mediaserver bug - Lenovo A6000/Plus Questions & Answers

I've been using mediaserver optimizer with xposed...had tried disabling mediaserver app...but nothing does work permanently.
After some time it again starts automatically when I open a media file and eats up the whole battery.
If anyone managed to solve this thing permanently... Please reply
And btw I've noticed that its usually the x265 mkv fikes that makes the problem worse.

Delete all .mkv video files, and problem will be solved

Does anybody have a solution...???

It always happens on Vibe UI and only solution I know is to delete mkv files

Not just in vibe. I've faced this on CM11, MOKEE and MIUI too.

Media Panel - Lag - Cpu Usage - Crash Bug (SOLVED)

UPDATE - Since this problem does not happen on firmware r1a i started cooking and after many cooked roms/oem packages mixing i found the file that is the cause for the problems i described here!!!
The new r2a HTCSrcFlt3.dll on the windows folder has some kind of bug that makes the media panel with some mp3 completely useless.
This mp3 is the perfect example. Anyone with a r2a original rom will have problems playing it. The panel will lag and if you forward the music to about 40min it will stutter !!
http://rapidshare.com/files/202091733/01-armin_van_buuren-76-int.rar
Replacing the HTCSrcFlt3.dll with the original r1a version the media panel no longer lags !! Perfect.
I hope it helps someone here that noticed what i described here.

Hi guys. I have with me a xperia with r2a firmware.
I have found that the media panel has some big problems. I have made 3 videos showing off that while playing a simple mp3 the interface becomes very very slow for about 1 min. If i pause the music it starts working ok. If i wait for about 1min the media panel starts working ok again.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVkzyU4n89I
Of course smt is very wrong here with the cpu usage. almost 90% cpu ?????? you can see that on the second video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnySXqS_P8Q
The 3rd video shows of a bug that makes the app crash needing a reset
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQ85U_mBO7k
I know that i can use 3rd app for listening to music but why can't just things work ok out of the box especially for a phone of this price ??
I'm i alone on this ???
All video are uploaded. Look at the second one for a better idea of what's happening.
i forgot to say that the crash happen mostly with big/long mp3 tracks
Can someone please test if the same happens ??
thank you all
just to say that i've email SE with this problem and i'm awainting response.
In the mean time, nobody else took 5 min to test if you have the same problem ??
thank you
You posted 4x in a row, why not 1 post and 3 edits?
My media panel has no problem at all. Did you try the R1A media panel yet?
I'm thinking either you've got bad media file you're trying to play, or there's something not entirely right with your software. A hard reset is always a great way to start.
thank you for your reply but it's not a bad media file. hard reset , clean reset you name it !
I've tryed pocketplayer and i have no high cpu problem. I think it's sad for this kind of phone. Also the a2dp bug reported by other user is not comfortable.
For your own test, you have here one of the media files that gives me problems.

Please, someone, explain why is this mp3 so special to make the media panel very slow/crash.
Thank you all

I could say "because it's 170MB and the music sucks" but that would not make things easier
I can't download your file due to a slow internet connection but I have 3 concert MP3 files on my phone, each has 200 - 300MB and I never had such problems with them. The player never crashed and never stopped. So it could really be the file itself (bad bitrate maybe?) or some software issue on you phone.
Sorry for cannot help you more.

Same file on HD - Cpu usage + streaming over bluetooth.
guys, after reflashing the rom to r1a version the problem does not appear, the media panel no longer crashes/lags.
But here comes a very cool thing.
I've tested the r2a rom with the old media panel and the problem still exits so i've reflashed the r1a rom but installed at the end the r2a media panel, an it almost works perfectly (still crashes when trying to see some mp3 info)but FINALLY no more lags. So after all it's some file that was changed on the r2a rom that causes the problem.
I would appreciate some help trying to find what is the cause/file(s) that is causing the media panel to work very bad on the r2a rom !!
Any one ?? Thank you !!!

