There are single-CSC firmware and also multi-CSC firmware available. Instead of adding the CSC yourself, you can choose the appropriate firmware (that contains the CSC you want) to flash. I see there is no reason to add an CSC manually.
If you still want to add CSC, we will discuss further...

I asked this because I don't know how to create tar.md5 archive nor ext4 image file.
And as I have said, I have never tried that, but will try to do with you.
Give me some time, I will get back to this thread.

#1 Root your phone
for s5 I prefer towerroot as the knox counter is not flagged
#2 install SuperSU
Premade MODS
OPTIONAL install xposed installer for premade mods not all work depending
my phone G900W8 does not use feature.xml for CSC info like G900F
#3 Simplest way is to buy a decent file browser FX with root addon (I personnaly USE)
or use ES (Free) think it works
edit the CSC file by remounting the file system as writable and a file editor right on your phone. REBOOT for results!
*** recommend you backup the CSC files before modification,

@vndnguyen @learning1
I Saw in other forum how to flash on Rom with (signal-csc) other Roms with other csc (multi -csc) without ROOT!
no all ways this app will work with Signal-csc:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.manniakk.cscselector&feature
the error in odin was:
<ID:0/003> cache.img.ext4
<ID:0/003> hidden.img.ext4
<ID:0/003> FAIL! (Ext4)
-My friend try this way in Section 2 (after it fail in the first time)
he extract the with 7zip the file" MODEM.BIN" from the rom with multi-csc and flash with odin in CP with the device in Download mode.
Tricks for Changing CSC Code While Flashing the Stock Firmware:
Sometimes when you just flashed the stock firmware it will not change the CSC code in jut one way around.
The below method might help to obtain the CSC file you want.
Make sure to recharge your phone before anything else.
Fully back-up all important data stored from your phone. You may use Kies 3 to back up and restore or through your Google and Samsung account.
1. Run and configure Odin. Do not check “Re-Partition” and “Auto Reboot” check boxes.
2. Load the stock firmware in the PDA button.
3. Set the phone in download mode (Volume Down+Home+Power button). Then connect the phone in your computer.
4. Hit the “Start” button and then wait.
5. Once the flashing successfully completed. Do not let it reboot into the normal mode.
6. Reboot into recovery mode (Volume Up+Home+Power button).
7. See if it’s applying the CSC file then wait until it finishes and reboot.
8. If you do not see the CSC installation, instead choose the “Wipe data/Factory reset”. Then repeat flashing the stock firmware. You may then achieved the CSC code flashing the stock firmware on the second attempt.
10. Confirm the CSC code by using Kies 3 and see if the CSC code has changed.
1.There is other way to flash other rom with multi-CSC from signal-CSC (mayby with PIT files?)
2.when we do flash PIT other then it corrupted or missed from your device?
3.there is a chance that there is a differences (in partition ) between ROMS form the same Module but other rigons?

[Q] Changing Galaxy S4 CSC (i9505)

Hi everyone,
this maybe a very noob question but how do you change the CSC on the S4?
I recently flashed an unbranded UK firmware onto my Australian S4, back with my old phone, I was able to change the CSC with *#272*IMEI# though that doesn't seem to work now. So any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to change the CSC to a UK CSC so I'll be able to receive updates OTA or through kies.
1.Download the appropriate firmware for your region from sammobile.
2.Extract Hidden.img and cache.img
3.Now compress these two files together into a .Tar file.
4.Flash this in PDA section of Odin
5.You now have correct CSC
Sent from my GT-I9305 using XDA Premium HD app
Is anyone having trouble changing their CSC?
I've flashed the pre-rooted UK Firmware, and used CSC Changer to set the CSC to BTU.
It automatically re-boots, but the CSC hasn't changed.
I boot into recovery and perform a F.Reset, and the CSC still doesn't change to BTU.
As far as I can tell, I'm following all instructions correctly from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250824
"If someone want to change CSC, please use this app: Samsung Galaxy S2/S3 CSC
After using this app you MUST reboot into RECOVERY for the changes to take place.
Don't worry if you see some errors in recovery, it's NORMAL as "hidden.img" is excluded..
WORKS perfectly! TESTED!! "
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, and I'm getting increasingly frustrated!

Tried that without success. Got a failure in Odin.
There's no hidden.img nor cache.img but hidden.img.ext4 and cache.img.ext4. Are these the correct files?
I downloaded latest btu UK firmware
Loaded with odin
Did a factory reset
Switched if and then went into recovery mode
Rebooted and btu was activated
I was not rooted

they are just ext4 formats so u could mount it on linux or something else..
use mkuserimg.sh command to convert
I'm also interested in this. I also changed from Australian firmware to UK. Since changing I've noticed HD voice (wb amr) is off (check by typing *#0011# into dialer then menu key>back>menu key>key input >enter '1' then wait till menu appears >WB AMR Status.)
Prior to changing roms both WB AMR Setting and UTMS WB was On. Now they're both off. I did some searching and apparently its tied to the CSC.
so.....how do we change csc to s4? i have installed unbranded rom, wiped but csc remained the same. how de we change this?

