Recently bought this S4,model I9515,brand new and sim free. When I first turned it on it was on 4.4.2 official kitkat which is also the latest.I’ve rooted it and deleted a lot of samsung crap.Been using it for a few days now,and I noticed that the battery is draining to fast.I attached some pictures so that anybody can tell me if this battery life is ok and Im just being wrong or not.
running up to fast or ?
well with 4 h in screen this seems pretty normal. i get a maximum of 3...
so since i updated my galaxy to to polnish version of 5.0.1 i feel like something is drinking up my battery, i dont have an enormous amount of applications. to describe how tragic is the situation is like if i touch it for some minutes writing some text in facebook mesenger i get a loss of 10% in 20 minutes, even if i dont touch at all my device after 8 hours for example it comes with a loss of 25% in battery. could it be a problem that i charge the phone with an 1000mah charger the problem (i dont have the original cable and charger)? i have already tried to reflash the rom with cleaning everything. i will try to post some real data screenshots from the battery app next days here...

Just don't care about how many mah the apps will tell you, the battery is charging anyway. I have a 3100 battery and battery monitor widget tell me 2100, but the phone stays longer than the 2600 battery, so I think that the battery is charging copletelly not only 2100 as the app tells me. Anyway you can change it in the setting of the widget if you want to.

after doing a clean install of the original lollipop rom i m getting back a lot of power. almost 5h on screen usage. Though i almost installed nothing on the handy and i disabled the most of the preinstalled applications. I m really discouraged about this, as it means that the problem is the android system itself... when i compare it with my company handy (iphone 5c) with the same applications and usage its like the half standby and 5c is far away from a up todate iphone ...
I hope we will get 5.1 as in a comparison on my nexus 7 from 5.0.1 to 5.1 it was like the double standby in hours.
I am having a problem battery
My brother, my s4, the battery is discharging very fast ,screen time is 3h , tell me a rom, the battery runs out slowly
can be any existing rom the world just want the battery to last
example
>reduce processor speed
>reduce screen quality
I use cyanogemod 13, with little battery life
there are significant bug fixes and performance enhancements in the latest version of Lollipop.
Will our phone see this upgrade which imo is highly required as it has been subpar since the move from Kitkat. I've noticed overheating and increased battery consumption in day to day use on lollipop.
With the American launch cancelled. Yota moving to sailfish and the poor sales, I feel doubtful.

I thought the sailfish rumour was just that: a rumour. Also, they might have cancelled the NA launch, but that doesn't mean that they stopped their development department. Yota has akwnoledged that the current Lollipop is far from optimal. So I am quite confident that Yotaphone 2 will get some version of Android 5.1.

Is there anyone working on an custom rom for the yotaphone 2?
I would like to participate, if possible,
thx
I was remaining confident for updates, especially as we know they're working on the yota 3. Sadly the facebook page replied to me the other day saying there were no plans to update to 5.1 or 6.0 . Hopefully thats not true or we at least get some build updates.
I bought this phone recently. As lovely as it is, it goes crazy hot for whatever reason and my battery just drains by lunchtime. What's the point of the e-ink screen if the battery is faulty anyway!

It is not the battery, it is some misbehaving app and/or system. I sometimes experience terrible battery life, but usually the battery lasts as advertised, up to 5 days. I personally keep the battery meter on the EPD which tells how much battery is left in days & hours. If it tells the battery will run dry in hours while you still have plenty of juice left, something is draining the battery. In this case I usually just reboot the device. Sometimes this helps, sometimes it doesn't...

Same here. Sometimes wither of my two YotaPhones (2) are getting burning hot. I noticed that GPS (for instance google maps navigation) running in the background is a reason for heat. In particular if arrive indoors and forgot to end the navigation. 5 day battery I only get in standby without GPS or WiFi. Certainly not the main selling point for me.
I don't have a Yotaphone 2 but looking at a pre-owned.
Have you try to clear cache and uninstall "Google Play Service" and reinstall. This usually solves the battery issue.
The answer is: will you ever be happy with any phone?
Jeopardy style,
Seriously, if you're curious enough to post here, why not email yotaphone; ask them and report back.
Indeed Lollipop sucks battery.
YotaPhone 2 Android Lollipop really is not well optimized, but it's a known problem of all the Android running Lollipop, and I am not sure if the issue is addressed on the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Yota has an open beta phase running at this moment with that version. Until it's released, Doze app and Greenify can greatly reduce the battery drain on Lollipop. Lollipop also wastes too much battery with WiFi, at least compared to KitKat, black colors on OLED screen also helps.

