AOKParadox: This is Gonna Happen - OnePlus X General

Hi all,
A while back I asked what you guys would like to see from a ROM and that never took off however I did take available suggestions to heart.
Let's start with a bit of background. In 2012, I was introduced to the whole concept of Android development. I rooted the device I had at the time, installed CM, and for a while everything was great. What I didn't like and still don't like about CM is that it is somewhat lackluster when it comes to features and what I didn't like about other ROMs at the time was that they had far too many. Eventually I gave AOKP a shot and its been a favorite of mine for a long while.
Jump to the present. I can do a lot more in terms of development, I can do things now that I had only dreamed of doing a few years back. I saw AOSParadox and the idea of a fully optimised AOSP ROM really appeals to me.
Meet AOKParadox: sheer optimisation and freedom without insane decisions, and the lack of features.
Here's the features I plan to use so far:
1. Compilation with the Uber toolchain (ready)
2. CAF applications and optimisations (Sultans drivers and SWE browser are what's planned)
3. Integrated flashtool (maybe flash fire)
4. Boeffla (with Swell-V6 as default along with my other profiles)
5. An Adblocker (thinking AdAway)
6. Aegis (no longer possible)
7. Xposed (I won't support those using it however)
8. ViperAtmos (Viper is ready however Atmos isn't)
9. Integrated SuperSU (Consider it done)
10. A custom HAL (ready for alpha)
11. Layers (will replace CMTE) (CMTE removed, need to find layers commits)
12. A dark mode (ready for alpha)
13. AROMA (... maybe, poses issues for some)
I plan to integrate most of these into the sertings menu. Note that a few of these features may not make it into the final product and I may implement other features... I have to ask permission of course. I can't just steal work from other developers
Any suggestions are incredibly helpful and if a developer would like, I would consider putting your work here too.
I'm going to start work bow and hopefully seed an alpha to those I trust in the coming weeks.
Suggest away,
RJ
Edit: I've realized that the developers of AOSParadox may feel offense due to the name I've chosen, and as such, AOKParadox will no longer be named. Suggestions are welcome.

Would it be posible to add support for cm13 themes or layers?. cuz that would be awesome.

AOKP supports CMTE by default however I could look into layers instead

That sounds like a great idea! I would base your device tree of the CM one and the kernel also. I like that you want to use layers instead of CMTE
Maybe I can assist you in some things, but I'm not an android rom developer.

Definitely. Considering CM uses CAF now I don't have much to do in that respect.. Maybe I'll pull in Sultans qcom drivers. Not sure they'll work yet though. Definitely going to modify the kernel a ton though.
Your assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Although I mentioned modifying the kernel earlier, there is one I'd like to ask to implement. Not giving anything away, but I've contributed a little bit to it on the CM alpha side
Edit: I was just able to give you five likes on one post. Weird..

In my opinion it wouldn't have sense to change kernel cause the built-in one is optimized for CAF sources wich is the main feature of AOSParadox. AOSParadox team will also probably add full Layers support, gestures, an option to switch from hardware keys to navigation bar and a black theme in the upcoming build.
The features that I would like to see added in AOSParadox are:
- OTA updates support
- built-in Viper4Android
- built-in SuperSU
- built-in AdAway
- removed old and ugly AOSP apps like music or browser (this one possibly replaced by CAF browser)
- quick pulldown, notification LED control, long press recent button to open the last used app and customizable power menu (with advanced reboot)
- all these features well-ordered in settings just like CyanogenMod
- apps like Layers Manager, Super SU and Viper4Android integrated in settings
- duble tap to wake in settings without kernel adiutor workaround

Oh, I won't be using AOSParadox as a base. I actually looked at their kernel and device tree and it doesn't differ much at all. It would be easier to just fork Ashwins and build from there. CM is CAF based now in this respect. Thru just lack proper qcom drivers. I'm going to see if I can implement Sultans drivers for the One. Obviously jot all of yyrm will work but its worth a shot.
OTAs won't happen. I'm sorry, but I have no way of hosting builds yet.
Layers manager will be implemented
The CAF browser is definitely going to be there
Everything else I've already mentioned and is available from AOKP.
Thanks for the feedback!

