I and my father have a new SGS2. When I connect to Wifi, no problems at all. On BOTH, the internet connection is very slow, with stops and always changing H... 3G... H....... If I connect to my old phone, the speed is fine, so it's not the local provider. My SGS2 has a lot of apps in it, and my father's one is stock ready and new, but the problem is the same for both. Also it spends a lot of battery.
Some people are complaining about this problem, is there a solution?
Try disabling fast dormancy.
how do you disable fast dormancy?
cheers
Change network setting to gsm only mode if it still come you might consider to chanhe the sim card, like i plan to.
I also using this gt p1000 with different sim card and it happened more faster browsing rather than this dual core gt i9100

Probably due to the radio sucking. There are others you can flash to...not sure which is best.
Are you by chance on AT&T in the US? Anyone know of the best radio for this phone on AT&T?
I also get very slow internet comnection in areas where high speed UMTS is not available. Actually, in these areas the phone is so slow that it always looses communication with the server. Practically, internet does not work AT ALL!
I'm really tired of being regularly pissed off by this phone and its many defects!
UPDATE:
Just tried disabling fast dormancy by using the hidden service menu *#9900#
It looks like at least now commection works. Speed is not optimal but that may be normal because at the moment I am in an area not covered by H+ connection.

YET ANOTHER UPDATE: Forget what I just said in the post above. It only worked for a few minutes, and then I'm back with no connection. It looks like this phone is rather deaf to 3G networks. But again, I may be wrong. The thruth is that I am desperately struggling to make this bloody phone work, but so far I have no clues at all.

There have been random reports of regional and carrier specific problems with 2/3G. Some have been fixed with s/w updates, some people had to get rid of the phone. If your phone and your father's phone perform differently using the same SIM card, than his phone has a hardware problem. If they both suck, then you can either keep playing with the settings, hope a future s/w release fixes the problem, or get different phones.
The SGS2 appears to be router sensitive. It doesn't like D-Link routers. It appears to like Netgear routers a lot. While you shouldn't have to, changing your router can make a big difference in Wi-Fi performance.
Also, both of the conditions above wreak havoc on battery life. I can get 15 hours connected to my Netgear router while people with D-Link's are lucky to see 8.
I do have a second phone (my good old nokia n95 8GB), and also a second contract with the same carrier. I've already tried swapping the sim cards, and the result is always the same: N95 working flawlessly and SGS2 struggling even to get a reply from the server.
Obviously it's a problem related to the SGS2 (mine is unbranded and unrooted, just made the update to the latest firmware 2 months ago), and not to the carrier, although in this period I am in my parents' house, where signal is slightly lower than what I get in my house, at the opposite side of the city. So some cross relationship with signal strength may actually also be possible.
I do have Dlink routers both in my hose and in my parent's house, but I get very good wifi connection, I really can't complain about that. Also because my routers are different from the model that is known to cause problems. Anyway wifi connection is not in discussion here. It's cellular network connection that's problematic.
This evening, after disabling and reenabling all possible settings, and setting network connection to CDMA only, I was able to get fairly good connections, however we shouldn't be supposed to trickle anything in order to simply get cellular network data connection.

Has anyone else been experiencing this. I am connected with BT home hub and it's awful. Connection drops literally every few seconds. It was fine with note 2. Any soloutions? I really like the phone but these small glitches are making me angry now. First it was stock browser which I have stopped using in favour of boat, then the biggest selling feature S pen it's sensivity was really bad I fixed it by adjusting the potentiometer and now the wifi signal. I really hope there is a fix for it.

I also use a BT home hub but have had no problems with Wifi at all. Connects quickly and doesn't miss a beat.

No problems for mi.
Had some problems with Fritzbox, especially on the first two days. The connection was not stable, although I had no problems with Note 1, and I have no problems with any other devices. But after the first days this problem with Note 3 was gone by itself. Maybe you should wait...

From Note 2 it might not be so good .. im not completely sure yet but I do keep getting the annoying warning message on my status bar.

