At least with a VZW SIM in, the adding of those 2 lines removes any access to Access Point Names in Settings.

I'm running jasmine rom Verizon sim, and this worked for me. Try adding a space between the last line and the two lines you're adding?

I did have a space. The effect is definate... I tried it several times... After reboot with the lines in... The setting settings->connections->more networks->mobile networks->Access Point Names dissappear. A couple of other options appear but neither leads to APN. I remove those 2 lines and the APN option reappears.
The value is letter L letter O letter L not letter L number 0 letter L correct?
I too am using Jasmine 6.01 and idlekernel (not leankernel)

Nope... I'm bootloader unlocked too... If fact I am the guy who modified the unlock code to work on 4.4.2 and earlier VZW Note 3 devices.
No biggie... I am on Verizon and intend to stay on Verizon so there's no need for different APN for me... Just curious to see what changed.

Using Galaxy tools I was able to change the mps code from upper case to lower which allowed editing of apn settings. There is a file some place in root you could also edit.

I was surfing the web and ran across this flashable zip to make your apn settings editable. Way convenient...

I figured I'd toss this out there as a way for us to pull together (hopefully) as a community.
Since ParanoidAndroid is based off of CM10, should the settings in apns-conf.xml (which I extracted and attached - just remove the ".zip" at the end of the file name) be the same on CM10?
I had applied the APN tweaks to CM10 (proxy/port settings) previously, and with this post had compared the info - and it's different. Just wondering if all these changes should be made to the APN settings.
I would imagine that all Sprint devices should have the exact same APN settings, but I could be wrong.

All you had to do was press the menu button and tap on the option "restore to default" exit that, and reboot your phone that was it, give it another try n let me know what happens

At first that's what I thought but after trying and trying I came to the conclusion that it wasn't going to work so thats why the differences on my xml from the default sprint settings, im not certain if this settings will work for any other ROMs but it works great on the 4.1.1 Paranoid.
Follow the steps carefully and give it another try

I didn't use this (the OP's) tweak because I'm on CM10, not ParanoidAndroid.
All I was asking, is this tweak applicable (settings-wise) to CM10? The tweak for CM9/10 for APN's is not as involved as this; this fix changes a lot more of the settings on the APN page.
I have a Verizon Galaxy Note 3 that i purchased from my brother. Theres no issues with IMEI or insurance or cancelled past due accounts. I pop in my Tmobile unlimited LTE sim card and i get LTE speeds without rooting or switching to band 4. Every now and then it will revert back to HSPA Plus speed but rarely. %99 of the time its on LTE. Only thing i did was put the correct APN for Tmobile LTE. So its great that the Verizon Note 3 works right out the box for Tmobile LTE. I want to enable AWS and Band 4 anyway. So i Root the phone using the new Toweroot method which was as easy as clicking a link and thats it. The phone is rooted. Heres my problem: I try and enter the code in the dialpad the *#2766336837# and nothing happens. I re-enter the code and press send this time and i get the error message "Connection Problem or Invalid MMI Code" Why is this happening? Is there a prior step i am missing?? I read about efs/carrier switch to enable this from off to on but how do i access it?? Please note that the tmobile sim card is in the phone when i attempt to do this. Should there be a verizon sim in to do this??
All the help would be appreciated.
Samsung disabled most of the dialer codes for the Note 3, including the service menu.

1- I'm not sure what is this code used for, but it seems the correct code is 27663368378, not 2766336837 (?)
2- Do you have a screenshot if this code was entered successfully? If yes, I can make a shortcut directly to this feature without entering the code.
3- Anyway, you can enable the hidden menu by follow this guide:
3.1- Make sure the file hiddenmenu.apk is present in the /system/app/ folder.
3.2- Install Terminal Emulator from the Play Store.
3.3- Enter the following commands:
Code:
su
echo -n ON > /efs/carrier/HiddenMenu
3.4- Reboot your device.
3.5- Try to enter these codes: *#06#, *#0011#, *#27663368378# (my suggested code) OR *#2766336837# (your original code) and see if it works.
Thanks. This method worked I am now able to access the service menu and change to band 4 but I noticed that band 4 was already active so much for that.

