Hi all,
Those Samsung emoji are really bugging me after being on a fully-rooted, xposed-heavy, super-customized phone. I found some apps in the Play store that promised the ability to change emoji, but (at least for me; maybe you've had better luck?), they're incompatible with my device.
I'd love to see Roboto + Noto Color Emoji and am contemplating trying to modify an existing Flipfont to add them both, but no idea if that would be successful.
Has anyone found a way to replace the emoji on our rootless devices?
Bump!
I would like to know this as well... I *hate* the Samsung emoji set! I've tried downloading different Emoji fonts from the Play store, but none of them seem to work. :sigh:
Keeping my fingers crossed for a root solution... As that would be the answer I think we're all looking for (in the US at least. )

I just got my Galaxy S4 earlier today, and I love it. The stock SMS app is worlds better than the equivalent on the Galaxy S III. Therefore, I am keeping it (especially because of the lock screen widgets). The only thing that I am wondering about is how to get emoji, which I know is supported with Android 4.2. Interestingly, I can receive emoji - I just can't send them.
Is there any way I can input emoji without rooting? Like perhaps there is a Android 4.2 keyboard that has the option to input emoji as well.
Thanks!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jlsoft.inputmethod.latin.jelly.free has an emoji plugin you can install. It was a little laggy for me so I deleted it. You can try though.
Is it me or does none of the FlipFonts you install work on the Galaxy S4. I get this message when I select it..
"This font is not available".
Anybody else experience this?
I read elsewhere on the XDA main Samsung Galaxy S4 forums it is believed to be that the fonts have not been optimized for full HD on the s4.

Really..thanks for the info. I wonder where we would find FlipFonts that are...
Not sure why it isn't working, but here's a thread about custom fonts on the S4. Read both pages before proceeding :fingers-crossed:

Hello there,
I am the developer "Free Font Apps" in the Play Store.
We have started releasing s4 compatible fonts, and I just wanted to let you guys know that they are there, and they work on the Galaxy S4 phone without needing a restart. If you search the Play Store using the a phrase like:
"Free Font Apps" s4 4-Fontyou will find the font packs. Each pack has 4 fonts that should work with all Galaxy phones that support FlipFont (including the s4).
I will continue to publish new fonts with s4 support. Let me know if you have any requests.
Any of our older fonts can still be used but you will need the iFont program to set the font and then restart your phone.
Thanks!

Confirmed, I downloaded this font pack:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.monotype.android.font.pack.handsome
It works perfectly, just change the font in display settings...no need to use another app to apply the change and no restart.
Thx, looking forward to more compatible fonts!

Thanks so much for these great fonts. I do not root because, frankly, I am not android literate enough to feel I could go through it with any sort of success and I really don't want to own a $600 brick.
Anyway, the fonts work great and I am looking forward to future fonts. :fingers-crossed:
I will also make sure that I rate you 5 stars on Google Play.
I love S-Finder feature of touchwiz lollipop. But i don't like touchwiz... So I'm using CM12.1 by frapeti on my i9500.
I don't find any other phone search app as efficient as S-Finder. Because i guess it is contextual search (search within apps). It gives results of deepest links of almost any app installed on ur phone.
Like search for some text in a note saved in the Evernote app.. And also search for artist in google play..
Also search for some files in ES file manager.. Then search for tickets booked in bookmyshow app..
Im very much addicted to this functionality but then i now switched to CM12.1. Even google now cant search for the deepest links...
It cant get me the results from Evernote like 3rd party apps.
If not 'S-Finder', atleast any other alternative to it if anybody has been using??
I'm in dire need of it...
Thank you..
Porting Samsung features to an AOSP ROM will never happen. The features rely on changes made to framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk and those changes are both too extensive and undocumented to port.
If you're looking for an alternative and don't want to use Google Now, search for Microsoft Cortana and try it. Personally, I prefer Google Now.
So I'm on BeanStalks newest ROM release 12/23 and its obvious 6.0.1 but I'm not getting the new emojis on my keyboard?!? anyone know whats going on?
Which keyboard are you using? They are available in the Google Keyboard, but the one I use, Swiftkey, hasn't updated yet. I can see them system wide, but have to switch to Google Keyboard to create them.

I use Google Keyboard. That's what I don't understand
I would guess that it's related to your custom ROM not including the proper fonts, then.
So I was playing a game when I noticed some emojis were blank. The person was apparently using an android and the missing emojis were angry faces and black hearts (which I have) but when that person uses them I can't see them. Any solutions?
EDIT1: Found problem. It seems there's a new emoji update going around on unicode 9 and they have it. I try looking for it but only found google and ios update, not samsung. Can someone help?
