Wifi and Bluetooth settings only in English since update - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone verfy that there're some strings missing the German translation in the wifi and bluetooth settings since the March update? On my Nexus 5 everything is correct here. My Nexus 6P shows some things in English only. Of course my system langgauge is set to German (and tried to change it forth an back).
I looked for this issue on Google, but I couldn't find it anywhere else than on my device.
Wifi quick settings say "Connected" instead of "Verbunden", while in the normal settings section it says correctly "Verbunden". Same with bluetooth and the submenues of both.

Nobody? Can anyone please try to change the language to any other than english and see, if it still english in the mentioned places?

Thank you so much for your reply. I thought I was the only one who has or sees this bug.
But I wonder why there aren't hundreds or thousands of user reporting this bug.
I'm thinking about flashing back to the first image and update again to see if the bug appears again. At least it seems that not everybody has this bug.

Weird behaviour of the locale

I've found something interesting in the latest 2.1 and 2.2 MoDaCos.
I'm not using the English locale since 2.0 and what's weird is that some settings stopped working.
In particular, if I enable the mobile network setting, that has no real effect.
If i switch back to the English locale, then it works.
Same thing with spare parts-->animation.
Is there anyone noticing the same kind of issue?

Issues with XXJPH firmware

Hello all,
I'm aware that this might be better placed in the thread announcing the FW release itself, but there seems to be turning into wailing wall where ppl who raise issues but they're left unanswered (I asked the same questions there but in vain).
The issues / questions I have with wrt that realease
1) Serious issue: 3G data connection.
No matter what settings the phone does initiate a data connection -- I enabled "Use packet data", enabled "Data Roaming" (even if I'm in my home netw) and even set the network mode to "WCDMA only", but all to no avail: There is no 3G icon close to the signal strength bars in notification area and the the "Mobile Network State" in the Status is reported as "Disconnected" and the phone cannot connect to the data network
Everything worked perfectly fine in JM release.
2) The one click lag fix does not work on XXJPH
The one click lag fix linked from the first post in the release thread (namely this lag fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8223512) is, as per version 1.6.7 (which seems to be the last one) not relevant for XXJPH, but there are references to a "release 2" of the said fix. However, I cannot locate that .... Am I missing smth here ?
3) Input language selection.
There is a very limited set of input languages that can be selected. In particular, there is no choice for scandinavian languages (swedish / norwegian / danish). Can that be added ?
TIA for the feedback.
Florian
1) Have you set a valid APN in mobile connections?
2) I don't use a lagfix in JPH, its running very smooth and fast for me
3) no idea
I'm currently using 3G data and OCLF on my JPH.
Did you wipe your data/cache?
First and foremost, thanks for the quick input.
1) Yes, I did a data wipe / factory reset after flashing -- since that was what the FW instruction said (and it felt better that way)
2) Maybe this info is buried somewhere deep in the FW thread and I've missed it, but I haven't seen any instructions that I need to define an APN "manually" -- it all "just worked" in JM / JM1 without that.
Anyway, after you pointed that out I defined a new APN (took me a while to find how and what to set in there...) but now I got a 3G connection.
So many thanks for that.
The question on how to add additional input languages still stands.
Thanks again for the help.
What CSC file did you use?
Because I think the APN Settings are coming from the CSC, not the Firmware itself (PDA File).

Why do people always forget that Finland (and also Iceland) are a part of Scandinavia? Anyway good to know this.
What about bluetooth? I read in the other thread it doesn't work properly.
Bluetooth works fine
1) You don't have any APNs set up (well none the phone can use anyway) - that's why you have no 3G (or 2G) data. Search for how to configure APNs manually
2) OCLF (one click lag fix) works perfectly with XXJPH. Make sure you have correctly rooted your phone.
3) This is a development release, not one which has gone through all the localisation that a full release goes through.
Seen a lot of people having problems with one click lagfix. From my experience the only thing that stops it working is having apps moved to sd card, use app manager and make sure all apps are on phone then re run and it should work.
On the other issuse i haven't suffered from any of them

As I wrote in my previous post, as soon as someone pointed out that I need to configure the APNs I did that and now both Internet and MMS are working fine. However, I haven't seen anywhere mentioned that this was needed with this firmware version (and, again, this was never an issue with the previous versions).

Thats absolutely not true!!
For Scandinavien readers: "no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skandinavia"
For all others: "en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scandinavia"
The original and "true" term Scandinavia is only referring to Norway, Denmark and Sweden. Sorry You Finnish guys!