I am also stuck after trying several suggestions of fixes..
The Sammobile firmware for NEE (Nordic) gives a CSC of BTU, i previously had H3G
Looks like we will have to wait till DEV's get time to build a work-around.
Doing web searches there are several dodgy sites that claim older changers work on the S4 & also giving instructions to install via the old way with the 3 files, instead of just the PDA.

i just reboted in stock android recovery (hold vol up + home button+ power),and it said "applied multi csc....and it changed the csc to the my curent firmware¨s csc
I am trying to set my csc to BTU. Im using csc changer app.
However everytime I run it, I dont get a screen allowing me to choose the csc as they show in guides.
I know the app works, since its changed my csc from EVR to DBT (since my rom is german based).
What am I doing wrong?
After playing around with several stock firmwares and Odin, I accidentally stumbled upon a method to change the CSC of my S4 I9505 without the need to root the device. I successfully changed from the original TGY (Hong Kong) to SIN (Singapore) and then to DBT (Germany). This is what I did (in summary)
Make sure you take a backup via Kies if you need personal files
Download the respective stock ROMS from sammobile.com or samsung-updates.com or see thread on Stock Roms on XDA
Extract zip to get tar.md5
Put device into download mode (Vol down+ Home + Power) and Flash using Odin (PDA option)
Wait till device reboots back into Android after completing the flash and recovery
Once device reboots, do a Factory Reset via Settings > Accounts
Once device reboots after Factory Reset/recovery, enter the google account info and restore settings and then turn off the device
Boot device back into download mode (Vol down+ Home + Power)
Re-flash the same downloaded firmware for a second time via Odin
Once the device reboots after the 2nd flash, your CSC should have changed to the CSC of the ROM you downloaded, and Kies also should show that CSC has changed and it should allow future updates via Kies or OTA

It's unnecessary to do steps 7-10. You may check your new CSC in recovery mode after restoring the device.

I was thinking so too but that's exactly what helped me to change CSC on my i9295 (very common with i9505). After the first wipe I still had the old CSC (I checked in Kies though). After the full procedure I have proper CSC in Kies. Probably there is a easier way but this one works also.

Of course I restarted Kies. I think what I have not done is entering Recovery once the Odin flash is done. Entering Recovery gives the following: Applying Multi-CSC... Applied the CSC-code: XXX (my new CSC here). And I think here's where all the magic happens.

At least for me, my device goes in to "Recover Booting" after each Odin flash as well as a factory reset. I actually tried a a manual recovery boot via Vol Up + Home + Power after the factory reset in step 6, but it did not change my CSC, hence doing all steps is what worked for me all the time. I once skipped the Google login part after the factory reset and it didn't work that time either and had to do another factory reset, google login and another re-flash.
I wish there is an easier way, the reason I have been experimenting with different firmwares is to see if I can get LTE working natively, since phone does not show the LTE option under Mobile Networks. We have 2 operators offering LTE here in Sri Lanka but Samsung only sells the I9500 officially here which does not have LTE, so got down my I9505 from HK. So far I have had to use Viaero 4G Toggle app from the play store to enable LTE, while it works, enabling LTE this way is a huge battery drainer!
but is there a way to extract CSC from a particular firmware and flash only this?
I used to do it on my S3 by using the hidden.img and the cache.img but if I try in Odin on the S4 it fails (

And how to use it with Odin 3.10? With Re-partition checked? Can you do a how-to?
Thanks
Load newest drivers for device from:
http://www.samsung.com/support/downloads
To completely flash the device, in ODIN v3.10, Simple load all four parts into there designated slots:
"BL" = BL
"AP" = AP
"CP" = MODEM
"CSC" = CSC
Then check to re-partition, nand erase all.
Charge device to 100% battery!!!
Place device into download mode, hold volume down, home button, press and release power.
Press volume up to confirm.
Connect to computer.
Check the phone bootloader update, and efs clear checkboxes once device is recognized.
Hit the START button!!
WAIT FOR REBOOT!

And the pit file where is it?
It is located inside the .tar.md5 file. It will re-partition if you check the box. You can extract it if you like, but if you dont know how....honestly you shouldn't be messing with it, IMHO

How to reinstall firmware on S7 edge?

Hi everyone. I am having battery drain issues after i installed the September security update. I want to reinstall the firmware on smart switch by connecting to PC.
The last time i tried it through emergency software recovery in fownload mode, I almost bricked my phone. Can i reinstall using device initialization option? Which one would be better?
Thanks in advance.

