Hi guys,
weird thing happened (at least weird for me ) today. It's probably some software issue, nothing serious I hope, but i'd rather confront it with my knowledgeable friends here
So here's the sequence of events... Yesterday i fully charged my s7 edge, powered it on, played with it for an hour or so (which left me with 94% of battery life) and then powered it off completely. I woke up this morning, switched it on and under Settings/Battery/Battery Usage I noticed that the screen showing the stats "reset" itself. What I mean by that is it shows no battery usage from last night. Obviously that happens when you power it on (starting a new cycle) after you charged your phone, which in my case was last night...
Any idea what could cause that? Have any of you had ever similar issue?
Thanks in advance for your insight guys!
You played for an hour and your battery dropped only 6%? How ??

"Played with" as in light using ( bit of browsing + Youtubing ) NOT like played a game for an hour mate! . Plus screen wasn't continuously on for an hour.
Thats normal. If the battery is above 90% and you restart your phone, it will reset the stats
So let me get this straight. You browsed the Internet and You Tube for an entire hour and only managed to use 6% of battery?

It's really beside the point but I'm gonna straighten this out for you my friend... YES to "You browsed the Internet and You Tube " NO to " for an entire hour ". WITHIN that hour I did some browsing+youtubing but don't know what my stats were during that hour . I definately WAS NOT continuously using it for an entire hour

Sorry to bring up an old post, but do you know if this same behavior is tied to plugging the phone into a computer? I have noticed a couple of times recently that my battery stats reset after plugging into my computer to get a couple of pictures off. Both times I was above 90%. This also happens in GSAM.

Try it yourself, charge your phone and before taking it off the charger you will still have thae last cycle details and graph in usage..
And if you look at the screenshot, it clearly says "Battery used by the display and backlight" .....

How do you get your Android OS to be so low. My note is always around 25% to 30%. Do you think I have something running that's draining my battery? I do know that I'm not getting anywhere near the battery life you guys are saying you are getting.

he could have disabled all animations, force-closed processes, etc.
I have bluetooth running eight hours a day, streaming music for four to five of those to it, at least three to four hours of reading massive PDFs (textbooks), ppts, and word documents, WIFI on whenever available, etc.
I've gotten 10-13 hours without too many issues. The 10 was with a LOT of screen time, wifi or data running always, and bluetooth running always.
It also depends how you charge your battery. I make sure to fully charge my battery, and then run it into the GROUND (eg note powers off completely) before I plug it back in. Every time. You get maximum capacity that way, there's a name for this, but I can't remember what.
Anyway, battery 101. Kill processes, disable unneccesary services, use WIFI when you have it, disable everything you don't need, disable sync if you want/need to, disable gps, animations, and especially use minimal screentime. I don't see why the note wouldn't pull at least 36 hours if it was left in airplane mode the whole time.
Actually I was just watching movies and listening through bluetooth, thats why I don't have other processes eating my battery but I didn't do anything special..just straight 6 hours of watching movies using mobo player..
But I noticed that using mobile data to surf the net would drain my battery faster, so try to use wifi whenever available..
Everything about my setup is stock, only de-odexed to manually install my language..
Also noticed that when my phone left idleing, there will be Android OS drain in my battery usage, wigh "suspend" and "events0" showing in BetterBatteryStats but I still didn't figure out how to solve that..

Doing a factory reset before installing anything is becoming the gold standard.
Hope it helps you.
I get between 7-9 hours of active use. Sounds like some process is running amok on yours. I didn't factory reset when I bought it either....though I have rooted it since then, but battery life is about the same pre and post root.
You might want to consider a program to monitor battery use to see what's eating it up. Maybe do that before you factory reset it so you don't install the same thing again.

System panel is a good app to find what's using your CPU and better batterystats can help find what's keeping your phone from going to deep sleep. An easy way to see if this is the case is go into battery setting and select the first option(history details). Compare the Awake bar with the screen on bar. Those two should be nearly identical if not then you have a rogue app.

have you flashed any kernels or roms? sometimes this makes the tablet report the wrong battery stats for a bit.
did you run the battery down until it turns off and then give it a full charge? sometimes you have more juice than what is being reported. ive been stuck at 1-2% for over an hour before. Most likely its a rogue app though, system panel and better batterystats should find out what app it is. if they dont then it could be that you have a defective battery...
Been on mine continuously for 3 hrs 18 mins and at 60%. Excellent if you ask me. Next step up in battery life would be Transformer series with dock.

Quite the opposite for me; unlike every other Android device I've had (Nexus One, GS2) the battery life is excellent. I watched 720p mkv video on the train yesterday for a good 3 hours, and still had ~70% by the time I got home, from a full charge.
The battery life is excellent, as far as I'm concerned.

Don't think you needed to calibrate the battery to begin with. I usually get fine battery life without doing anything special.
Something must be causing the poor battery on your Nexus, Yesterday after my N7 was fully charged, I watched the movie Thor for 1hr and 54 minutes n and my battery only dropped to 83%.
I'm at 16 hours and 52 minutes with 3 hours and 44 minutes of on screen time, the battery is at 51%

