4G can be retrofitted:
Basic layout is pretty similar to the Cube i7:

Can you explain more detailed the 4G mod, please? I can't see well at two photos and I don't understand it. Thanks!
Enviado desde mi Aquaris E5 mediante Tapatalk
@mnemix
It haven't been tested on the Cube i9 yet, but on the Cube i7 and Teclast X2 you could add an M2 LTE module on the spare connector to get a working 4G connection.
Edit:
For example: Huawei M2 Modem
@Wootever ok, I've seen the TechTablet interns video and he has explained the upgrade, but the SIM slot it is soldered to main board, is it compatible with this Huawei Modem? If it's compatible, this tablet has all I want and all I haven't with Cube i7 Stylus, bigger size, kickstand, usb normal, bigger ssd (I don't use the stylus often).
Enviado desde mi Aquaris E5 mediante Tapatalk
@mnemix
This is how it worked with the Cube i7, i guess the Cube i9 should be no different.
---
Unbrick Bios:
SPI Programmer CH341A
SOIC8 IC Test Clip
Download CH341A Software
The Bios chip is a W25Q64FV which operates at 3.3V:
Take care of the correct pin assignment:
Hi Wootever, just to point out that this can't be flashed with a test clip. The clips can't make contact with the bios pins using any clips I've tried. It will need to have the wires soldered to the pins itself or removed and flashed. Beyond my own solder skills. So my i9 is dead for now.
When does your i9 arrive? I'm interested to see if you'll do another heatsink mode for yours? Just be own cheap and quick heat sink mod saw max temps drop over 20 degrees.
@Hendrickson
Yes, unfortunately it seems that the Bios package isn't a generic SOIC.
Do you have some small IC clip like here? This might work if the clip can connect to the bios pins.
Hopefully at the end of the week or early next week.
Edit:
My SOIC clip was also rather imprecise, so i disassembled it and resoldered the wires to match the bios pins:
And put a nail into the shell:
Now you can use a sponge (for example) and a small weight to fix the clip:
Not the most impressive solution, but it's working quite well.
It's too small for even that, the tool and I did try to cut my test clip to help it connect, but no luck.
Hi, if i want to add a 4g module i need the antennas?
Inviato dal mio Nexus 6 utilizzando Tapatalk
@Wootever I'm back in action! Thanks to your sponge method, I had cut my clips but couldn't think of a way to hold it in place as good as a sponge and nail, brilliant idea. It wasn't easy. Took me a good 2 hours of attempts. First flash failed with the latest bios. It would not boot only flash a red light. The first bios you list was the one that my unit shipped with I think and that one worked.
Now the good part, my quick and easy basic thermal mod works well. Max temps under 70 degrees now and a small boost in performance. It will now benchmark similar to a Surface Pro 4 M3. And now if we increase the power limits (Since my thermals have improved) using XTU it can perform slightly better even. I'll be working on a write up of all this experience.
@fratus1 Yes we need to add antennas as there are none.
@Wootever sent you a donation as a small thank you. Your tip saved my Cube i9 from bricked hell.
@Hendrickson
Thanks, good to see that you got your device working again.
I'm eagerly awaiting your final review since the device looks very promising, actually like a economically priced Surface Core-M with the possibility of maintenances.
Despite everything this brick also have it's advantages:
- The device can be re-flashed even though it's effortful.
- The BIOS has some placeholder settings that aren't properly implemented (fortunately this menus can be hidden for a possibly Bios mod).
You both are amazing people. All of your contributions are high value content. Thanks and don't stop helping us.
PS: Mine, bought at 6th AliExpress Anniversary, is on his way, with keyboard. Hoping it to arrive. First I7 Stylus, now I9.

Hhhh mmmm, I liked what the top and bottom edges discounted, it was very similar to the Xperia that I have now, the ZL
Speaking of specs, I doubt very much, MUCH SONY will enter a Snapdragon 805 to maintain the same camera specifications or display, it seems to me ridiculous that supposedly SONY have thought at some point go from 801 to 805 SnapDragon just for that incorporate the phone function up to 10 fingers on the screen, it's just ridiculous, not worth at all.