I misunderstood, anyway the OTA support isn't that important and your ROM looks promising. I'll give it a try when it comes out ?

Looking good from the features
Just wanted to say that don't use Aegis because it creates lots of problems for apps such as ADM
And Xtreme music sound mod would be great in place of viperatmos

Xtreme music requires SELinux to be disabled last I checked and I'm not one to really do that for more options in terms of equalization. I think Atmos and Viper should suffice. Thanks for the feedback. Maybe it will show up as an option in AROMA whenever I chose to implement it!

Wow, I have no clue about the different ROM types (apart from Slimroms and miui) but one can only admire the level of effort that you are putting in to this! Looking forward to the rom, can't think of anything else than you already put on the list.
Thanks!

Unfortunately Aegis is no longer a possibility. I require special privileges to access specific repos on GitHub...

@RJDTWO Can you port Miui ?
Many users are waiting for Miui on onyx

Then why call it AOKParadox? :/

I'm here just to wish good luck with the project and say that it is an amazing idea

Any rules about the names? Things you really want to have in it, like AOK or Paradox? I just finished reading Ready Player One, so I have plenty of names and references

It would be nice to keep AOK in the naming scheme however I'm open to anything really

I don't adding xposed would be a good idea. But it's me

AOKP - Requests for development (Th3Bill's rom)

Well guys we have a pretty good chance to include everything (...what is possible) we ever wanted on our Atrix...
in an other thread th3bill (the dev. behind AOKP milestone 6 port) opened there were alot of request for features on the next builds, th3bill offered to open a discusion which include all requests in one place.
** Th3bill, we love your work and your willing to do for others. your private time "wasted" on porting and developing is not ovious and we do appriciate it. keep on the excellent work and again a major thank, us - the users.
since nobody did it so far i'll start:
i whould like the next build to include:
1. call recording option.
2. video call option.
3. webtop interface?
4. google music.
5. led color control in order to customize notifications.
6. o.c kernel.
7. some other cpu governors.
8. google's android jellybean featuers? espacially build-in voice recognition.
things to fix (what i've noticed):
1. video cam - known problem.
2. browser issus (fc when changing ls and portrait).
3. edit custom brightness levels (fc).
4. can't change signal and wifi colors.
5. also battery bar won't show up.
6. wifi direct won't work.
7. wifi hot spot works and immidiatly stops(maybe it's just my device).
-By now your port is the best rom my atrix had so...big thanks !!!
-I know you working too hard already (DON'T FORGET TO HAVE FUN !!, i wrote all of the things i think can be added. with or without them it is still almost perfect.
guys it is your turn now...make some suggestions for improvement:
Hey Everyone!
I'm sure most of you know me by now. Those of you who do not, I am NOT the type of rom porter who gets upset by questions/requests/PMs. Just understand that I build 3 builds of MIUI (Photon, Atrix, Infuse), 2 builds of AOKP (Photon, Atrix), 2 builds of Paranoid Android (Photon, Atrix), as well as help Jokersax11 with various projects, including our Kitchen Sink. That being said, it might take me a little bit to respond...but I will.

Enhancements:
1) Call recording, I need to play around with this rom some more...see if it has the capability...maybe I can pull from MIUI...can't guarantee, though
2) That will be tough until Moto gives libs
3) Loki and I have talked at length about this...we're trying to figure out a way to do it, but it will take a hybrid kernel and a lot of work. Not that we won't TRY...
4) This will be in the next release
5) Have an app in mind that I can include? Beauty Aroma is that I can include almost anything
6) I am working with Jokersax11 on making some that are compatible with our base. I know that some are kinda compatible, but not all....
7) By governors, I am assuming you're talking about some form of setcpu?
8) I have the apps on my PC...well some of them.
With respect to fixes, 1 and 2...those won't be till Moto plays nice with me and gives me drivers for ICS.
3) I need a logcat on this one please
4 and 5) Not too sure about these ones. I'll try them with my phone if I get a chance. If you can logcat, that'd be great
6) I think this is an ICS thing. Don't know that any of them do Ad-hoc at the moment
7) You need to forget whatever network you are near if you're connected...and make sure that wifi is ON before beginning tether
Sorry if I am a downer on some of it, but I would rather be honest with everything I tell you all. I have much love for the Android Community
I know of you and your builds well Th3Bill, unfortunately I'm just now working on my 10 posts, I have flashed everything for Atrix and Photon.