MP3 files not playing properly in Windows Media Player

Hi All
I seem to have a problem with my new HD2 and am wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem please?
If I use the Sense UI music player all is fine if a little slow at times. Third party players such as Nitrogen are fine. However, if I simply go to file explorer and open a file the whole phone struggles terribly for about a minute and when it does eventually start playing the file with Windows Media Player it constantly freezes and stutters. After bit of investigation I have found that the player is taking over 90% CPU when doing this. I also notice that when it happens the player tries to to buffer but never gets past 0%.
Is anyone else having this problem please? Is it a known issue please? Vodafone said it was but I can't find anything that covers this exact problem. There is one similar problem but I doubt it is the cause. The process is quite involved to resolve that problem wants me to format my SD card which is why I haven't tried it yet. I have searched high and low but have not seen this problem anywhere else. Could this be a ROM issue that will be fixed by an update or hotfix? Or have I simply got a faulty phone?
Any ideas or suggestions please?
Many thanks in advance.
Regards,
Paul Lemonidis.
Hi Paul,
I have experienced exactly the same problem and found a way to solve it. I had over 500 MP3 songs in one folder on a microSD card. Playing them was terrible, the same problems you mention: stutter, freezing, buffering and the entire phone seemed to be unresponsive at times.
Then I played a very large MP3 file (about 1 hour in length) and I had no troubles at all. That surprised me, because I expected (because of the constant buffering) this would not play at all. What suddenly hit me was that this large file was the only MP3 file in a separate folder.
So I moved a couple songs (which stuttered very much) to another folder and they played without any problem.
The solution I used was this: I deleted the single folder with to over 500 MP3's and added the songs through the Media Player of my PC. This way, the folder structure in the music folder is: Artist/Album/Songs. So every single folder with songs contains only a few MP3 files.
After that I let the Media Player rescan the microSD card. All the songs were detected and they all play without any worry.
My question to you is: Do you also have a large amount of MP3 files in one physical folder? Then I bet you can use my solution, or at least devide the large amount of MP3 files over various physical folders.
Best regards,
Willem (Netherlands)

In regards wih the same I have tried a lot more options and then tried 50 folder with 10 songs each it now works fine but the continuty in playing songs over a long time say 5-6 hours is left to opt.

Sense Player / HTC Sense crash

Hello all,
I have a problem with the Sense Player. Since today the HTC Sense is crashing and restarting new if I go to the Sense Player. I have no music on my mobile. Do someone something know about that problem?
Edit:// I found the reason. There was a bad mp3 track on my storage card. After deleting it works fine.
I have this problem also, but the only way i can get around it is by deleting the Audiomanager_Eng in "Application Data\HTC".
...Can you explain what you mean by a bad mp3 file?

Most likely a corrupted or incomplete track. It happens often and can cause various issues with audio players.

Correct. There was a mp3 track about 700 kb on my storage card. This song was incomplete. After deleting this file everything works fine again.
Problem solved. Thanks

Thanks for your solution. I was searching around for several days and the only idea so far, other than deleting all audio files which did not help, was to hard reset. Deleting this folder solved the issue.
The problem is that I don't know the cause for the issue to happen. I did not find any "bad" mp3 file. Some folks are posting issues with ID3 identifacation or imbeved album art.
As my machine does not crash now, and knowing this great solution, I will try again.
Thanks
Zaruak

There is or are corrupt music or video files on the device that force mediascanner too keep scanning because they cannot be recognized or filed.
You could try installing startup manger (or some similar app) to disable mediascanning at boot and Rescan Media Root to enable mediascanning if needed.
Both are in Play.

Check this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050252
It works for me. i'm at 92% battery remaining after 14hrs of standy by (with wifi) now. :good: I've also launched Google Play music and Gallery just to see if it will actually kill it when not in use.
The media server used to take my battery 20% out only after 2-3 hours of stand by.
try it out
Doesn't have any solution ? I have tried delete all my media file (mp3, video, picture,...) and delete all storage but it still scan .When i reboot , it stop scanning but if i take a picture by camera , it scans again
bump

Requirements: Rooted phone WITH init.d support
How to install init.d support
Then use this media_kill zip file and the media server process will be killed every hour (it will not pause music, just kill when there is nothing playing).
And this will solve your problem... I've had it too with corrupt files etc...
Good luck!

i am using PA and Franco kernel , it enabled int.d script . I also flashed this file but it doesn't effect
Weird. Worked for me.. Do note that it only does this once every hour so you can still have the wakelocks just not as long.
Sorry that was my two cents
Media Scanner drains your battery becasuse youve either just downloaded a photo, copied music onto your device or videos, movies etc. so it keeps trying to scan them and think its corrupt.. kinda
so to overcome this, download this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.clypher.mediascanner
what you do is after copying or downloading any media file onto your device, open that app and refresh....
or better still add its widget to your homescreen and just tap.
This way, it refreshes your media library and media scanner wont deplete battery..
OR.. just reboot your phone.. but that app is way better than rebooting your phone all the time you add new media files to it.

Problem with video & audio

Hello,
I started having some strange issues with audio and video playback on my Nexus 6P. It seems that my phone has suddenly lost the ability to play any audio or video file. In Google Photos app if I try to play a local video file it just informs that the file cannot be played. If I try to shoot video using Google Camera it just informs that the connection to the camera is lost. I cannot listen to Google Music or even the system ringtones & notifications. Even the alarm clock starts without any sound(only vibration).
I don't know what exactly caused this. My phone is rooted and I'm using custom roms. Lately I've been using Pure Nexus and Substratum themes. I suspect that the problem started after switching the theme in Substratum.
I have already wiped my phone from recorery(TWRP) and clean installed the rom & gapps. That didn't seem to help so I clean installed another rom(Nitrogen OS). I still seem to have the same issue.
Could this be hardware related issue? Any ideas?