I have android 4.4 Y206, HK, so that is the reason.
Having had the original Moto Droid, and then the Bionic, and having owned Moto X (2013 DE) I've tried a dozen different supposed battery enhancers, screen adjusters, and so on and so forth. The phones nowadays are so complicated any tweaks involves complex interactions that any savings becomes almost purely anecdotal. Thus, I can only share a couple of my experiences.
Current Setup:
Moto X 2013 (XT1060) Verizon, Developer Edition (unlocked bootloader) running Lollipop (5.1) / LPA23.12-39.7 / Xposed w/ Mobile Radio Active Fix
Current Config:
* Greenify (w/ donate package)
* KinScreen (free version)
* YAAB (free version)
* LeanDroid (free version)
* Some tweaks done through Xposed / GravityBox.
Battery life monitored through BatteryMix
One observation: Screen always almost always consume the most juice, unless you have a bug like the mobile radio active bug.
Thus, it is no surprise that most apps tries to play with the screen settings, but there are at least 5 types of battery savers (6 if you count the root / kernel tweaking)
* Adaptive brightness doesn't quite do the job, but something like Lux.Lite may be a bit of an overkill. YAAB seem to be a decent compromise.
* The default screen on/off is not that smart, and there are variety of apps trying to anticipate your actions. KinScreen was one of them, as are apps like Screebl and Gravity Screen. And frankly I have both (registered too). So far, KinScreen seem to be the least user-friendly (it just presents a menu of choices) but apparently also the most logical if you understand the options given.
* I've tried the PixelOff battery saver for AMOLED screen but didn't notice much if any battery savings. And in any case this only works on AMOLED type screens.
* The additional configs like automatically disable WiFi, Bluetooth, Data, GPS, etc. doesn't save that much juice, and annoys the heck out of the system itself as well as the user. But this is the "obvious" goto, and old classics like JuiceDefender went for this approach. It can work, but may also make the system more aggravating. LeanDroid operates in a similar modality, but seems less aggressive, at least when I turned off its control of Bluetooth.
* Doze mode / Deep Sleep forcers are relatively new. I've tried Doze and Deep Sleep
battery saver. Former seems to work, latter didn't do anything for me when I tried it.
* If you are rooted, you can tweak kernel settings with apps like Kernel Adiutor but this is definitely superuser area, not for noobs, as the potential of making device almost unusable is high. Or you can go REALLY crazy with Xposed / Amplify and try messing with the services and whatnot directly, but that makes the system very unstable.
So, any way, what have I learned?
* NOTHING can save power if you are actively using the device. Most of these apps can only save power if you are NOT actively using the device.
* The more "aggressive" the battery saver app is, the more annoying the device is to use, esp. if you do use it for surfing, Facebooking, listening to podcasts, navigating, etc. Thus, you want a least intrusive app or apps.
* You want apps with least amount of memory footprint. That way, the system won't have to swap them out of memory, to load a different app (and that takes power). And some of these apps are surprisingly HUGE. You can check memory taken up in Settings / Apps / Running.
My personal standard of "success" is relatively low: if I can reduce the "idle consumption", i.e. phone idle, not surfing or playing podcasts, screen off, to about 6% per hour (so hypothetically the phone can last most of the day with occasional usage), that'd be good enough. I'd say I've barely succeeded, as you can tell from the attached screenshot. When idle, consumption is about 6% per hour. As soon as screen comes on, it pops up to like 16% per hour.
Altogether, not too shabby for a 3-year old phone, right?
What have you tried, and makes you believe that your favorite battery saver app works? Got any proof? Let's compare notes.
I was running stock rooted 5.1 until about a month ago. Greenify helped, but the two biggest things I changed aren't minor tweaks: I replaced the battery in January, which bumped up battery life a solid 30% or so, and I moved to a Marshmallow ROM (RR) and turned on "Doze Powersave" (not sure if that's different from native Doze or just a tweak of it). And that REALLY helped. Before I had to either plug in my phone at work or leave with a near-dead battery, now I get home and still at 60% or so.

