Mail app like HTC Sense mail - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've seen some talk around this forum about porting Sense apps into the OP2. That would be great. But in the meantime, being a former HTC guy myself and a lover of the Sense UI, I used the HTC Mail app for my work email which is exchange and also for my personal email which a pop account from my ISP. The HTC Mail app allows for multi folder syncing when setting up the account. But it's not the kind of syncing that just lets you pick any folder you want from your Exchange account. It actually syncs the many different folders and displays all the messages in the main display as well as the POP account. So far I haven't been able to find a third party mail app that will sync with Exchange like this. I have been able to install the HTC mail app but it does not allow for the creation of the Exchange account with that app, only through GMail.
If anyone can make any since of this, I'd appreciate some input/help.
Thanks!

I recently discovered the mail app CloudMagic, it's perfect, at least for me. It allows you to:
- Get instant notifications (I.E. no sync intervals).
- Have separate mailbox for other accounts (I'm using iCloud and Gmail) as well as an "All inboxes" option.
- Manage the folders you wish to sync from each account.
I know it has support for all types of accounts (including Exchange).
Hopefully I'm on the right track.

You don't need a whole new Rom for a couple HTC Apps and the Sense Launcher. In fact you don't even need Root.
Install the HTC Apk's from here: http://www.fulmics.com/htc-sense/
But dont forget first of all you need to install these Apps: HtcServicePack , LocationPicker and HtcLocationServicesSetting

btw. that's my 5th Post since 2010

Thanks. I have flashed some of these. There is just a couple of nuances that don't get transferred. Like the exchange account from the mail app doesn't work and I have to use IMAP email instead.

Calendar for Nook ver 1.2

Has anyone got a calendar app working on Nook with version 1.2
I have tried and have problems with Jorte, CalendarPad, and Business Calendar.
Adding a new event with Jorte isn't working and the other two I can't sync to Google calendar.
I am also looking for a calendar app. I tried touch calendar which worked fine but would not fully sync with google. only some of my events showed up but not all of them.

I'm still on NST 1.1.2 so the following might not apply, but you might want to take a look at this old thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428040&highlight=synker
I followed the instruction in post #9 plus my little modification in post #15, and it's been working ever since.
Like I said this is for 1.1.2, so I don't know if it would brick your 1.2; make a complete system backup (not just the apps) before you try this!

Best one I've found is aCalendar - Android Calendar on the appstore for free. I did a long search on play store for the search term "eink" and "e-ink" and found all sorts of goodies that work.

Also, not completely related but if you want a persistent clock on your screen that will also remind you when your lunch break is over, try out simplistic countdown timer, works great on all the fw versions.

Exchange Contacts NOT syncing!

I set up the exchange server (as I did on many other Android devices before)and it is not syncing contacts at all! Emails and calendar did sync but not the contacts.

I was just curious if you found a fix for this? I just purchased a Nexus 4 & 10; both sync my email & calendar fine from exchange 2010 - but none of my contacts are being pulled in.
No I didn't find a permanent solution. What I did was download a third party software (think it was touchdown) trial and once my contacts were synced I moved them to phone contacts and un installed the software.

Gotcha, and thanks for the reply! I did something similar; in Outlook I exported all of my contacts to a CSV file, then on the gmail website I went to contacts and imported them and they came through to my phone fine - just fyi if anyone else reads this thread.
Kind of annoying to have to go round about that way; but hopefully it will get fixed in a future update and I can delete all of my work contacts from my personal gmail account.
FYI, I've called google tech support and they've elevated my case to a developer that is supposed to send me an email - I'll post hear if they actually tell me something usefull.
But we shouldn't have to do that though (I mean importing our contacts). We use Exchange in the workplace, and to be honest they wouldn't be happy if I copied the contacts to my personal account. This worked on other Android phones (One S, Nexus S etc) but for some reason just doesn't work on devices with Unified Storage (Nexus 4/7)
I thought the 4.2.2 update would solve this but unfortunately not. It's a shame because the Nexus was supposed to be a solid phone but all it's doing is losing my trust.
Please note that mine is now working after a security update o kosek the exchange server. We use exchange 2007. I can get you the technical details of it might help you.

I noticed that it didn't prompt me to allow device administrator until I exited and reopened email. And it won't let me do anything until that happens. Are you able to send a test email? If you can send email it should grab the contacts automatically. Also obviously check the settings in settings>>account settings>>corporate(or whatever yours is called) and maybe double check the server settings.

Also if your server is on your LAN it helps to be connected to the WiFi during set up.
You can always remove the account and re add it.

