Autofocus seems to be great to record videos in HD. I made some quick tests and the results were very nice.

My autofocus barely works... Tried to bring some things close , it was still a blur ...

Monday night football. I don't know if it looks good at all. Maybe should have recorded in sports mode due to movement.

I don't understand how this is difficult... The Youtube button is available on many editors, not just XDA.
Youtube tag = the video ID.
e.g. for yours: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TM4_mbud0Cg
So click on the Youtube button and put in TM4_mbud0Cg.
It's not rocket surgery and it saves people from having to browse away from XDA.

Gonna go get the fancy car out & take a vid to test it.
Someone know something simple to edit the mp4 and crop it before I post it?
This is weird, I was thinking video autofocus worked like in the N900, but in the x10 is full automatic or am I wrong?
In the Nokia N900 you can press the camera button to focus while recording the video...
click click click...click...click click..click. click click click
yes I like autofocus

the is the first HD recording I took

Shot with two X10s at the same time. One with 2.1 other with 1.6.
Random shot of my Roomie eating dinner last night.
Can you tell the difference?

Thanks, and it was a good night too. Seemed a bit expensive for £100 but as everyone loved it it was well worth the money.
Here are some of mine, 2 are night videos, one on top is With Night Mode and bottom is without Night Mode
IMO i think without Night Mode seems to be a lot smoother but with Night Mode you see more but you can see noise as well
Night Mode with Flash on
Without Night Mode with flash on

Vid i just shot now.
I can't seem to take a picture while recording a video.
This is what my camera interface looks like while i'm recording a video.
View attachment 1096706
But if you check out this video you'll see that there's an additional icon, for taking a snapshot, which i don't seem to have here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQ1vnLVVDoU
I'm hoping it's just something to do with the camera settings but i could be wrong.
Any help would be appreciated.
BTW. i'm on rooted XE8

It is off
Try toggling to either 1080p or 720p mode and see if the option appears

Just tried this and still no snapshot icon
That's weird. Have you changed any settings?
Mine worked fine out the box, and I haven't fiddled with anything yet. When I start recording, a small camera button appears above the video recording button...
I just fiddled with settings a bit and Anti-shake was the problem.
It has to be off to be able to take a snapshot while recording a video.
Thanks for your time guys.
WHAT?!? thats awful! as I saw antishake during video is must have option...why they did such a stupid think...so the "take picture during video recording" is function only on 50%... you will have shaky video but also photos! and widescreen instead of normal...bravo Samsung another trumph!!! why are they so stupid as Im reading this forum a couple of weeks I thing that they made every function only to 50%...why I sell my SGS2.
What other functions are only working for 50 % ?

Works for me.. just tried it. Stock/non rooted

With antishake enabled, pictures cannot be taken while recording video. This simultaneous shooting picture while recording video is Pretty much useless.
Its now going to be the xda devs work to fix for Samsung
Mines rooted and it works fine for me.

Thanks for your input guys but if check back a couple of posts you'll see that the problem was Anti-Shake, if it's activated in the video recording settings then the option to take a picture while recording a video dissapears.
Unless you're saying that you have the option to take a picture while recording video with Anti-Shake turned ON ?

Little video i created for the GPE Android L where I go over the new features! I hope you enjoy this video!!!
Feedback is appreciated! Harsh feedback is more welcome as it only helps to improve more
Any feedback on how to improve my videos?
It will be good if you rehearse all that you wanna talk about. So when you record the video, the "ok google" and typin' keyboard will be fine.. Overall your video about Moto G is very informative and good quality.. Keep it up!
PS: i'm not a videomaker, just youtube watcher.

This, plus you can be more relaxed and your features showcase can be more precise and not that quirky. Good video and thanks for the showcase of 5.0.
Awaiting mine now, ASAP for download.
Nice video. I liked it.
I laughed at the "Another feature they've added is, Flashlight! Now you don't need to download those bull**** applications that send your information to the NSA!" "Ok Google... O_O Aaaand it's decided not to work!"