Well, I did not know, I thought it was something new, however we did not get out of the main idea of my comment, what is ridiculous SONY decide to spend the Snapdragon 801 Z2 to 805 for the Z3 to to ultimately maintain virtually the same features, if you did not know, and according to the website of Qualcomm, the difference between the 800 and the 801 is "little" significant, but enough to incorporate the capability of recording video in 4K, merely following this logic, next Z3 should have something very new or more powerful (like the camera, such des go from 20.7 to 25 MP) for justifying the memory, and it is shown that as Qualcomm, the difference between the 801 and 805 it is really significant for the 800 to 801.

To me a good concept is one that follow all the leaks and look authentic that try to predict how the next device will look like, in other words: increase the thickness to 9mm, make the top and bottom bezels even in size, move the camera to a bit above the center of the back (it is pretty much impossible to place a huge camera sensor like z2's on top with ultra thin top bezel), replace the xenon flash with dual LED, update the sides with the leaked right and left metal frame, remove the docking port cause according to the frames sony is going for waterproofed usb port and wireless charging so also make the usb port exposed, just look at the leaked frames. the base is a good start but try to make it look authentic and not like cut and paste and not wishful thinking spec.
if you do what i wrote your concept will look a lot better.

i think it will drop the omni-balance design for new flagship beacuse Sony announced they will go for new design for 2014 H2 flagship
also no FHD it will be QHD this time as rivals have already thrown QHD screens in market.

I think only camera part is where i added too much unrealistic specs
About image i am very poor at editing stuff.

Edit: Made some changes in camera specs as well as attached a more refined pic with led flash and waterproofed usb port btw the sides are pvc coated in black the leaked frame seems white version

I want that awesome wallpaper!
any release information on U.S ?
There are actually two main Zenfone 2 models, ZE551ML and ZE550ML, and many different variations within the same model.
Here are the spec sheets:
The US$199 price point is rumored to be the 720P ZE550ML with 2G/16G. 1G/8G models will only be available in limited select countries.
ZE551ML is definitely the preferred model, given the spec boosts. It includes brushed metal back cover(as oppose to matted),1080P, higher RAM range(2G or 4G), higher CPU range(z3560, z3580), quick charging and NFC.
Just waiting for reviews on basic things like call quality , mic quality , audio output , speaker performance , camera , video , GPS performance ...
I dont mint the 1.8GHz/2GB version ... 1.8GHz with that battery should be good ... I think its gonna be almost the same price as it was 1st launched i.e. 10k or so ... But let's C ...
Kudos to ASUS
Will this be available for Verizon, or just 'unlocked' for other networks like AT&T?
couldn't care less about that exaggerated 4GB RAM but the rest is something to look forward to
$200 for the 2gb version... maybe the 4 Gb version will cost less than 16K
Note that the prices are before any taxes ..And I have no idea how much it will cost after taxes here in India...

Is there not a set tax in India like there is in the US?
On another note, looks like bands 2 and 4 are Verizon networks, and this phone says it is supported there - but not sure if that means it will work with Verizon or not. Want to get rid of my S4, just wondering if I should jump on an LG G3 or wait for this.
But it is not on LTE 13, which is also Verizon and I guess their main? Fail. Oh well.
ASUS Poland confirmed that ZE551ML 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM will cost $199.

