"3G" is pretty vague. Anybody found what 3G frequencies it supports?
Nevermind- 2100MHz only and 15mm thick. I'll pass.

I completely agree with your observations, and I could also add that I don't like the design, but 3 points are worthy of some close examination:
1- The watch has the newer MTK6580 SoC which is a quad-core (!!!) and already has support for Android 5.x
2- The watch has Android 5.1
3- The watch seems to have very interesting new features in his watch faces, look at the attached images.

Very interesting pictures. It looks like the watch face has touchable areas for calls and messages. Perhaps that means this is more of a full tethering watch than the D5/K8 class. My budget is pretty well shot for buying new watches, but I tell you what. If any of you are inclined to contact the seller @soniasophie9697 suggests and recommend they send a sample unit to me for a SmartWatchTicks YouTube review before you make a decision to buy, I'll do you right and run it through the mill, including taking it apart and looking inside. Hey, worth a try! The reason I ask is I *may* have two other vendors sending me two new watches for review to get them some exposure, so this concept might be catching on. We'll see. Here's sonia's link again: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2016..._9&btsid=d33f34da-3626-4e07-8b0e-a93184485b7c

yep, but it's good to know that now there will be upgraded android watches, i just wish that more apps will suit these watches since the community of users is big. i do'nt want the Wear watch not because of the price but because it is not usable without the phone and the gear s\s2 do'nt have many apps for them.

IQI, the supplier, I know personally.
Just to be clear, there is no Google of any sort, according to IQI. They say they want to partner with some US companies willing to provide Google.
I would suggest their M200 model, it is thinner.

Sad part is they can't, at least legally. Google has gone after a couple of makers and has made it very clear that no full Android smartwatch can have Google Services. It's either their private Club Wear or nothing.

Are No.1, FINOW, and ZGPAX treading on thin ice then? All three offer full GPS (Google Play Services) complete with updates through the GPS (Google Play Store). Seems like Google would cut them off the update process at a minimum. Something doesn't add up.

Here the issue. In China, where these watches come from, Google has little power. The Chinese laws regarding IP are, well, fluid. Companies are more or less left to keep their stuff secret and if pilfered, "to bad, so sad". Start making waves outside of China and it's a different game. For example;
Omate was including Google apps on their Omate TS, Google didn't notice. Omate got popular and covered very heavily in the press and Google took notice. An "oh no you don't" from Google and . . . Google apps "disappear" from the TS and are hidden behind a "secret code". Google catches wind of this and Omate gets a "we should talk". After that, Google apps are removed completely.
Tons of devices are released every year with some of them being different by only a couple of lines in the build.prop. If Google said, "no more w812a"s get access", the ODM can change that line to say "W812a" then "w812A" and so on. Multiply that by the hundreds of different Android devices that come out of China every year. Another thing to consider is that, at least for smartwatches, without official certifications there is no interest by app devs as a whole to support these devices. This leaves these devices without properly formatted apps which kills interest for most folks.
So little to no western market presence is both a blessing (Google doesn't take notice) and a curse (less sales).

Anyone gets a SWAP EC309 smartwatch ?? I cant find any review at the moment but it has been released already.
But it seems strange that the official website still not yet updated ???

With a 4G flash drive you'll have plenty of room for the latest games, apps, and playlists that will be accessible to you using touch screen technology."
Interesting, though I can't find any reviews either.
For that price and those specs, either get the Omate TrueSmart (waterproof and only $199 on kickstarter) or the upcoming Neptune Pine. That's ridiculously priced.
Omate or get the EC309 directly from the manufacturer.

@Lokifish Marz you appear to be one of the world's leading expert's on smart watches; I'm curious - is there a watch you would recommend?
I got here from the Omate thread re: CES 2014 where you said the EC309 firmware was better than the Omate's.
I'm looking for the best Android watch that has access to the Google Play store (unofficial or not, I don't care), has accessibility service so I can get notifications and ideally has 1GB of RAM, good battery life etc. I don't care about IP6 waterproof etc. Headphone jack would also be a major plus.
Would love to hear your thoughts....thank you for your time.

If you could merge the TrueSmart, EC-309 four button model, ZGPAX and the TOQ then I would have the perfect device. (Or update the WIMM One and add a couple of things). If I could be certain the AI Watch existed with the specs listed then that would get a vote too.
My personal recommendation is to wait and see what CES or the devs bring to smartwatches.

