I prefer franco or elementalX with Pure Nexus. They both work out to be a great combo with the ROM.

No, you don't need to use Elemental with Pure Nexus, Kylo is fine. There is no right or wrong combination, it comes down to personal preference. You need to use BetterBatteryStats to find out what's causing your battery drain.

You do not need to change the kernel. Kylo is good too, i was just referring to my own preference.Try switching governor profiles.
Also, make use of BetterBatteryStats app. It is paid, but surely worth buying. Will help you get a much detailed look on what's happening to the battery.

He provides a free version to the XDA community here:

So instead of stealing it you can have it legitimately. I'm going to leave this conversation now though, piracy is a huge no-no here on XDA, and on a personal level I find it quite disgraceful to steal from developers, especially small ones like Sven. Not having access to a credit card isn't an excuse to steal from someone. I wish you luck in fixing your problem.

4hrs SOT is not bad, all depends of how and where you're using your phone. When I'm at work (UK's village) I'm getting even less than 4hrs (bad or no signal), but at home, with dimmed display and good signal I manage to get more than 6hrs. As soon as your phone goes to sleep, there's nothing to be worry about.

I think it might be one of two things, either an app with a rogue code that's causing your phone to stay awake and eating cpu cycles or something misconfigured in the kernel. You can either start deleting some apps that you may think are the cause of the problem or try flashing the stock kernel to see if that solves the issue. I'm running PureNexus with stock kernel and my phone loses less than 1% battery/h if I don't touch the phone at all.

So I have had my Nexus 4 for 7 exact days, was suffering from a terrible battery life of 1:30 hrs MAX screen-on. Until I flashed CM10.1+Franco's latest kernel and my phone has a 3:30 hrs of screen time on ! - I tried AOKP with Faux and some other rom combinations...Any one can explain why?
And clearly the battery life on WIFI surpasses the one on 3g.
It probably has a lot to do with the "msm_hsic_host" kernel wakelock that is present on the stock kernel. Flashing to either franco or faux kernel is supposed to be a great way to fix it and increase battery life
Because Franco Kernel is like magic?
Edit: oh hey! you're the same guy from yesterday I suggested Franco Kernel to and pm'd me for additional tips

Not sure if it has the ability to disable logging and events (i think it does). You can disable those two features for better battery life (very insignificant but every bit helps, right?) and you can disable fsync if you choose to (more IO speed, less stability mainly if your phone was to randomly reboot).
Plus the free color changing is always nice to have.
3 to 4 hours with screen on is normal battery life for a stock Nexus 4.
It sounds like you were running something that was draining the battery.
When you updated the phone, the new ROM turned off the culprit.
The battery drain is not necessarily caused by an app, it could be one
of the Google services or bad reception. Even changing the phone's default
settings can result in much better battery life.
This might be a stupid question, but could switching from stock kernel/ROM fix my antenna radio reception bull**** issues?

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere, but I have been struggling to trawl through all 1000 pages on the relevant thread as I can't get the search terms to get the info!
Basically, when I leave the phone overnight charging, in the morning I cannot turn it on unless I press and hold the power button and volume down to reset the device.
Other than this it is great in terms of being able to adjust the colours and the battery life seems better.
I have tried both the nightly and stable versions..

Sounds like your phone is having trouble to wake after a deep sleep. I'm guessing it's caused by a (probably: too) low cpu frequency.
Did you use any app to change the cpu frequencies while asleep, or did you undervolt your cpu?
Also, which version of the kernel are you using? I suggest you stick to M1 for more stable results.
And after all, it might be a bug in the kernel. The people in franco's thread are more than willing to help you if you supply as much information as you possibly can. Kernel version, your adjustments to it if any, etc. I haven't seen this problem happen to anyone before in the last days (oh yea, I read every page of that thread...), so don't be afraid to ask for some help. But for now, I suggest you update to M1. If you're already on M1, feel free to ask your question in the thread.

I am currently using milestone 1.
As far as I am aware I only made changes to the colour as I am still learning the controls as I go. I have restarted the phone to see if it helps.
The only app that I am using that could be to blame is battery guru, so if it persists, I could try disabling that.

