Has anyone figured out how to turn it off. I have unchecked it in settings, deleted the account and reinstalled the account but it still shows conversation view.

I've developed an issue in where Gmail no longer seems to sync by itself even though I have it turned on with background data enabled. Any ideas? It's getting annoying having to sync manually each time I want to check my email.

did you check the data synchronization option in settings is enabled or not?
Yes. It's checked off.
On my Galaxy S3, when I ran the Facebook app for the first time and signed in, it popped up a screen asking if I wanted to sync contacts and I could choose to sync all contacts, just the contacts that were already on my phone, or no contacts at all.
I installed the Facebook app on my Nexus 7 and that screen doesn't appear. When I logged in for the first time, it just went to the regular status updates page.
If I go into Settings - Accounts, and click on my Facebook account, there's a check mark next to Contacts for them to be synced. Also, if I go into the People app's settings and go to "Contacts to display" my Facebook account is listed there and I have it set to display all contacts, but none of my Facebook contacts are listed.
Any idea how I can get this to work? Thanks.
Haxsync!

You need an app like HaxSync or a custom rom that has Facebook sync baked into it.
Nexus devices don't have it stock apparently because of Google and Facebook dispute over the API or something its the same on Gnex and Nexus S
Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried HaxSync, but unfortunately it doesn't do what I want.
HaxSync pulls down Facebook info for the contacts that already exist on my phone, but that's all it does. What I want to do is add all of my Facebook contacts to the people app, even if they're not listed on my phone already.
Go into the HaxSync account in settings, click Preferences, Contact Settings, and uncheck "Existing Contacts Only" ..you may need to delete the account and re-add it to force it
Exactly! ^
The only reason I use haxsync is for photos for contacts. It does its job flawlessly.

Click to collapse
Thanks! That works.
Recently purchased a nexus 7 for my family (kid mostly). I set myself up as a primary account and gave the kid a dummy gmail user/account. My fiancee is also using the tablet on her own gmail account.
My account lets me set Google Sync options under the normal settings menu. Their accounts are grey'd out sync icons and no check boxes to set what can and can not be sync'd. This isn't a problem for the kid really, but my fiancee wants her gmail syncing.
Any ideas what other configuration setting I need to fix?
Thanks
I figured it out. When I turned off the sync option using the power toggles widget for my kids account it also turned it off for my fiance's account. I actually had to use the widget to turn on the auto sync as the auto sync option under the settings was not available until then.

Hi all
In love with this phone but one niggly very irritating issue I haven't been able to get around.... Calendar shows all Facebook birthdays and I can't seem to turn this "feature" off. Any ideas???

Try to get in Calendar, and on the screen at top left side you have three lines, it opens options of calendar view and on/off each calendars. Try to off some - involved with fb.
Tried that. Sadly none of them effect the Facebook birthdays.

Are you using Xperia with Facebook app?
You can see if this app is enabled in auto sync in settings. If yes, then, click on it and there you will see Calendar option under Application control setting, uncheck it and it will remove all the calendar related stuff from the phone.
I also uncheck the Calendar sync option within the Facebook app setting which you access from inside the app.
Hope this help you. If it doesn't work try logging out from the FB app, clearing its cache and login again and make sure you remove this check before everything sync, otherwise you will have same issue.
Hello, since I've updated to Nougat earlier this week I stopped getting email notifications from my yahoo emails on the Gmail app. I still get notifications on my actual Gmail email account though. When I open the app that's when I suddenly get my yahoo emails. Anybody with the same problem or solution to this problem?

Either the account is no longer added or the notifications for it are turned off. Open the Gmail app and pull out the drawer from the left edge. Select 'Settings' at the bottom of the drawer list.
If you see your Yahoo! account in the list with your gmail account, tap it and make sure 'Notifications' is ticked. The settings for which ringtone would be used is directly below the aforementioned option.
If you do not see your Yahoo! account, tap 'Add account' and follow the prompts to re-add your Yahoo! account.
Feel free to ask for further assistance. Take care.
P.S.
Just saw that you are getting the emails in the app.
I would check your sync settings. Settings->Accounts. Make sure everything is set to sync up. You could also try removing and re-adding the account for the fun of it. I will do some research on this and try to duplicate the problem on my end.
Sync settings are as they should be and notifications is checked. I'll maybe try to reset the Gmail app.
