file" MODEM.BIN" from the rom with multi-csc and flash with odin in CP with the device in Download mode.
Tricks for Changing CSC Code While Flashing the Stock Firmware:
Sometimes when you just flashed the stock firmware it will not change the CSC code in jut one way around.
The below method might help to obtain the CSC file you want.
Make sure to recharge your phone before anything else.
Fully back-up all important data stored from your phone. You may use Kies 3 to back up and restore or through your Google and Samsung account.
1. Run and configure Odin. Do not check “Re-Partition” and “Auto Reboot” check boxes.
2. Load the stock firmware in the PDA button.
3. Set the phone in download mode (Volume Down+Home+Power button). Then connect the phone in your computer.
4. Hit the “Start” button and then wait.
5. Once the flashing successfully completed. Do not let it reboot into the normal mode.
6. Reboot into recovery mode (Volume Up+Home+Power button).
7. See if it’s applying the CSC file then wait until it finishes and reboot.
8. If you do not see the CSC installation, instead choose the “Wipe data/Factory reset”. Then repeat flashing the stock firmware. You may then achieved the CSC code flashing the stock firmware on the second attempt.
10. Confirm the CSC code by using Kies 3 and see if the CSC code has changed.
1.There is other way to flash other rom with multi-CSC from signal-CSC (mayby with PIT files?)
2.when we do flash PIT other then it corrupted or missed from your device?
3.there is a chance that there is a differences (in partition ) between ROMS form the same Module but other rigons?

Hi,
i am trying to fix software on my note3 but i have problems finding the right files.
There is Bootloader, PDA, CSC and Baseband but i don't know how to upgrade it to the correct versions.
For example i found Version OK9 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/direct-download-bootloaders-modems-t3258803
But there is no file to update PDA, CSC and Baseband?
I installed the KERNEL file and it changed the Kernel. Did not try RECOVERY yet because i think it could overwrite the Custom Recovery TWRP that is installed now.
In older post i also found some "CP" files for OJ6 and OK6 and they installed new version for PDA but i can not find them for OK9?
Can anybody please explain the different files and how to find the right versions?
I downloaded two files to update bootloader and PDA to OK6 but i can only update the Bootloader but PDA Version does not change.
CP_N9005_OK6.tar.md5
BL_N9005_OK6.tar.md5
The first file is supposed to update the PDA or not?
CP is modem/baseband and it does not update PDA. AP is PDA. You can find complete firmwares from http://www.sammobile.com/. These packages contains all parts together and you can find installation instructions for example from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdDgaqsYrRs.

Ah i see, thx for your help!
Hm so maybe it could be a good idea to install a untouched Stock Rom first and then go to modified image?
I have now installed N9005XXUGBOK6_N9005DBTGBOI1_DBT Stock Image with Odin.
When i want to go back to this image: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/rom-lp-tw-rom-t3027148 is it enought to just install it or do i need to wipe anything before?
I don't want all the samsung adware...
Oh it even killed the philz touch recovery...

how to flash only this PDA/AP & Bootloader via odin?
BL ver : A515FXXU3BTI2
AP Ver : A515FXXU3BTI2
Neither of those are for Note 3 based upon what you have posted .
BL in bl section AP in ap section on Odin .
How to flash the firmware (5 files in archive) to your s7edge?
AP, CP & BL I understand, but the 2 CSC-files...?
CSC -> there's a PIT inside and will wipe your device
HOME_CSC -> the data should stay on your device
Today I tried to update with HOME_CSC, everything was OK, but at the end Odin 3.10.7 FROZE at "meta-data" (this folder is in the HOME_CSC file): nothing happened anymore and I had to pull the cable
Smart Switch didn't recognize my S7edge anymore for the "Emergency Firmware Repair"!
Luckely, Odin did recognize my device and could install the firmware with the "normal" CSC-file and afterwards my device was reset...
I hope someone has a solution on this, because I don't want to install everytime again and again...

Well, the flash went just fine. No problems except the device reset at factory settings. As brand new one....
But of course I would like to know how to flash without resetting the device.
I had the same problem yesterday when used Home_CSC... flashed again with normal CSC and went back to normal with a formated user data
We really need a solution to that... What would happen if we skipped the CSC file when flashing thru ODIN?
Flashing with CSC and not home_CSC will also reset your CSC.
Eg: I was on VODAFONE Romania and flashed stock unbranded using CSC. The result was I lost my ROM (from Romania) CSC, and defaulted to XEO from the multi CSC.
In this situation you cannot go back to your original CSC even after flashing using Smart Switch.
Rooting is the only option then and that will trip Knox.

anybody figured this out?
Just had the same problem flashing with HOME_CSC it got stuck in ODIN and had to pull the cable.
Had to turn off phone and boot again in download mode to flash again with a straight CSC.

CSC contains an instruction that allow Odin to wipe the DATA
Code:
--update_package=CACHE:recovery/sec_csc.zip
--carry_out=csc_factory
--wipe_data
HOME_CSC contains instruction only to allow wipe of cache BUT the original HOME_CSC can cause Odin to freeze at the end of the flashing process.
Code:
--update_package=CACHE:recovery/sec_csc.zip
--carry_out=csc_home
--wipe_cache
That's why you need to modify the HOME_CSC using the CYGWIN tool.
Just dont flash the home csc. I never did it. Everything work greats.

HOME_CSC is supported on Odin version 3.11 or later. It's okay to flash it now.
Sorry to revive this thread but when a downgrade is done from Nougat back to Marshmallow a factory reset via recovery must be required if flashing HOME_CSC. Otherwise just use normal CSC on downgrade.
thank you
Samsung S6 Active G890A
Hello,
Where do I find a HOME_CSC file for Samsung S6 Active SM-G890A device?
My phone's csc region code is MTZ (Zambia), and I am planning to flash a Mexico unbranded firmware. Is this possible?
I had an S7 edge (tmobile) from the US before, ,and I have never experience call drop before. Ever since I got the international S7 Edge, I got a lot of call drops...is this normal? is the firmware to blame for? if so, should I install a different firmware from other region?
I think you have to flash your csc region code together with your choice unbranded firmware without the csc

OK, if you have the original firmware/rom for your device just extract with 7-zip if not download that and also download the newest one and extract that as well. You'll find five files just replace the csc from the original firmware/rom and import all four files into odin except Home_CSC and as I said before this will wipe all your data so backup your important files before flashing.

Not 100% sure, but I have a unlocked S8 + and wanted VoLTE from my carrier, so i flashed the CSC file that belongs to the carrier that has VoLTE, and it worked fine It didn't wipe my data. but you have to make sure to flash the CSC file that doesnt have the pit file inside it (this will repartition your phone and delete the data).
for example the stock firmware for my carrier comes with 2 CSC files.
CSC_EVR_G955FEVR1AQD9_CL11146180_QB13177317_REV00_user_low_ship.tar -- This CSC file will repartition my phone
HOME_CSC_EVR_G955FEVR1AQD9_CL11146180_QB13177317_REV00_user_low_ship.tar -- this CSC doesnt include the pit file and will not wipe my data.
So in your case you will have to check the CSC files and flash the correct one. And if your phone gets stuck on the samsung logo screen try flashing the whole stock firmware with the CSC for VoLTE from your carrier.
(make sure to remove userdata.img from the AP.tar file in the stock image, as this will also wipe your data too from my experience use Z-zip to create/Edit a tar file that can be flashed via Odin)
remember this isnt 100%, but has worked for me in 3 different phones.