The ZGPAX could be the best of the bunch, but as of yet, there is no Devs working on it. A custom rom would make this top notch.
If you want to use skype or similar apps for front facing camera, This is the only one thus far. Others have camera's on the side or other weird positions.
Skype works on this, but it does heat up alot with any cpu intensive app.
I have tried the apps that change the cpu such as rom toolbox, MTK6577 CPU governor Switch, etc, but none of the settings (ondemand performance, powersave, or super powersave have done much to lower the overheating problem.

Oh yeah, there are no custom ROMs per se but so far I am enjoying this little beast for sure. :highfive:
Not sure about 3G but I was only connecting with 2G when I tried my SIM card with ATT. Didnt play much with it as I only do it when at the Ice Rink and for data I connect to their free wifi so the SIM card is just for calls and MMS at that point.

Question... Can you sync this watch with a phone at all? i.e. SMS sent to the phone show up on the watch? Also, can you take a phone call through the phone on the watch (watch serving as a bluetooth headset for the phone)? I'm looking for something of a companion device to my phone, but not necessarily a watch that serves as my primary phone.
This is a standalone watchphone so it doesnt sync with your phone as a second screen.
Not sure if there are downloadable apps for this.
I tried pairing via bt with my tab 3 7.0 and it could only use the watch as an internet access point.
With a dual core 1.2ghz processor, the watch is no doubt powerful. Youtube videos stream in HD without a glitch. And i suspect you could run pretty intensive games on this thing. But i seriously doubt the 500mah battery could see it thru a couple of hours.
At best this would be adequate as a messenger and voice call notifier kinda device, maybe some push email and calendaring and thats about it. Perhaps the odd google lookup for an address or location.
Will still need another device for decent portable net surfing and entertainment and real work if any.
Two models, slight differences:
Free3 - http://www.lembird.com/Free3/show_31.html
Free4 - http://www.lembird.com/Free4/show_32.html
Price 119.5 USD, shipping cost 28USD, they do not use Paypal. Contact Yeva - [email protected]. "3TM water resistance" - what's that mean?
'Most likely' you buy this watch 'as is', once its delivered then there's no:
1. Warranty, if it arrives faulty you pay for shipping to China and back
2. Software update or support
3. Hardware support or spare parts to buy
The Android version 4.4.2 - would it not cause problems with newer apps? PushBullet doesn't work (even though PushBullet so expensive now). Only one Chinese watch (no SIM) has Android 5.1 - http://www.gearbest.com/smart-watches/pp_260935.html.
The 3 is the K8/K18 round, the 4 is the K8 mini/D5. So both are rebrands and not made by Lembird.
3ATM? I highly doubt it, they are IP67 at best. 3ATM is equal to 30m/100ft water resistance. If you look at smartwatches with that rating or better (a short list), very few have a mic (a very short list) and none have a speaker. So their claim of 3ATM alone is enough reason to avoid them.
They take a SIM card so companion capability would be pretty lacking. Say, basic notifications but little in the way to reply or interact with notifications. They are designed to be standalone devices.

The same case design, specifications, UI, watchfaces. When it comes to Chinese smartwatches there are only two circumstances in which this happens. Either it's a rip-off clone (inferior), or it came from the same ODM. Example; If I wanted to, right now I could buy a shipping crate of the Free4/Mini/D5 and have the ODM stamp each watch and box with whatever I want. With that being said, I'm not even sure Zeaplus is the ODM of the K18 but a quick search through sources and announcement dates kinda of stops there.

... I should know better by now, just like the x201 clones, its history repeating, so there will be more round Chinese clones popping up for a year or two. If the large firms (samsung/moto) decide that triangle is a good (money making) shape, we'll see Chinese triangle clones and people will happily wear them thinking its the 'new in thing'.
@Lokifish Marz - is there a generic name for theses round clones or can we give it a generic name, might make life easier? W806 maybe?

Heads up to those interested.. I think the kickstarter campaign is going to start soon. Looks like it could be pretty decent if the hype is anything to go by.
Hopefully they'll involve communities like this one in their development, it'd certainly help brand awareness!
Edit : In fact they have a pre-launch fb group here - https://m.facebook.com/groups/577584915748399
Edit 2 : Any devs interested in the watch should join, they genuinely seem interested in community participation, so any feedback from you guys would be good.

