Hey all! There's a bootloader bounty in the tmobile S7 edge(935T) general discussion forum. If it gets unlocked in sure that would include the 930T. Pledge to Donate if you got it!
?
I pledge $10 via PayPal
Nice! I pledged 50
I'll pledge money. How are we going about doing this? Have to make sure we don't create a pot and someone runs off with it lol
Just go to the tmobile S7 edge forum and pledge. You don't give any loots until YOUR bootloader is unlocked. I pledged strictly for an unlocked bootloader for my tmobile S7.
Who ever unlocks the bootloader I'm sure will be posting a PayPal account to send the loots to.

ATT is in progress as they crack it T Mobile will be the same :highfive:
My understanding is that if one of the qualcomm variants (S7 or S7 Edge from Att, Sprint, Tmobile, etc) gets cracked they should all be the same (or at least extremely similar).
Like demonith said...Have a look at the bounty thread over at Att S7 http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s7/how-to/bounty-att-s7-root-exploit-t3341274/page25
Looks like they are almost there!!!!!!
I guess in next week we getting root 100%
Can the bootloader only be unlocked by Samsung them self or is it possible for a developer to figure how to unlock the bootloader? Thanks
I waiting for that in loong time hoping for good answer

Very nice! Glad to see this being offered. Everyone, keep in mind: the larger this number grows, the more potential DEVS will be interested in finding the solution.
I have a couple recommendations. @jodhaaa , it would be a good idea to check this thread regularly, and update the op with the usernames of all who have pledged, how much, and a running total of the full amount that will be offered to whomever finds the solution.
It may also be a good idea to offer a "side-bounty" for those wishing for domestic (U.S.) unlock as well.....for instance, "xdamember123" might say "I pledge $20 for international unlock, and an additional $10 for domestic unlock".
Great effort, OP - this may go a long way in developing the solution.
Good Luck, everyone :good:

I think that what most of us want is a domestic unlock. You can always acheive international by calling Sprint. Thats the only reason these phones also support GSM. AND if they cannot gain an international unlock thru Sprint. They shouldnt have had Sprint as carrier in the first place.

You have to keep in mind that MANY people bought the Sprint variant not knowing they couldn't simply purchase a "GSM Unlock Code" from an online merchant, due to the nature of Sprint using OMADM for the unlock....and since they are neither a Sprint Customer, nor CAN be a Sprint customer....they won't ever get unlocked by Sprint.
Such was the case for the Moto X: in fact, the majority of the "pledgers" were from outside the U.S.
Once could certainly say "they should have done their research, first", but that's not what this is about. I DO, however, agree that the domestic solution is appealing to many...

I think I've seen someone make that statement before.....I'm very curious how you arrive at this logic? What leads you to believe it will be "easy" once the international solution is found? I would argue that the international unlock *should* be MUCH easier to find, since we have actual internationally-unlocked phones to compare NVDATA with...

Yeah I guess your right. I forgot that we here in the US arent the only ones with the problem. Sadly each year we have less and less people in the Sprint forums on any phone. Sprint is getting pretty old in the game. Honestly we would need more support from outside of XDA to get the bounty more on an interest level.
Now i have to find out how to set up a paypal account.

Currently no one is focusing on a domestic unlock. Everyone is trying to do the international unlock first so no one has to contact sprint to do so.
Once an international unlock is found/developed/understood/gifted it allows the phone to at least recognize other sims. After the international unlock is performed they can focus on domestic.

Ok instead of a petition ....offering them $50,000,000,000 USD (50 billion) and they may consider it.
Or....convince like 80% of Verizon subscribers so threaten to transfer to T-Mobile.
I think I've seen one of these threads for every Samsung device since the S4 or so, and they never work. AT&T and Verizon aren't listening to you since 95% of their millions of customers don't even know what root is, so why be their customer?

Ha ha. Your right about that. After I got the note 3 on AT&T and the bootloader was locked. I decided that since I'm paying for the phone it belongs to me not AT&T to decide what I can do with my phone. So I waited for the unlimited data plan from T-Mobile and made the switch. Never been happier. I use to pay AT&T 140$ for my note 3 with 300 megs of data a month and my wife's phone didn't even have data. Now I pay 160$ and both of us have unlimited data. It was too much of a sweet deal to let pass.

