Hi,
I have been having issues with my earpiece (very low and distorted sound when receiving calls) and speaker (distorted/crackled sounds). Brought the phone back to Samsung Store on Sunday, and after 2 hours assessment, they agreed I have a faulty phone and got replaced with a brand new phone. Two days passed without problem, but today the crackled/distorted sounds came back, both the earpiece and the speaker.
I noticed the issue relating to the speaker when wet, but the phone (both my 'old' one and this brand new one) have NEVER EVER EVER got in touch with any water whatsoever in any amount.
I have been googling for this issues but found nothing. Am I the only person having these issues? Am I just extremely unlucky to have two brand new phones with dodgy speaker/earpiece?
Same problem here. Speaker sounds ok on all three frequencies.
The problem is only there when I am talking to someone via gsm network. Not on viber or listening to music. Please note that I have used same gsm network number on other phone and it works well.

I have now had 2 jasjars both of which developed "speaker rattle" very quickly.
the first had problems with the internal (screen) side speaker, and the new with the outside.
I have spoken with a couple of people who also had the same problem and was wondering if this was something that is a feature of the phone.
It sounds rattlely / distorted when the person is at the other end of the phone.
Seems a bit unlucky to have ended up with 2 duds, and I don't fancy being the first person in the UK to have thier jasjar dismantled by the repairer!
how many other people out there have this? Is it only the imates?
I have the same problem
...although myxda is secondhand and was very cheap so I kind of was going to overlook the buzz/rattle. Of course if anyone knows of a solution...?
yep i've noticed that on my mda pro, and generally low voice. Hopefully this can be fixed with some future upgrades.
Same here toooo ... i-mate JASJAR...
hey guys,
its not a problem with the speaker....
its because of moisture!
if you carry ur jj into ur bathroom, where its steaming, or any damn place where theres a possibility of moisture content in the air, the speaker begins to rattle...
so, just keep it out of moisture for a while, it gets back to normal...
best,
S
Not sure about that moisture thing, I would never take mine near a bathroom!
It is a fault somewhere, the first one I had was with the internal (the external worked fine) and the second has the fault with the external (and the internal is fine).
I am not sure about you guys, but mine started OK, and got worse over the first day.
Hi all
Well mine rattled when I got it, as I said earlier it is secondhand. It also rattles on loudspeaker so I think someone has had the volume up on max for a while when listening to music or making calls. Shame.
I am going to be upgrading it with the software available from this site, hopefully getting rid of the providers branding etc just as soon as I get my link cable through the post. At the same time I would be happy to mod the speaker(s) if anyone knows how?
btw, are there 2 speakers? External and internal or is it just a volume increase on the one speaker when putting the loudspeaker on? As I have a rattle on both settings it suggests one one exists.
Thanks for any help received.

Hi guys
I am back to this forum after so many years. I am having this issue with international version of S7 edge. The problem is even though this is my second unit (I replaced the first one for the same reason) the ear speaker has slight distortion and it sounds like the speaker is blown slightly especially with very limited frequencies.
Please advise is this normal? Any solutions.
Thanks.
Speaker sounds ok on all three frequencies.
The problem is only there when I am talking to someone via gsm network. Not on viber or listening to music. Please note that I have used same gsm network number on other phone and it works well.
I had this issue, but only in a certain context. If I played some music in Poweramp over the bottom speaker and then listened to a voice-mail, the top internal speaker sounded blown. If I rebooted and listened to the voicemail first, no problem. So it seemed like a software issue.
I've used my new s7 edge for about 1 month and I noticed this persisting issue.
During phone calls, I hear an annoying crackling noise. If I turn to the speaker this sounds stops so it only comes from the phone ear speaker. I remember this same issue back in the s4 days which was a speaker hardware problem and people were having their speaker replaced.
Any ideas anyone?
I have The same problem
Me too. But when i put vol down about 80% this annoying sound disappears. it think is a HW problem, propably on full vol, speaker is vibrating. Other day I have the same situation on S4.
Hello,
new s7 edge exynos with the same problem here.
I have the same distortion crackling at maximum volume lvl in every call.
Disappears at lower lvls.
I tried the Low Frq test *#0*#, both 100Hz and 200Hz having this issue,
At 300Hz sounds better with minimun crackling.
Did anyone find any solution to this?
Should I send it for replace or something and try another, or it is waste of time ?
Thanks
It is a nougat issue. Hopefully be fixed soon

I saw many posts in the web having the same issue before nougat update, so maybe it's hardware related ?

AOA all frnds
same issue facing in my SM-G930L when i installed custom rom destortion feel only voice calls mobile to mobile and on landline its super clear same when stock rom installed sound during calls super clear again....
i tried more thn 3 4 custom roms of nougat all have same issue please resolve if some one cam coz s7 super stock rom is superb
If any of you have ever had your front glass replaced, I ran into this issue as well. I took it back to the company that replaced the glass and they replaced the ear speaker. Now everything sounds great at any volume. The explanation I was given was that in order to replace the glass, they have to heat the phone to soften the adhesive. Sometimes, the heat can damage the speaker coil wiring or short it out.
May not fix EVERYONE, but this is simply MY story.
Thanks!
Solution for cracking ear speaker
Hello Guys,
I had the same issue on my Note 8 and solved it simply by just placing my mouth on the ear speaker and blow and suck (light blow) repeatedly.
Cheers.
Hi all,
I've had my Nokia 6 since September, and I've noticed call quality was not so good. Yesterday I finally investigated this by calling making some calls to another cell phone using the both regular cell network and over WhatsApp. For both, the audio is clean only at low volume levels (sub 33%). For higher volumes, it is distorted. It sounds like the speaker is in overdrive (?).
I also noticed that when I shake the phone or tap the top lightly, it sounds like something (the speaker?) inside is loose. And no, I didn't drop it (yet . The distortion was present from day one.
However, when playing music through the speakers, it sounds fine to me, also at maximum volume. I'm assuming this is using the same speaker as for calls?
Has anyone else noticed the distortion during voice calls? Or at least the loose component inside the phone?
I'm guessing I need to return it for repair, but I first want to make sure this is not the normal behavior (software/configuration issue). The phone is working fine otherwise. I've the global (European?) dual-sim version TA-1021 ordered from amazon.de with the latest updates.
Thanks!

I have the same voice distortion issue since Oreo update today.
Looking forward to XDAdevs to fix the issue soon!
My phone turned out to have a defective speaker. I received a replacement from Amazon and returned the broken one.
I also noticed a sound issue after the Oreo update. This only is present when Dolby is turned on, though.
Hello. I have S8 G950F. 3 months ago my earpiece started to crackle and now i can barely hear when i'm talking with someone.
So i replaced it with brane new, but it remains the same. I can hear louder from the back of the phone.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Do you use a cover? Or did something slip into the female?
