Phone is set up with a swipe lockscreen, no pin/pattern, just a simple swipe.
Hangouts is configured to receive incoming calls on the googlevoice #.
Missed calls return phone back to the desktop rather than to lock screen or shutting the screen off entirely.
If a pin (or pattern?) lock screen security is set, then hangouts returns the phone back to the lockscreen.
The problem is if the phone is in pocket or case, then it's stuck at the desktop for whatever amount of time the screen timeout is set.
Similar test with the stock phone/dialer behaves correctly. Missed calls dump the phone back to the lockscreen which times out after several seconds.
Thoughts/suggestions? Already updated to latest hangouts version.

I looked everywhere for this and haven't seen anything.
If I set the entire phone to vibrate mode, incoming SMS won't vibrate.
Phone calls, email, all vibrate. SMS does not.
They only way I can get incoming SMS to vibrate is by setting SMS to "Also vibrate when notified"
The problem with this: Then SMS vibrates all the time, where phone is in vibrate or has sound on.
How do I set the SMS to only vibrate when the phone is set to vibrate?
I haven't found a way to do what you are requesting as of yet. Google took this away with the JB update I believe. However CM has an option in setting called profiles that will do this for you when properly set up. If you find something let us know I'd be interested.

There has to be some way around this, without the need to use a 3rd party sms app. I like the stock messaging app, but don't care for no vibration or vibrate all the time.
I also have an issue where the screen doesn't actually come on when sms is received, but I see a number of people on Sprint have that problem.
If I can find anything, I will post back. Hope to check some more tonight when I get off work.
Guys - my incoming calls screen has suddenly changed.
The buttons to accept and reject have changed from a circle to swipe to a button to hit.
More importantly, the ability to respond to an incoming call with a pre-written SMS (a feature I use a lot) has disappeared.
Does anyone know what this is about or how I can get that function back?
Thanks.
When an alert, such as a text message, facebook message, or calendar alarm triggers on my Nexus 4 (5.0.1 lollipop, all stock no root), no sound is generated. The LED blinks and the phone vibrates (which is nice) but the audible alert is missing. The ringtone thankfully works, as well as my alarm clock and pandora, so I know that the speakers are operational. I checked every setting I can locate in reference to notifications, including volume settings, notification tones, app notification settings, and so on. Priority and Silent are NOT selected, volume is basically at max, and I have custom tones set up for mostly every app that will allow me to select one. No apps have notifications suppressed. The tones work when I select them in the menu, and the problem does not seem to care what specific tone is used.
The phone was factory reset Saturday (2 days ago) when I switched to it from my last device. Any insight as to what I should check next?
update: i rebooted into safe mode and was successfully able to get notifications when i sent myself a text from another number and an email. google rep recommended i remove apps one by one until notifications work again, since it was seemingly a problem with one of the third party apps. but of course, after i boot the phone into regular mode, it works fine will monitor and update thread if i lose notifications again.
tl;dr reboot your phone before you make a post lol
In the last few days I have a problem with notifications. I get notifications when the screen is on. But as soon as I turn the screen off the alarm doesn't ring, I don't get notifications from Whatsapp or Facebook Messenger. Weirdly enough, I get my e-mails instantly no matter if the screen is on or off, same with receiving phone calls. What could be causing this? My phone is rooted with Cataclysm ROM. But I have the ROM for some time now and it worked normally.
I have the same thing here.
Did you use gmail for works ?
I am a stupid idiot. Since I have a custom ROM I enabled "Long press back to kill user app" in the Cataclysm settings. In time I started killing all apps like that upon exiting them. When you do this to your clock, facebook or whatsapp it kills them and they go to sleep. You can only wake them when you start them again and then the notifications come. Maybe it's the same for you?
Doesn't matter how I set my phone up I can't seem to answer calls
It rings and if I lift it up the lock screen appears but it doesn't show an incoming call.I unlock it expecting it to go to incoming call screen and it doesn't it shows the home screen. If I then select the dialer it goes to call history not incoming screen .Tbe incoming call only rings about 4 times before ending so By the time I have done this the caller has rang off ,am I missing something really simple
Thanks for any help
I think this happens when your default app configuration has no dialer selected. touch settings->apps->Default/Standard apps->dialer
take also a look at the permissions screen of the dialer app