Just installed latest build an wanted to say thanks for bill's an jokers hard work..
I personally use the car dock alot an the transitions between audio playing and incoming call tends to be troublesome. When calls answered the phone doesn't port it over the USB. Usually speaker/headset and have to redock in call for it to work... also DSP manager doesn't have effect over the USB audio out. Only reason I revert to original moto rom.
That aside best cm9 based rom yet.

This is wifi direct I gather..
LS support also varies through various android tasks.

On paranoid android for the atrix when in tablet mode it won't allow me to make the recent apps the Sense htc style one, is there a fix for this?
Question/Report
Not sure if this is the right place to report issues. My luck, probably not. Here it goes..
I had your build 40. worked great!
updated to milestone 6 7b. worked better (yaay)
tried to update to milestone 6 revision. No wipe, same as previous, sent atrix into bootloop. tried few more times, same thing.
tried again with full wipe. Bootloop. tried again. bootloop. flashed 7b full wipe, works great again (yaay).
Just curious if you have any idea why my phone doesn't like the new one. saw in the rom thread a few others had same issue or similar, no answers there as of yet. i'm hesitant it try again unless you can think of something i could possibly be doing wrong somehow. Anything i can send or tell you that could help, let me know. Thanks
As for requests, i prefer Apex launcher over Nova. Maybe include it? it would be nice if i could uninstall Nova also
You Rock!
*So i tried installing again and it works now. not sure what the problem was*

Problems
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this. If not, i apologize.
I flashed your AOKP build 3 on my international atrix. The ROM doesn't recognize internal and external storage for me. When my phone boots it says that is safe to remove sd card. I used the two options EMMC and SD with or without build.prop tweaks. Also i flash this with FULL wipe (system, etc) The other thing that i cannot find are GApps. Can I use CM10 GApps for this rom ?
Thanks in advance.
So, are there options for an OCed kernel yet?
* Moved to development thread. *
I would really love to see an option to "Show only contacts with phone numbers" on Contact list settings...MIUI has this option and this is super usefull for me
MIUI SMS app is great too, but it doesn´t show smileys
Thanks
I have a good one! WebOS and Sense style multitasking (with long press home).

NEW ROM-PROJECT: CyanogenMod+ | DEVELOPERS NEEDED

Hello!
I'm a CyanogenMod user since a long time now and although I really love this ROM and appreciate how much effort the team from Cyanogen Inc. and all the contributors are investing to make this ROM perfectly stable and tuned so that it runs much better than Stock Vanilla Android.
I too like that there were very few - if any - customization of the overall User Interface, but still love the really useful features which got added to AOSP.
Anyway, there's one reason why I sometimes switch to ParanoidAndroid for a short period of time:
Firstly, I always choose this one as this is the second most popular Custom ROM out there, and AOKP or similar ROMs to AOKP have just too much features and customization options that I wouldn't really play with.
Secondarily - but mainly - because although it's not that customizable like AOKP (and such), it still has these one, two, three, or even four features that are giving me this excitement and "WOW!"-feeling because of really running something (with) MUCH more useful (features) than AOSP, like QuickSettings 3+ (actual version is 3.1), HALO, PIE, Hybrid (sorted by the importance and usefulness for me). [NOTE: the named ones after QS are not (yet) in the latest version (4+) but were back in good old 3+.]
If PA would still be based on CM but "just" with the above named features added to it, it'd be the ROM I use as my daily driver, but sadly, it isn't anymore.
If I then go into the (Original-) Android Development section(s) here at XDA Devs, I always find some ROMs which are based on CM11, have HALO and sometimes even QS3+ built-in ... but also much more (IMO unnecessary features and tunings) - so much that in the end I don't even flash it and test it...
So: I want to make ROM that's based on CyanogenMod's latest version (11.0 ATM), but also has PA's HALO - always in its latest version - and PA's QuickSettings - of course also always in its latest version - built in - but: NOTHING MORE!
Also some little gimmicks from OmniROM like Lockscreen Blur/Notifications - if they'll ever get introduced into it after months of code review - and Smart Pulldown shouldn't be missing - but really: NOT TOO MUCH AND TOO GIMMICKY! CyanogenMod with more nice and really useful features added, but it should not end like TouchWiz compared to Stock Vanilla Android, like some other ROMs do... and we just saw what this leads to!
There's just two things why I don't do it:
1.) I can't do it, as I do not have enough (coding?!) skills to merge the commits (links down below) properly into my CM build setup and clean up merge's remains.
2.) I believe I can't do it on my own as I always want the ROM to be on CM's latest base like its nightlies are, but still have to see that those new commits are not conflicting with PA's features' commits. And that probably half a week...
SO: Is there anybody out there reading this post and saying: "Nice idea! And I too have the necessary skills to realize it. Let's do it!"
If so, please contact me via PM! if you have any major doubts about this 'plan' please comment down below!
Thanks for any useful tips, comments and THANK YOU (!!!) who is willing and able to help me!
Cheers