i got mine this morning.. i have a bt modem as well and it keeps dropping all the time.. think im gonna give it a day then if it continues ill just take it and get it exchanged..
Works fine on a Netgear router...
Some routers have issues with newer phones. (and some with older ones, as well.). Have you tried updating your router Firmware? Reset your router?
Also, set the connection type to Static, not DHCP.
i was thinking it was the modem but my s4 works fine.. already called EE about a replacement..
mine works fine.. better then my old device!
my Netgear router is located on the first floor at the front of my house (in the office). in the master bedroom ensuite i got like 1 bar on my old device..
now i get full bars..
I live in a newer development area and i am on the boarder of LTE coverage.. on any other device i get 4G in my house.. now i get 2 bars of LTE..
pretty satisfied..
now speaking of software jitters and such.. that's a different story
Mine works great

the wifi issue is the only problem i have.. smh.. EE says they out of stock of the note 3.. so i gotta wait til they have to send replacement
WiFi access points don't get better with age. The hardware is upgraded constantly and even firmware updates can't change the hardware. An old WiFi access point of 2-3 years will not work as well as the newer ones do.
WLAN connectivity and speed is real bad on a fritzbox 6360 cable (fritzos v05.50). Sometimes full speed with ~4+ mb/s, a bit later resends and timeouts all the time. foldersync is a pain over wlan. today i needed 1h+ to download my apps from playstore after flashing omega rom. Cabel connection speed 100 mbit! 2.4 ghz or 5 ghz, static ip - no changes hope there will be a modem update for the note3 or a fritzos update that fix it.

After updating firmware today to xxUBMJ1 (Germany) the wireless problem is solved!
and the "automatic switching" can be activated again.
For me, everything works fine again. NO more message for unstable wireless connection!

what was the problem you had before the update?
Went into a coffee shop. Where there is free wifi if you buy something. It was me and a friend. My s4 had full signal. And my new note 3 struggling to get connection it kept saying checking quality which is really annoying. Anywhere my s4 gets connection the note 3 checks quality and drops. Im right next to the router at home and this note 3 wants to check quality of the connection. Never had a problem with the s4.

hey guys so i bought three 7 edge , for my bros and for me . anyways whenever we use them the wifi disconnects after a while like sometimes even when i use it for a minute the wifi symbol is there but nothing on the internet can be downloaded or seen or anything my router is fine .. my iphone works on the same network .. any ideas? thanks in advance
Strange! Did you get a chance to try them at another location means connected to another Wifi router? I saw your comment about yours working with your iphone but that does not mean it is not the root cause of your problem. Can you please also give us the model and brand of your router?
Thanks
Phil

Thx. So if fine at work place that points to your router. I don 't know the sitecom but is it 2.4 / 5GHz capable? Also which Wifi mode is selected on it? Legacy vs N vs N/AC mixed? If you have an Auto mode, you may want to select it.
Hope this helps

Hi,
My 3dr solo drone uses my edge+ for displaying flight info and google maps for the area i am flying in, well at least it should have, and it works brilliantly on all other brands like moto, nexus, nvidia tablet etc..
The problem seems to exist on a all samsung galaxy device, tested it on my Tab S as well, and have gotten the same answer from other users with other galaxy devices.
Even if the wifi is connected to a non internet device the phone should be able to connect to internet through the 4g at the same time, but that doesn't happen, cant be an android thing since it works on most other brands, even work on my Windows pc
If there isn't any fix for it, would it be possible to work around this in the done app running on the phone ? i know the developer so if that's the case it could be implemented in the app.

I have the same problem when connecting my S6 edge plus with my Nikon D5500.
But I don't think there is a solution for this.
Hello all,
I'm experiencing a strange phenomenon with my Samsung Galaxy J5 (model number SM-J500FN, running Android 6.0.1) and was hoping someone might be able to help!
It works fine most of the time, but stutters and crashes whenever it's connected to one certain free Wifi network. This "guest" network is provided by our local council and is accessible in libraries/leisure centres/schools etc. Other friends with Android phones can use this free network with absolutely no issues, but my J5 slows to a crawl soon after connecting, and is soon unusable. It doesn't even reboot easily, and when it does (eventually), and I reconnect to the network, the exact same thing happens again. The only error message I've seen pop up during the stuttering procedure is "Touchwiz home has stopped working".
I stress again that my phone experiences no issues whatsoever when connecting to *any other network* apart from this one, free Wifi.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Or, more importantly, how I can address this issue? (This free, guest network is prevalent all over the area I live in. Sometimes my phone connects to it in my pocket without my knowledge, and it takes 15 minutes to restart my phone and be able to use it again!)
Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks for reading, all the very best.
P.S. I am by no means a phone expert, so it would be hugely appreciated if you could walk me through any potential fixes, I'm not brilliant with jargon... Thanks!

You can do one thing. Download the latest firmware from Sammobile for your model and flash it using Odin. If there is any problem with your firmware then this will fix it. I also had some problems with my phone's firmware so i flashed the latest firmware from Sammobile and everything was fixed. Sometimes there are some problems with the firmware which come by default with the device at the time of purchasing.
