I'm looking to get into the cheapest what I'll call 'wake-up phone' I can get. My regular phone gets calls all the time so when I go to sleep I put it on silent. In case of an emergency I need a second 'wake-up phone' for my close friends and family to call to wake me up. This second phone would never get any talk time put on it as it would only be used to wake me up, at which point I would revert to my regular phone. Actually I had a pre-paid phone like this for a number of years through boost. It only cost me $5 every 90 days to keep it active. That was the minimum amount to keep an account open, and the re-boosts bought online were good for 90 days. Since I forgot and let my service lapse they won't let me get back into it now, said I was grandfathered into that 'plan' since I opened the line a few years ago. Now they say I have to start a $35/mo plan to get back with them.
Anybody know how I can get back into boost or any other similar pre-paid phone deal for as cheap as I used to have?
Or if there's a better place to ask this question please direct.
Thanks

I'm starting to get frustrated with this model.
I purchased the phone so I could stay in touch with friends & family...and the phone is just erally unstable. All I want to do is somehow trade my phone for a phone that I know WILL work(such as a sidekick 3). I've called TMobile & all they will do is send me yet another mda(this is my 3rd one in the mail now), or make me buy the sidekick for 450 bux and keep mine in a box.
I personally don't see how 14 days with this phone will allow you to truely put it through its tests. Not until I was out of state, did I realize how poor this phone is.
Can anyone offer assisstance...maybe a place to sell this one?
Hard Resets have been done. Again, I've already had the phone replaced.
Text messages freeze my phone, Internet Explorer makes it sluggish, Forget about putting other programs on it. Its just a shame, that I TRUELY need this phone to stay in touch. And all i get is a bunch of replacements of the SAME PHONE.
I think it would make more sense to save THEIR money...and give me something that would end all of this trouble.
Even if it means I have to pay the difference...just not the total cost

are you just using all the stock settings?
okay i been having issues with my epic
1. over heating when back to stock and still getting same problem
i mean i don't even use the phone an nothing
2. some parts of my screen are dead no response i have to tap a few times to get to work.
3. calling i cant hear people and people cant hear 6-10 calls are like that.
4. keys are skiping and or dont respond at times.
5. i get roaming warnings when im in a full coverage area.
well i call sprint they send me to a repair center, the first time they did a hard reset and blah blah long story short work for 2 days booomb happens all over again. then again send me to a new repair center they say were going to replace screen blah blah again long story short, again same issues this time roam is getting out of hand.
now question is how can i get sprint to switch my phone for a new one? im tired of wasting my time going here and there for a fix that doesnt fix anything. last rep told go back an let them know what its going on with the phone an they will fix it. what can i do ? what can i say to have them understand
that its not getting my problem fix.
ps im sorry if this has been ask or answered. and my grammar it sucks i know.
I thought they had a policy if you return it for the same problem 4 times they will replace it. Go back to the store and ask for a supervisor.
either get a supervisor involved, or find the customer retention line and give em a call. just gotta complain to the right people to get a replacement..
My wife has been having similar problems with her Epic. First, it would delay connecting on outgoing calls for 30 seconds or so. She got a replacement phone from the local Sprint repair center. The replacement eventually had the same issue. I rooted it, installed a new ROM, and for a while it seemed OK. Then, it stopped allowing her to answer incoming calls. Tried a new ROM. Same problems after a day or two. At some point, she started having issues with SMS, also (replies to texts she received wouldn't be delivered - she had to start fresh by composing a new text instead of replying, and even then, I think some would randomly just not go through). Eventually, the phone would refuse to wake after the screen went to sleep without a battery pull. So, I ODIN'ed back to stock, and took it to the Sprint store. I described the issue in detail. They played around with it for a while, and eventually told me it was working. I told again them that the problem never manifested unless it had been "asleep" for 5-10 minutes, and asked if they'd let it sit that long. The answer was no, so we let it sit for a few minutes, go to sleep, and then tried waking it up. Didn't work. So, they took it into the back again and replaced the screen.
That replacement eventually had screen troubles, where the screen would freeze and get all distorted with multicolored lines running through it whenever the keyboard was opened. So, they replaced the screen. The replacement screen has issues with the front "menu" capacitive button, and takes a lot of tapping/sliding/long-pressing to bring up the menu.
Now, she's getting the incoming call problems as well, and it's on a completely stock, unrooted. I think they may finally be about ready to give her a new model, but from what the guy at the store told her, it sounds like they'll only give her a new phone at upgrade pricing, not just swap it out. Hopefully, they'll at least let her get the new-ish Epic Touch, and the bugs are gone. I might try to steer her into something HTC instead, as I've had an EVO 4G for about a year and a half, and I still love it, except if they make her extend her contract, I don't want her stuck with a single-core phone for that long.
I/we are at the point where the phone is more trouble than it's worth, and while the staff at the local Sprint repair center are very pleasant, and seem to actually care about what they're doing, it seems like they just keep giving her the same phone back with a few parts swapped, or they really just don't know how to recreate the issues we describe to them, and thus can't diagnose the problems & fix them.
So a few days ago, I got a Droid X through NoMoreRack.com (well, my girlfriend did, for me) for about 70 bucks, And Verizon rejected to activate it. Claiming that the device is Reported Lost/Stolen (AKA a Bad ESN). And when I told my gf, she got really pissed and wanted to return and exchange it, but then she'll get a device with a ACTUAL screwed up esn (youll see why its not Actiual) So to save stress. I went and emailed Motorola then I did a live chat with 3 different people, that is then when i am told to do a system update (2/3 times) 1st time after they said to do so, i left, the chat and realized that the System Uptades button was grey (i was on wifi and had my google account set up) then the second time i was told that the esn was fine, then the last time they said to call, But i have no time to. And now im stuck. Any help?

