Is there any way to start copilot or Tom Tom instead of Google navigation when use Google map?
I don't think so. I can't see anyway you could do that.
I remember few years ago there was a button you could just click and run any navi app installed. Weird. It is almost like an apple now- forcing to use Google everywhere.

I apologize for being new to this, but how do you use the GPS? All I see is an app that just downloads the position setting?
Would the GPS app work around the world (map wise).?
GPS is used in applications like Google Maps or navigation software like TomTom or Navigon.
For example, start Google Maps and set "Activate GPS" inside the application. Then, your exact postition will be shown on the google map.
Be carefull: gps does not work inside of buildings.

Car Menu and Google Maps Navigation. When you are out and about, Galaxy S makes finding your way around fun, easy and efficient. In the car, put Galaxy S into its mount, and weather, view map, voice search and navigation icons are instantly displayed. The Google Maps Navigation application allows you to find your destination easily and quickly even through the most complex streets. As you make your way, Galaxy’s internet-connected navigation with voice command and preinstalled Google Maps, provides three different views. Real street view, traffic view and satellite view.

Am I the only person who gets "Navigation is not available in your area" when I load the navigation app? Samsung are selling the phone with navigation as a feature, one I intended to use which is disabled because?
I was under the impression that Google Navigation was only available in the US as of right now.

Its works in Canada.. Google Navigation has been working in Canada for about a year now.

There's no google Nav in aus yet as mentioned. Brut[maps] works, but be aware there are still some small subtle oddities (which don't really affect it's use), such as going the wrong way around on roundabouts (So if it says second exit, that might mean second exit counterclockwise, NOT the correct way).
Hi guys I have a question, does the google maps on your Streak have built in launcher to google navigation or is navigation a stand alone app?
For example if you search an address in google maps does it give you the option for both directions and navigation? or just directions?
Because I bought a Streak used, and the latter seems to be the case for me.
Thanks.

I do not have my streak on me at present but i am sure its the latter
stand alone app in launcher bud
Oh, I see, geez that sucks. Oh well, I hope 2.2 update brings lots of needed changes. I love the 5 inch screen, but really thats not enough.
It should be able to do both. When in google maps, hit menu, directions, choose a place hit go and screen will show up with directions and also "show on map" or "navigate"options to click on.
or you can use just the navigation app.
Google maps does have an icon which when you click will take you to a screen where you get options for navigation like voice, past trips etc. you can also place regular trips as icons on desktop

Agreed, navigation is an option on current google maps.
I have the navigation icon also.. remember that google maps will not update itself unless you visit market and install the latest version from there first..

The navigation button is enabled in google maps labs. It becomes an option on your icon along with call the icon.
Great if you are searching for a place you can just click navigate to get to it.
Also when directions are invoked in google maps it gives you the option, to use the normal map directions or navigation
The google labs options are good. It has layers button, measure tool etc

Thanks for the update. I pulled the battery and now it seems to work fine. Maybe i was installing and uninstall too many apps from the market?? Not sure but in any case its working now.
Google's NAV isn't in my apps. All my other apps came over fine. Is it part of MAPS now ? If not, which one do I download from PLAY ? Searching for NAVIGATOR brings up a lot of choices.

Hi, Everyone.
I just got a Panasonic ToughPad FZ-G1 for work/personal use and wanted to download a turn-by-turn navigation for it. For some reason, Waze was not available for download from the Market Place and all other navigation apps did not give you turn by turn navigation. I use google maps on my galaxy s4, and it gives you a turn by turn on the screen. Is there a way to download apps from windows phone store to the tablet to use? Is there an alternative store to windows store? Also, would you recommend any other apps to use with the ToughPad?
Thank you for your help.

I downloaded Here Maps. It shows a map, but does not do a turn by turn navigation, like tomtom or google maps on the whone or waze does.
Short answer: No.
Longer answer: Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 are not the same OS. You're doing the equivalent of asking whether there's a way to run iPhone apps on your Mac. Just... no.
Actual answer: I don't actually know of any turn-by-turn apps for "real" Windows. Most people use their phones for that...
Thank you for your response. Nice and clear.
