[Guide] Enable App Twin Feature on EMUI 5.0 - Honor 5C Guides, News, & Discussion

Saw few users not having App Twin feature on various variant of EMUI 5.0. I found this trick on Honor 5C Facebook group shared by one of the user claiming this worked for him on rooted phone. I could not test this because I already have this feature on my phones so unable to verify but someone not having this feature on EMUI 5.0 can verify and report.
This needs a rooted phone with root enabled file explorer. (Root browser or ES file manager)
Go to this path:- system/emui/lite/prop/
backup this file - local.prop (copy and paste in internal storage or somewhere)
Now edit the original file under system/emui/lite/prop/ and make below changes.
fw.max_users=1 to 2
fw.show_multiuserui=0 to 1
ro.config.hw_support_clone_app=false to true.
Save the file and Reboot the phone.
Now check in settings option just below battery for app twin.
If it works, please share the feedback so that other users can get benefit of this and if doesn't work, we will explore more option to have this.
If you face any issue, just restore the original file from backup.
One of the user in 6X thread confirmed this is working. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74219357&postcount=2
Good luck.

MIUI File Manager - working on other AOSP ROMs?

Hi people, i hope you understand what I'm trying to say here
If you ever tried MIUI i think you were amazed by the File Manager pre-installed on it. I simply love it and I think MIUI is very nice ROM but it has a few bugs and it's missing some things that AOSP ROMs (like GingerVillain that I'm currently using) have...
But other AOSP ROMs don't have such excellent File Manager that MIUI has.
I'd like to see MIUI FM installed on my Desire (running GingerVillain ATM) but I don't know how to install it...
I tried extracting FileManager.apk from XJs MIUI and installing it, but it doesn't install.
Then I copied FileManager.apk inside GingerVillain installation .zip and flashing it. FileManager is installed, but i get FCs when I try to run it...
So, can someone 'port' MIUIs FileManager to other AOSP ROMs?
Or at least explain why not...
Anyone? Anything?
Sent using telegraph
Try using root explorer to place it in system/app.
Thank me if i helped!
It works with MIUI framework only. If you need a good file manager, Ghost Commander is awesome.

any updates on this one?
the advantage of MIUI file explorer is transferring files via wifi. And I need this.
I use Samba file share for WiFi file management. 'bout the same just that it's not as fancy. Works great though.
I've Looked at many options and posts about this and so far as i understand it's not possible unless you are running on MIUI already due to missing Lib that you can't get due to MIUI being closed source.
But there is good news i found an app called star high speed file explorer that is basicly a clone of the miui without the FTP option

I like ES File Explorer. I love it. The only problem is that it LAGS LIKE HELL when scrolling, at least on Sense ROMs (EVO 3D here).

Thank you for research . I was looking for a file explorer like Miui. This one is great !
I've moved from MIUI and miss the file manager.

Hide
Network communication:

view Wi-Fi state
System tools:

[Q] Nexus 7 4.2 Multi User with 3rd Party APK

hi all,
I got a problem. I am now using Nexus 7 with 4.2 (multi user support)
I have 2 users on my Nexus 7. I want to install the same APK on both users. I can install the APK on the primary user successfully. However, for the 2nd user, whenever I finished the APK installation, it states the APK is not installed.
Is there any settings or tick allowing me to install APK on the 2nd user?
Many thanks

You are doing it wrong...
When you set up a second user, they have their own account. On that user, open the Play store.
Under options, click Add account and enter the account you use on your main user.
Uncheck all the Synch options.
Now you will see all the apps you installed on the main user.
Just click Install on all the ones you want the second user to have.
They will install instantly - no download - and a symlink will be set to your main copy.
This way you never have two copies of the same app eating up your space.
At this point you can delete the Play store reference to your main account or just leave it.
Note: Don't use Root with multiuser until someone fixes it. Lag will make the nexus unuseable.

if you sideload the app using your PC through adb it will show up in both the primary and secondary user. I'm not sure if it matters but I would probably make sure you are in the primary when connecting with adb.
I also have this problem. If I use apkextractor the file works in primary user, but when i move it to secondary the apk corrupts
Anyone has this problem?

It's true, transferring the apk from ur computer to your android device using adb will make the apk visible to both the primary and secondary user.
What I did was:
Setup the adb thing (which was a quite an ordeal on it's own).
Then using the push command, transferred my apk to my device.
adb push C:\path\to\file\origianlFileName.apk /sdcard/Download/newFileName.apk
I chose a new filename (MCPE.apk) because the original had spaces and was long and hard to memorize.
The transfer was successful, but when I check to see if it was there, using ASTRO File Manager and also Windows,
the file name was the original file name (what it was called on my computer). Installing it at this point didn't work.
But then I renamed the file (using windows) back to "MCPE.apk" and THEN it installed correctly!!
YAY!!
Also before installing, I made the secondary user a developer, by that weird "Build Number" trick.
Not sure if that has any effect..
I am unable to install apk from my secondary user ,I even tried to rename the apks , I am able to download apps from playstore , the same apks install fine under the primary user , though enabled unknown sources option is greyedout for secondary user and I am not able to enable developer option for the secondary user ( the build tap procedure doesn't seems to work ) , I am on 4.4.2 , did anyone able to get through this ?