All settings are greyed out.
This is a screen shot after I put the att sim in and change the settings and rebooted with the Verizon/straight talk sim.
If you put in a ATT sim then you can add/change the apn info. (that's what I did to get around the problem)
You can also delete /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db then reboot and some say you can add a new APN but it doesn't work for me.
it adds telephony.db when rebooted and the standard Verizon APN is in there and nothing can be changed, it's all sill greyed out.
I also heard you can add to apns-conf.xml and when you have global selected it will find the apn, nvr tryed it, i want my menu ungreyed, I have root so whas he problem?
lol
Anyone figure this out yet?
My question is How do you just make the apn menu ungreyed while running a sim for verizon so you can change what u want?
EDIT: BTW if ur running on straighttalk on lollipop the menu is till greyed out.
I have root, Es File Explorer, Root Browser, SQL Editor, What file do I have to edit?
TIA for Everyone's Help, N I hope this helps someone else...
Anyone? Anyone?
I've been searching all over and haven't seen a way.
Ok Days and Days of reading and I came up with this to allow you to edit your apn's in the SM-N900V lollipop 5.0 apn menu with a Starighttalk Verizon sim... (Still doesn't work correctly on the SM-N900V, looks like it works on other phones tho.)
FYI this is a Version Note 3 SM-N900V with a Straight Verizon Sim, If you put in a ATT Sim you can change APN settings...
Here's my original Settings For the SM-N900V on straight talk with the Verizon sim.
Notices how all the settings are greyed out...
You need root then you can change Authtype from -1 to Authtype 0 Via SQLite Editor from play store so you can edit apn's via the apn menu.... (I have the free version, from what I read you need the pro version)
I have Authtype in my /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db when looking in SQLite Editor(free ver).
As you can see in the Red Line Box these are my settings...
If you change Authtype VIA SQLite Editor (free version) you will get.
As you can see it changed from the -1 to 0, but it also changed the carrier_enabled to "True" and modem_cognitive to "False"
When you reboot the phone the APN will not work because of the true & false it should remain 1 and 0, I think the free version does this to make people buy the pro version of SQLite Editor.
SQLite Editor and all the other one's I tryed for free only have a check mark, they will not let you edit the line yourself. so you will end up with a true or false instead of a 1, or 0
I figured I would edit the file On Windows 7 with a free editor...
SQLiteDatabaseBrowserPortable_3.8.0_English.paf.exe (toss is in Google you'll find it...)
When I edited VIA SQLiteDatabaseBrowserPortable_3.8.0_English.paf.exe I changed the Authtype and the sim slot to 0 instead of -1
It changed everything I asked it to.
Phone boot's up as normal and works fine.
When I go back to my APN settings it's still greyed out, Phone works #1 tho. I got 4g net and can do sms/mms.
Does anyone know whats going on with this? Why can' I ungrey my APN menu in lolipop or jasmine when I have root?
BTW if your gonna try to edit ur APN Just keep a copy of your /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db on ur PC, if something get's mess up you can always copy it on the root of ur phone then copy to /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/ Via Root Browser or ES File Explorer (if you have root), Both are free on the play store. (They have ad's)
TIA for any help n I hope this helps someone else.
<BTW Admin's, IF this is in the wrong place please move it for me, TIA, otherwise I'll have to repost in the Verizon section, you can also remove this line>
BTW adding ,dun to apn type in the settings doesn't let wifi tether work on the SM-N900V Lollipop/root with straight talk. I tryed many ways... Jasmin works just fine for wifi tether tho...
SM-900V (Note 3 Verizon on ST) Greyed out Fix
1) backup device , I use super backup
2) use Odin from 4.4.2 to stick 5.0
3) use Arabic tool app to root 5.o lollipop
4) install/use flash fire for jasmine 6.1
----- above steps may not be ne eded----
6) boot into recovery and wipe cache and factory reset (volume up, power, home)
Keep straight talk verizon Sim card in.
7) Set up phone with no WiFi or data on. This will show you what settings ST has on server for APN.
8) After basic set up , (no Gmail account etc no Internet access) go to settings more mobile , APN.
9) Should see t he greyed out settings. Write them all down. Adding LTE as bearer at the end.
10)*important step* put phone in airplane mode and shut down.
11) pull battery and Verizon ST Sim card , keep Sim card out , put in battery start as normal.
10) ignore the no Sim card message. Say OK.
11) go to the more mobile , from settings. Mobile network will be greyed out. *important*
Turn off airplane mode by swiping down and immediately select the mobile networks sections once it's not grey. (I did it as fast as I could just in case)
12) You will see basic Verizon APN or the standard verixon internet greyed out. Select the plus on top right.
13) Now add everything you wrote down from step #9 remembering to add LTE as bearer. (Notice that the APN on/off is still greyed out but it has a green check and says LTE on or active.)
14) save APN. Note: it will not show up and it will seem like nothing has changed. Power off device and put Verizon ST Sim card in.
15) upon boot LTE should be working.
16) restore apps and other things we with super backup. I hope this works. For you. Sorry if any typos. I wrote this from the phone minutes after fixing it.
Jasmine 6.1 recommended. Mobile Hotspot active , no root loss, super user , mms, and 4G LTE all active.