+1 This is the decision of AT&T and Verizon. When Samsung sells an international unlocked phone, it always has an unlocked bootloader, which is why you should do this of you insist on staying with AT&T:

S4 had a locked boot loader on mdk on Verizon. We had the Loki method that bypassed the locked boot loader, but it was still locked. That vulnerability was fixed in later updates.
I continue to be a Verizon customer because they have the best network. Doesn't mean we can't still be pissed about carriers locking down phones we buy. The whole system is messed up.
Anyone from the UK with Vodafone and a recent Samsung device? Did Vodafone lock the bootloader of that Samsung device? I'm desperately trying to find out if the bootloader on my pre-ordered Vodafone UK S7 Edge will be locked, if it is and can't be easily unlocked I'm sending the phone back when I get it.
I spoke to someone at Vodafone and he claimed it did come locked, but I suspect he was confused with sim lock despite my best attempts to explain the difference. I've seen mention on the PingPong root thread of someone who rooted their Vodafone S6 (here), although I'm not sure that root method required an unlocked bootloader without reading up on it.
I'd really hate to return this phone when I get it, but no way in hell am I paying £40 a month for a phone I can't root.
Didn't really think about boot loader I went with EE but from buymobiles.net so I assume it won't have EE stuff on the phone so won't be locked
Carrier phones like vodafone are locked to the first sim inserted , better get one at carphone warehouse as thats an unlocked version
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
You're confusing sim lock and bootloader lock. I'm taking about the latter.

No yours won't be branded. It is only branded when ordered directly from EE. I wanted to avoid getting it directly from EE but being 90 days away from the end of my contract left me with that being the only option to upgrade. They're also very slow with updates which is the main reason I wanted to avoid getting it direct.
People keep telling me that at least I get wifi calling but that's not something I will ever use as the signal strength is fantastic in my area.
why not cancel and preorder through samsung
Because, unless I go directly through Vodafone, I don't get the 20% employer discount. And over the two lines I have that saves me £480 over 24 months.
Just in case someone manages to get hold of a Vodafone S7 today (I read at least one person on another forum has had theirs delivered) I would appreciate if someone can check this out and let me know. Apparently, if you go into the dev options and the OEM Lock toggle is there and usable, the phone has an unlocked bootloader. Cheers in advance.

I find it ridiculous there doesn't appear to be an east way to discover if a devices bootloader is locked or unlocked. Surely there is an app that can discover this?
Good news by the sounds of it. A few people I know who have the S7 edge from Vodafone have said the bootloader appears to be unlocked.
EE usually lock the load loader too but when I got mine it was unlocked. Result.
Any idea how they discovered this? And how did you know your phone is unlocked? The OEM Unlock toggle apparently isn't an indication it's definitely unlocked.

I'm not sure how they knew, they just told me it was unlocked so maybe (like me) they're assuming the OEM unlock toggle means it's unlocked.
Yeah, I don't believe that indicates a definite unlocked bootloader. I'm going to do more digging but I might end up having to keep the phone and hope for the best. The only sure way is to attempt a custom kernel flash or custom recovery, and there is no chance of one of them in the next couple of weeks.
Would be good to know for sure before the 14 day return runs out.

Agreed with the other folks on here. Just gotta be straight honest or total bull to get it. I haven't made a single payment on my device, did the $300 trade-in deal and my second attempt was successful by going through their Facebook T-Force team. Told them I wanted to unlock bootloader but that required the phone to be fully unlocked. Also told them I have been a customer for 16+ years. Tenure is what got me what I wanted. That's also gotten me free SIM cards and free next day shipping on purchases. Just adapt your approach to whatever fits you best.

Agreed with the other folks on here. Just gotta be straight honest or total bull to get it. I haven't made a single payment on my device, did the $300 trade-in deal and my second attempt was successful by going through their Facebook T-Force team. I'm right now with a T-Force employee on twitter. ( Fingers crossed)
Let's see if I can convince them thanks for the tips. I been with T-Mobile for 5+ years now. Never have an unlocked phone from them
Let's see how it goes.
I tried maybe 5 times now... Called in / Facebook / online chat..... They will not unlock without device paid off and more than 40days service
I'm on EIP customer 10yrs plus and no luck
Only reason I want root is viper anyway.....ugh