Congrats guys, hope it's a step above the rest. It is refreshing to see companies interact with the paying public like that, I know pebble did really well with their campaign, but I'm not sure how open they were to suggestion from the community.
Unfortunately (fortunately) I procured a fenix 3 for my birthday recently and it suits me down to the ground, otherwise I'd have definitely grabbed one of these.
Looking forward to the Onyx to add to my collection: seems to offer a lot of possibilities and upgrades for the smart watch communities...wondering if I'm developing a watch addiction...12 steps here I come................

I've received mine - it's easy enough to get Android APKs and Wear APKs on to it, but it lacks a browser and account manager so many apps will crash out. However, many also work perfectly fine, particularly once you modify the DPI.
It's a lovely watch - the best I've owned, although the Gear S running Android is also very functional in a different (ie fully Android) way.
Rooting is problematic for now - most of the usual apps aren't successful at rooting. Has anyone found a successful process?
No problems with the CPU and it charges quickly wirelessly. All in, a lovely watch.
Question - other than the custom OS features, is it worth more than the £99 Gearbest watches? I'm not sure, but it's certainly stylish.
I'd buy it at £130, but I think that's the price point all good smartwatches should be at.

Due to his disease, he has already lost two mobile phones. We think he'd be less likely to lose a smartwatch.
Then I would propose any smartwatch with builtin GPS, sim enabled, with Android Os (not Android wear) and Cerberus app, for advanced tracking.

I searched this weekend and it turns out there are quite a few!
Here's a whole Google+ community dedicated to them:

I had already asked in that G+ group but did not get any response yet. Think many of these watches don't have the 3G band required for US GSM networks and apparently 2G is going to be turned off per the sticky post. ZGPAX S99 works on AT&T per a post here. Plus it looks like with anything other that basic phone calls (like leaving GPS on) battery won't last much long. I hope I am wrong about all these. Have been looking for a Android/Android Wear watch for a similar use case but don't know anything other than Omate rise (bad track record, expensive) and the LG urbane (verizon, expensive, need plan). Would love to find something that works that can take a 3g sim.

I'm pinning my hopes on the upcoming Finow X1 Plus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQBPmHpC2GQ
But I'll first need to read some convincing reviews before biting!
If the purpose for getting a smartwatch is solely for safety/tracking, there are dedicated devices made for that purpose. I've seen them for kids, but I'm pretty sure they exist for seniors and medically related purposes also.

Thanks, but for some reason although there are many such watches for kids, there are very few for the elderly. Also, many of them rely on expensive US-based subscriptions and charge extra for other countries. The thing that I like about these full Android watches is that they're way cheaper and you can simply use a regular SIM card with cheap pre-paid service anywhere in the world. *Assuming the battery life and GPS are decent*, which is yet to be seen
Don't expect GPS-enabled watches to last for more than 1 day, without charging.

I just bought an iTouch Air 2 smartwatch. But I cannot find ANY - I mean ANY - info on the tech specs, even on their supposed website.. It is available in many stores like Macy's, or Kohl's or Target etc. The website for the watch is
https://itouchwearables.com/products/itouch-air-2?variant=12482537717783
I cannot even add a new watch face besides the 3 pre-installed, which are pretty bad.
I would appreciate any info on this watch, and also if it can be hacked .... Thanks!!

From the fcc pictures, it has a mt2502dv so it's an embedded CPU so no full android so you have limited hacking other than switching the watch face.
Google 2ALERITAIR2017 to get the pictures for yourself

Thank you so much!
Yes, I found the FCC pages, but there were only pics of the inside. I am not competent enough to figure out what it is. So thanks again.
Have you come across any kind of hacking for this hardware? I found a few Chinese pages, but is it possible to even modify the software in any way?

There is misc threads here on xda, but they don't seem to have progressed very much sadly.
Looking for info on any iTouch wearables devices. Especially the Air and Curve.
Like those before me, I've had an incredibly difficult time finding any technical info. Shame considering how cheap and widely available this device is.
The air is particularly puzzling as how to proceed. The charging port is not a standard USB and looks like there is no data transfer that route. Though I never before thought to ask this question, Google indicates others have: It may be possible to flash firmware over Bluetooth...
I got an Air as a gift, so no real loss if I mangle it beyond repair in the process of exploring. Given how cheap these things are, for $50 I'd even pick up a couple extra.
I'd like to be able to control smart-home devices via the watch. I think I could rig up something to communicate with a full Android device via Bluetooth -- like using a push notification or even sms to trigger an event - like to change a setting on my home thermostat.... but that's just circumventing the limitations of the iTouch and not actually adding something useful, so kinda boring.
What I'd really like to do is customize the interface on the watch itself.