Who's going to miss using Xposed on Lollipop?

Are you waiting out on updating for next weeks Tmobile update? At this current moment, w/ Xposed 3.0 Alpha3, we still don't know if we will ever get support (as the dev said). I currently have the phone setup pretty much dependent on Xposed. Not sure how I will setup the phone again without some of the stuff Xposed has to offer.
List of modules:
Complete Action Plus - Used because Samsung's Complete Action feature is a bit gimmickly and this one allows you to properly setup which apps you want by default.
GravityBox - This is used because I want to change/remap my "recent key" to "menu" instead.
Greenify - no need to explain
Network Speed Indicator is perfect for the Notification Box. Yes this can be replaced.
PerAppFonts - Used to change the apps in my chat app... No replacement w/out Xposed
Samsung Camera Fix - Now I can launch Quickpic directly from Camera App
Screen Filter - Used with tasker to kill bluescreen that hurts your eyes
Secure Setting - Paired w/ Tasker since it can control GPS, Radios, Power Saving, and etc
Wanam - too many functions here
XHangouts - To edit Hangout settings
Youtube Adaway - blocks youtube ads
YourTube - Used for automatically selecting 4k stream and changing display menu at launch of Youtube App
God I wish this list wasn't so long that I became dependent.
Nope. I bought the device because I liked it. Not because I liked it and it could run xposed.

Dont think anyone will miss it really. You can always go back to kitkat and use xpose so it is not really a thing to "miss"
That is the joy of choices...new update because it got pretty colors and new lockscreen/notification settings? or stay with the old that does EVERYTHING you require from it?

Actually most of those mods have been manually added into some Lollipop Roms already. So no I won't miss xposed. It's better to have it as a built in for stability purposes

One thing that I use is Greenify GCM push. Seems like you can't use GCM push when Xposed doesn't work.

without Xprivacy, the android ecosystem is useless to me personally.
without the ability to keep my data, MY data, I would rather go get a iphone.
I do wish another option was available, a ton of usable mods are being hampered due to one add on (albeit a major one)
certainly not complaining since I can't code, Ill just stick with 4.4.4 and wait.
What about if you update and install dual Boot and run cm12 in the second ROM with xposed and that's it!!

Thanks buddy, very good to know Regarding stability, no question that your statement is fact. Shines some bright light on this news, posted by @rovo89 today along with news of a new LP alpha...
Regarding Samsung ROMs: No progress. No ETA. No promise that it will be supported, although I don't exclude it either. It's simply unclear what further differences between their and AOSP's ART variant come up.