Ask to talk to a supervisor. I can't imagine you being with them for a decade that they won't do the same for you that they did for me.
Here is the gist copy of my convo on facebook messenger:
ME: Hello, was wondering if someone could help me with an unlock. I'm just looking to unlock bootloader but apparently you can't do that without a full unlock initiated by you guys. I've been a customer for over 16 years and have no plans to leave, just want an unlocked bootloader to play with some extra stuff I have used for years. My number is ###-###-####.
TMO:Hey there Andrew! Thanks for taking the time to reach out to us. My name is Chris, and I'll be your #MagentaExpert today, and I'm eager to help out anyway I can! Before we can unlock any phone it has to meet certain eligibility requirements, and I can definitely check on that for you. Can you follow our secure link, so I can pull up all the details. Also what's the IMEI number for the OnePlus 6T? Let me know once you've had a chance to follow the link. *ChrisScott
***sent my IMEI and accepted the invite link through facebook***
ME:I understand the requirements for unlock, which are likely there to make sure people don't get devices under a deal and cut/run, but I can assure you I am not going anywhere as my tenure with T-Mobile affords me a very pleasant experience with support or really any other requests I may have.
TMO:Thanks for following the link for me! I'm pulling up all the details right now, so bear with me for just one moment please. Thanks! *ChrisScott
TMO:Thanks for your patience! Normally a phone needs to be on the account for at least 40 days, but I'm going to make an exception this time around because you've been apart of our family for a very longtime! I did process the override, so you should be able to follow these steps https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-38913 to complete the unlock. Let me know if you run into any trouble. In regards to the 9.0.5 there's no date set for the release, but as soon as it is available you should receive a push notification to your phone so you can update it. *ChrisScott

How did you get ahold of them on messenger? Just search for TMobile and picked @Tmobile but no reply...
I got a reply just now... Crossing my fingers...ugh
Yeah, just found them at default. They can be a little slow on the reply. https://www.facebook.com/TMobile/

Purchased mine on OfferUp. Was told paid off but two months later when I requested unlock from T-Mobile, Rep told me there is still balance on it. Could anyone recommend a reliable and safe unlock service for the T-Mobile 6t?
I already talked to TMobile on T-Mobile app and Tweeter for weeks. They only asked me to find the original seller....
I just wanted to get it sim unlocked... please help.
You could pm me if posting other websites is against xda rule... Much appreciate.

It seems to me your phone has been blacklist by Tmo for an unpaid account so I dont think any of the sim unlock services can do anything about it. Is your phone working with Tmo network now?

Yes I did browse the thread but I am looking to sim unlocked my 6t.
The method could not sim unlock a T-Mobile 6t, if I am correct.

Correct, just to convert the TMO 6T variant to OOS without the required sim/bootloader unlock first, the normal way!

It will if you don't pay off the balance and I'm surprised that TMO has it activated with an unpaid balance!

Well, the balance is not on my account, I can't do anything about it. T-Mobile don't even want me to pay it off since I don't know whose account it was belong to
My main carrier is ATT. I wish I could use the rebranding method to get it sim unlock but I guess I am out of luck
As long as the balance is not paid off, you don't own the phone, T-mobile does. If and when the original owner stops paying it, you're screwed. Btw, T-mobile has a tool to check the IMEI and balance status: https://www.t-mobile.com/verifyIMEI.aspx
I think you got scammed.

I met the seller at the T-Mobile store to check the IMEI when I purchased it. I am aware of the IMEI website.
Thank you for letting me know again that I am screwed, like T-Mobile has told me so.
Now, who knows a real solution for a paid unlock service?

To actually answer your question.
In the thread for converting a T-Mobile to International. Someone used cellunlocker and said it worked, here is the post. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78691393&postcount=645
He made a couple of post after that one answering questions about the service.

the site is down, any alternatives?
Unfortunately I got scammed (I'll tell you at the end why lol) as well. I knew the phone had a balanced on it because it was my cousins and he assured me he would pay it off. He was just a little tight with money right now so I went for it. I knew I couldn't get it unlocked since it had a balanced owed. There's a thread on here to sim unlock. Wasn't very difficult to do but you have to convert it to international rom first just like the previous post said. It took me less than 30 minutes to do it. After 8 months ..Welp, he didn't pay it off! The guy totally changed his number and blocked me on social media which I thought was funny. Moral of the story **** happens and never assume they will pay it off.