Unless you listen to music for over 5 hours or streaming the songs it shouldnt use that much battery. If you can't find a wakelock with better battery stats then it might just be a bad unit.
I have had this phone for about 2 months now and everything has been exceptional with the phone. Have seen people complain about the battery life, however it has been really good as far as my experience is concerned. However since a week I have seen the battery screwing up a lot... A LOT.
I always used to charge my phone daily in night. Plug it in..set an alarm of 3.5 hours (yes it takes 3.5 hours to fully charge from less than 10% stage) wake up..turn charging off..sleep back. Okay, some of u might think it is stupid but can’t risk of leaving it on charge the whole night and burn my phone. Anyhow, so, since a week what I do is I charge my phone whenever I want (read it on a few thread and articles)..be it 50%... 80% or even 92%. I just make sure its 100% whenever I leave home.
But something weird has started happening... The battery percentage keeps on changing.. For instance:
when I unplug it..its 100%.. within minutes of usage it drops to 99..then 98.. then 97 and suddenly it rises back to 100%. (Pics attached)
Sometimes when its on charge and I come to check SMSz and reply them.. battery % suddenly drops.. e.g: if its at 99%... it will suddenly change to 96% in a second and in a minute goes back to 99% .. so on and so forth. And sometimes even when its charging..if it is at 80%, it will suddenly shoot up to 100%. The percentage doesn’t change even after a reboot. Weird, isn’t it?
Now the most weird issue, since yesterday the battery life and dropped to 50% less. I used to get 4 hours OST and now I hardly get 2 hours. During night, the battery used to drop 2% in about 6 to 7 hours and yesterday it dropped 15%. There was this one time when it dropped 9% in 6.5 hours (pics attached). Tried seeing through Wale Lock Detector but there were no Awakes during deep sleep. Too weird :s
I don’t really know where did I phuck up as I haven’t installed any shaddy apps or something. Please advice.
My phone info:
All stock. No root (and not looking). No custom Roms whatsoever.
TL;DR... Battery acts weirdly. Shows inconsistent percentages. Suddenly shoots up. Suddenly Drops. And now the On Screen Time has reduced 50%.
It sounds like it's nothing more than a bug.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks for ur reply. How to figure it out? And measures should be taken? Any suggestions?
this has really kept me worried since a few days.
This is "normal" for the N4, and the most/all of them do it. Unreliable drivers, or a hardware fault, not sure.
Here are other threads about the various battery bugs, but there are many more:

I know I searched many threads before posting and mostly had the Shooting up issue only, when charging.
Anyhow, this normal behavior has reduced my battery life a lot.. which I am not liking .. What to do?

Both my N4's (different H/W revisions) have been doing the 100 to 98 to 100 thing as well since new. Battery life is still excellent for me. An RMA would probably do the same.

Rebooting might help. Could also be an app that updated that now doesn't play nice. You could try a factory reset just to clear out some crap but I'd back everything up just in case first. Not sure if a factory reset deletes all your user data in memory or not. I only did it once right after I got the phone so can't remember. Hate to lose all your pictures, files, etc. that aren't backed up.

It's normal. The N4 isn't great about showing the exact battery life. In fact, what you see isn't the true percentage, it's an estimation. Don't worry too much about it!

This is a question I can't answer along with any facts. I tried disabling it for 2 days and I noticed the OST reduced from 4 hours to 3.xx hours. May its placebo or something but then I enabled it...thinking if it's not doing any good then it's not doing any harm either.

Hmmm, I didn't know that. But why is that? Any apps or something to show the exact battery percentage left?
Happens to me once in awhile. Do a quick reboot, and if that fixes it, I would not worry too much.
Hmmm..
Yesterday when I woke up in morning.. the battery lost 2% only in 6 hours. I felt SOOOO relieved that my "good battery" is back. But who knew what was to come... today I woke up after 7 hours and the battery lost 15% .
My usage is always the same. I force close all the apps I use daily and turn wifi etc all off. So i doubt if its any app.

I got an update today for my AT&T version also. G935AUCS2APC2 is the latest. Android version didn't change, still 6.01
seems like they changed the security settings, now everytime I lock the screen with nova double tap, I need to use the pin my fingerprints wont open it.
I'm still on the old update apparently for AT&T. Even shows me this message when checking for updates.

Additional 2 factor authorization has been enabled since the original firmware. It's nothing new but is very annoying.
My battery has been amazing. On standby I'll keep it unchanged overnight at 100 and when I wake up its around 80-90 not bad for 8 hours stand alone

Maybe I have to many apps opened In background
Hi all, I'm just wandering if is there any way to check battery health ? an app or something.
Tried several apps on Playstore and all say that my battery health is good, but I'm having a battery drain and shut down from 25%.
thx in advance.
Try Accubattery, it showed the issue with mine when it was doing similar before Google replaced it.

This.
AccuBattery shows 90% health for my battery, but still i get only 2.5hrs - 3 hrs Sceen-On Time with apps greenified and Aggressive Doze On. If you remember the details, would you mind sharing them here?
Mine was down at something like 30% just before it was replaced. Now its at 104% and I get 4-5 hours of screen on time.
Now just using stock Oreo as no need for root at the moment.

Thanks. Guess I'll stick with this battery for now.
I'm getting 4-5h SOT and, according to Accubattery, it's 87% healthy.

I'm on 89%. I've had the handset 21 months. How long have you had yours?

Interesting. I made the mistake of charging overnight at first. I only realised a while later that it only took 1 hour 45 or so to fully charge, so now I charge when I wake in the morning. Overcharging is supposed to be the main cause of battery depreciation.
When I first installed Accubattery I was at 91%, that was the end of June, don't think I'm doing too bad.

Like every Nexus phone I've owned ... since the Galaxy, I have left the phone on the charger 24/7. All day, all night. I take it off when i leave the house/office and sometimes it stays on the (stock) charger for days. The N6P has a high number of defective batteries, but that shouldn't change your daily charging habits. In other words don't change charging habits if the one device you have has a defective or sub-par battery. Put a new battery in and carry on. We have 3 N6P's in the family and they are all still above 90% according to Accubattery... Guess we are lucky.