When you brick your device it has nothing to do with Odin (use the latest version)
Make sure you install the right firmware for your device
Import the appropriate files to Odin exactly where they supposed to be
You'll have five files when unpacked downloaded package
Installing CSC will wipe your device, to avoid that you have to install HOME_CSC instead
You may also need to set a password for a secure startup as it may ask

If you want to flash different stock firmware other than your region, flash the three (BL, AP, CP ) and use your original HOME_CSC (you are aware that you have to start all over), installing your region stock firmware with HOME_CSC will not wipe your device.
If you forget password use (default_password) without the brackets but it's important to set it before and use it only if you forget

Did you flash Marshmallow CSC? That is why
No, I flashed everything from the package I downloaded with samfirm. Ap, Cp, home_csc and Bl. And as I said I came from a clean installed nougat (the btu release from Dec the 30th).
Any other ideas?

Try editing the csc in system manually to the correct one. Use the app phone info and check if original csc matches with installed csc. In my case there was no csc installed at all.

As i said, it is caused by a missing csc. You have to copy the correct csc to the appropriate system folder manually and everything will be in order.

Ok, first step is to locate your "sales_code.dat" file in the directory "system/csc" with a root explorer.
Change the access rights of the file to read and write for all user groups.
Now you have to edit this file with a text editor. If your root explorer has an editor included you can do it right away. TED Text editor for axample cant access root directories so you have to copy the "sales_csc.dat" to you internal memory, edit it and copy it back to "system/csc" by replacing the old file.
This file shall only contain your country code. In my case the file was empty, so there was no CSC chosen at all, which will mess up your settings menu.
So, just type in your desired country code (for example BTU for United Kingdom).
The second step is to copy the csc files for your country code to the correct directory, just follow this pretty nice tutorial here:
https://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31670
Now just reboot your phone and everything should be in order.

Almost there. It is now showing me the correct "Firmware CSC" and "Active CSC" but "original CSC" is still blank and so is "Available CSC".
This is from the "Phone INFO" app.
The settings menu is now showing me the correct options, which is good..
O well thanks this far.. I'll see if I can get the last bits working too..
I have a similar problem now but i cant solve it. I once flashed the BTU Firmware with repartition. My original CSC is DBT so it installed the DBT CSC. Then i Updated it and had to manually change csc again to DBT so the settings were correct. Now i want wo update again and it does not install any CSC, not even with Odin. If i extract the sec_csc.zip from the home_csc file and try to flash it via recovery it just doesnt copy any files.
Does anyone have a solution?
Phone info shows me original CSC is DBT but the field active CSC is blank. i copied the files manually to the system folder but it still doesnt activate any CSC.
I had this too, and it was because i didnt installed csc. Maybe its your issue, too?
i tried to install the correct csc in multiple ways but it wont install and activate correctly. i tried via odin, tried to flash the extracted sec_csc.zip, treid to flash the non home csc. nothing worked. not even doing the repartition.

SM-G935F Firmware for United States

Hello, I purchase a SM-G935F from a pawnshop today that was flashed with a custom ROM however it does not boot. The phone goes into download mode just fine and want to flash stock firmware but cannot find the USA version. The box came the phone and appears to be a USA version, the UPC code on the box is 8806088275123 and I check the IMEI on a website service and it came back with this model number SM-G935FZKLTTT and says it was sold in the USA. Any help from members would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance for your help.

You can flash any region firmware on the SM-G930F phone, try this one:
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7-edge/SM-G935F/BTU/

Thank you my friend, trying now.
I forgot to tell you that factory reset is required when switching from custom rom to stock rom so make sure you flash the non home CSC file and not the home_csc file.

Yes, it is in the download. When you download Samsung firmware from Sammobile or Updato website they come in a zipped file. You'll need to extract the zipped folder which will give you multiple files labelled AP, BL, CP, CSC and lastly HOME_CSC.
This is an example of what the files look like when the files are extracted from the downloaded firmware zip file:
http://prntscr.com/k07am0
The non_home csc file is used to tell the phone to wipe the user data on the phone when flashed, the home CSC is used if you don't want to wipe the user data on the phone when flashing firmware.

Right now the phone will not boot, it shows the title of the phone but then just loops back to a black screen.

If you are flashing Oreo firmware which is 8.0 you need to use Odin 3.13 or newer as the older Odin software does not support flashing Oreo firmware.
The only buttons you need to click are BL, AP, CP, CSC then start and nothing else.
The default check boxes under options tab will be auto reboot and f reset time. Others should be left untouched and not checked.
You'll need to reboot download mode again which can be done by holding the download mode keys until you get that blue screen again or that it says that something ran into a problem with the blue screen which allows flashing as well.

Hello again, well I thought it worked because I got a PASS in Odin however, when the phone boots, I get a Black screen saying Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge then it goes to a blue screen with the android logo and it says erasing at the bottom for a few seconds then the screen goes black. The phone still goes into download mode however, it will not go into recover mode. Before flashing this I could get into recovery mode but would see a custom page with loading and rebooting options. Am I missing the stock boot loader? So sorry to keep bothering you about this.