Thanks again.
Sorry for being so thick (well, I'm new to Android...) but it seems that in order to (re)mount the "/system" partition in read-write mode (where these files must go) I must root my device anyway...
Or is there any easier/simpler alternative ?
2) The one click lag fix does not work on XXJPH
- Your phone has to be rooted.
- If you use One Click Lag Fix v1.6.7 by RyanZA UNINSTALL all apps on SD card: Settings-> Applications->Manage Applications->On SD card->remove all apps (e.g. Google Earth, Angry Birds)
You can re-install the apps after you have applied the 'OneClickLagFix V1+"
I've done some more reading and fixing it does look like "Major PITA": One needs to root the phone and there are some instructions on how to root JPH at this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8157213&postcount=289.
Still, that doesn't look for the faint of heart (or for those who lack the time and/or will to go through the process, for that matter).
Moreover, since the official 2.2 release is due in 3 days, I guess I'l live with the JPH as it is on my phone wait for that instead.
Thanks to all that tried to help.
ONLY problem I have is wireless errors sometimes, but can be solved by turning WiFi on in actual settings menu.

Well, I have "issues" with that as well -- if the WiFi is turned on, then data network traffic goes through the WiFi instead of 3G (normal behavior). However, when the WiFi is turned off I need to toggle the phone on and off a few times before the 3G connection is re-established.
Anyway, hope that all that will be fixed in the official version...
Sometimes after cancelling calls my JPH just stays black screen ... need to pull the battery.
I found GPS really best through all builds ... but not satisfying. It gets a fix kind of quick but isnt very accurate :/
OCF, Bluetooth and swype are just working fine :> no issues there. Especially market is just cool ... no fix needed. Found flash and looks like all apps are there.

[Q] [Market]App description in wrong language

Hy
I just stumbled upon a problem. Some of the apps probably those that have multiple descriptions (in different languages) are in the wrong language (eg. Galaxy on Fire 2 is in German language).
The description is either in German, English, French or Russian which is odd because they are just fine on market.android.com and this didn't use to happen until I went on a trip to Croatia.
I don't know if that has anything to do with it but I have tried disabling GPS location, Wifi location (I cleared Market settings every time and closed it).
I've also used morelocale2 without any success.
Does anyone have any clue as to how to proceed?

I just bought the A500 last friday and also noticed this.
No custom rom or updates installed (no updates available for me in the Netherlands)
Any idea is welcome
The odd thing is that the languages are changing.
I just rechecked and my test subject (GOF2) is in Italian now.
have you got the location settings switched on? I have mine switched off and I am seeing these issues as well.
I have tried turning them off and every combination I could think of (wifi only, GPS only, both off, both on).
I get japanese every now & then, and i'm in Aus.
This seems to be a known problem with the new Market. I'm seeing the same thing on my Thunderbolt with 3.X Market(WP7 style)
Yup, me too
I'm seeing this as well. Only under Android 3 (it's fine on my N1 for example). Looks like languages shift, and are different for different people. I know that because I noticed it for my own app (which obviously worried me -- I thought I'd messed up somewhere), but an American user of my app (Photo Enhance Pro HD) sees Italian on her tablet, whereas I see Greek (and another language again on the free version of the app).
It looks to be recent? I can't see a reference to this problem before the 14th July, so hopefully it's a screw-up at the server end and can be fixed soon. If only contacting someone who could fix it wasn't so much a case of mentioning the problem on forums and hoping someone is listening...

Anyone using Llama with the S5

Many of my Llama rules don't get activated on my S5. If I run them manually the events seem to work well but the automation thing seems to be degraded. Not sure how to proceed with this. Maybe others are experiencing the same or have a fix for this? Please jump in if you have a good idea.
After all it might be a good idea to switch to tasker .. since that still seems to be supported well (Llama isn't .. I have never ever received an answer from the dev). A question that's worth asking in that context: Is there a converter that converts Llama rules to tasker out there?
I use Llama on following devices without trouble or errors:
Samsung Galaxy S5 / Android 4.4.2 & 5.0
Huawei G700 /Android 4.2.1
Huawei P8Lite / Android 5.0
Samsung Galaxy S4 / Android 4.4.2
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 / Android 4.4.2
Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 LTE / Android 4.4.2
Settings in Llama are a little bit difficult, but it works.
But i think my english (technical) is not good enough for help to find your setting errors. ?
MfG/best regards
René

I'm using Llama on my S5 too.
I use rules that i created on my former S3, exported them to my S5 and they mainly still work.
I have rules that switch depent from cells and also dependent from time.
What is you problem? Maybe i can help you?
I contacted the dev once but i got an answer in less then 30 minutes.
Edit: As i see there are newer version released than on the play store.

