I was always getting max 2 hrs SOT, everytime same set up of apps, including chrome from gapps.
Otherday i saw someone mentioning that getting rid of chrome and using firefox boosted battery life.
Guess what i did, got rid of chrome and installed firefox.
I am on Krexus and franco kernel and I am already seeing increased battery life, will update this thread with SOT and battery results as I get more hrs down, but thought may help other people.
I'm always saying that. Never use Chrome and Facebook app if you want long battery life.

Definitely comes down to app usage.
Some apps use hardly any battery and toss off SOT. Myself I'm at 50% running stock, stock kernel and xposed+GB and my SOT is just under 4hr

I have just used Facebook through the browser for years. Their app is a battery hogging bloated mess.
I get 5hrs avg SOT on my S7. And i use facebook and Google Chrome alot. But with same usage i only get 2hrs30m max SOT on N5X. Why is that?

2700mAh vs 3000mAH is not much. But that much difference in SOT with almost same usage?! I think samsung's power management is better than stock Android. Galaxy S7's screen has more pixels than Nexus 5X but LED screen consumes less power also so that's a + point for S7.

Or you can try Swipe for Facebook if you want. It has the messenger in the app as well. By far this is one of my favorite third party facebook apps of all time. Plus, the developer's support is awesome, it's very fast.

I don't see what's wrong with this. Bad signal kills battery pretty quick. I have terrible signal at my work desk and the battery drains quickly.

yes, disabling all things that make the phone a smart phone will extend the battery life...but then you may as well have a nokia 7730 (Battery life was a week)

Facebook was the only thing I disabled because of wakelocks, I disabled the others cause I don't use them.
Apologies, I was being mischievous, but it is more than obvious that if you disable all the interactive services you will make the battery live longer, so I don't see the need for a thread giving this as advice..
Normal use (using browser a lot, playing music, Facebook, 4G on) I get 5h+ screen on. This phone is a beast battery department.
My S4 had troubles topping 4h screen on (pacman rom though) don't remember stock roms, but still couldn' possibly beat this.

I don't know what you people are doing, but my Z1 can handle easily 5h screen on and still have 20% or more battery left.
I'm not playing games though... but with phone calls, hangouts, gmail, drive excel editing, Sketch drawings, some google+ and facebook, twitter, pocket, etc plus web browsing with WiFi on I have to really push it so it doesn't last whole day. with normal use it's usually around 2 days untli I have to charge it.
Stamina activates on my phone at 85% battery level, low power mode kicks in at 15%.
Greenify!! The one stop solution for wakelocks that cause battery drain!! You have to be rooted though.
Cheers!!

So when will we get to see how amazing your battery life is ?
Your on screen times have to rival the best ones in the screen on time thread.
Just wondering if anyone has tried running their One M8 in High Performance Mode 24/7. I noticed that cores are still disabled and clocked down when not in use while High Performance Mode is enabled, so I don't think it will use as much battery as everyone thinks. The governor just seems to be more aggressive at clocking up under load. I'm guessing 30 minutes to an hour less screen on time. I enjoy the smoother scrolling in some apps that it provides, so I'm going to try keeping it on and see how my battery life is.
Thoughts? Anyone attempted this before?
Unless you don't play any games or benchmark the phone you shouldn't really get some benefits of that...also questions should be placed in Q&A !
This mode is just meant to be used for games and benchmarks
But I do see the benefits of it without playing games or running benchmarks... Scrolling in some apps is noticeably smoother.
And I was hoping for more of a discussion, not just an answer, as I will post my findings and would like to hear the thoughts and findings of others.
I'm running it today just to check... Normally, I'm getting ->

Only an idiot could believe some adult, working, family man would leave his phone screen on all day

Thats great!
If your usage is not heavy, neither mode should matter much.
I checked my processor states, and nearly all the main time, 3 cores were parked, 1 running 300-645MHz.