How stable are the new CM ROMs... I moved to rooted stock 5.1 with xposed about 2 months ago because the newer CM13 builds were so unstable; and i needed a stable daily driver. Also got a new battery to make the phone more reliable.
Thinking of going back to being a flashaholic again. would you suggest starting with RR for good battery life??
I have a Batteries Plus near me and seems they can replace the batteries. I've noticed that the battery is no longer reading quite right at the very top or very bottom (rapid rises at 90% and rapid drop at 10%) so it could be battery problem.
I've changed my config yet again. Went back to Lux, Doze, and KinScreen, and eliminated LeanDroid. The phone will idle at as low as 4% per hour. Though as soon as screen comes on consumption is MUCH higher. It could be I set the phone to "interactive governor" in the kernel though.
Last time I tried MM ROM it was Resurrection Remix and I had some problem with it so had to restore my Nandroid backup. I'll have to give it another try.
I've found RR very stable, no issues so far. I think it's worth trying. I am running the July 11 build.
The phone now idles at 1% or less per hour if I'm not using it and it's sitting on a desk or windowsill. I am astonished.
And yeah, replacing the battery is a good idea. Get a replacement back though, the old one will not survive. I'm now sporting a teak back I found on aliexpress for $20. I bought the battery on Amazon for $5 and had a local shop do the job for $35 labor.
unplugged the charged phone at 145am, this is what it looked like 5 hrs later.
Switching to 2g whenever you aren't using the phone, saves a lot juice. 3g is a huge battery killer over time.
KinScreen hammers the system with wakelocks so I got rid of it.

You don't have the inaccurate battery reading bug? I've tried CM13, OctOS, and currently on Turbo ROM (all 3 are MM ROMs). All three have unreliable battery readings. Usually the phone will just shutdown without warning anywhere between 20%-50% battery "remaining". Around 50%-60%, the battery percentage will start nosediving.
Maybe you don't have that problem since you put in a new battery. I'm still on my original battery.
Another question: in your CPU usage and battery usage, does it list all your apps? On all of the ROMs I've tried, they're all not listing any apps/games. It only lists like SystemUI and screen. I think the reason it's not listing anything is because the battery usage reading is wrong for apps. Like it'll tell me a game that's been running for half an hour only used like 2mAh. I attached a screen of 13 minutes of CPU usage using 0mAh of battery.
The battery starts nosediving around 15% which seems to be common on the CM13 ROMs. It doesn't take too long to get down to the low digits from there. I've not let it run down entirely since my power key doesn't work and I'd have to reboot from recovery with the phone plugged in.
Yeah, I'm noticing this ROM isn't showing the apps usage like stock LP did. Huh. Rare that there's an option here showing less information than stock.
Past 6 months with this device:
stock KK, rooted, original battery ->
stock LP rooted, original battery (shorter battery life) ->
stock LP rooted, new battery (longer battery life) ->
MM ROM, new battery now 6 months old (even longer battery life)
10 bucks new original ex34 battery from ebay=new life
but phuk Moto for making battery swap difficult.
My Experience With The X
Hi, I'm french and i own a 2013 Moto X and lovin it !
It is a Moto X Developer edition 32GB XT1053 Black and White assembled in the USA.
This phone is so perfect, perfect form factor size, the moto dimple in the back, Amoled Screen, Average Battery-life, Stock rom and Moto gesture.
But The Stock Rom was a bit laggy and stuck on 5.1 so I tried many ROM : Stock Kitkat and Lollipop, Cm 11 and 12.1, and the 6.0 Rom like OctOS Oct-M but at the end of the day i always miss the moto app and the bugfree experience. And I don't like KitKat design, i prefer material design of Lollipop and Marshmallow.
As for me the perfect rom is a CM 13 Marshmallow rom with Doze, MM animation and other tweak.
But there is no Bugfree rom so i Stuck on Stock 5.1 Rom and use Greenify for the battery and Seeder for the lag issue.
Seeder is really a GAME CHANGER, it just change your phone, NO MORE LAG !!
I current use the lastest stock 222.201.1.ghost_row.Retail.en.EU vzw // LPAS23.12-15.5-1
I use TWRP 2.8.7.0 and my device is Root. Greenify + Seeder
Current Setting :
SuperSU
Greenify ( Donate Version ) I Greenify all the apps that i don't use daily
Seeder ( Paid Version ) Everything On and check, Moderate.
Google now launcher
Swiftkey Keyboard
Moto Screen On
Moto Voice OFF
Google Voice OFF
And now i enjoy a bugfree and flawless rom with good battery life.

