Official Froyo-how to install all the apps to SD instead of using the app2sd?
wildfire internal memory is limited and not all the apps can move to SD for FROYO.
so is that any way to install all the apps to SD ?
Not as far as I know. It requires a custom recovery to be installed, which requires root. There are a few apps in the market though (like Apps 2 SD) which claim to do this, but, I have no idea how they go about it.
Can someone advise how to install directly to sd please? I'm facing the same thing.
any solution?
Directly install apps to SD card.
http://nmobilephones.com/applicatio...tall-applications-to-the-sd-card-by-default-2
Original question of "moving all apps to SD" is impossible now as apps with widgets have to be in Internal Memory.
Unless a dev is able to fool the phone into thinking SD card is internal memory nothing is possible. Unfortunately what devs do these days "make themes". Dailies and Nightlies.

Sorry for making the wrong post. Actually, with the above process, it is possible even to install/move the unsupported apps to sdcard on unrootable wildfire with official froyo (hboot 1.01 + S-ON).
This works without root:
1. Enable debugging on your phone (Settings->Applications->Development->USB Debugging)
2. Connect phone i PC
3. Open Command Prompt (on PC Start->Run type cmd and than Enter)
4. In Command Prompt type: adb shell pm setInstallLocation 2
5. Enter
Thats it!
If you want it back, just type:
adb shell pm setInstallLocation 0 instead of step 4.
Works on my NON ROOTED Wildfire wih FroYo!
This will enable you to move all apps (even with gadgets, but than you cant use gadgets) to SD, and also it will install all future apps directly to SD.
Oops, my mistake. The process works great. Even the unsupported apps can be moved/installed to sdcard directly . @ilDuceo thanks a lot for the correction. So, this was there right from the beginning, when wildfire got updated to official froyo. Missed this all these days.
SOME INFO HERE.
Make sure that there are no pc/phone apps which use the usb debugging while doing this process (eg: pdanet). After navigating to the "platform-tools" folder (latest android sdk version), then input the following adb commands (in bold here) of ur choice. Press enter after every command.
--First confirm the connection of adb device with the command adb devices
--This command sets the install location to automatic to be chosen by the app adb shell pm setInstallLocation 0
--This command sets the install location to phone adb shell pm setInstallLocation 1 (but try not to use this, instead use the automatic command)
--This command sets the install location to memory card adb shell pm setInstallLocation 2
NOTE: I have found almost every third party app moved except the present version of "Double Twist Player" (version 1.4.2).
So this will move all future installed apps to the SD? What if I install an app with Widgets? Would I need to reverse the process?

Once u done that process, almost all the past 3rd party apps will show an option to be moved to sdcard. And the future apps will be directly installed to sdcard (no need of moving).
Regarding apps with widgets, i have checked one app "Power AMP Music Player". It will be installed to the memory card and its widget worked fine for me. Havent checked other apps. Make a try.
And i have also freshly installed "Launcher Pro". It will be installed in phone memory only and it doesn't support moving to sdcard. So, i think we donot need to reverse the process in any case, as it wont support moving to memory card in conflicting cases.
[NOTE: I think some apps with native support of apps2sd will be installed to phone memory, and we will have to move them manually. If it is so, then do a batch movement at once.]
@bharatgaddameedi: yeah, almost all i need from root! except of custom ROM of course... but, this is just fine until root.
have a nice day
yes. Its fine untill root. Now I can have almost unlimited apps on my phone. Never expected this would be possible without root. Day by day, I'm getting a bit more satisfied with my phone. And it will be great if we can access root-only apps soon.
have a nice day.
hi i cant get it working. they say adb is not recognised. can i have the full steps? thanks!

That is not an issue with the actual process.
U must know how to use adb (and how to use command prompt also) to go with the process. And also, have u installed the android usb driver.
The easiest way to install android usb driver is just install "HTC SYNC" if u donot want to go with a long process. However the driver will also be a part of other softwares like htc usb driver, pdanet (pc version) ......
hope it helped.

