No issue here. Looks like you're using some resources heavy apps like Facebook . Try an alternative app for facebook and disable it.
Sent from my SM-G935T using XDA-Developers mobile app
You don't need to disable Facebook. I use the Facebook app all the time and can get over 7 hours SOT on a regular basis.
Try clearing the cache and do a Factory reset. When you're doing the phone set up make sure you opt out of all diagnostic reporting to Google and Samsung. That should fix your issue. Also have you installed the recent update Tmobile pushed out yesterday?

After the latest update I've noticed android system and Android os are using a little less battery. But as of this screen shot I just took 5 min ago, almost 22 hours total time and almost 7 hours SOT
Facebook is well known for being a big battery consumer.

I you have wifi at your job try this, put phone in airplane mode, use wifi and also wifi calling, I work at a big box store and I do this because if I didnt I would be searching for signal all day. I regularly leave work for the day with 85% battery left.

Because your phone will still use cellular data, even when you are on wifi, just try it for a day and see if it improves, it not you can go back to how you are doing now.

I did exactly as you did but I also restricted background data to most apps under settings >data usage.. also be sure you have VOLTE calling turned off under phone settings. I get about 24 hrs with 7 to 7.50 hrs sot
After latest update (PC8) battery life tanked. Clearing system cache in recovery has solved this problem for me.

I had a similar problem last 48hours, I put it down to a launcher I was using (KitKat one from Play store) - sure enough that's what it was for me. so switched back to TW
Just restart your phone and see if it makes difference?

I had the same problem and it was only fixed temporary by restarts. Since i turned off the advanced wi-fi option "keep wi-fi on during sleep", everything works like a charm. It seems there is a problem with the (deep) sleep states. I am on the newest firmware (rooted, knox 0x0) btw and Android OS went from 60% to 10% battery usage!
So in case the problem returns, try it... You might have a little bit more mobile traffic depending on your apps and configuration, but hopefully this will get sorted out with a new firmware.
I've had the same problem for some time.
curiously enough, I found that turning location services ON fixed the problem.

Thanks for all the replies. Wakelock Detector blames the "Android OS".
I've turned off location services, advanced Wifi on when charging, done a factory reset, wiped the cache, disabled Google backup service. The "Android OS" is still by far the largest battery hog.
I really wonder!

Here is what i am trying now... Maybe you do the same.
Charge battery up to 90%
Remove the battery and keep it aside for a while, say 10 mins
Plug it back in and charge to 100%.
I discovered mine was due to a custom kitkat launcher from the play store. Soon as I ditched it, the OS drain vanished.

which one.?
KitKat Launcher+ by Bjorn Vermeule
JellyBean is by far the most horrible thing I have had in mobile history. A firmware that just relentslessly drains battery by default.... even if you close everything... You can restart and it will work for very short time. but no matter what it will go back to staying awake all the time. I even removed things like facebook, im stock for the second time and all it takes is a charge over night unplug and then its **** again, restart many times during day untill it settles, it then works again at evening, you put it in charger and next day its **** again....
It simply dosent matter what you do, it's broken. Contacted samsung aswel and only solution I got was "We hope kitkat will fix it" as they were aware of the problem.

Generally though if Android OS is higher than your screen on time then you have a wakelock issue. I know without root it'll be a little harder to fix the issue at hand though.
I'd at least look into WiFi settings and turn Always Allow Scanning to Off. Then maybe look at your GPS settings and try the battery friendly mode or GPS only mode. I also don't allow Google to use your WiFi for better location results. There have been similar bugs reported with 4.4 here is some info and afew people trying to squash the issue on a Nexus http://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus5/comments/1y96zm/battery_drain_caused_by_android_os_possible/
You boys need root!

Also you can try changing the "keep WiFi on during sleep" to either off or only when plugged in. That may help. Just suggestions that's all. Maybe something here will help somebody.

You also have to remember how much Samsung based apps are running in the background at all times. Figure the pedometer in S-Health, any kind of airview, or S-This S-That when the phone is on. That is probably part of the cause. I do say i see it too but i wouldnt say my battery is exactly bad because of it.