I will personally miss the ability to use Xposed mainly due to the vast amount of customization options that it offers to users. While it is certainly preferable that various mods are baked into ROMs, there are some incredibly powerful modules that either can't or are highly unlikely to be included in any custom ROMs. I decided to go through the modules that I'm using and (attempt) to evaluate the likelihood/possibility that their effects could/would be included in a custom ROM (or replicated by non-xposed dependent apps). Here's my take, would love to hear the thoughts of others :good:
Amplify: Surely. Most ROMs improve battery life vs. stock anyway. Wakelocks/services/alarms can be "tamed" by other means.
CPU Freq in Statusbar: Maybe not in the statusbar, but Dynamic (Kat at least, have yet to try Pop) has it as well as the CPU gov in the notification panel. Better than "good enough"
Coolify: A newer module that I don't think many people are aware of... but absolutely should be! Giving it a look in the Play store will give you a better idea of what it does than a brief description. Really a fantastic app/module... frequently updated and each new version works better than the last! I also like that it shows the battery temp in the status bar. If I were crazy greedy, would prefer that it showed CPU core 0 temp, but I'm not, so happy to keep an eye on the battery I doubt that the full effect would be implemented in a ROM, but I'd think that it could be to some degree.
Greenify: Similar effect built into a ROM? Sounds like a TON of work... will be missed.
No lock home: Was very happy to learn that this is built into LP itself... good call!
PlayPermissionsXposed: A module I consider quite important but wouldn't expect to see it in a ROM. AppOps (already baked into ROMs) is far more useful though anyway.
UnbelovedHosts (paid version): Similar to AdAway, and KILLER as an addition to it. It's very rare that I see an ad of any kind on my phone. The unlock key allows to blocked hosts lists to be auto-updated. Will be missed.
Unicon: Purely cosmetic but I love this module. IMO it's the ultimate "UI consistency" tool. Along with my icon pack of choice (Velur, hands down) my (Nova Prime backed) UI looks... appealing Too "specialized" to be baked into a ROM I would imagine. Will really miss this one.
Xposed Additions (pro): Please tell me that there are LP ROMS that enable key remapping... PLEASE! (Can't handle menu key = recents. It's WRONG I tells ya! WRONG!!!)
XuiMod: Another strictly cosmetic effect, but SO SWEET! Allows you to use animations from various ROMs, so.... yeah.
Huge thanks @VeNuMuS for allowing me to view to inability to use Xposed in a different light. LP, here I come :good:
@jazzmachine
Not having Greenify paid options is going to suck bad. Especially GCM push
If you guys miss Screen Filter you could always download Twighlight from the play store
I do not plan on moving off my current setup until/if Xposed is fully up & functional with TouchWiz & Lollipop.
Unless T-Mobile is making Lollipop make my phone have secks w/ me... Nope, nah ah. Can't live without Xposed! :silly:
Don't use exposed. Don't see the value. Never have, never will

Found out how to change this..
You can use Root Explorer:
Make sure you grant root and Mount R/W
Then go to /system/usr/keylayout
Modify file Generic.kl
Look for "Key 254"
Change it to Menu, Save, exit, and reboot.
Now I need to figure out how to change double press home to launch recent apps.

CyanoGenMod 13 soon ?

Don't want to ruin the surprise but I think somebody is trying to develop CyanoGenMod 13 for us...

To be fair we work both on both devices. There's still nothing to celebrate as both builds are still flooded with bugs
Risky to test ? x)
I'm building a pure aosp rom right now , will test today and see what the bugs etc are.

It should just work (Internet, Phone, SD Card, sensors, etc.) - the camera had some colors off last time I built one,
but with recent kernel changes it should have improved

@CTXz has done a great job of squaring the sources for Cyanogenmod the, the repo is Sony Kitakami Platform Developer Organization A straight run of a build @ branch cm-13.0 should result in the following:
On my current build for the Z5P, @KbaB.BroS confirmed nfc and communications functional.
Bluetooth file transfer is working through cm filemanager send function, but legacy bluetooth apps may fail.
Media Playback, seems square, though access the microphone for audio recording is no go, though mic working in-call.
Camera is janky, and record function broken so screen record fails.
With the current state of Cyanogenmod, OpenGapps is working, Though due to mic issue OK Google crashes.
Rotation sensors are working, yay games.
Brightness is twitchy/dark, needs work.
CTXz, says omnirom has the storage issue sorted for exfat cards so i'm looking at vold to see if i can get it working.
Note: in house root is a bit twitchy, while system-less root is cool, i would recommend going the "traditional" route, BETA-SuperSU-v2.52
does well.
Trebuchet has issues when laying out wallpaper from gallery, Nova Launcher does not, so it's a problem with trebuchet.

