[Q] Android 4.2 with Emoji Support - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I just got my Galaxy S4 earlier today, and I love it. The stock SMS app is worlds better than the equivalent on the Galaxy S III. Therefore, I am keeping it (especially because of the lock screen widgets). The only thing that I am wondering about is how to get emoji, which I know is supported with Android 4.2. Interestingly, I can receive emoji - I just can't send them.
Is there any way I can input emoji without rooting? Like perhaps there is a Android 4.2 keyboard that has the option to input emoji as well.
Thanks!

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jlsoft.inputmethod.latin.jelly.free has an emoji plugin you can install. It was a little laggy for me so I deleted it. You can try though.

Voice to text

Hi All,
I'm new to android and have just purchased the Samsung Galaxy S. Can anyone tell me if it has voice to text like the nexus one or desire ?
yes under settings you can enable it.. but app has to support it.
Hmm i can't seem to find it. I want to be able to use speech to text for things like SMS messages.
I can see an app called "Voice Text" in the market - do I need to buy this first ? It's got terrible reviews.
I cannot find it either.
The Nexus One came with a voice recognition keyboard and voice search. Were these Android 2.1 standard or were they specific to the N1?

I want to know as well. I think the Evo's feature on this is great, to speak out a text reply if driving is great.
My guess is they are 2.1 standard (I read voice input EVERYWHERE is a feature). However Samsung have replaced the standard android keyboard with their own, and Swype does not have that feature (yet, I looked it up and they said they will be adding the microphone button very soon)
You may be able to install the default keyboard for android?
Supposedly this is a feature of Android 2.1, but for some reason Samsung seems to have left it out.
I purchased Better Keyboard, which allows you to enable the mic/input button on the keyboard, but when you press it you get an error message that your phone does not have the voice recognition engine installed.
You can use the Samsung Apps on the SGS to install VLingo for free (it's $9.99 in the Market), but you have to use the crappy vlingo keyboard to get the mic button that works.
Very disappointed to see this feature missing from the SGS. Supposedly the SGS version of Swype is getting a mic input button, so I wonder if the newer JWM2 ROM floating around has that in Swype and includes voice recognition.
Edit: this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712100 has a link to a working version of the voice search. I've installed it and it works.
Some are reporting that installing Google Search by Voice from the Market corrects this issue. I can't validate since that app doesn't show in the Market on either my Nexus One or my Galaxy S.

Emojis

So I'm on BeanStalks newest ROM release 12/23 and its obvious 6.0.1 but I'm not getting the new emojis on my keyboard?!? anyone know whats going on?
Which keyboard are you using? They are available in the Google Keyboard, but the one I use, Swiftkey, hasn't updated yet. I can see them system wide, but have to switch to Google Keyboard to create them.

I use Google Keyboard. That's what I don't understand
I would guess that it's related to your custom ROM not including the proper fonts, then.

Google Emoji Flipfont?

Hi all,
Those Samsung emoji are really bugging me after being on a fully-rooted, xposed-heavy, super-customized phone. I found some apps in the Play store that promised the ability to change emoji, but (at least for me; maybe you've had better luck?), they're incompatible with my device.
I'd love to see Roboto + Noto Color Emoji and am contemplating trying to modify an existing Flipfont to add them both, but no idea if that would be successful.
Has anyone found a way to replace the emoji on our rootless devices?
Bump!
I would like to know this as well... I *hate* the Samsung emoji set! I've tried downloading different Emoji fonts from the Play store, but none of them seem to work. :sigh:
Keeping my fingers crossed for a root solution... As that would be the answer I think we're all looking for (in the US at least. )

Emojis aren't showing

Hello!
For quite some time now I can't find my emojis on my device. Emojis aren't showing on the keyboard and I can't find them in settings ( maybe they are just turned off or something...). I'm using default samsung keyboard and I won't change to any other keyboard from like google store or something. I already tried to delete CM security but it didn't solve the problem. I am using Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with currently still 6.0.1 android. I would really appreciate your help.
Thanks!

How to disable Keyboard forever

Since the Nougat Update, I noticed, that I can also disable the build in Samsung Keyboard, if I have a separet Keyboard like Gboard installed. However after some time, the Samsung Keyboard seems to enable itself again.
Is there some way to let the Samsung Keyboard disabled all the time, without rooting the device?

One of those Package disablers should do the trick, check Google Play.
There is a Problem with Package Disablers i come across the last times i used them. If i disable the Samsung Keyboard with them, then the Sync also for Google Keyboard (or Gboard) seems to be disabled also. Maybe there is some dependence, maybe not, i didn't know exactly. But if i disable the internal Keyboard via the hard way, it disables Sync for Gboard also.
So i was surprised and exited to found such a switch in the official settings of the S7 Edge.
BTW: The only reason why i would like GBoard more is, that i haven't found a way to type Special Characters like ³ and ² with the Samsung Keyboard. I didn't use the GIF Features or such things with GBoard. If you know a easy way to type such Special Characters with Samsung Keyboard, i could switch back.
