Hello Friends,
today I'd like to show you how to upgrade your Z2 (D6503) w/ locked Bootloader to the latest 6.0.1 Marshmallow STOCK + TWRP + (optional)Xposed Framework.
First of all I'd like to thank those people for their work:
@adop40 for the overall idea
@serajr for making the Marshmallow TWRP that works with locked Bootloader
@Victor91rus for uploading the .570 firmware I used to make the flashable .zip
@ravdo & @niaboc79 for the Bootloop Fix Guide & Bootloopfix.zip
Checklist for the things you need1. A Z2 phone running the latest Lollipop STOCK + Root + Busybox+ [NUT]'s Dual Recovery (If you don't have root, search for kingroot and root your device, after that install [NUT]'s Dual Recovery)
2. Download Bootloop Fix from HERE
3. Download my Marshmallow Package with the required files here: DOWNLOAD [MEGA] OR if you wanna use your own flashable rom just download the files without rom here: DOWNLOAD [MEGA]
4. Make a backup of your device
5. Install latest adb drivers and enable USB Debugging + Unknown Sources
6. IF you have Xposed Framework installed on Lollipop download the uninstaller from HERE
choose xposed-uninstaller-********-arm.zip
Installing Guide using Sonys Official ROM (Easy and Safe Version)1. Extract the zip files (flashable.zip, byeselinux_flashable.zip, RICDefeat.zip) from the marshmallow.zip + BOOTLOOP FIX.zip onto your SD Card and copy the Recovery Folder (Z2_MM_TWRP) to your Desktop + IF you have the Xposed Framework installed copy the xposed-uninstaller-********-arm.zip also to your SD card
2. Boot your phone into Recovery Mode DO A FACTORY RESET FIRST(Optional: You can TRY to keep your apps + data and just DO NO FACTORY RESET AT ALL which maybe works(for me it did) but create a backup first) and THEN flash the zip files in this order: (xposed-uninstaller-********-arm.zip) => flashable.zip => byeselinux_flashable.zip => RICDefeat.zip => BOOTLOOP FIX.zip
3. Wipe Cache & Dalvik and REBOOT
3.1. Flash the kernel only using flashtool using the ftf (exclude everything except Kernel) and then boot (First boot may take a while because we cleaned the Dalvik-Cache)
4. After the reboot INSTALL BUSYBOX(Open App and hit Install) and then connect your phone to the PC and run the install.bat from the Z2_MM_Recovery folder (Accept any prompt popping up on your phone)
5. Phone will reboot into recovery when successfull, then you're done
6. Enjoy
Installing Guide using a different ROM (Try at your own risk/confirmed working ROMs at Threadbottom)1. Extract the zip files (BETA-SuperSU-v2.68.zip, byeselinux_flashable.zip, RICDefeat.zip) from the "marshmallow without ROM.zip" + BOOTLOOP FIX.zip onto your SD Card, copy your "customROM.zip" onto your SD card and copy the Recovery Folder (Z2_MM_TWRP) to your Desktop + IF you have the Xposed Framework installed copy the xposed-uninstaller-********-arm.zip also to your SD card
2. Boot your phone into Recovery Mode DO A FACTORY RESET FIRST(Optional: You can TRY to keep your apps + data and just DO NO FACTORY RESET AT ALL which maybe works(for me it did) but create a backup first) and THEN flash the zip files in this order: (xposed-uninstaller-********-arm.zip) => customROM.zip => BETA-SuperSU-v2.68.zip => byeselinux_flashable.zip => RICDefeat.zip => BOOTLOOP FIX.zip
5. Phone will reboot into recovery when successfull then you're done
(optional) Xposed Framework for MarshmallowIf you wanna use Xposed Framework on Marshmallow you need to do two more extra things:
Prerequisites:
Z2 with working Marshmallow + Root + TWRP INSTALLED
XposedInstaller.apk You can find it HERE
XposedFramework.zip You can find it HERE (Download the LATEST one)
How to install:
1. Install the XposedInstaller.apk
2. Reboot into TWRP and flash the XposedFramework.zip
3. Wipe Cache & Dalvik and Reboot
4. Enjoy
Confirmed working custom ROMs[ROM]Marshmallow_Stock_570_ROM_Ultraslim (Full deodxed)
If you have any questions or find MISTAKES just message me I'll try to keep the thread updated :good:
Don't forget to flash the bootloopfix.zip or you'll have a bad time!!!
Downloading.....i can't wait to test