There are a lot of 200 dollars phones on the market. And the competition is intense in this price range. Elephone are trying to make an impressively designed phone, and now they achieved a new level of premium design. Now you have a smartphone that's well worthy waiting for. The display aspect ratio is obviously high, almost frameless on the sides. The metal-rimmed Elephone P7000 Pioneer looks sharp and catchy. The speaker is located at the bottom of the phone, which has better sound experience than rear speaker. There is an iphone like touch fingerprint ID on the back below the camera. No more scans, but one touch. The touch ID will recognize your fingerprint from any aspect as it's a 360 degree identifier.
The Elephone Pioneer packs the MTK6752, Octa core 64-bit SoC, due to the high potential of the chipset, it uses 3GB of RAM. And Mali-T760 GPU comes with the SoC, which is still the most powerful GPU. The rear camera is 16MP with sony sensor, and the front camera is 8MP. Furthermore, it has impressive 5.5-inch 1080p FHD display, that's undoubtedly clear and sharp. The battery is not left out for such a big display, it has 3450mAh.
Even more, Elephone will make Android 5.0 and CM available later after the release. And more UIs will be made by their developers and fans. The phone has a 3450 mAh battery, for that the thickness isn't that bad. The Xiaomi Mi4 is 8.9mm, and a HTC One M8 is 9.4mm. Sounds like you compare it with a bendable iPhone 6 Plus. THAT phone is uncomfortable in the pocket! And I don't care about a thickness a little over 9mm as long the batterylife is good. Rather that, then a thin 6mm phone that only last half a day and goes dead.

Does it have a led notification light? I cant find that anywhere. With the removable battery, fm radio, nfc and expendable memory finally a phone which has it all.

Ok, youve got some solid points there, but for me the main positive point is that elephone is well known for the constant updates, and not forgetting that there are new versions of Android constantly. At least that is what I have heard and I believe, because most chinese smartphones these days come with impressive hardware specs but forget about software. That is the main pro I see here, forgetting the fact that it is a thick phone, I think it is a good option .

There's a promo video of the p7000 on youtube.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xd30pWYfnR0
Assuming that the video is accurate, it should have a Sony sensor. Hope this is useful!
I actually find this one sounds pretty much perfect for me. Anyone see it out for presale with a shipping date?
The Elephone site under new products it says end of April
(sorry can't link it don't have enough posts)
I'm trying to decide whether I just live with the smaller screen of the P3000S or wait a few weeks for this.

Dev comunity?
Where will the back button and recent apps button be? Will it have a dev comunity and support? Other than this, this phone seems perfect
Im concerned that elephone lied about the camera sensor and of course wondering how much they are exaggerating the battery. If its all as it appears in the spec sheet I think this would be great

What about ship to Italy from gizchina.com? How long does it take? Are there custom taxes?

I just placed an order through the Manufacturer's own retail shop. I'd recommend you do the same.
And yes they have a strong Dev community and lots of future updates on all their phones, not just the
newly released !!
I will report back once I receive the phone.
Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi (one of main players currently) has just presented an update for his Redmi Note model, with a few novelties and the goal of being one of most popular smartphones for the season.
Packaging and design
The box is “iPhone-like” in paperboard color, something I've liked since it looks a little bit more Eco-friendly, and at the same time it's simple and elegant.
In the box we find the terminal properly wrapped, a charger (with US plug, not the European one), a good quality USB cable, the warranty and instructions both in Chinese.
As usual lately, no signs of the earphones, we'll have to get used :-/

The design of this Redmi Note 2 is very simple and clean, on the front we have the secondary camera on the top, then the 5,5” FullHD screen with just the 3 touch buttons typical from Android.
On the right side we have the volume and lock buttons, both seem made in good quality
Looking at the bottom, the micro-USB plug and the microphone. We have the jack 3.5 plug for the (non included) earphones and the secondary microphone for noise cancellation on the top.
So we have a completely free left side, something very common nowadays, due to the big size of the devices, the buttons are grouped in just one of the sides.
Once we flip it, the main 13Mpx camera (we have no information about who is manufacturing it), the LED (not dual) flash and the speaker on the bottom with the XIAOMI logo.
When we remove the back cover, we found the removable battery, the slots for the 2 micro-SIM and another one for the microSD expansion card.
This model is available in 5 colors: white, blue, yellow, pink and mint green.
Hardware
The technical specifications are quite good. Just to start, it's equipped with the new X10 octa core from Mediatek, so 64-bits and 2.0Ghz speed. The 2GB of RAM memory put it on the middle of the table, since most of new phones already come with 3GB or 4GB if we talk about flagship devices.
To complete the game, we find a GPU Power VR G6200 that will put all the sauce for videos and games to play smoothly.