Yes, I literally had a problem for over a year .. should've been in warranty but Moto played games .. I checked again & it will be atleast $100.00 dollars to fix/exchange swollen/bloated/pregnant battery .. So I started thinking .. I bet .. I can fix this myself .. for way cheaper .. I ordered from oem4less on Amazon.com for $12.35 & $1.99 shipping .. for the White Door & 2120mah battery combo with NFC & did it myself this week !! The shipping was faster than stated .. The back was already popped off of my phone.. So it wasn't too hard to fix .. I've spent close to that eating McDonald's so it was well worth a try !! I've used this phone for years usually just to tether .. but now I fell in_love with it again it feels and looks brand new .. I'm actually typing on this now .. I have zero lemon battery for my samsung note that's going through the conditioning process . I wish zero lemon made a extended battery for this !! But battery is fine, it last long and works well !!
that is what I call a wise move. Moto x can easily go for another two years
For anyone who is wanting to do this, just watch out for the flash ribbon attached to the rear cover. And it is not a bad idea to go ahead and order a rear cover itself for like 4 bucks. Be done

I deactivate "Doze" and downloaded Xposed -- PowerNap.
Had to dump LeanDroid as it's causing me problems.
Dumped YAAB and went back to Lux (paid) as I had a couple Tasker mods for Lux and YAAB doesn't handle curves of brightness well.
Still can't tell if KinScreen is better or worse than GravityScreen.
My idle power consumption almost to nil or down to maybe 3-4% per hour with PowerNap activated but not engaged. I'll post a BatteryMIx screenshot later.

I had to turn off motion sensing in GravityScreen because I realized it was really eating up my battery. Right now it's just using the light sensor but not completely certain if it's still draining my battery.
I just changed my battery last weekend. Best idea ever. I must've really done my old battery wrong because with this new battery I swear I have 2x-3x the battery life than I was getting before.
Will start messing with things and testing battery life. Currently using a CM13-based (MM) ROM (OctOs) and just installed Amplify because my idle time wasn't satisfactory at all. Feels like built-in Doze does nothing.
KinScreen often just "dies" on me, does not switch screen on at times. I got horribly annoyed that I went back to GravityScreen. I turned off the "motion" settings in Gravity Screen. My screen response upon phone pickup is much better now, and I don't have this black screen problem any more.
Yesterday I got the best results yet. Idle drain with screen off is 3.3% and that's great. That's with Greenify (w/ Xposed / Donate), PowerNap (Xposed), Lux (paid), and GravityScreen (paid). PowerNap is set to engage at 80% and 20% respectively.
Hi guys, I have a new Moto X (amazing and beautiful phone). On stock lollipop I have an huge battery life with moderate use. So the question is:
What is better for battery life?
a) stock rooted kitkat
b) MM rom (what rom?)
Hope someone can reply Thanks to all guys!
Personally on my original Moto X I'm using the Debloated Lollipop. With PMP to disable location / wakelock on certain apps. I get about 2 days battery on moderate use. Email and whats app running in the background
Sorry but what's PMP?

It's an xposed module. Think Xprivacy but simpler.
It let's me disable wakelocks on app by app base.