You're using the exact same set-up I am, and I'm haven't had any of the trouble you talk of. Disabling battery guru might be a good idea. As it's an app from Qualcomm itself, I wouldn't be surprised if it's set to mess around with the stock kernel's settings. If that's the case, then your kernel is obviously not the kernel that Battery Guru was programmed to mess with! Uninstalling it to see what happens next would be a good step :highfive:. From my experience, you wouldn't need any battery management apps when you're on franco's M1 anyway - using common sense to save your battery should suffice.

Well, it turned on OK this morning, so hopefully fixed...
I guess I will only know in a few days time when I have got more confidence...
I had another SOD so I have reset all settings (installed nightly version 110) and started again -
The only changes I have made are to the gamma settings and changing the governer to conservative to see if that gives me a longer battery life.
Will see how it goes....
I had some more SODs with 110/111 so I changed to 121 and the battery life did not seem as good.
Takes a while to work out what is going on when it only happens once a day...
I still get occasional SODs with battery guru disabled so i guess it is either the kernel or possibly the ROM... I will try on the support thread....
I am on Stock 4.4.2 for the D800 and Android System seems to be abnormally high. On the battery usage page Cell stand by is at 34% Android System 30%, screen 20%, and Phone Idle at 6%. Is this normal? Im sure i never had Android system that high before
That's normal. Disable double tap to wake and you'll see a huge difference. Anyway battery is nevertheless great and disabling that feature isn't worth it as the power button us difficult to reach on the back of the phone.

Yeah, but since there are issues with All Access and 4.4.2 on all platforms i think thats the issue. Im still not sure what the Android System usage is going towards, but i think it may be Facebook issue. I'm not 100% sure though still testing. I dont even have have that many apps installed.
No matter what I do I get this drain. Android os is keeping awake for 4 hrs in 12 hrs of sitting in my car. Apparently instead of dozing it says don't go to sleep instead drain the battery. I'm using amplify and app ops xposed to stop wakelocks even. Running pure nexus. Doesn't matter if its fresh install or not. Any ideas?

Well you clearly have something waking your system. Though too much wakeblocking is just as bad. Perhaps try something else, like greenify. Most likely some rogue app.

Better battery stats didnt really tell much It seems to only happen if WiFi is on and not connected so I'll try turning it off and see. I pretty much removed everything from amplify last night and turned off WiFi and there was no drain. I'm getting amazing battery life today tho. But no dozing so I'll see tonight I guess.

If that's the case, you probably have an RX wakelock, and flashing a custom kernel [kylo for example] has that as a simple wakelock toggle you can enable.
Or block it by other means.

No problem, also:

Also also: when in the kernel, there is a bug with all 4 wlan toggles, make sure it shows up as 'disabled' [toggle to the left] to have it enabled.

Honestly Android OS is the worst kind of drain because its hard to find a smoking gun. It's just the OS doing something we don't know.. While Facebook had its wakelocks, the thing is Facebook itself is not draining that much. Something else is going on.

Hello, since MIUI 11 my Mi9T basically sucks. The battery drain is just insane (35/45% only Android idle power).
With MIUI12 things got even worse.
Tried any fix on earth, adb things, nothing solved.
There is a way (a ROM, a flashable package, an adb command, microg, what you want) to fix this insane problem that no one managed to solve and that is killing every mi9t?
thanks. Heard that even changing rom doesnt solve the problem in many cases.
Same here, but I dont have aby problem with Miui11. When I get Miui12, battery drain makes me feel like something is wrong with my phone from the hardware point.

Hey everyone,
I've observed low idle battery drains by disabling some system apps on MIUI 12.
List: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VEFtOO89gxExNz7XxJPOl5X-TgyzweIS/view?usp=drivesdk
I assume that it should work for Miui 11 as well.
Why don't you give it a try and let me know how it works for you?
Steps:
1. Freeze using App Control on SD Maid (ROOT)
2. Force Stop Frozen apps
3. Make sure to remove autostart permissions using Appops
4. Make sure they're not running through the App Control tab on SD Maid
I'm guessing that you can also disable these apps using adb if you dont have root.
