I always turn my phone on by pressing and holding my phone on the fingerprint sensor. Lately, I have noticed that it sometimes is very slow for my screen to come on. I did have Greenify installed with aggressive doze which I thought was causing the problem so I uninstalled it but it seems to still be happening. Does anyone have any ideas as to what else might be causing this to happen?

Hi All,
I have been having trouble with the phone.
The screen has been turning on by itself and not turning off. The screen will not turn off until i hit the power button. It will not turn off until the phone is out of battery.
Is anyone else having this problem?
thanks!
Want to bump this up ... having the same issue. I've uninstalled nearly every app (at least the ones I'd think would be problematic) and it's still happening. I've downloaded Spare Parts today to see if I could figure it out but I don't have enough data yet.
Anyone else have this issue? Even when I press the lock button, I sometimes need to press it multiple times to get the screen to turn off.
I too am having this problem and boy does it suck battery lol

Do you guys have power saving mode enabled or disabled? Just curious, since that's one of the only things (in addition to message notifications) that affects the screen.
can it have anything to do with automatic updates?
i never had this issue. before or after root. i just rooted two days ago
I had this problem before and after root. I also did a factory reset and I thought it was fixed ... but now it's doing it again.
Happens w/ Power Saving mode enabled and disabled.
I've figured out a semi-solution to this which seems to be working:
With Advanced Task Killer:
Enable Auto Kill Frequencey "When screen off"
Set Auto Kill Level to "Aggressive"
Set Security Level to "Medium"
Don't forget to put any apps you don't want killed in the ignore list (like WidgetLocker, your music player, etc.)
This seems to keep the screen locked for me ... but I still can't figure out what app/process is the culprit in waking the screen when it goes to sleep.
Wondering if anyone else is having this issue. My screen will dim randomly while in the middle of use and I have no idea why. I'm not talking about the auto-dim that occurs before the screen turns off. I also have auto brightness turned off. I seem to notice it happen right after pressing a hard key, like back or home. When it happens, it seems to un-dim itself after I long press on the screen or switch applications. It doesn't happen every time I use a hard key and it does happen when not using a hard key at all. It's not application-specific but it seems to occur often while using the Market and NewsRob.
For example, I'll be looking at an app in the market and right after I hit the back button to return to, say, search results, the screen will be noticeably dimmer. Normally long pressing or switching out of the app to something else corrects the issue, but I can't pinpoint exactly what causes it or what fixes it.
I downloaded the AdjBrightness app because it has the option to lock other applications from changing my set brightness level, but the issue persists.
Anyone else experience this? I'm on 2.2.1 (2.3.340) but I noticed it with 2.3.320 as well.
never had that issue, I'm on .340. sounds like a hardware issue. Just speculation though

everytime someone calls me, the screen stays black? then to ge the screen to turn on, i press the lock key and it siliences the call...
anyone else have this? wow..annoying for sure.
Definitely not normal... I had an issue with not being able to answer calls (screen turned on, but unresponsive) very early on, but it worked fine after a reboot. Haven't heard anyone else having the issue you're having and I know I haven't had that happen.
If you haven't tried a reboot already, you should probably try that... if you're still having the issue you might want to consider returning that one.

Great...i traded it with someone...
i did a factory reset (did not know i was going to loose root) and it runs soo much better. i wonder if SETCPU was doing it? or the keyboard i bought in the app store?
whatsapp does hiccup with the keyboard, so im sure its an app thing..
i find my phone does this once i have started using a bluetooth headset. even if i turn off the bluetooth and bluetooth headset my proximity sensor is screwed up until i reboot the phone.
i also have noticed that if i am on speaker phone and the screen times out i have to push the power button to wake it up (if i am still on the call and want to see the screen). there is a setting in the accessibility menu that can set the power button to hang up calls, so make sure that is not set

setcpu wasnt causing any problems for me
how low did u set it to with the screenoff profile ?
Hwy guys, I been having an issue with my screen where it would register a touch when there isn't actually anything.
I have pointer location turned and notice it occasionally, and when it does happen, they phone is pretty much unusable. I would have to hold the power button until it shuts down and restart it for it to go back to normal. The thing is that it happens really randomly and I can't seem to figure out what is exactly causing it. Could this be a software problem or maybe a bad ground/connection?
I'm on stock 4.2.2 with motley b42 kernel
Thanks!
So in BBS, whenever I have poor battery life, it's correlated with this obnoxious sensor usage from either Android or Google services. I noticed that a lot of times that I push the power button to turn my screen off and then move the phone, the phone gently vibrates and then lights the screen back up to the lock screen. I've tried toggling settings on and off everywhere. The only way this could be happening is with a sensor so I'm pretty sure this is correlating to that issue. Anyone seen this and have any ideas?
check "home button problem" post... your problem is the same...