Also use boot manager to prevent apps from auto starting.
One thing I don't use anymore is greenify.
Hello,
Please help , I 'm new in this forum .
My English is not good and therefore it is for me very laboriously to search the points all the posts .
I bought a new Yotaphone . 2
It is installed following firmware: the build number is : KTU84L.4.4.3 - S01-003 - VIT.0.3.50a
There is no automatic firmware update .
Yotaphone informed me that this is a Vodafone firmware and therefore there is no update .
I want to use the Yotaphone to 90 % of GPS navigation with the E - Ink display on my mountain bike .
Therefore is important for me, that is the ROM stable and has little battery drain .
What Firmware version can you recommend me .
I live in Germany and the menu language should be in German .
I have read that is to be flashing with the tool YotaPhoneFlasher .
Where there is a detailed guide , so that nothing 's wrong when flashing and the unit is then scrap .
(wrote with Google Translate)
Thanks
Dieter
There is no one to help me?
Can you go into settings then tap about phone and tell me what android version you are running? Are you running android 4.4.3?
A lot of people have said that KitKat (android version 4.4.3) is better then other firmwares for battery life. So if your running 4.4.3 then stay there for now.
I haven't used KitKat on yotaphone (android version 4.4.3) but I can tell you don't update to lollipop (android version 5.0) if you need good battery life.
Use RU ROM they are updating very frequently.
Battery life on Marshmallow Beta seems quite good to me, so that's something to try

2.5 hours with 60% Battery Left - That is very good.
I upgraded only today early morning with literally no extra applications installed except WhatsApp. In fact, with Titanium Backup, I uninstalled few Google and Yota Apps which I never use. Waiting to evaluate the battery life in few days.
Hi there,
EPD + GPS for sunlight-navigation sounds like a good idea with the yotaphone 2. Especially in direct sunlight.
I had great experiences with that phone regarding battery life using EPD only.
BUT you should keep in mind that yotaphone has a rather small battery (2500mAh) compared to similar phones on the market at the moment.
GPS navigation uses alot of power for GPS itself and CPU power for navigation. So a normal screen would only cause 30-40% on normal displays with full brightness in summary.
If you compare pure battery power with other cheap phones like xiaomi redmi 4 pro/prime (4200mAh) and a decent LCD IPS this could also work out for you + better bad light/night time usability.
€dit: would still go with the yotaphone since it has a galaxy S5 grade AMOLED display
Hello,
I dont really found centralized information about Oreo and feedbacks regarding battery life.
So please, people from Korea and North America, can you provide some feedback about Oreo update, especially about the battery life ?
I heard some negative opinion from this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5hH0TQY6Jg
Before he was at 5-6h SoT, after update 3-4h
Thanks !
It was entirely predictable and expected that there would be no improvement in battery life or performance with Oreo despite all the anticipation.
I have literally NEVER seen a major operating system upgrade actually speed up performance of identical apps on the same device. Sometimes there might be a non-significant decline, but never an improvement.
Each Android upgrade promises some new trick to improve battery life like wakelocks etc, but it's only theoretical and perhaps applies only to brand new hardware.
Otherwise the progressive process of bloating in updated apps and system software use more power and more resources which more than compensate for the supposed improvements in efficiency
I think the few reports that have mentioned improvement are just the random variation that people get, even with Nougat, or even day to day on the same device.
Sometimes I get 1% standby drain per hour and sometimes 3% with no change in use or settings. I have found no consistent way to control this, including trying all of the tips mentioned (except for wiping my phone and starting from scratch).
So far the video reviews that I have seen of Oreo on the G6 are pointedly unexciting and confirm my predictions. As far as I am concerned the only reason to update is for the security patches. I am hesitant to update given that going backwards is difficult on a unrooted device.

I am hesitant to update given that going backwards is difficult on a unrooted device.

maybe some little improvements are made, sure, nothing big to say its a major update, NO!
is almost only a Android version bump and a security patch. PERIOD...
The features this new version introduced is low and people who update the phone dont will see a big change, i already see some videos of update in youtube and didnt see too much difference.
Of course is a good thing LG doing it but isnt night and day,is more like some hours of difference.
Lets see with time to time the Doze mode and power savings features step in and see some change in battery life, i trust LG make something to improve it, again nothing special but for me that already make a difference.

