Hello, I noticed that when typing with my right hand, I can't seem to use the keys on the left edge of the screen such as number 1 on Samsung keyboard for instance. It works some times but mostly not and when trying over and over it registers 2 out of 10 times. I'm not sure it is a sensitivity problem as with my left hand, number 1 works always. It seems that the edge of the screen works best when approached by the hand on the same side as if it works under a certain angle or so, anybody noticed this? I tried swiftkey and it is the same. Thanks
Somehow this thread got lost in the Q&A section?
Edit: Sorry, it looks like the search in the browser was not working properly.
So I went to Samsung store to test other S7 edge devices and they are all the same. The guy there mentioned that somebody else has complained about it earlier. It seems that when trying my hand slightly touches the edge and this stops the phone from recognising the touch on the other edge, weird.
I think what is happening is palm rejection by the right hand. You can resize the keyboard in settings or try Swift key

1010110101010101. Guess that's not an issue for me with the keyboard, but there have been other apps that made me wonder if my touches on the side were registering.

Sometimes the touch screen is WAY off and only restart is fixing it. Noticed this 2 times already.....
I've noticed this too. I was using the browser, and my screen presses were registering as all sorts of random things (like pressing the middle of the screen would press the zoom button). Restarting the browser seemed to fix it.
Add it to the nexus one issue list.

that's from a lack of multitouch. your hand is probably just barely touching the lower corner of the glass. when you press again in the middle, it registers on the softkeys. it is one of the things I *HATE* about this phone. I always seem to be touching the screen on the very edge. you almost cant use it with just one hand.
I find that I do that with my HTC Magic sometimes as well, the 'webbing' between my thumb and index finger sometimes touches the corner of the screen and brings up the 'app menu' in my left hand, or the 'add widget' menu in my right hand (sense ui). Just another general thing about touch screens and their placement
the four touch buttons arent that accurate. didnt have this problem on the droid. i rarely miss it there but on the nexus is becoming 50/50 chance of it not registering.
Lol how are you guys holding the phone, i always use it one handed and havent expirienced this, i guess everyones different.

This not necessarily a problem with this phone in particular. It is a phenonema that happens on all capacitive touch screens (that do not have multitouch). I work with them all the time (much larger scale) and the slightest touch on a border results in what appear to be calibration issues.
Multi touch takes into account for this, non multitouch does not.
This has happened to me also. Same exact thing, in the browser, the touch was way off, really way off. I was pressing the middle and the zoom button pressed. It was on the table so I know my other hand didn't touch it. It was also vibrating sometimes when I pressed the middle of it. Restarting seems to have fixed it for now.
happened to me in SMS and browser and the only fix was restart the phone.....so its not me accidentally touching the screen in another point.
ps. its so bad that i couldnt even use touch screen to power off the phone. i had to use track ball. (now i know why its there )
I've had this problem as well as other with touch screen. Sometimes I will hit an icon on the main screen and it will jump screens. When I'm in the menu's i hit one of the options and it goes to the one underneath it. I'm CLEARLY hitting the option I want and not the one below so it is infact a hardware problem in my case. I will be in the browser and hit a button and it will exit out of the browser, very annoying! Mine is unlocked but I wrote HTC so lets see what they say.
its a known prob with this phone, ppl are complaining all over Google forum, its very annoying, when it happens it doesn't just happen in the browser, also in text message n home screen ect...

Webbed fingers are gross.
I have now experienced this definitively once. It happened while using the dolphin browser. I wiped the screen off, set it on a table, poked with only one finger, and could not for the life of me get the software keyboard to click on the correct button. Just wouldn't happen. Had to restart the phone to fix it. But it's only happened once since I got the thing on launch day.
^ same thing for me. Does the OTA fix this, I have not received it yet. Wish I saw this before I created a thread, sorry.

i dunno, but touches (especially multitouch) seems ALOT more responsive and accurate than before i did the new update... i used dolphin prior and pinch zooming seemed jittery and like the phone didnt want me to do it... now everything seems smooth as butter!
obviously this is only short term though, but hopefully this fix will also address some of the calibration issues (that i also experienced) that the N1 has been known to have...
I have searched around but have not been able to find a solution, I have a new (two days old) Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge +. I love the phone so far, Android 5.1.1 is great, I have always like the TW interface, but I have this one nagging issue, and believe it or not its a big problem. The phone works super in all aspects but with games. Which during my off time I love Tower Madness and Clash of Clans they are my go to solitaire games =) BUT...... The touch screen on this phone is so sensitive it has a hard time registering the difference between screen scrolling or tap to select. So if I go to tap a unit it scrolls the screen ever so lightly before I even tap, then moves the screen, then I have to tap ever so accurately and deliberate or hit it a million times to register I am tapping not scrolling.
This is the one area the phone is just so bad. I have actually tested this over and over and I can scroll the screen without physically touching it holding my finger just above it say 1/16th of an in or less and it will move with my finger like the hover option on my old Note and Note 2. I cannot for the life of me find any sensitivity setting and its a phone issue not an app issue, unless the app can make you scroll the hardware without touching it . The only setting I can find is the mouse/touchpad sensitivity setting which has no affect on this.
Has anyone else been able to fix this?