Yes it will come back to the original status on making hard reset. We cant expect that to retain even after hard reset. But we dont need to make hard reset just for coming back to the original status. We can use the command adb shell pm setInstallLocation 0 . But before doing that we need to move all the unsupported apps to the phone memory. I think they will not be usable unless we move them.
app to instal on phone to do it automatic
any chance that somebody make an app to do this automatic from phone
than you

Yes that would be nice. I also thought that. That eliminates pc connection everytime we want it.
But I think it is not yet done. There are Android terminal emulator apps. I tried in those apps the commands "pm setInstallLocation 2". But it was unsuccessful. I think adb was necessary for doing that. Hope they will be done.
(and remember the letters in those commands are case sensitive. There are only 2 capital letters in that).

I somehow got my unrooted galaxy to make this work. I am not sure why but I choose to open a chrome address with Sygic(through chrome - instead of choosing maps or whatever), and it just opened the app onto the map screen. I can now freely open the app whenever I want.
Hi everybody, on my S5 16GB (12GB real) I don't have enough space to install or update my apps
So I need to free some space, for example
Storage/media/.thumbnails/g900fxxu1boj1_5.0 is 509MB
Storage/apps/synthesis vocal 559MB
DOWNLOAD MANAGER 397MB
FACEBOOK Has 393mb under Apps and 240mb under Storage/media/.face
Can I free something?
You can wipe cached data by going into settings -> General -> Storage -> Cached Data which would probably clear 1GB or more.
Then go back and go to the application manager and swipe over to SD card and move as much apps as you can onto your SD card to free up some space.

Get rid of the Facebook and Messenger apps.....They 'hog' way too much of the devices resources and ask for totally un-needed permissions.
Replace them with a Web shortcut (on your home screen) to the web based mobile Facebook site.....you won't get notifications, but is it really *that* important to know if you've been 'poked' or if someone has mentioned you in some pointless post or liked a comment you left?
IMO......*real* life is more important......

what about the folder with the name of the ROM under .thumbnail? can I get rid of that?

Without knowing EXACTLY where on your phone that file is, and how it got there, I can't answer you.....

Storage Card\media\.thumbnails\g900fxxu1boj1_5.0
another strange folder
Storage Card\media\Mobi has three sub folders /.gen - /.alt - /.vcache for a total of 1140MB
I had eyefi mobi app, but on application manager was only 77MB, I uninstalled it but obviously didn't solve
If you have room to install one more app, get SD Maid and run it.....it should clear a lot of 'stuff'.....it may be that it even clears those files you've mentioned.......

Sorry, the app didn't help... Is the same as the "smart manager" which is installed by default
Ok....Make sure usb debugging is switched on (in developer options) then COPY those files to a pc. Then delete them from the phone (after you have noted their original location) That way, you can push them back to the device if their deletion causes problems.....

Is there another way to gain adaptive storage without having to root or adb?
would using wireless adb be an option?
Adoptable storage does not require root. However, it does require the use of ADB. There is no other option around this at this time. You'll have to roll with what works, or not use it. Kinda simple as that. =/

Hi,
I really want to try this process and have also enabled developer more, but when i attach the USB cable and I go to the drop down to try to select "Use USB for Software Installation" I don't see that option. Does anyone know how to enable that option on my phone?
Thanks in advance
Saw few users not having App Twin feature on various variant of EMUI 5.0. I found this trick on Honor 5C Facebook group shared by one of the user claiming this worked for him on rooted phone. I could not test this because I already have this feature on my phones so unable to verify but someone not having this feature on EMUI 5.0 can verify and report.
This needs a rooted phone with root enabled file explorer. (Root browser or ES file manager)
Go to this path:- system/emui/lite/prop/
backup this file - local.prop (copy and paste in internal storage or somewhere)
Now edit the original file under system/emui/lite/prop/ and make below changes.
fw.max_users=1 to 2
fw.show_multiuserui=0 to 1
ro.config.hw_support_clone_app=false to true.
Save the file and Reboot the phone.
Now check in settings option just below battery for app twin.
If it works, please share the feedback so that other users can get benefit of this and if doesn't work, we will explore more option to have this.
If you face any issue, just restore the original file from backup.
One of the user in 6X thread confirmed this is working. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74219357&postcount=2
Good luck.