All around the web I have seen people advising not to use High Performance Mode for anything but benchmarks because it uses a lot of battery, but it looks like those statements are all completely false. It uses a little more battery, but not a lot more, and it's certainly feasable to leave High Performance Mode enabled all the time. I still got great battery life.
On to the results. Nearly 17 hours on battery, with 7 hours of screen on time. More setup details below.
-Completely stock Sense 6, 4.4.3 (2.22.1540.3). No root, no custom kernel.
-Google Now enabled
-"Ok Google" from any screen enabled
-Blinkfeed enabled (with FB, Twitter, G+, and Insta as sources)
-GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi always on
-Pebble smartwatch connected
-Auto brightness set to 50%
-Spent most of the day on Wi-Fi, except for when I went out for about an hour
I used my phone a lot more than I would in a typical day to deplete the battery and get some results, so it will definitely last me more than a full day in High Performance Mode with my normal usage.
Interesting. Going to try this myself. I'm not a HEAVY user, so I'll leave it always on for now and see how it affects battery.

Hi guys,
From your experience, which rom is providing the best battery life so far? I've got my S7 for a week now and not really impressed with its battery.
Thinking of rooting to be able to monitor wavelocks and hopefully improve this so your feedback would be very helpful!
Thanks

There is no straight answer to this, every rom has its own pro's and cons.
This also determines on your on personal usage, e.g number of apps, backround services , wifi....etc.
I personally use Echoe Rom, it is the best i have used in terms of performance and battery. Brilliant Developer , with faster than lighting updates.
Try out a few and test , see what suits you.

I just registered on their forum, waiting to be approved. From the youtube video I saw, it looks quite nice. It was in another language but lots of eye candy for the initial install. If you register, they suggest using your xda username as well so they can look you up I guess. I am looking forward to trying this rom though. Thanks again for the suggestion.
For the Exynos version, try the stock G935FXXU1APC8 (for Edge) or G930FXXU1APC8 (for regular S7) rom, that it the best for battery life.

After a couple of days, minimal packages disabled, Screen brightness average 75% (half the time 50, half at 100%), Resolution at Max, video enhance On, gps on a little, Hotspot on for about an hour, Bluetooth controller/mouse/keyboard on for about an hour. Pretty impressed! I'm going to disable LOTS tomorrow and see how much better I can get. One thing I noticed, I barely had AOD on today, but yesterday had like 8%, hope they can fix that. Nearly 10% of my battery for AOD is CRAZY!

18hrs 4.5hrs SOT at 13%.
This is with a custom rom, after this first test, I turned off wifi scanning.
and put battery saving from 15 % to turn on at 25%, also, I set the screen to use half the pixels while on battery saving, I'm hoping to reach around 5 hours SoT with around 24 hours of standby.
Should be doable?

this is taken today, i am on stock with last sec patch, bat saver is set down from 15% to 5% but its just for disabling led to turn on, i never use battery saver.
Yeah, about normal SoT, but it depends on what apps you use, what number of them are running in the background etc. To me both of OP and Nikola_zr are pretty much standard SoT and overall battery life.
I was able to get this out of it, I'm quite happy.
As you can see I'm a heavy youtube user, I watch videos while I'm answering messages, or surfing Facebook.

To be fair the app itself isn't really much of an impact, but the screen being on during that app. YouTube won't actually use much because we have a dedicated video decoder hardware.
You would find that 90%+ of that YouTube usage is screen on time while YT was in foreground.

If you're in oreo, this battery life is pretty normal. Why? There's only 4h on screen time, whereas Android oreo has (in this moment) the more enhanced deep sleep, being off-screen almost doesn't take battery life. This is why you got 23h withou charging.
Check out what I think a good battery life is like:

Agreed. Facebook app is a huge baterry drainer (trust me, I had a Zenfone 5, I NEEDED TO BACKUP BATTERY lol). So, since Zenfone I found out that stock Facebook app eat a bunch of battery (even if backgrounding), I started to use Web version and now FBLite wich does pretty much the same as the stock FB app, but almost without draining battery.
Tip: use FBlite and be happy

FB uses a lot on low RAM devices I've found, but on Mi A1 it doesn't seem like too much. If you turn off all notifications and video autoplay, anyway.
I've tried all the alternative FB clients and they're pretty crap compared to official app. None of them remember the news feed position you're at if you go in to comment on something, for example. It always reloads.