Method 1
Download KDZ: HERE
LG Driver: HERE
LG Flash Tool: HERE
1. Download Mode
You must switch off the device to start the process.
Then press and hold the “Volume Up” and connect the USB cable from phone to PC.
Use the original USB cable. Because, other device’s cable may not be detected in the Computer. So, only we recommend it to use the original one that you got it when you bought the phone.
Wait for the driver installation on PC.
Then you will get the download mode screen in your phone.
That’s it.
You can return to the normal mode by press and hold power button.
Don’t unplug the cable while the update process is running. Because, it will damage your phone.
2. Downgrade using KDZ Method: HERE
3. Root (PurpleDrake): HERE
4. BUMP:
Download TWRP 2.8.4.0: HERE
Flash it with Flashify : Tutorial
5. You are ready for CM12!
CM12: HERE
GApps: HERE
[Optional] SuperSU: HERE
Method 2 (thanks to ziggyboy)
If you want to do this really quickly, copy the following APK's before you flash the KK ROM to your SD card:
Stump
SuperSU
Flashify
TWRP
Latest CM12
GApps for LP
This saves you from having to download or copy the APK within the process.
Here's a detailed guide:
Copy the APK's listed above to your SD card.
Flash 10A-10D using the guide linked by the OP.
When setting up KK, just skip everything. No need to connect to wifi, 3G, or your PC.
Install the Stump APK from your SD card. Run it to root your device. You'll likely reboot.
Install the SuperSU APK from your SD card.
Install the Flashify APK from your SD card. Run it to flash TWRP. Make sure you select the 'recovery image 'option.
The installation process should reboot you to TWRP.
In TWRP: Wipe then flash CM12 and GApps.
Reboot and set up CM12!!
Does SuperSU not included in the CM12 official ROM ? I remember that it's embedded inside the ROM.
I flashed SuperSU because probably Superuser app isn't present as I think it got merged with Privacy Guard together but I can assure you an applet when an app requests SU permission is present but first you have to activate it in developers option. I think you can skip flashing it.

Howcome I often see the 16 GB version of EUR and not the 32 GB?
I've got a 32GB version of EUR. Maybe because in europe 32gb version is lot more expensive of 16gb.

Yea, you're right. I put the links of all the guides i'd followed so I'm 100% sure that's working. Thank you for the update.
I've got a slightly easier method (IMO) of doing this. Here's a summary. Detailed steps later on.
Flash an earlier ROM, preferably 10A-10D. Don't forget to wipe.
Use Stump to root (it's so much quicker and you can do it from your phone). See http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/root-stump-root-lg-g3-sprint-verizon-t2850906
Install Flashify and use it to flash TWRP.
Reboot to TWRP, wipe and flash CM12 + GApps.
If you want to do this really quickly, copy the following APK's before you flash the KK ROM to your SD card:
Stump
SuperSU
Flashify
TWRP
Latest CM12
GApps for LP
This saves you from having to download or copy the APK within the process.

I live in Spain, I guess this is the correct firmware for me, right?: 42 6UA/EUROPE COMMON_16G V10A
Hi GFXi0N, it's not important where the kdz was released. Flash any KK KDZ (in your case all 16GB version KDZ) then root and bump it.
Thanks Ziggyboy for the guide. Yea is slightly easier, I will update the thread and add yours
Awesome guide, thanks to both of ya (OP and the super-quick guide) =)

Full Wipe/Clean Flash/Clean Install [same].
When you change from one ROM type to another [from KK to Lollipop or even from the same variant but from different Developers/types of ROMS] always do the above term mentioned.
In TWRP go to wipe>advanced wipe. Then mark Cache, Dalvik Cache, Data and System.
Wipe.
Flash the ROM [don't reboot].
Flash Gapps.
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache after Gapps [recommended].
Reboot and enjoy!
This is what I do and never have a problem.
is it possible to flash a normal 5.0 rom ? i don't like the CM12
What do you mean by "normal" 5.0 ROM?
If you mean something like the Nexus 6 ROM the answer is no. CM12 is probably the closest you'll get to pure Android Lollipop.