I may know the issue.
If you install an APK on the primary user and if you have updated the version of such APK to a newer version before you install the original APK to the Second user account, you will have such problem.
So, make sure to install on both user accounts with same APK.

[Q] Help! Note 3 kitkat update sd card support question.

Hey I have a question thought maybe you might be able to help. I just updated my samsung galaxy note 3 and its with wind mobile and it's sm-n900w8 modle. Anyways I keep hearing about this sd card thing being removed on the web today and how everybody is pissed about it. I tried reading about it but don't understand. Is there anyway it could be super simplified for me? Any help would be great thanks.

A simplified answer:
Google changed the permissions of third party apps regarding external storage due to security concerns.
In KitKat third part apps aren't able to read/write to sdcard unless the apps are updated and they generate a folder separately for that app. Even then they only have access to that folder and no other. System apps will still be able to read and write so stuff like My Files from Samsung still has full control.
This is what it means in a nutshell.

So things like downloading a ringtone from the web browser or using my otg cable or using a torrent client will not be affected? I also noticed that in application manager if I click on some of the apps it shows the move to sd card as greyed out and others it shows it as highlighted is this normal? And also I noticed that when I go into my sd card the folders for a lot of my apps are there but the size of my card for storage amount has not dropped is this normal and does it really affect the average joe who's not big into tinkering with Android os?

The torrent client and browser will need to be updated if they aren't already or you can use the stock (system app) browser. But no, basically those things will not be affected and should work just fine.

Ok dudes I will just go about using it like as per usual. Thanks for the help guys!
If you have rooted your note 3 then it is possible to modify a system file to give all non system apps that for example you have downloaded from play store to behave as they would before kit kat changed write permission.
See this post for details of how to edit the file to allow apps to be able to write to your sd card.
Fairly easy to do, just have to use any file editor to add a single line in a system file.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51036231&postcount=482
Alternatively someone has posted that they have written an app to do this on play store.
I can't find link to this at the moment.
Will edit this post If I find the post.

Ofc yes...
app downloaded and i put it on sd card then i install app
Drop the app in system/apps folder .
Were you trying to update a previously installed app by this method? Because then the signature is likely incorrect. (Possibly due to the update, usually due to a different 'uploader'.)
Also, try downloading the file and installing it from the device instead of the internet.

gapps-config can do some.... see here
You can disable most apps with the App manager. I don't think it's worth uninstalling them since most of the apps that can be disabled aren't that big and the big ones are usually necessary for the proper functioning of the phone.

Deleting the stock browser won't make your system crash. Besides, I also said you can disable those apps since deleting them won't give you much space benefit.
PS: AROMA is an installer that lets you CHOOSE WHAT TO INSTALL. Why would you even want to mess with the script when it already does what you're trying to do?
What Mr Buff showed you is ONLY for the non-AROMA packages. It even says that on the link he posted.

Yes to what the learned Mr. Pwnycorn says.
There is an app called debloater on xda that runs remotely on a PC and lets you remove apps via adb. But that will be too complicated also.
Or you could freeze and delete from TIBU.
Or you could use a dedicated app from the playstore.
Or don't bother.

In open gappd there is a script extra for these debloat changes . But i dont k ow how to because its complicsted as **** and nowhere to find a tutorial. Adb is not the best idea because ADT have 1.8gb downloadsize.freeze and delete is also not the best thats why iam searching for debloater. I have found several scripts for other devices lile htc or huawei but not for samsung devices especially s7.
I prefer the method with the debloater app but adb is too much size. Playstore apps are ****ing mixed. Download the false app then got reflash the device if you know what i mean.
And i want to delete gallery music eq and the fuxking soundrecorder and stockbrowser even filemanager. I want my personally preferred apps installed in system . I dont want the cyanogrn/lineageos apps because they have no updates

Disabled apps don't use any RAM because they are essentially prevented from ever starting. Not even you can start them unless you actually enable them again.
They're just like deleted apps, except that they are still present in the ROM without using any resources except for space.

Like I said, config-gapps is the way to go for what you want.
Look I'll make it easier, in post #4 of my thread here is attached my example config-gapps and some instruction (in English).
If you read through the file you will get the idea of how to manually add and delete applications.
Beware however that this file is setup for use with the full SuperGapps file, as my rom, like OptCM,
has an enlarged /system partition of 2.7gb. Standard Lineage only has 1.1gb.
