[D802] my phone is stuck on bootloop - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so first here's what happend,
my phone was on charger, on a mattress, at night it fell down from it, about 8 inches from the ground, in the morning when I woke up, my phone was on the LG logo, turning on and off, doing the same, tried to turn it off, no respond, unplugged the charger and phone give no respond to any action (tried holding the power button for 30 seconds or more but nothing)
I plug it into the usb cable, the logo shows up once, then the red LED start blinking
I left it charging for a day or two, but nothing, been 10 days since that happend
when I try to access download mode, the download mode icon does show up but disappear after 4 seconds and back to the red LED

note, my phone is not rooted and debug mode is not enbaled

[Q] Galaxy S4 Won't boot (even download mode)

Hello, my s4 turn off yesterday, i think it's a battery problem but when i connect the charger (usb or energy) the phone wont charge.
so i think it's a battery problem, i test with other battery and the problem remains.
The Led won't turn on and if i plug out the battery and plug on the device start, but turn off on firs samsung logo in a second.
If I turn on in download mode or recovery mode, the device turn off in a second too.
Its strange cause the device start, but not remain on for 1 second!
It's probably your power button that is hanging/broken.
YEP!

HARD BRICK... pls help me!

hi. well, i expected this and im doomed.... i had my phone in the fastboot mode and i tried everything i could. i tried the solution and now what happened is the phone is dead.
what happens now is well nothing. it does not power on, it does not go to download mode, it does not go to recovery, it does not even go to the fastboot mode.
when i connect to pc, via usb cable, only thing that comes on my pc is multiple like 10 new drives and it asks me to format them before use. the screen turns on but only show black color. it does not even show LG logo. only black color. when i remove usb and press and hold power button phone turns off. its not even charging.
can any one tell me any solution to this?
See in general there is a thread. If you see multiple partitions then its still fixable. See the thread from no download mode etc as title

Make sure the phone is turned off. I had the same issue. Press power button for 15 seconds or so. Then press volume up,then connect to pc/laptop. It will enter dl mode.

Agreed - I've also experienced this. The phone doesn't power down if you're still connected via USB, so make sure you've unplugged it, and then ensure that you're powered down by holding the power button for a while. Then, while holding down VolUp, connect the USB cable. You may need to try this a few times.

Help diagnosing damage

I dropped my S4 on a hard floor in its case and it was still working for a few minutes and then turned off. Now when I take the battery out and put it back in it automatically shows the first Samsung screen, vibrates, then turns off. I can't get it into recovery or download. Thanks for any help.

Probably your power button is stuck. Try to wiggle it loose or replace it.

I've taken the phone apart to make sure nothing came loose and the power button it moving. Could it be damaged and still be clicky?

I found this.
Maybe give it a shot:

The phone doesn't stay on long enough to boot. I tried recovery and download mode and it sometimes shows that it's going to recovery then powers off.
I tested the power button with my multimeter and the circuits check out. Not sure where to go from here.

I am still sure it's your power button.
- The device boots automatically when you put the battery in.
- It reboots before it enters recovery
- It reboots before or when you are in download mode.
It's a common problem.
I just ordered the replacement switch. I will post back after I receive it and solder it on.

Thanks for the input. I was almost ready to give up on this phone. I ended up breaking the power button off by wiggling it with a screwdriver and booting it by plugging it in without a battery then putting the battery in and holding to use download mode and canceling to boot.

Need help H918 completely dead after attempting to upgrade to 10t through TWRP

I was trying to upgrade and it got stuck during the flash. I had to do a battery pull. I was going to boot back into recovery, but it didn't work. I got a message about the bootloader being corrupted and the phone shut off. I can't turn it back on.

No. It doesn't power on anymore. I tried pulling the batter, but it makes no difference.
Just to be clear, with charged battery and phone OFF, you hold vol+ and plug in to pc and you get nothing?
Yeah, does it do anything holding volume + and connecting to a PC? If not does it show up in the PC device manager at all as something odd?

Not exactly. I hear the tone Windows plays when something is plugged in. The phone is completely dead no matter what I do. No prompts in Windows.

Mmm, if you open device manager while it's plugged in I'm guessing it may show up as Qualcomm hs-usb ... Without download mode it's pretty much bricked yeah.
Sorry, man. Doesn't look good.
Yeah, it appears that way.

The phone DOESN'T turn on/go into recovery/go into safe mode/turn on the charging LED

last night it was fine, when i woke up this morning it was showing a black screen instead of the AOD and the charging led was green so i force shut it down by holding the power button, and then it didnt turn on charge or anything. the samsung logo wont show up either. I'd really appreciate it if anyone has a solution, and thanks!