Software and Multimedia
The Redmi Note 2 comes with the almost last version of Android 5.0 (Lollipop), however we won't appreciate it since the customization layer is very “intrusive”. We are talking about the very well known MIUI, which brings a iOS flavor that either you love or you hate normally.
MIUI is probably one of most known Android ROMs and doubtless one of the strengths that helped Xiaomi growth as much and sell their handhelds outside of China.
In this case, the Redmi Note has the v7 of MIUI and as expected it runs very well, fluid and smooth even when playing 2K videos. However, in my opinion is a little bit silly to play 2K videos in a 5,5” screen, even a very good one like this case. It will be very interesting if we are using a remote screen, and we are broadcasting to a big screen, but (and again is just my opinion) with a smartphone, I guess FullHD is already a great resolution.
On the same way, games (like Asphalt 8) run perfectly thanks to both the powerful chip X10 and the GPU Power VR G6200.
Camera
Nowadays it's very common to find 13 Mpx cameras on almost every smartphone. If we compare this one to other Chinese phones, we can say the results are very good.
It's not the main point in this phone, although as said before it achieves quite good results, specially with daylight (very good pictures!). But when the light is reduced, for example taking night pictures there is a lot of noise on the images.
When we move to video recording, FullHD at 30fps offer very good quality.
Battery
The trend is now to go around 3000mAh, and Xiaomi hits that mark in this case.
Of course the duration will depend on how much we use the smartphone and for what. Taking into consideration that on the first days we will be trying everything and the use will be much more exhaustive that the normal one.
However we will reach the end of the day without any difficulty, using data, camera,...
Conclusions
We have on our hands a very good terminal. We can notice it on the finishing and the overall user experience, thanks also to the good integration and performance of MIUI 7.
I don't like to open the box and don't find the earphones, but it becomes the rule now, so I will finally have to get used to that. I know manufacturers try to cut cost wherever they can, and they guess we all have good earphones already... but if you're presenting a device with an impressive screen and powerful enough to play and enjoy the multimedia part, why don't you complete it with a good earphones?
I'm sure this is a problem that we don't have when buying an iPhone or last Galaxy S or LG or any other first brand smartphone, since they have margin enough to pay quality extras.
This model (Redmi Note 2) is on the medium range so we have to consider it like that. If we are looking for a top class (Chinese) device we will have to choose the Xiaomi Mi5 (when available) or Xiaomi Note Pro and there the price will be already above 500€.
Are you looking a good smartphone for less than 200€? don't think more, you have to look and consider this one. It's not only because of the specifications on the paper, it's also (or mainly) because step by step the Chinese manufacturers are differentiating among them.
Xiaomi and Meizu have proved (or are proving yet) to be above the other Chinese companies... so if you have similar prices, ask for quality!

The glass is so called "Dragontail" which is actually very scratch resistance.
My problem so far with RN2 is the network location service, they return simplified chinese text to apps, also the international ROM is very buggy.
I got one question: Is a screenprotector already applied from the manufacture?
Btw I noticed you saying there are the 5 colours you mentioned but actualy there is also the colour gray (dark) (the one picture in your review has also a gray backcover)
Yes, screen protector is already applied but it covers front camera... So you have to change it
My device did not have a screen protector pre-applied.
Very strage

