Is it possible to flash a radio.img file within TWRP and if so, which partition should it be flashed to?
No, it isn't.
yes I'd like to know that as well. the newest update 3.xx whatever version it is. I can't seem to find definite instruction on where it should be flashed to.

is this done via fastboot? and how? any links would be appreciated.
You can download the latest bootloader and radio here. Latest bootloader is 3.51 and latest radio is 3.61. Put both files in the platform-tools folder and flash via fastboot like you did to flash the custom recovery but using these commands:
Code:
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-angler-angler-3.51.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio radio-angler-angler-3.61.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
I flashed custom recovery via wugfresh's tool kit. but thank you for the link and instructions.

You really should not rely on a toolkit to take care of things like this, a good knowledge of how to use fastboot is a basic essential if you're modifying your phone.

You don't necessarily need the same radio/bootloader combo, but it's not a bad thing to have both of them updated to the latest versions as having the latest radio should keep your phone well connected to your wireless network and having the latest bootloader can prevent issues on certain ROM's, specially stock ones.
The vendor image is completely unrelated to the radio and bootloader but each time there's a new system update, the vendor image can change and if you don't flash the one corresponding to the ROM you're using you will get the annoying vendor image mismatch every time you boot up the phone.

That's the one I just DLed and will try tomorrow.
ETA, I flashed this one, earlier this morning. So far, no change.

hey, everyone..... I have an idea for those LOCKED phones whose system version is 9.8.1Q-78-1 to update to the latest OTA(94-1)。。。。
here is my idea:
First, we need an unlocked phone which system is the latest version.
Then, use safestrap to backup the system
Last, all locked phones(!!have rooted!!) install safestrap and restore the backup package
My Phone version is 9.8.1Q-78-1
So 。。。Will this idea work out?
Im not really sure but from what I gather on all that I've read the new update had a different kernel.... Since the device is locked and uses the stock kernel safestrap doesn't flash that partition so it wouldn't work... But I still consider my self a noob with all this so I don't really know...

Your boot (kernel) , bootlogo & recovery are locked.
How to go to stock OxygenOs from rooted along with stock recovery and relock bootloader ?
Considering the fact that you have already Flashed TWRP and have Bootloader Unlock, follow these steps :
Flash Official Oxygen OS (2.1.0 - Latest ) using TWRP.
After Successful flash, tap something similar to "Don't Disable Recovery Flash"
Reboot in fastboot mode.
Using Fastboot, type in this : " fastboot oem lock"
Reboot
???
Profit!
I verified this works.
Thank you

Same regarding stock recovery. The TWRP feature that asks to "Disable..." is only available on non-official TWRP. Most of us are using official TWRP that does not ask you about it.

Hi,
I want to sell my opo2 and that is the reason that I want to go back to stock rom (Oxygen OS 3.6.1,stock recovery, oem lock,etc.). Where can I download the stock recovery for the Oxygen OS 3.6.1 or do I have to install an older version of the rom? At this time I have installed the Oxygen OS 3.6.1 with the newest twrp.
Thanks for your help.

No with TWRP, you need to get stock recovery or just wait to somebody release the 6.0.1 rooted already.

If bootloader is unlocked, you can flash new firmware to your phone. Make sure all driver are installed (Motorola Devices Manager, Google usb driver). You also need newest fastboot command.
About firmware, you can find Retail India (Asia) single or dual SIM in General section. And here, you can find the instruction to flash firmware via fastboot, too.
There's one thing you should take attention: the modem (non-hlos.bin) must be flashed twice (1st flash will show error, 2nd flash will succeed).
After flash without any fail, you should enter recovery mode and do a factory reset, cache wipe.
Do it at your own risk.

Not at all, bro. I've flashed almost regions to my XT1572: retla (ds), reteu, retus, retasia (ds). Modem was always the problem between these regions, therefore, I think retcn also needs 2nd flash.

Yes, it is. If no fail happens, you will run on 1572 ROM. I sometimes flash US ROM to my 1572 and it runs normally. Read and do it carefully.