2 remarks :
From my experience, I never saw an android update improve battery life too. But that was a long time ago, with "cheap" phones (expect nexus 4, so disappointed). But recently, a friend bought a Nokia 8, and after the Oreo update, the battery has become so amazing, I was really really suprised and so jealous! So now I still have a little hope ...
However concerning standby drain, for me it's pretty ok. In airplane mode lost 0 or 1% for all night, and with data or wifi, it stays "normal".
You guys have something else going on.like the first post said it depends on day to day and other factors like many apps running in back ground. My phone and battery have 0 issues.on full charge it stays at 100 for about 10min on heavy internet use and then drops about 2percent per hour.I only charge my phone every 3 days.I also found phone much faster after oreo and less studder.I suppose because part of the update is to have less apps running in background.I wouldnt really listen to some users because the change log for oreo is huge.Soooooo many changes under the hood.people should read the change log before giving false facts(and they are false)Always gonna have some dude complaing about something

Did you make some improvements like disabling logs and reducing resolution ? Any reset after oreo ?
I disabled event logs yes.kept screen on large size and no resolution change.Yes I did a factory reset immediately after.I think alot of people are having issues with battery because they dont calibrate it first when new out of the box.As a rule of thumb no matter what electronics i buy i always charge to 100 percent and literally let it drain to 0 percent then full chage again.Do this step twice in a row and i can pretty much guarantee you wont have issues with battery that are out of the ordinary.LOVE MY G6

Hello,
I dont really found centralized information about Oreo and feedbacks regarding battery life.
So please, people from Korea and North America, can you provide some feedback about Oreo update, especially about the battery life ?
I heard some negative opinion from this video :
Before he was at 5-6h SoT, after update 3-4h
Thanks !

I just got the upgrade on my g6+ batterie Went bad. .....I started to analyse battery usage and i found that chrome browser was one of the cause ..So i change it for Microsoft edge browser. ..now my battery is draining less. ....So i hope that did the trick. .......and i also cancel all other apps that i did not use
Almost 6h of SoT with heavy gaming. Doesn't sound bad to me. ?View attachment 4508939View attachment 4508940
It's strange that there is so much different experiences between people. This is not reassuring!

There are people that mainly use the phone under a wifi connection, and others that use it under a mobile network, this is just an example to give you an idea of why there is much difference between users
Y kllua but people are complaining regardless of wifi or mobile network. My package includes 6gb of network per month every month i spend 4gb etc...
And lots of people i see have bluetooth, nfc ( if they even thats in or what it even is. ) and then comes some1 like you and says ooo wifi on. What im gonna use at home ? Data ? To consump battery and empty my month data, and what im gonna use on streets, work, free time outside house etc. Mobile fking data. You think wifi is all around us

Well, my G6's battery sucks because at work the phone switches every couple of minutes to all the networks, and so I'm not able to reach home after 9-10 hours with 1-2 of SOT without charging a 20-30% during lunch, besides in weekends where I'm almost everyday under a wifi connection I easily reach 4-5 hours of SOT with gaming in a full day usage.
Also yes, there are many other parameters, like BT, NFC, GPS, Apps ecc...
So finally got Oreo thanks to LG Brigde.
The battery stock app seems really... broken ? Please see screenshots.
The message says : "2 days ago , 1h27min left the conversation."
PS : I made a factory reset after the oreo update.
Mine has actually improved! I'm getting like 30 minutes more (the improvement came after I drained the battery almost completely and charged it back like 3 times and after a factory reset). Not much but I can't complain. I'm actually happy for the improvements in fast charge speed, it's even faster now.
Third day with Oreo now.
Battery life is great, at least as good as before. I have 3.5h of screen on time right now and I'm at 43% battery at the end of a full work day with traveling etc.
And that's with Nova Launcher, Gesture Control [root], Always on Display and Pixel live wallpaper enabled.
Very happy with the G6 at the moment. Of course battery life always depends on your personal use and different phones provide better battery life for different people... G6 seems to work well for me and definitely better than the Huawei P9 I had before.
For people with battery life issues I suggest this: Battery life guide (I keep resolution at max because it messes with AOD and camera)
and also if you don't use google voice assistant try disabling the google app and use the chrome search widget instead. And keep location services on battery saving mode if you don't need GPS all the time.
