Newbie here, so patience would be appreciated [emoji4]
I'm rooted with Echoe custom ROM but after noticing some battery drain (not blaming the ROM) I want to go back to a stock ROM and keep the root.
What would be the way to flash back to stock ROM and keep the root? I've seen 2 methods on XDA chainfire and the TWRP option. But I'm confused coming from a custom ROM.
I'd be grateful for any help [emoji1]
You can just flash stock rom while odin and reroot with either chain fire or twrp method

Thanks for your help. Is there any advantages using chainfire over TWRP and vice versa.

I'm not sure.
TWRP method require you to format internal storage to disable encryption but CF method won't.

I want to update my i9505 to the latest android 4.3 through Odin but I don't want the new Knox bootloader, could someone please give me any instructions of how I could achieve this? I don't want to install the "custom" stock roms.
*EDIT*: Could someone also give me instructions on how to compile the edited firmware.
I tried to Google it but to no avail.
I shall be grateful to anyone who helps.

In order to remain on your old bootloader you will need to root. Any reason why you don't want to? Root, install a custom recovery then flash the pre rooted rom. They are stock based.

Thank you for your reply, I'm rooted with custom recovery. However I wish to create myself a Odin copy for emergency purposes, I currently have the official MGA firmware update for Odin. I want to create a Odin flash-able firmware update without the new bootloader,
EDIT: After going through the thread all the firmware files include the new know bootloader ;(
As far as I know you can't flash via odin. I suggest you flash the CWM version this has no bootloader. As your already rooted using the knox free cwm version is the safest bet at the moment.

No modem, you can install that separately via Odin as we can't flash modems using CWM. It contains stock rom and stock kernel.

I'm having trouble finding a mod/rom that is compatible with the verizon samsung galaxy note 3, Anyone know what is?
Really don't understand you ? There several roms with galaxy note 3 ..but the question is are you rooted ..do you have safestrap installed ..which version of android are you on 4.3mje / 4.4.2 NC4 ...are you rooted you would get better results with all of that included in your question ...

I've decided to unroot, do i have to do that fix before i install a recovery (Cwm or Twrp)?
From my understanding you have to be rooted to place a recovery on your device (Cwm or Twrp)...

you unroot by flashing the stock Odin file, or using your root method to unroot.
there is no recovery available. safestrap is our wonderfully built recovery alternative due to a locked bootloader on the 900v. do not try and flash cwm or twrp.

Hello Everyone just want to ask before I go to root and install recovery Im still stock and not rooted so heres my idea to root and install custom recovery
1. Root using towelroot
2. Install recovery using Flashify
3. Install custom rom
can this method work? anyone have tried this? since I dont want to use odin because Im still noob
TIA
Towel root may not work, you may have to use Odin because Samsung patched their kernels.

It's personal preference, but I personally like to use TWRP.
Hi,
Is there any way to install any custom ROM without rooting the Galaxy Note 3??
I don't need root because i'm using bank application that works only without root, even if i unrooted after installing the ROM, it won't work.
Thanks

Flash twrp
Then cm12.1 by temasek. He doesn't include root anymore as you have to flash supersu to get root.
Try it. It may work for you.
Hi guys, I want to root my wife's Galaxy S5 / SM-G900F running Android 6.0.1. Although I'm quite familiar with rooting android I know Samsung can be tricky - the question is: will the existing version of CF-Root
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696537
work for all baseband versions for 6.0.1? On CF-Root download page baseband version specified is MMB29M.G900FXXU1CPD3 ---- but mine is MMB29M.G900FXXS1CPJ1?
Big thanks, Majo
I don't know but i prefer to install twrp and then flash supersu.
This is my method for 3 years

Thanks man, will do it with ODIN for TWRP flashing. But just to make sure and confirm - beside flashing SuperSU no further unlocks (like bootloader etc) is needed for Samsung S5?? I want to install custom ROM...
Thanks for reply in advance!