Is there a fix for this bug? I just got a Nexus 4 and I can't sync my contacts. My old phone doesn't take the micro sim, so I can't switch back.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Google Can't / Won't Help
From Google Support phone call:
Initially they told me to type my contacts in one at a time into the phone. Then they told me the following.
"We're unable to describe how to setup email on your android device, that's beyond our capabilities. You can go to this site to get information on setting up GMail via IMAP (not what I was asking for). If that isn't what you need there's nothing we can do for you and we'll have to have you return it." ... "Yes you'll be responsible for shipping"
I've been running Android on a variety of devices dating back to 2.2. I've never had any problems syncing my exchange contacts before. This is REALLY annoying.

Ryan,
I was able to fix this problem. I honestly don't remember exactly how it was done but I found the solution on XDA itself. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Calendar Question(s)/options

I notice that if the default (Google) calendar app (and calendar storage) are deactivated, that no other calendar app will sync with Google. I am trying to find a calendar app that will sync with Google on its own, is there such a thing?
I ask because I get a LOT of wakelocks (especially using Jorte), even with syncing off.

As far as I know, any Calendar app or widget that syncs with your Google calendar need the calendar service working so it can sync.
You don't need to disable them....just use whatever Calendar you want. I use pure grid Calendar widget ....its great.
I've never noticed the calendar service have any negative effect on battery or waking phone. If you do....then you have some issue. What makes you say it does??

I was getting a lot of wakelocks with Jorte. I uninstalled it and am trying DigiCal which seems to behave much better. I just wish Google Calendar had a couple of themes. It's not bad on its own.

[Q] Email tom-foolery...

So the (I guess) default 'email' is bugging me and I can't get rid of it's notifications. I use strictly gmail, and whenever I get an email, the other 'email' app goes off. It is the stock app, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to make it stop double notifying me with it's horribly ugly interface.
HALP PLS.

I looked again, can't find a setting FOR notifications in the settings. It's just about how emails are viewed.
Is there a separate bigger email setting I should be looking at?
Bump
Open stock email app.
Menu
Settings
Manage accounts
Select account
Uncheck email notifications.
If you have more than one account (which you dont) you need to do this for each email account.

Do you have Gmail account in the stock email handler.
If so remove it so the Gmail app or widget is the only one tied to the account.

Facebook notifications not working

Facebook push notifications aren't coming through on my phone only on my Facebook account, if I login on another account they work fine. I've tried to logout, login, reinstall facebook, clear data/cache, turned off platforms, turned off and on notifications, restarted my phone several times, cleared all online sessions. What do, halp plz
Only on your account?
are you running OOS? if so try disabling and enabling notification access in Privacy settings.(I guess)
I'm on SGS5 and I know this isn't the thread for my phone, but I'm at my wits end and want a solution. I'm sure it's not the phone, but the Facebook account itself.
The deactivate/reactivate didn't work for me on my main account that isn't getting push notifications. Funny thing is I wanted to see if it was just the app or the account, so I made a new Facebook account to test the push notifications on that. Push notifications for the app work with the test account, but not with my daily main account (same phone, same app on phone). I have tried everything under the sun. I've tried the BB thing, turned platform thing off, uninstall/reinstall, cleared cache and data, removed every attached app, literally everything I can think of and/or find online. I think something is not allowing my main account to receive push notifications, like they're being sent to an old phone (which there is no other devices logged in) or some chrome extension or app/program I attached to my Facebook has ****ed it all up. I haven't had push notifications in probably probably 3 years, on my SGS2 and nothing on my SGS5 I got 2 years ago... Sorry for ranting, but I just wish it would work. Do you think my main Facebook account is attached to a very Old Android Device ID?

It's not the app, it's the account. I know this because I created a new account and tested the push notifications on that account. The push notifications work on the test account, but not my main account. Same app, phone and settings throughout Facebook. One thing I did notice was on the test account, the Facebook ID (example: [email protected]) is greyed out under primary account with my email selected as primary. Where as on my main account, it's just my email under primary.

I have the exact same problem as you, I've also tried everything and nothing has worked, and I did the same experiment with another account and the push notifications worked with that other account, but nothing with mine.
I'm honestly very frustrated 'cause I can't find the reason for all this and no one seems to know what's causing it. I'm thinking that it may have something to do with some extension I installed in the past or something like that, but I really have no idea, I'm going nuts over this, specially when other people say they were able to solve it by doing this or that, but I've also done this and that and nothing works.

Reinstalling or uninstalling the Extension fixed the push notifications for your acct? I uninstalled the extension a LONG time ago, and cleared all connected apps and what not. I remember the old version had you actually connect it to your Facebook by signing in, but I could never "sign-out" and I did uninstall and the notifications never came back.