Kind of ROM you guys want

As you may have noticed there isn't a lot of ROMs for the nexus 7 2013. Tell me what kind of nougat ROMs you want.
I'll build the ROM that has the highest amount of votes.
P.S if anyone's wondering i was the former SAOSP maintainer.
Simple, clean and fast...
-fast
-complete debloated
-oms support or dark ui
-maybe privacy guard and advanced reboot
-permissive + enforce bootable and tweakable kernel with non standard govs and hotplugs
-no preroot
-Fast
-oms support
-optional pixel navigation bar w/animation setting
I know that you already build DU for another device. Would like to see DU on Flo, I think it pretty much has the features that most of us would want. Thanks.
Mike T
I'd be super happy with a Lineage build that has cherrypicks for our device. Lineage and CM officials were always nice but the reason I started coming here was the optimized versions for various devices. Having somebody that knows our device and what extras to add or remove based on our chip/gpu/flash was always nice. Sort of what DevSwift1 was doing at the start.
I'd like to see substratum support as well but i generally don't run themes.
Purenexus or a similar experience. I'd love to get pixel features with this device and manage to pass safetynet.
If this is still an option, I would love to see paranoid on the n7 2013. It's amazing on my n6p. They always looking for a maintainer.
Of course omni is great too.
I would like the latest Paranoid Android to come to FLO! But, as an alternative,
The Major Features I would like:
- Clean, Debloated & Beautiful (latest Paranoid Android Wallpapers and Stock UI look gorgeous)
- Very, Very Smooth & Snappy
- Full OMS Support
- Built-In Kernel with best Performance-Battery Balance (you can modify the latest ElementalX Kernel to suit the need)
- No Pre-Installed Bloatware (cLock, OmniStyle, OmniJaws, CM/LAOS/Omni Browser, CM/LAOS File Manager, Terminal, Stats, MusicFX/AudioFX, etc.)
- Not an overwhelming amount of unused features, just the basic & adequate amount of customization (unlike Resurrection Remix, having an unending amount of pretty useless customization, which is a waste)
- Lowest possible System Footprint (System Partition space is a bit low on our FLO/DEB)
- Comes Unrooted (passes SafetyNet but can allow for Magisk)
- Regular & Meaningful Updates (Weekly Builds are better than Nightlies)
Additional Featues, which if implemented, would be lovely:
- Basic level of Built-In Themes/Accents (like OxygenOS' Light/Dark Themes and Multiple Accent Colours)
- Good System UI Animations & Animated Elements (like OxygenOS' Power Menu, which has animated & colourful large buttons instead of a list and allow for seamless Power OFF and Advanced Restart while looking beautiful)
- Use as much of Google Apps in the build (Google Calculator, Calendar, Camera, Clock, Contacts, Chrome & Email instead of other AOSP & Open Alternatives or make a zip to replace the built-in ones with the Google ones)
Please, make this happen! Upvote if you too wanted this ROM...
Thank you.
Thank you for developing a new ROM. It is great that there will be a new build for the old tablet. If you could include substratum, viper4android, or xposed framework with rootcloaking module (not that it can't be done individually), that would be awesome. Thank you again for bringing new life to Flo (aside from generic LineageOS builds).
Not to discourage you from doing your own thing, but if possible, I think it would be best if you build something with changes that could easily be merged into the latest nightlies of LineageOS. With the number of Nexus 7 2013 users dropping as the device ages I don't think it would be wise to splinter the community too much more than it already is
As similar to the stock one as possible. That means without root, with Google Apps, without non-stock features, and with stock kernel.
We got that, aosp rom, check it out
I want a nougat ROM that will work with VOIP/SIP apps like TalkaTone for the occasional phone call with the 2013 LTE device or through WiFi. It's been a month since I've tried but TalkaTone locks up with
every Nougat ROM I've tried with the 2013 LTE and Flo devices I have. Funny thing I picked up a used 2012 3G and it works like a charm with the Nougat ROM and the VOIP/SIP app TalkaTone. Kurt
Hi, a lean clean rom as described above - would love the addition of some of the features from Timurs rom v4 (on git hub) so can be used for a car install. There quite a community and we really need a decent updated rom. Features, power event manager including forced sleep on power off, USB host, USB DAC Support.
Don't forget the deb devices.
I just want SlimPIE.
Whats the status here, is there a new room coming any soon?