I been googling whole day and I cant find even one guide for Linux. I would love to downgrade my lg g3 d855 to kitkat and then upgrade to lollipop 5.1.1 but I DON'T want to install freaking windows to do it.

How and where do we check the version? Also, would it work in India?
Just flash Latest Recovery from [NUT]

Maybe it works with older version too, but im only tested it with 2.8.21.
I guess it woks for India too.
It's ok to use this for example, on a phone with a differente CDA?
I did everything as instructed and it got me into a bootloop...

Try my version, it seems to work according to others (I sttil didn't have time to test it):
Are you sure you used the latest supersu? Yours is much smaller than mine.
D5503_14.6.A.0.368_Customized_DE_prerooted.zip
I guess its a problem with latest PRFCreator (1.0). Witch Version of PRFCreator did you use?
Also i left the fota-reset.ta and custom-reset.ta but i think its not the reason for the smaler size.
Download the installer version of the dual recovery 2.8.21 and just reinstall the revovery with the phone running. This should work for regaining full root.
Best, maris

dual recovery Ver 2.8.21
Noob question. I have rooted, and have recovery installed per the How-to. Guide, but now I want to upgrade to the latest Firmware.
Are these the proper steps to follow? I am confused because people always reference back to the How-to Guide, but that was from a non-rooted phone without recovery, so what should I do now with rooted and recovery installed?
I have downloaded the preroot+recovery.zip file... Are the following steps correct?
1. Put the .zip file in the internal memory
2. Boot into recovery
3. Flash the .zip firmware
Is that it?
guys the link wont download. can someone mirror it for me or link me to another flashable zip?
Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
@ah_hin should work....but wipe only cache and dalvik...
another way a bit more time consuming is to back-up the apps using Titanium and then do a full wipe (always better than a dirty flash) flash the new build and then restore apps. i did it that way and have no issues...
@ zike .... use the flashtool to download the latest tft then use the guide on how to create your own prerooted flashable, is faster than to look for a mirror that is available and fast.
Hi i have a big problem i wanted to root my xperia z3 compact so i unlocked the boot loader & i installed CWM Recovery v 6.0.4.7 the problem is when the phone start a pink light show up i can access to recovery mode when i press vol up but when i let it, it will be orange & reboot & the pink light show up again so i wiped data/factory reset but nothing happening & a message appear : E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext] what's the solution plz

@Siddharth Mahendran You should have a Recovery installed on your phone before flashing a Pre-Rooted firmware...
Use Xperia [Nut]'s Dual recovery installer for Xperia Z1: http://nut.xperia-files.com/?ql=162303ad4b67ec4f7c00159b1de0e18807279c4a
If the Procedure hasn't changed(Becoz its been long since I used it), It should have .bat file or some kind of command line script. Have USB debugging and unknown sources enabled on your device. Connect your phone to ur PC and execute the bat file. It should search for the device and it will install the Dual Recovery.
Then, Copy the pre-rooted firmware that you downloaded from here into your phone. Reboot your phone, while booting the notification LED will light up, and then press Volume Down/Up button, based on the recovery you want. Then, wipe system, data, cache and dalvik cache using the option like wipe/format based on the recovery you are using. Then, Choose install->search for the Pre-rooted Firmware you copied, select it and Confirm installation. Once Completed, Reboot device.
Remember That, First boot will take a long time, be patient...
Backup all data before, trying anything on XDA!!!!
I am not responsible, if you do anything wrong or something went wrong in the Procedure!!!

Just use the latest Flashtool, it should solve all the problems with the fsc script... To recover your device from softbrick, don't exclude anything, make sure all wipes are checked and you are good to go. hope that helps.

Xposed works with .216 firmware. Running it myself.
Have you downloaded the correct 2 files for running xposed on lollipop?

I think the system isn't getting mounted as rw, and since xposed installer writes to system, it is failing to install. Kindly tell me how to mount system as rw since even after deodexing it isn't getting mounted.