Hi Leute!
One example rule that is a probelm is to turn on GPS when a location aware app is in foreground. For example: Start GPS when Google Maps is launched. Used to work fine on Kitkat but not on Lollipop.
I can fire the rule manually but the OR rule with the app listing doesn't seem to fire anything.
Another example is a "lockscreen off" rule that doesn't fire. The preconditions are green but it doesn't work (doesn't appear in the log). When I fire it manually it appears in the log and it works.
Both rules call locale plugins but I don't think that is the problem. I'd expect the rule to be listed in the log file (chronic) even if the events don't work.
Cheers,
Daniel
That's a problem in Lollipop as i read on the dev's homepage.
http://kebabapps.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11/active-app-lollipop-fix.html
It seems Google changed something in the API to detect a running app. Therefore there might be some problems.
I just installed the most recewnt version of Llama from the homepage above and now i get an error messgae that there are problems with this too.
I use a similar rule as you, but i change the volume when i start a navigation software.
As soon as i start the app, the rule is applied, but it seems that there is istill a problem to switch back when i close the app.

[WORKAROUND] Waze storage issue

Hey guys!
Finally received my Nova and I was isntalling some apps it. I installed Waze just to see that it occupies 12 gig from my storage! WTF?! Hahahaha
Someone aware of this and how to solve it? For now, I just uninstalled it and downloaded just gogle Maps.
EDIT:
The problem seems to be related with specific language packs. For workaround this issue you must be rooted. Just download another language pack for your language (or another language that suits you), go to /data/data/com.waze/waze/sound/ and removes the folder related to the default language pack and see if it solves for you. For brazilian guys, Alessandra language pack causes this, now I'm with Mario language pack and I don't have the storage issue anymore.
EDIT 2:
It seems that waze download default voice pack everytime you reopen it, even if other is selected. Then the storage issue happens again. You just have to remove what it re-download
EDIT 3:
I just found out an ultimate fix for this bug. Inside the folder of the bug voice pack, there are some files with 0 B.
Go to the folder of the alternative voice pack you downloaded (if you don't, then do) and replace this 0 B with the other! BANG, PROBLEM SOLVED FOREVER (APPARENTLY)
Jup.. me to... I thought what is the cause of my low storage - BAM! Waze is taking 8.5gb of internal memory. Reinstalled but after some time the same.
Had 'B100' software, got OTA to 'B140' today now reinstalled waze, will see what will happen.

Your model is the european or the chinese? Mine is chinese, CAZ-TL10. Maybe there is something to do with this. Obviously it doesn't occupies this much, it is an error with reading app storage. For me, it become displaying the wrong storage after downloading voices.
I'm thinking in trying to installing the european firmware and see if things go better that way.

Strange because in my victara, waze is just fine. But I'll try to contact the team
I contacted Waze's team, but they verified that it wasn't waze's bug. In other words, it is a EMUI bug.

I'm on a LG G3, same problem here... So I thing it is a Waze bug.
OnePlus 3T here, Waze taking up ~10.5 GB. Cleared data and all, but after I signed in it went back to ~10 GB.
I have a workaround for this issue. Check the OP
Maybe if you report this "fix" to the waze team, they can figure it out what's wrong and fix it!

I have a Honor 8 and been having this issue as well. Since my phone isn't rooted the solutions I've found online haven't been applicable to my device. I emailed waze support team and they said they didn't have a permanent solution for this issue yet. However they asked me to help them out with some logs I debug mode. While I was doing this I managed to avoid the issue were waze starts to consume so much space. Try the instructions below and see if it works for you too.
1. Uninstall waze
2. Change your standard language on you phone to English.
3. Install waze, log in and leave it running.
4. While waze is still running, go to your phone settings again and change your default language back to what you prefer.
5. Manually change waze language to the same as on your phone.
6. Exit waze app and restart it. You should now have the your preferred language on both your phone and in the waze app and the storage waze consumes should not be more that around 150 MB.
Good luck and hope this can help some of you with this issue. Feel free to ask questions about this and I'll try to help out more (even though I'm just an ordinary user).