The good
12.2-inch display with an aspect ratio of 16:10 greatly enhances experiences
Redesigned keyboard cover makes the i9 even more portable than its smaller predecessors
Cube i9 is reasonably priced, much more affordable than the Microsoft Surface Pro4
The bad
Battery life is only slightly better than the Cube i7, but still mediocre among high-end Windows tablets
Compared to last year’s i7, the i9 doesn’t offer a lot of improvement in overall performance
Cube i9 doesn’t support Wacom pen like the i7 Stylus does
Rear side of the tablet offers little resistance to scratches
The bottom line
The Cube i9 squares up to the Surface Pro with great versatility, and a stunning screen, and it’s just as good value when bought with its best peripherals. The Surface Pro 4 might look more premium and offer more options, but the i9 has enough power to get the job done – if you need a tablet for work, you won’t be disappointed with this.
Tablets for work are almost as popular as tablets for play, so it’s no surprise to see Cube at the forefront of this growing market. Last year, Cube enjoyed an enormous amount of success with the Cube i7 Series tablets, all of which were powered by the Intel Core M 5Y10c processors and could even rival the Surface Pro 3 in terms of performance and productivity. With prices even lower than the basic model of the Cherry Trail powered Surface 3 (2GB, 64GB), the Cube i7, Cube i7 Stylus and Cube i7 CM became very popular among younger consumers in China.
Striving to keep its dominance over fellow Chinese brands such as Teclast and Onda, Cube released a new flagship corporate machine – the Cube i9, and even held a grand launch event in Beijing earlier this year to promote it. The Cube i9 comes with a Skylake Core M 5-6Y30 dual core processor, 4GB of RAM, 128GB SSD, dual-band 802.11n wireless and a stunning 12.2-inch IPS display at the resolution of 1920*1200. With specs which could even rival the Surface Pro 4, the Cube i9 is only priced at RMB2,999 ($463) in the domestic market, prices in other part of the world may vary as a result of taxation and exchange rate.
Cube i9 main specs:
• OS: Windows 10 Home Edition (64-bit)
• Screen: 12.2-inch IPS, 10-point multi-touch, IGZO
• Display Resolution: 1920 x 1200 (16:10)
• CPU: Intel Skylake Core M3-6Y30
• CPU Frequency: 0.9GHz (Base clock) – 2.2GHZ (Turbo clock)
• GPU: Intel HD 515
• RAM / Storage: 4GB DDR3L / 128GB SSD
• Connection: Dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0
• Camera: 5MP back camera, 2MP front camera
• Battery: 8.7V – 5,000mAh
• Ports: Micro SD Card Slot, USB 3.0 Port, USB Type C Port, 3.5mm Headset Jack, DC Charging Port
• Size: 302.9*194.9*10.5mm, Weight: 978g
Design
The i9 is very different in appearance and design to last year’s Cube i7 series tablets. As a matter of fact, it looks more like a clone of the market-leading Surface Pro 4. It even has similar overall shape and footprint, from its adjustable kickstand to its 12.2-inch screen panel. Only the finish in the back truly tells you that it is not a Surface.
The front of the tablet is dominated by a 12.2-inch IPS display. The bezel around it is much smaller compared to last year’s Cube i7. Like the Surface Pro 3 and Pro 4, the touch-sensitive Windows key are now sitting on the right edge of the display, making it easier to reach while you are holding your tablet in horizontal mode.
All the ports are hosted on the left side of the tablet. You can find a 3.5mm audio jack, a USB Type-C port, which could support HDMI output as well as USB on the go, a full USB 3.0 port, a Micro SD card slot which supports cards up to 128GB, and a 3.5mm DC charging port. The inclusion of a USB Type C port is interesting, and Cube claims that it costs much more than ordinary USB or Micro USB ports. As for me, I would still prefer another full USB 3.0 port and a separate Micro HDMI port than this as I don’t really want to travel with too many adapters.
There is also a 5-contact magnetic keyboard port on the bottom side of the slate.
As always, the power/standby key and the volume rocker are hosted on the top side. Both buttons feel very solid and durable.
The blue coating on the rear is the same used on the Cube i7 series tablets, which we hate as it doesn’t offer much resistance to scratches. Also, compared to the likes of iPad Pro and Surface 3, the rear side of the i9 doesn’t really give the tablet a premium feel.