Sorry. idk about that.maybe senior members would help
Hi! can you update this with the the latest release 236?
UPDATE 14.05.2017: Chainfire has released autoroot for Galaxy S5 Mini G800F based on firmware 6.0.1. It can be downloaded from the official CF Autoroot website (direct link to the G800F file). It is by far the easiest and fastest method for getting root access on your device without the need for TWRP.
Procedure for rooting with CF autoroot:
1. Charge your S5 Mini's battery to at least 80% and make sure you have Samsung USB drivers installed on your PC
2. Enable USB debugging on the S5 Mini
3. Download the CF autoroot file from the link above and unpack the zip archive
4. Open ODIN as administrator (right click -> Run as administrator)
5. Put the S5 Mini in download mode and connect it via USB cable to the PC
6. After ODIN recognizes the device, click "AP" and select the autoroot file
7. Click "Start" and wait for the process to finish - shouldn't take more than a few seconds
8. When the log in ODIN says "Disconnected", unplug the USB cable from the phone and wait for it to restart itself
9. Verify proper root with a tool like Root Checker
If you want to have TWRP recovery and Xposed framework, use the guide below.
This method applies only to the S5 Mini G800F variant running Android 6.0.1. Trying this on other variants may result in bricking your device. I used this procedure to get root access and Xposed working on my European S5 Mini G800F using a German (DBT) Marshmallow firmware. Use at your own risk, I'm not responsible for anything that happens to your device. Note that this procedure voids your warranty. This guide assumes that you already have TWRP recovery or know how to flash it.
Backup everything important like contacts and photos before you begin.
Requirements for this method to work:
unrooted Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini G800F running official stock Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow
Samsung USB driver
enable USB debugging
charge your phone's battery to 100% just in case
TWRP Recovery 3.0.2 installed Official TWRP Recovery 3.1.1 is available now - check out this thread for download links
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT RECOVERY: Official TWRP now available
Procedure for getting root access:
1. Download Chainfire's SuperSU v2.78 SR5 [link] and store the zip file in the phone's internal memory or SD card.
2. Boot into TWRP recovery, navigate to the SuperSU zip and flash it, reboot after it finishes.
3. You should now see the SuperSU icon, open it and update the binary. Verify proper root with a tool like Root Checker.
Congratulations, you have successfully rooted your G800F! If you only want root - stop here, you're done.
Procedure for getting Xposed Framework:
1. After rooting your S5 Mini, download Xposed v87.1 built by wanam [link], Xposed uninstaller [link], and Xposed Installer APK [link]. Put all 3 files on the phone's internal memory or SD card.
2. Boot into TWRP recovery, navigate to the file named "xposed-v87.1-sdk23-arm-custom-build-by-wanam-20161125.zip" and flash it.
3. After the flashing is finished, wipe cache and dalvik then reboot.
4. Using a file manager, navigate to where you put the Xposed Installer APK and install it.
5. Open it and confirm that Xposed is installed properly.

When you flash the SuperSU observe the log during the process, does it reboot by itself after posting this?
Code:
******************
SuperSU installer
******************
- Mounting /system, /data and rootfs
- Extracting files
- Detecting system compatibility
If it reboots after this, turn off your phone and boot into recovery, go to "Wipe" and wipe cache and dalvik. Immediately after that try to flash the SuperSU again, if successful it should post this:
Code:
******************
SuperSU installer
******************
- Mounting /system, /data and rootfs
- Extracting files
- Detecting system compatibility
- System-less mode, boot image support required
- Creating image
- Mounting image
- Creating paths
- Removing old files
- Placing files
******************
Boot image patcher
******************
and then some more lines, at the end it should say "Done!" and then give you the option to reboot. Remember if the flashing is successful you should reboot manually, if the phone reboots by itself then the flashing failed.
Note that I always recommend to start with a freshly installed firmware i.e. wipe the entire phone, flash new firmware, flash TWRP 3.0.0 and then flash SuperSU.
Thank you very much for your instant support. I'm currently traveling and I'll try your solutions once I'm back home again. Then, I'll provide an update whether it works or not.

Does this root trigger the knox counter?
Hello, had the same problem . No root after reboot.
You need to use an older twrp.
With 2.8.1.0 it all works
i did it!
it works but you gotta have twrp 3.0.2-0 and then flash the zip file.
pop ups where blocked so i just changed it from always ask to always allow.
you gotta install twrp 3.0.0-0 and then flash the twrp 3.0.2-0 .img to recovery.
after that just flash the superSU zip and your done.
hope it works for you

It seems that the culprit for the failed rooting were the different versions of TWRP you were using. I will add links to 2 versions of TWRP and a note about this in the main post.
Can someone help me? I did it like in the tutorial but it does not work. Thanks all
