PS: i recommend using it when you first reinstall the rom, so that none of that apps have been updated. but, if you want, you can use this script even from an old install, just be sure to uninstall update from the app it will remove, otherwise they will stay not as system app but as user app.

Does this mean , the updated app will remain as user apps that can be uninstalled normally??

can't this(^) be done by using the script? Because, there are so many apps whose data and cache are to be removed.

A question for you. I have been looking everywhere but could not find a solution.
I am using firewall to filter calls and messages. Also I am using app protector pro to protect applications like settings, installer etc. The risk is, any one accessing to your phone can easily remove the apps (i.e App protector pro or Firewall etc..) from the app drawer (app drawer > menu > edit then touch the app to remove). Only 3rd party apps can be removed this way and not the system apps.
If there is a way to treat the 3rd party apps as system app then this accidental/mischief removal of apps can be stopped.
Is there anyone help in this..
Thanks in advance.
Hi guys,
Any thoughts in this issue.
Please help.... this may help many of the forum users..
Hey smohanv,
This will be my first post in this forum because I think I now have the knowledge to help others
So here it goes!
I used SGS Tools to remove some of my system apps.
Open SGS Tools > Cleanup System Apps and you can select which ones to delete.
It didn't took all system apps btw, I still had a few meaningless apps which I couldn't delete.
For these apps I used Root explorer to delete them manually. Be carefull tho, don't delete stuff you don't know.
Good luck.
Alright I now see my first post on this forum is a complete fail
You meant something else, treat the 3rd party apps as system apps so they won't get deleted.
Good question on which I don't know the answer yet but I did give you a bump hehe
Someone else has any suggestions?
Hi
Thanks for the response. The question is not about removing system app. The question is, how to prevent apps getting uninstalled by anyone seeing your phone. From the OS Froyo onwards, any app can be (except system app) removed just by invoking menu > remove by touching the icon.
If you have root you can copy the .apk of the app to /system/app.

Yes, as xxbeanxx said, if you have root, you can move the apps you want to protect into your /systems/ directory through ADB or through the Terminal app and that way it will not be available through the TouchWiz drawer delete option.

Thanks for the workaround. I have rooted phone. Can the apk file be moved to system/app folder using root explorer.
Thanks again. If it works through file explorer than using adb or terminal app many forum users can benefit.

Hi
It worked. Thanks for the suggestion. I copied the installed apk from data/app folder to system/app folder and restarted my device. It works.
Many thanks.
Hi, I accidentally installed an apk with a name of "cracked app" as described here:
http://www.gfi.com/blog/cracked-android-apps-dabble-in-ad-clicks/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+SunbeltBlog+(GFI+Labs+(OLD))&utm_content=Google+Reader
I have uninstalled it but I fear that it remained on my device and will do things like credentials thief etc. How can I make sure it's gone?
Thanks.

Factory restore will get rid of it

I don't know if there's anything to get rid of and I don't want to do a factory reset without being sure because I have just finished customizing my Nexus 4. Is there any way to check if it still exists?
Hi,
With a file explorer check mainly in /data/data, /data/app and /data/app-lib if there is the app, app package name, or anything related to this app.
Or easier with the file explorer do a search with the app name or a part of the package name.
If there are some files related to the app, delete them (but be sure it's related to this app...).
The only thing I have in /data folder is a log.txt file which contains one line that looks like (X for folders):
../../../X/X/X/X/X/ connect_ads_manager_android.cpp(29):AdsManager::adsmanager w(320) h(48)

Are you sure you follow the paths I have indicated?
The log.txt is related to scriptmanager if I'm not wrong.
The paths you mentioned don't exist in my /data folder.. (root path)
You are rooted?
In your file explorer have you an option like "Show hidden files / folders"? If yes activate it.
I am not rooted, I am using File Explorer and I've checked the "hidden files" option.
Where is the data folder located?