The biggest difference of the i9, compared to the i7 series tablets, is the inclusion of a kickstand. I personally believe that this is a huge improvement as the tablet can now stand on your table even without the keyboard base. The kickstand can open to two different angles, the first setting (40 degrees) is ideal for typing and productivity work when the tablet is on a table, the second (80 degrees) is better for watching videos while the tablet is sitting on your lap.
Measures at 302.9*194.9*10.5mm and weighs 980g, the Cube i9 is neither a thin nor a light tablet. It is porkier than the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 (292.10 x 201.42 x 8.45mm, 766g/786g), but still more compact compared to most of the ultrabooks. As always with Cube’s high-end tablet, the build quality of the i9 is excellent. No matter how much you twist or squeeze the tablet’s chassis, there’s barely any flex to be found.
Keyboard
Another noticeable change is the redesigned keyboard cover. Unlike the heavy and solid keyboard bases for the i7 series tablets, the keyboard tailor-made for the i9 is more like the Surface Type Cover.
Once attached magnetically to the i9, the keyboard cover instantly turns the tablet into an ultrabook.
The keyboard itself is very well designed, with ideal space between different keys, it also offers decent key travel, which gives you tactile feedback when you type. And we really love the ability to set it flat against the desk or at a more keyboard-like angle. We’d always rather use a full-sized laptop keyboard, but in the absence of that the i9 Keyboard Cover is the very next best thing.
The trackpad is reasonably sized, and it has distinct left and right click zones, and supports gesture control as you would expect. Unfortunately, different from the Surface Type Cover, when you fold the keyboard cover around the back of the i9 and the keys are still active.
Display
The Cube i9 is built around a 12.2-inch full-HD IPS display. It is noticeably sharper than ordinary laptops, most of which only have a display resolution of 1366*768. A native resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels makes for a decent pixel density of 186ppi.
The extra size makes the Cube i9 a feasible laptop. It’s a big difference from a 10in tablet with a keyboard attached. And that isn’t the only upgrade. Whereas the aspect ratio was previously 16:9, the i9 is a 16:10 device. It is more suitable for business tasks, but still quite good for media consumption.
Everything looks good on the i9’s IPS display. Photos are bright and clear, full of color and detail. Texts on the webpages are extremely crisp and unlike the PLS and AMOLED displays, colors here are very true to life. Also, the multi-touch screen is fairly responsive, too.
Windows 10
The Cube i9 runs Windows 10 Home Edition (64-bit) out of the box. Like the convertible tablet, the Windows 10 itself is also something of a hybrid, with both desktop and the Windows Store apps, touch and keyboard, the control panel and the finger-friendly PC Settings app.
On the Cube i9, as long as you’re comfortable with gestures such as swiping to open the charms bar, switching apps and closing an app you don’t want, the two fit together almost seamlessly.
Also, features such as Microsoft Edge, Cortana, Virtual Desktop and the customized placement of the start menu on the Windows 10 make the Cube i9 very convenient to use both in tablet mode and laptop mode.
Like most tablets and ultrabooks, the i9 doesn’t come with preinstalled Microsoft Office, you have to either spend money on subscribing it or you will have to use other free alternatives such as WPS Office and the Microsoft Office Mobile, which you could install from the Windows Store.
Performance
The Cube i9’s specifications are truly impressive. It comes with a sixth-generation Intel Skylake Core M3-6Y30 processor, paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD. Sensors include ambient light sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer. There’s also a digital compass.
In use the i9 is zippy and fast. Big applications such as Photoshop and Corel Draw run without issue, switching between image-heavy webpages is extremely smooth. Even under load and attempting multiple processes it feels exactly as fast and capable as should a PC with this powerful specification. And the benchmarks bear this out.
In the PCMark 8 benchmark the i9 managed a healthy score of 2,650, and in the Fritz Chess Benchmark test, the i9 was returned a score of 4,018. Other benchmark scores can be found in the chart above. It is obvious that, although the i9 doesn’t match most of those powerhouse laptops or desktop PCs in terms of performance, it is way above what the Atom-based tablets or netbooks when it comes to processing power. With that said, we didn’t see much improvement over last year’s i7 in most of the benchmarks. In Ludashi, Cinebench R10 CPU test and AS SSD benchmark test, the i9 even scored lower marks than the i7.