And I thought it was just me who's thinking that I could literally scroll and use the touch screen without touching it :silly: (may be from 1 mm distance). The effects are less after I've put on the Zagg screen protector, its really thick and rubbery ( with friction). I think they did it to make it work even with gloves on or something since I couldn't find any option to turn on/off the glove mode previously introduced. I also miss the air gesture features introduced with S4.
Yeah it's annoying being forced to have a glove mode at the sacrifice of running apps in the first place. One feature should not defeat the phones use like this.

Interesting, I have the opposite issue. The screen seems much less sensitive than my normal s6 edge.

Even I noticed it, but it's not as drastic as it's for you, so I guess I can live with it. Also at times when holding the phone in one hand it registers my finger from the sides and hinders my main input.

That was happening before. After the Spigen Case, no more...
Any luck?
I wondered if there were a resolution to this issue? I have a new Samsung Galaxy Note 5, and am having the same issue. I play DomiNations, and every tap pans the screen. It's maddening.
I wish, too, I could use the S Pen stylus, but I think that might be more of a game implementation issue than anything.
Open Phone Dialer.
Dial *#2663#
Press TSP FW Update (General)
This will update screen drivers to latest version - has totalloy cured my screen tap scrolling sensitivity issues.
Settings/accessibility/dexterity and interaction/tap and hold delay. Change the 0.5 to 1 sec. Looks like it helped my note edge. I hope it helped someone.
I'm also having the same issue. Every time I try to tap a button inside a game, it scrolls the window instead of activating the button. Of course this also happens when I tap and hold. The screen registers it as movement and tries to scroll instead of tap and hold.
This is a strange one to me. I've noticed the phone missing touches when I touch the menu or share buttons with my thumb as those menus won't open and respond. Sometimes it will work properly 10x in a row, sometimes touches are missed 10x in a row. I have show touches enabled in the developer options so I can also see touches being missed that way too. The strange part is this doesn't happen when I use my finger, it properly registers touches in those locations every time. Has anybody else noticed this? Can anyone provide insight as to why this would be?
Hey, I noticed this aswell... Tried with multitouchtester, but everything looked Fine...
The top right of the screen always used to give me trouble too.
Yeah, this issue pretty annoying to me, but at least there appears to be a workaround. I am wondering if this could be due to a firmware issue and if it could be fixed with an update?
To me, it is the top left corner. It is not severe but it is there.
Coming from Nexus 5x which had same problem after an ROM update, I hope it gets fixed in future update as in the case of N5X.
Not getting this issue at all. Running on 58.019S
Hello all
I just got a UK unlocked s8 and I love it but I'm having an issue with the multi touch.
It cannot register multi touch properly. I notice the issue whilst typing on the keyboard.
I downloaded those multi touch tester and if I put my left thumb and 2 fingers from my right hand then place them on the screen at the same time, it does not always register 3 touches. If you move your fingers then it will.
Anyone have this issue?
Could it be another app that is causing the issue?
Faulty screen?
Thanks
Okay so I've worked it out. The issue occurs when I set the phone to qhd! If I use full HD then the issue goes away. How lame is that!
Edit. I've set qhd again and this time it appears to be working. I'll monitor this
I got 10 touch registered with no problem, before running out of fingers and screen is set for maximum resolution, never noticed any missing touches either. Not sure why yours would be different.
Well I guess me changing the resolution messed something up. Changing them back and forth sorted the issue out
I was having the same problem with my galaxy s8 plus. It couldn't recognize more than 2 fingers. At last I got a solution. That is, just go to your call dailer and then ty-pe *#2663# then update TSP. And you are ready to rock 10 fingers.
same problem

I have the same problem. Whenever i play a FPS game using 4 fingers it only allows me to use 2 fingers. Rebooting the phone only temporarily solves the problem before it comes back. Changing the resolution solves it temporarily as well. Is there any other solutions?
Anyone having issues with 2 side edges not registering any touch events?
I have Microsoft launcher and in the app drawer, when I try to tap in the alphabets, it has no response.
Left and right edge touch response isn't very good. It got a little better with one of the updates but it's far from ideal. I assume this is because of the accidental touch parameters used in an edge-to-edge display. I wish this was an adjustable setting because I'd rather deal with mis-touches than poor response.
what I've noticed is that when you slide your finger inwards from the edge and then down you get the alphabet listing. works in Nova as well
Tapping links/icons on the edges is problematic for me, too. Software fix by decreasing event trigger threshold for x,y's near edges?
interesting to see this. Almost looks like the same problem. They guy also states that sliding your finger works but tapping is not recognized.
Sideload the 8.0 beta. I no longer have any touches not being registered from using the beta for about 15 hours now.

I'm still experiencing the same on Oreo. About 7mm on each side not responding to any touch events. I might return the phone and get 5t but it cost me only$350 from amazon, so still debating.