Were you trying to get an app for free? :/
The best thing to do would be a factory reset. That way, you'd have the peace of mind that there is no leftover files remaining on the phone.

Cracked apps are just paid apps most of the time that people try to get from places like aptoide. It will not hurt your phone just uninstall and you are good to go.

What I have downloaded is a free app that isn't available in the Play Store. Can I check that it has done nothing to my device? It would be a great relief.

I don't think anyone can say with absolute certainty if you are safe. They can tell you steps to try to see if any remnants are left behind but that's about it. I personally think you should run the flash-all.bat file which comes with the stock image to wipe and clean everything.

All system apps sgould be in system/app.They are a bit hard to be deleted.
Whereas user apps can be easily uninstalled via settings or so.
You need user apps to be in data/app.

then use link2sd to uninstall the system app - download it from market and then convert it to system app again with link2sd and restart if thats what you want to do
you can update system apps from market but they will not replace the system app - instead you have a duplicate app which means if you uninstall the update it will roll back to the version that orig system app was
if you want to overwrite the system app with the new version simply use link2sd to intergrate update into system then restart

yes in a sense
you will have the orig system app in system/app and then the new version stored in data
so if you uninstalled the new version it will roll back to the system app which you cannot uninstall by normal means (you can uninstall system apps with link2sd)
if you look through apps with link2sd anything with the word updated next to it in green means its a system app that has been updated by the user and so the update can be intergrated into system if you wish
Hey
Could someone create a flashable zip to remove system apps (Google apps, games, Huawei bloatware, Facebook, Vmall etc.) and to install some apps ???

First of all there isn't a flash zip available. Second is that it isn't that hard to remove system apps via link2sd (it's similar to uninstalling an app) and third Huawei allows user to remove some pre installed (like mirror, compass,fb,clean master and some games) apps. By the way why do you want to uninstall gapps?
Hi Flashaholics out there.
One of the common issues with people who frequently flash roms is removing those unused system applications.
There are various methods of doing this.
Using apps like Titanium Backup to Freeze.
Deleting apps from /system/app or /system/priv-app using root explorer apps.
mounting system partition in Twrp and removing respective directories etc.
But when flashing multiple roms every day/week . after a few times even these methods seem boring and time taking (atleast I am lazy to do this).
So i just modified the updater script in a twrp flashable zip to remove unwanted apps.
Link to download : https://goo.gl/5zQWNd
Here is the list of apps removed.
AntHalService,
BasicDreams,
Calendar,
Email,
ExactCalculator,
messaging,
NexusLauncher,
OnePlusCamera_Luis,
OnePlusGallery_Luis,
LatinIME,
GoogleCamera_Luis,
AudioFX,
Eleven,
Gallery2,
Gcam,
OnePlusCamera,
OnePlusCameraService,
Trebuchet
Added
SwiftKey keyboard app to data partition.
Instructions :
Flash your Rom along with Gapps, Root Package , Modules etc in usual manner.
Flash this zip file.
Reboot.
Incase anyone want to modify/add/delete/undelete any of the folders, apps you are free to modify the contents of the Updater script.
Hit Thanks button.

You should definitely add a disclaimer stating that users who use this zip should NOT expect any support from their ROM maintainers.
Deleting system apps is can cause several issues and it would be very unreasonable to expect support after you have made so many modifications.

I am very open to add such Disclaimer if i really remove something that can cause an unstable system.
But whatever apps i removed are just basic apps and DO NOT effect the system in any manner.

Check your device logs once you've removed these apps and compare them with logs from before you remove them. Modifying system files definitely has an effect on the system.

As long as you don't open these apps they won't be having any effect.
Anyways you are free to use / edit / share this zip file. No compulsion.

I know this is an old topic, but anyone know a Flashable Zip to actually freeze an app? (Not remove)
I want to know how to create such uninstaller files!!
Bcoz the rom I'm using isn't rooted and I don't want to root it!!
Rooting often makes my device unstable and so I want to delete system apps without rooting using these ZIP files!!!