Thank you for those tips! I didn't know about that wifi one. I immediately unchecked always scanning. I keep my wifi on to make sure I use wifi, if available, but I don't need it always scanning. I hesitated on the gps switch, but I figured I'll try it on power saver and see what happens.
Edit:
After turning off wifi scanning, that's what I got. That looks better to me. Although my usage time is lower than my previous screenshot, I started my day at 90% (forgot to charge last night, and that's as high as I could get it before leaving for work), and I'm using my phone more today.

There's another thread on this. It's happening to a lot of people, including me.
I was always getting max 2 hrs SOT, everytime same set up of apps, including chrome from gapps.
Otherday i saw someone mentioning that getting rid of chrome and using firefox boosted battery life.
Guess what i did, got rid of chrome and installed firefox.
I am on Krexus and franco kernel and I am already seeing increased battery life, will update this thread with SOT and battery results as I get more hrs down, but thought may help other people.
I'm always saying that. Never use Chrome and Facebook app if you want long battery life.

Definitely comes down to app usage.
Some apps use hardly any battery and toss off SOT. Myself I'm at 50% running stock, stock kernel and xposed+GB and my SOT is just under 4hr

2700mAh vs 3000mAH is not much. But that much difference in SOT with almost same usage?! I think samsung's power management is better than stock Android. Galaxy S7's screen has more pixels than Nexus 5X but LED screen consumes less power also so that's a + point for S7.

I don't see what's wrong with this. Bad signal kills battery pretty quick. I have terrible signal at my work desk and the battery drains quickly.
I have had my phone for a new months now and have noticed an incredible amount of heat. So I started to use CPU-Z to monitor temps.
When idle, the phone sits anywhere between 32-45 degrees C. Under load, using the camera, using navigation, or during gaming, I feel the phone rapidly gaining heat. I've seen it got as hot as 70-80 degrees C. A few times the right side of the phone gets so hot that the right aluminum edge feels like it could burn my hand if I touch it for longer than 30 seconds.
At first I thought this could be a firmware issue so I've factory reset the phone multiple times, cleared the cache, and done everything I can think of. The problem persists. Is this how all Snapdragon variant S7 Edges are, or is mine a lemon? If you could please post your idle temps and temps after 15-30 minutes of high load, I would be grateful.
Mine gets warm but never that hot. It is usually inside a case. I notice it gets the warmest under quick charging conditions.

I was in the same boat, root wasn't for me, this time, around since the phone got crazy hot. Half the time I couldn't receive calls unless I reboot the phone every few hours. Flashed back to stock and took the new wifi calling update and advanced messaging and the phone is working great now.
It's pretty common to be that hot with engboot it seems. See this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...-t3411039/post67605246?nocache=1#post67605246
It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Actually good, I thought it was going to be worse.

Not good iff you compare with s8plus,
Huh... That's about the same as the Nexus 6p I guess. Not thrilled

I can work with that...I usually turn off a lot of stuff I don't use and keep my screen at a brightness that I need, not want. I also disable apps that I don't use...this will be awesome
I actually read that wrong, that's much better than my 6p

After applying disable package? what is that?
After a couple of days, minimal packages disabled, Screen brightness average 75% (half the time 50, half at 100%), Resolution at Max, video enhance On, gps on a little, Hotspot on for about an hour, Bluetooth controller/mouse/keyboard on for about an hour. Pretty impressed! I'm going to disable LOTS tomorrow and see how much better I can get. One thing I noticed, I barely had AOD on today, but yesterday had like 8%, hope they can fix that. Nearly 10% of my battery for AOD is CRAZY!
This is my battery life today. Very impressed better than my note 7 and my LG V20.

Ha ha I am not paid. I really didn't think it would be this good. And I don't have the screen turned down about 85%. I turned off some apps from running in the background. My Bluetooth stays on all the time because I use it in my car and to get in my house. That was day 2 let's see how day 3 goes. I have never gotten this good of SOT on any phone. 3 to 5 at the best.
