Does anyone know of a app that will password protect folders that are on the SD card. Or hide the folder altogether.
I've tried a few from the app store that hide certain videos from showing up in the gallery, but the folder is still accessible with Explorer.
Here's the situation
I have certain videos on my sd card in a milkvr folder that I don't want people to see. While hidden from the gallery they are still visible and playable from milkvr.
I'm rooted and encryption is disabled on my device if this makes a difference.
Also anyone know of a nice little music player that works well with viper?

Try using this and lock the file manager and much more one of my favorite apps. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rickclephas.fingersecurity
Not quite what I'd like to do.
Would just like to lock the folder or hide it on sd card
Some apps can hide it but they end up pulling it into the internal memory which isn't gonna work for me

File Hide Expert works for me. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tonado.boli.hermit.hider&hl=en
That's actually what I'm using now. Hides the videos well enough from the gallery, but does nothing to hide folder on sd card

Hide from who? Isn't it all encrypted anyway?
Correction this is exactly what I was looking for.
Had fast mode enabled and it's not supported on this device

Has anyone tried this? I downloaded and tried putting a video in there and it didn't go in the vault, yet its not in my gallery. I don't think it deleted, but how would I find the video. Thanks in advance
I'm GreyBlured!
Vaulty didn't work for me. I found an app called "Hide My Pics" by Anuj Tenani that does the job and despite the name works for videos and apps as well, though I haven't tried hiding apps. It disguises itself as an app called "Audio Manager" that also does work for changing ringer, notification, etc. volume. Note that it stores the files on internal storage, not the SD card, so if your files are on SD they'll be moved over.

Yeah I found a better app just wish I could find my stuff that I lost. It seems as if it would have just renamed the files so the gallery would not recognize it so I dont tthink it would be deleted

I have always used "gallery" to view pictures that I have stored on my external micro SD card. This new ATT galaxyS4 doesn't allow it. It only displays pictures that are stored on the internal SD card.
I got root and use an app called "root explorer" is the only way to view the pictures I have stored, which is ok but there is no slide show function in root explorer.
I postponed the update that came in over the airwaves, but it processed last night while asleep. I don't see any difference except it's not rooted anymore. Gallery is still limited to viewing only the onboard chip that's full of bloatware.
Does anyone else notice gallery not seeing the external SD?

Storage and reading of the external SD card for pictures works great for me.
One thing to note if you are having problems with the gallery, is to reformat the SDCard in the phone.
I was getting laggy gallery images, and a high battery drain from the Gallery.
Reformatting the SD card cleared up all my problems!
When you open gallery, hit menu and content to display. Make sure all is selected.

Is there anyway to save all downloaded pictures/screenshots to the SD card? I wiped my phone the other day and my downloaded pictures got deleted because it was in Internal Storage

If you use stock browser anything downloaded will go to external sd. Camera also asks you to save pictures on external sd when inserted, if not it can be changed in camera settings.

If you save a picture that was texted to me, it saves internally rather than on the SD card. Is there is anyway to fix this?

I stuck a different 32 gb class 10 microSD chip in the external memory slot and gallery started working finally.
So I assume the chip I've always used needs formatting sounds like.
Thank you for the feedback.
I have a similar issue as OP. I have a 64gb Sandisk SDXC, and it came straight over from the S3 and the S4 gallery didn't see my pix from the card either nor the music player see all my music. I have to format the card in the phone then copy everything over from pc to phone via usb for the gallery and music player to see what's on my ext card. Then the phone restarted by itself, and it says the sd card is damaged, then the OTA update came just in time, updated, amd magically the Sd card was fixed, now it only see select videos and images and still none of my music. If it's in the inter sd then it's fine.
Do you guys think my sd card is shot?

It sure sounds like it. My chip still works, all I did was use the computer to format it.
The only way to tell is get another chip and put some files on it for a test.
It ticks me off they don't even populate the external SD slot with a cheap chip like they used to. ATT phones used to come with a one or two gigabyte capacity bottom dollar chip for free but alas they got even more greedy!

I used foldermount and moved the DCIM folder to the external sd, so all the setting have it looking at the mounted folder on the internal card, even the burst shots are stored right onto the external. the longer I've had foldermount, the happier i am with it. endless possibilities!
Hello xda forums, I want to ask you about moving apps2sd card. By a little research I have found out that moving apps to sd card is a thing. Now I want to do it but I wont seem to be able to get the option "move app to external drive/usb device" or whatever option. I just want to know how to enable it.. A way of not requiring any computers just doing all by my phone would be great..
Also, if you are going to say "oh, why are you moving your apps to sd card" or anything similar like that, please just dont.. say that to google, not me, I don't care, I have lots of big apps and my storage is full...
Thanks...

1) Open Play Store.
2) Search for Folder Mount.
3) Install app.
4) Upgrade to pro.
5) Use it to move large app data to your external SD and create a symlink in the original location.
I realize that you're actually asking about the native apps to sd ”feature,” but I don't think you quite understand what it actually is and is not. It does move apps to your SD, and that is it- only the .apk is moved. The data, which is why those apps and games are so big, remains on your internal. As such, it does not save you any appreciable space. To do that, you're going to have to use a third party app.

Folder mount didn't really help. What I got to do is to move the whole app, the apk of the app, that can be done using system right? I feel like I should be able to enable it somehow.. Any ideas?
(What I need to do is to move the apk that can be reached via Root Browser, theee are many apks with the size between 30-100 mbs, eventually taking up too much space)

When I download files they are stored automatically to the internal storage, is there a way to download files to my external SD card automatically?
Haven't received my phone yet so I can't answer your question directly but you could use Redirect (Pro) from Play Store to move and sort them after they are downloaded

The SD card is NOT for read/write access in this phone. Its solely for pics you may already have on the card and or stored music. Once you put the sd card in the phone allows you to save any new pics and videos to SD card. Unless you root, you cannot use the sd card the way you're trying to use it.

Not quite true, speaking for the global model, go into settings , then applications followed by application manager, tap on the application you want to move, then tap on storage and finally you will see the change dialogue. This will give you the option to move to sd
Sorry im only speaking of the us model with snapdragon 820.

Hmmm, thanks for the awnsers, I have Exynos btw, yeah moving apps is an option but might slow down the performance.
I actually mean downloading files from internet, onedrive etc. everytime I download documents and images I have to move them manually to my SD card. That's a pity, but I have to deal with it or use a third party app.
I'm using the Canadian carriers snapdragon 820 and can move some, not all app data to sd card.
Settings, storage, used, apps.
For the most part the larger apps will allow me to move data to sd card

Yeah, I might try that, I have a fast SD (Samsung pro +) and I see no need to remove my SD card.
Have googled it before...but hasn't ANYBODY had an issue with saving to their external sd card? Like, for instance, Boat Browser, Maxthon, Chrome...etc...ALL want to save to internal and will NOT let me change the directory to the SD card. It gets very frustrating moving the downloads after the fact. Any help or ideas??
You can set it in the opera mini browser, go into settings, downloads, download folder, press the sdcard icon and set the directory from there.
I don't think chrome and many other browsers have it. I assume this is a performance decision because internal memory is typically faster than sdcards unless you're getting a class beyond 10, which are expensive as hell.

You may also look into developer options and force external sdcard use at the bottom.

Only certain rare apps bring up the sd card folder for me to select to be written to. Annoying. Either they say it doesn't have correct permissions or isn't allowed. I have to use foldersync to save to the cloud, then back to the external sd.
I have had to click the 3 circle overflow button before and click on show external storage option before but that was only on certain screens