When it comes to more intense tasks such as gaming, the i9 can run all the games in the Windows Store smoothly and most of the desktop games in acceptable frame rates, but we would still not recommend anyone to buy this tablet for gaming, it is just not what this slate is designed for. Laptops with discrete graphics are still much better suited for running intense games.
Connectivity
Connectivity options abound. There is a full-size USB 3.0 port, as well as a microSD card slot that allows you to expand the i9’s storage by 128GB. A USB Type C Port which can be transformed into different ports with different adapters. For instance, you can turn it into a full USB port to host other devices, or you can turn it into a HDMI port to use a larger display. With this function, the i9 could be a laptop, tablet and desktop PC.
If you wanted to use Bluetooth peripherals you could, as the Cube i9 comes with Bluetooth 4.0. You also get dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi to surface the internet.
Battery Life
Battery life in normal use has been on par with the Cube i7, lasting me about 5 hours or so between charges. The i9 went for 7 hours and 25 minutes in our battery rundown test, where we played a 720P video with 50% display brightness and 50% volume through the speakers.
It normally takes around 5 hours to fully charge the Cube i9 with the stock 12V-2.5A charger, which is quite disappointing given that we don’t always get several hours to charge our i9. During the lunch time of a full day meeting, I charged the i9 for approximately one hour, the battery only grew around 20 percent.
Cameras
The i9 comes with two cameras – a front-facing 2MP camera and a 5MP rear camera, hardly high-end, but about what you’d expect from a laptop rather than a smartphone or tablet. The front camera is perfectly feasible to use for conference calling and Skype. But it is not going to replace a DSLR or even a low-end smartphone when it comes to capturing photos.
Summary
Like the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, the Cube i9 is a perfectly serviceable laptop, and a pretty Okay tablet. It is sufficiently thin-and-light to work as a tablet, but the large screen size – critical for laptop use – means I’d always reach for a smaller tablet for consumption purposes such as reading an e-book or watching a video. And leaving aside occasions when I am required to work without a desk, I’d always choose a full-size laptop for work purposes where possible. It’s just that little bit better.
With that said, whenever I have to go on a business trip, or vacation during which I still have to work every now and then, I would prefer bringing the Cube i9. It is almost as portable as an iPad, but offers much more productivity for business tasks. For those who need a single device to do everything but find the prices of the Surface Pro series unacceptably high, the Cube i9 could be a very well-rounded alternative.
Loved the review.
You did mention, though, that the Wifi module is Dual Band....is this actually true? In every other review I've read so far, they say it single band.

Yes, it is single-band, I made a mistake, but the new i7 Book has dual band Wi-Fi.
The Cube i7 Book has nothing to do with this review, though...so I don't understand the "but"...we weren't talking about the cube i7 Stylus even.
Dimensionally, how close is this to a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 or 4? Is it pretty much exact clone shape wise? I'm just wondering if getting a Surface Pro 3/4 protective skin would be close enough where it would work on the i9 and protect the back of it.
My Cube i9 broke after Display problems
My CUBE i9 (bought in March 2017) becam an issue after a few months.
After startup the screen remains black (no backlight, no picture), but Win10 started.
Only after switching ON/OFF about 20 times, the screen will once switch on and computer works normally after that. I kept it on for several weeks without any problem.
Unfortunately, after closing the lid and a restart, due to often ON/OFF switching Win10 "broke" and now only (when the screens turns on) a kind of DOS screen (called SHELL) appears.
I am quite desperate and have no idea how to get it repaired.
Writing Cube Service Center doesn't lead to any reply...
Do you have an idea where I can get it repaired (I live in Germany):crying:?