updating is not going to change the esn, and verizon is the only carrier that is going to care, the esn is blacklisted on their system. easy way to check the esn go here http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/nso/enterDeviceId.do
and find Enter your Device ID to check eligibility.
I bought a Tmobile G2 from a guy on Swappa. It shows its got a clear ESN. Even called Tmobile and they show its clean and clear and even gave me the unlock code for the phone.
But when I call or even go into MetroPCS to activate the phone they say that Tmobile shows a hold on it from Balance Due. I stayed in the Metro storeyesterday for over an hour with tmobile rep on the phone with us saying the phone is clear and paid off. But yet MetroPCS cannot activate on their service becuase tmobile shows balance due in their system.
No one knows how to "bypass" this issue at either metro of tmobile. I was in a corporate office for metro which the techs on their phone support said they could fix it. they couldnt fix it. so now I have to wait till their "corporate office of the corporate office" on friday IF i can get some time away from work to do so. and they MAY be able to help me out. I love the phone but this has been a headache since i got it in the mail. I'm waiting on the seller to get back with me cause tmobile claims the "original owner" or last number active on the phone needs to call them to see if theres any other issues on the account. but with the holidays who knows when that will be.
Has anyone else ever had this issue? anyone out there work with either company and know what can be done?
Hello,
I think my topic title is pretty self-explanatory. However, here it goes....
I somehow put my phone on top of my visor in my car. This is a place I have never placed my phone before. I am not sure how I ended doing that. I parked my car and went to work. When I got to work, I couldn't find my phone. I retraced my step back to my car, and I couldn't find the phone. I called it from my work phone, and of course I couldn't find it since I was at my desk. I attempted to use Android Device Manager to locate the phone, and the phone showed as "unavailable." I am not sure why, and since I had lost my phone at work about four months ago, I came to the conclusion that I must have left/dropped it somewhere between leaving my CAR and getting to my desk and someone found it. This person did not intend to return it, so he/she turned the phone off.
I filed a lost/stolen claim with Asurion, and the claim was approved. Asurion already shipped the phone. When I got off work and got to my CAR, I then noticed that my phone was on top of the visor. There is nothing wrong with the phone, and it is basically only less than four months old. I want to keep my phone. I have spent the past hour researching what happens when you find your lost phone that you already filed a claim for, and I did not really find my specific scenario. One thing is clear: the "lost" phone legally belongs to the insurance company and must be returned if/when found.
However, here's my concern: although I am getting an upgraded model (I have the Note 4, and I am getting the note 5), I don't really want the new phone since I have found my phone. However, I do not want Asurion to impose keeping my $200 bucks and having me return a perfectly good phone with no issues. I want to "reject" their new phone, since I have not received it, get a refund, and continue using my phone. However, based on what I have read so far, once a phone is reported as stolen, the ESM is deactivated and blacklisted (sometime, that is not really the case from what I have read), I may not be "able" or "allowed" to keep my phone and must keep the new one I have not received or used (by the way, it should already be activated when I do receive it). I really want to keep my phone.
I understand that Asurion would be the one who can address my concern, but I am wondering if anyone has been in my shoes. I am not talking about finding your phone after you've received the new one AND used it. I am talking about even before you receive the new phone... and when you do receive the new one, you do not use it.
Thoughts?
It appears that I was concerned for no reason. I called the ins co, and I was told all I needed to do is refuse the package when it gets to me, and I should be fine. I tried making calls, and I wasn't able to. So, I called Sprint and I was able to take care of that without speaking to anybody.
The insurance company did tell me that they won't clear my ESN until they receive the refused phone. Hopefully, I won't get into a battle with them about the bill, which I was told would be getting rid of after they receive the package.
