How to encrypt (protect) the external SD Card - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello,
I use a 128 GB SD Card in my new S7 Edge, but I can't find a way to encrypt the SD Card.
I don't want someone have access to the data on the card if my phone gets lost or stolen.
Thanks for helping
Felix

Settings -> search "encrypt" -> Encrypt SD Card

Thanks! I was only looking under "storage"...my bad.

migrating to new SD card with adoptable storage enabled

Hello,
Just wondering if anybody has any knowledge on how to install a new SD card when you already have adoptable storage enabled. I'm assuming I could power down the phone and copy everything over, but my new SD card is 200gb vs 128gb installed. I'm worried the partition table wouldn't be set properly.
Any advice would be great!
Thanks,
Jaime
I haven't tried but perhaps unmounting the SD card would help?

The data stored on your card must be moved back to the internal storage in order to avoid breaking your apps. You can do that from the internal storage menu. If you can't fit everything, you'll have to delete things until you're under the limit. At that point, you can go back into the SD card storage menu and format it as "portable", meaning it will work in other devices. If there's any data still on it, you will lose it. Then put in the new card and set it up for "adoptable" as the previous card was.

Faulty SD Card?

Hey there,
I bough this SD card but I don't think the phone is reading it properly. When I pop it in my apps don't see that there's a card inserted. I go to Settings > Storage > SD card...it reads "Ready" but I can't click on it or do anything with it. I can attempt to encrypt/decrypt it, but it will be stuck at "Checking SD Card..." for hours/forever.
Any advice or should I just return this one and get a new SD card?
I'm coming from Google Nexus phones so I don't have any working cards to go off.

MicroSD Card as "Internal Storage"

Hello everybody,
I am used a 64gb SD card and would like to save the data on the card. For this I have used the function "Storage --> Storage setttings --> Default location" and set it to the SD card.
Everything as good as .... but when I create a second user I get message that this does not go because the SD card is in use.
The question is now whether there is a possibility to use the SD card as internal memory, so that both users of the M3 can use the memory?
Greetings

I would like clarification on the sd card as I want to put as much on it as possible and keep off the internal space.
Contact Huawei support for that one.
Did you ever get an answer on this question?
If you want to force it without Huawei's support, you might be able to use this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/auto-formatting-sdcard-to-internal-t3583875
I used that on my S8 for a bit, but be warned, no matter how fast your SD card is, it *WILL* slow your device down because in any modern, decently spec'd device, the internal storage is hugely faster than an addon SD card.

Hello,
I see in security options one for put a password to SD Card, but it does not encrypt the SD. Also I have seen in internet it is very easy for a thief to get the password in a PC. Do you know if is there any way to encrypt the sd card? also is internal memory encrypted?
thanks.
