Try it, if it doesn't work, flash factory image with fastboot, it's not hard.

directly with the fastboot how?
If you flashed stock recovery again do a wipe data/factory reset in the menu and it should fix it.

Check the stickies... [HOW-TO] How to flash a factory image / return to stock / unlock / root #
Hello, I got my Nexus 4 yesterday, and I'm not new to XDA.
I proceeded to unlock the bootloader and then I flashed TWRP to recovery.
I then tried to boot back into system but I was presented with a very long wait time at the Google Logo and the Nexus Logo.
I did some googling and found the best way round this is to wipe dalvik and cache, but I receive the error 'unable to mount \cache'.
I tried using CWM and pressing wipe dalvik doesn't work either.
Does anybody have any ideas? I'm unable to boot and I'm worried I'm stuck
EDIT: Still not fixed as of 22:28 05th August 2013
After unlocking the bootloader it takes a while to boot because everything got wiped for security by the bootloader.
Try waiting for it to boot and report back.

I left it over dinner to boot (I left when it was at the Nexus Logo) and when I came back it was still booting.
I've gone and restored factory images from google and I'm currently waiting for boot again
Thanks in advance

Mmmm, while it is on the boot animation for a few minutes it should give you ADB access so try to use "adb logcat" on your PC and post here so I can see what is going on.
What android version have you flashed?

Could be to do with the fingerprint thingy to check if you are a bot or something.
Because you have access to the bootloader and have TWRP you can try flashing the bootloader here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147194

Well I went for the flash through TWRP after pushing the zip across by ADB, and I get the following:

Oops.
It should work if you get a custom rom which is good.
If you want to remain on the stock rom then go the bootloader and do "fastboot -w".

I did 'fastboot -w' and all was successful, trying to boot, no improvements.
When wiping cache & dalvik in TWRP I get errors too :L
EDIT: Btw thank you so much for helping me out, I'm so so worried right now it was a birthday present from my parents and they'd be so upset to see it broken. I knew I should've waited a while before unlocking the bootloader but it's too late

My Nexus 4 was a birthday present has well and I updated, rooted and unlocked the bootloader with no issues.
Now this may fix the problem but this is really advanced and risky so you need to follow EVERYTHING carefully: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2347060

wrong advice, my mistake... thanks for the reminding simms22.
But I wanna stay rooted
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
You don't have to unroot. Just download and flash TWRP 2.6.3.2. On that build, they fixed the issues of 4.4 ROMS incorrectly flashing. Using it myself with no problems. Its in Original Android Development if I'm not mistaken
Flashing 4.4 Factory Image issues
Currently on my Nexus 4.
Android 4.3 Unlocked and Rooted
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-perf-gf43c3d9
Build: JWR66Y
Baseband: M9614A-CEFWMAZM-2.0.1700.84
Using ClockWorkMod Recovery v6.0.4.3, when trying to flash the 4.4 factory image .zip file on the SD Card I keep getting an "Installation Aborted" error after "Installing update..." step and the red Triangle on the android figure.
When attempting to sideload using stock recovery, getting a "Signature Verification Failed"
Any Suggestions? Thanks

op, all you have to do is update your recovery to twrp latest(v.2.6.3.3). flash your rom, flash your 4.4 gapps, and flash the latest supersu then reboot.

I will chime in on this one. I too have had constant failures with TWRP trying to flash ROMs lately. I'm running 2.6.3.3 and everything results in failure. I've tried the unchecking of system mount, multiple downloads with verified MD5s, sideloads, etc. Nothing is working.

next time you flash, after it fails, boot into the bootloader from the recovery. then, from the bootloader, go into the recovery again and flash.

ill be honest, i dont know why. but i do know that it has worked for many. the alternative, which works 100% of the time, would be to delete your recovery, then flash it again. btw, did it work for you?

I won't be able to experiment for a couple of weeks. I do know that I've wiped my phone four times or more in the last week with the 4.3 and 4.4 factory images and either manually or using one of the tool kits have added TWRP custom recovery and rooted the phone. Each time trying to flash a ROM it would result in a failure.
Next time I get the chance, I'll give your suggestion a shot and let you know. Are there logs I can capture that might prove useful?

So essentially I've done that with each factory image installed, correct? I'll have to read up on ADB and Fastboot to get the commands to remove the existing recovery. Will be a good way to kill some time (such the life I lead, being envious is not good for your soul)...

no, you just flashed the next version of the recovery over the last. occasionally, something doesnt want to update in the partition, so clearing the previous recovery before flashing the new one will take car of it.

OK that confuses me. If using fastboot to place a new boot loader, radio, recovery and ROM are onto the phone and I have to 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img' to replace the stock recovery that doesn't wipe out the stock recovery? Fabulous sentence structure.

Hello,
This is probably a noob question & I tried to research around myself. I've always rely on someone making a flashable stock rom for every update. I usually keep my phone rooted but run on stock rom with xposed. There's hasn't been a stock rom for m build published. Could anyone share the appropriate adb manual update instructions without factory resetting my phone? Thanks in advance.

Won't flashing the factory image wipe his data any way?
I think only when you unlock and relock the bootloader is when it'll erase data.

Using the flash-all batch file in the factory images will wipe the device, but you can do it manually without wiping.

If you have access to stock recovery you can flash an official update.zip EVEN if you are on 10u, you can flash the 10u update.zip to get download mode back.
I don't have that zip, but I know it is around here somewhere -- you will have to search.
If you can't find it, I am sure T-Mobile will be pushing out 10v pretty soon. If you take the OTA, that will also restore download mode.

I interpreted his reply as: "He tried a factory reset and was still unable to get to download mode".
Even though he said he was rooted, I think what he meant to say was that he was TRYING to root. It is not impossible to root your phone without installing TWRP, but someone that is capable of doing so wouldn't be asking how to get download mode back.
However, with that said, if download mode AND stock recovery are gone, you are correct, he has a brick.
