So i just bought the note 2 a few weeks ago and desided to give me brand new never scratched mind condition S3 to my girlfriend. In 5 days she dropped it between the elevetor crack and fell down 9 floors !!!
When we finally found the phone (thanks to the elevetor guy) i checked the phone several times in detail and found that the only thing that was broken was the glass in front of the screen the screen worked perfectly (i could still use the phone btw touch worked) .
Samsung i love you..
https://www.dropbox.com/s/3ae1cwm6z6ugx4j/20121024_153106.jpg heres a pic of the phone (cant upload to xda for some reason..)
So she dropped her phone through the 1inch gap between the floor and the elevator....really??

Cool, a Skrillex test: one hell of a drop! :silly:
(Apologies to XKCD)
I dropped mine to a hard ground from normal standing height and I thought it was bad enough until I saw yours.
Anyway mine just got some unnoticeable scratch and works perfectly.
That kind of robustness could only be found in older Nokia phones. :good:
We wannt see pics.... We want pics.....with the elevator crack and the screen !!!
Hmmmm sorry I don't seem to believe your story, I smell troll

Impossible. The Elevator crack is too small..and i dont think that the phone drops exactly into it -.-
Such pessimists, I've seen old school elevators where there are couple inch gaps and you can see all the way down. I believe the guy, and if it's fake, with a mind like that, he should be writing literature
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
I think I believe him!
Well, kudos to Samsung, I suppose. The only weak spot on our phone is made my Corning. (>_>)
I love Samsung and I believe S3 is pretty resistant. Depends on how is dropped. But she should had very bad luck and dropped the phone on the bezel in order to fit that space between elevator... that's why I want to see the elevator.

dropped mine on the treadmill @ 10km/h...shot out pretty quick...thank God for screen protectors lol...
Dropped mine from a pub roof, survived with minor chips off the corner,
As for the elevator, did your phone grow wings on the way down and did you or the other half take any funny looking tablets before this all happened?
I think u have had way too little sleep

9 floors? really? is someone willing to perform a Myth Buster? i surely wont because due to physics, there would be more damaged..unless it had on an iron man suit.
my friend dropped his while walking and the phone bounced and flipped many times, the battery cover popped off and the bezel was effed. messed up part about it, it happened right after he purchased it from the phone store.

I was just cleaning off my screen and I noticed theres some dust under the screen in the front camera hole. There's dust, and some stuff that looks like ice crystals or salt. It's been in my pocket all day and I think it's really weird. I'm not going to RMA or anything, because I will probably never use the front facing camera anyway. I always use the back
I too have dust in my front facing camera. Not a big deal but really LG? The build quality may look good on this phone but it's actually pretty bad. This is my fourth phone. I'm not rma-ing again.
You can easily take out the back cover and remove it.
You just need a #5(?) torque screw and a prying tool to open the back cover.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I don't understand why OEM's cant manufacture a phone with a proper dust seal gasket. It drives me absolutely nuts when there is dust under my screen. My old HTC Desire HD had dust under the screen within a week of purchase, and i took it back to telus. Unacceptable.

I shouldn't have to do this. I would rather rma it than possibly damage the phone and void the warranty.

It's not the rma that is a pain, it's setting my phone up again that is.
I just bought a nexus 4 on Tuesday and have been literally babying the phone like I would a baby. I have heard all the issues of a cracked back screen from wearing tight jeans etc. and it has me worried. Are those unfortunate defects just a manufacturing process gone wrong, luck of the draw? Am I right to be concerned or am I just being a wimp?

I've have my Nexus 4 for a few weeks now and it's not as fragile as everyone was making it out to be, at least not the newer models with the 2 bumps on the back.
I have that version and the back doesn't seem to be glass. Tapping on it, it makes a different noise in comparison to the front. I'm probably wrong.

you're partially correct there's a plastic back and there's a glass back, I'm guessing the glass one was left over and the plastic is for the newer models being pushed out.

I have a 211k rev 10 (Made in November 2012), and I have had no issues with cracking or anything. I didn't even run a case for 5 months or so, and I dropped it twice without a case from ~4.5 feet up (The second time it got slammed out of my hand, my friend was getting into his music a little too much)
All this talk of skinny jeans...... I know that's the new style but damn I'm 33 and can bare the sight much less wear them. Too funny!

Its almost completely fine, there is a tiny scuff on one corner (amazingly) anyway I was just asking in case there's anything I should worry about. The phone appears to be OK and has been used since then and is typing this, but I'm worried about any damage happening inside the phone or any damage to the battery. Will my phone be OK? Thanks

I live in a country with lots of local store that can fix, replace broken phones so that might not apply to your case sadly

Reminds me of the time I was out on my mountain biking and got cold hands so pulled my gloves out , at the same time my phone also came out.
Hit the concrete did at least 30 flips and slid across the floor 10 to 20 feet.
I walked over to it expecting the worst. There wasn't a single scratch on it . The case had stood up proudly.( cheap one )
Then I read on this forum that folks have smashed the back glass just by putting it in there jeans pocket.
Seems like some devices maybe have a better build quality then others.
We must be the lucky ones.
Also from the U.K maybe they ship better phones here . Ha ha
Phone : Nexus 4 /Rom : cataclysm / Kernel : Stock.
Prepare to be severely disappointed with scratch resistance. It scratches at a level 3 hardness.

A lot of good Gorilla Glass 5 did for me... two days after getting my phone I drop it 6 inches onto concrete and the screen cracked. It landed on the vulnerable corner of the screen. I've submitted an insurance claim but it's backordered and it will still cost me $250. The Sprint store said they could do a screen replacement for $100 but they won't have the part for 3 months! I can't believe this... I've never ever broken a screen before, I always treat my phone as if it were worth its weight in gold (which isn't too far from the truth). I had a case on order at the time, but it hadn't arrived yet, just my luck.