So, I tried ##BRAND#.
It more than debloats your phone. It clears out ALL sprint settings including those that give you data access. However, you do gain access to APNs as long as you have MSL. I had to input all my APNs back in to get 3G to work. Still trying to figure out why 4G and LTE isn't working.
I suspect I can do a hands free activation and get my data access back by doing a master reset. ##72786# doesn't even get me a reboot, and I can't update my profile at all. The PD3 update got downloaded but there was an error along the way so the data is still there but it can't be installed even if I wanted to. I'm hoping the master reset clears this out, and then I can disable the update service with my new access.
PS... for what it's worth, I have PC5 and am not able to keep the "You are not subscribed" popup from turning it off. I suspect I can disable DSS to prevent that but my focus right now is to get LTE and 4G capability back.
I'll update as I explore more.
Edit: Seeing "Installing system update" is not what I wanted to see......
Edit2: doing a system reset fixed LTE and 4G connectivity issues... and brought back the bloatware. Fortunately, no update to PD3. I'll try again to see if I can get the data settings to stick after debloat.
Edit3: For future use just in case. For LTE replace EHRPD with LTE at location.
Name: APN2 EHRPD internet
APN: n.ispsn
MMSC: http://mms.sprintpcs.com
MM Proxy: 68.28.31.7
MM Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 120
APN Type: default, mms, dun
Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
Roaming: IPv4/IPv6
Bearer: eHRPD
Edit4: sooooo no dice. I've tried taking sim out before reboot, after reboot, master resetting it, debranding it, manually entering APNs....... nothing works. APNs greyed out. The most likely way to get this to work is to stop the activation mid way and try to modify it then.
I've also started noticing a new message appearing. Something to the effect of "Applications are locked or disabled from modification" or similar. That never happened before today.
Still going to keep fiddling with it, but I'm running out of ideas.
1 - Extract MAINROOT.zip to your adb folder.
2 - Open a Command Prompt as administrator in your adb folder.
3 - Type in step1.bat in command prompt and hit enter.
4 - You should now be in an adb shell prompt, type in run-as con and hit enter.
5 - You now have shell access and you can tweak the android system with these permissions but tweaking the barebones of the linux kernel will be impossible without a full root. Selinux is the culprit.
6 - You can use the package manager (pm) to block apps and settings command (settings) in this adb shell prompt to tweak the workings of android or use the activity manager to access the hidden sprint and lg menus to change APNs and tweak CDMA radio control.
7 - In the adb shell prompt type in pm list packages and hit enter.
8 - From the list of packages find one that has system activities we'd be looking to access and tweak such as com.lge.hiddenmenu.
9 - Type in dumpsys package com.lge.hiddenmenu and hit enter and in the list you will see activities which can be started, such as com.lge.hiddenmenu/.Power.TherDaeMitigation.
10 - Type in am start -n com.lge.hiddenmenu/.Power.TherDaeMitigation to start the activity.
11 - You'll want to disable thermal mitigation to boost the raw performance of the phone.
12 - Repeat steps 7 -10 to access any activity you find interesting and wish to tweak.
13 - Hint : am start -n com.lge.SprintHiddenMenu/.iot.IotHiddenMenuMain is a good one many people were hoping to access.
Thanks to @anthonykb. He was on ZV6 firmware version.
I no longer have a stylo 2 so I am limited in what help I can provide - I just asked @anthonykb for permission to post this guide here because I knew how much I wanted to do this when I did have it
This method may also work on other phones such as LG X Power (someone care to try?)
It also might open a path to find a way for permanent root for those on firmware higher than ZV3?...
Can i add GSM apns with this? I have a LG Stylo 2 LS775 ZV6

ask @anthonykb he will know more than me
Hi.
I'd appreciate your input on my situation - unlocked Boost LG ls775a on Android 7, Z8, - I have SPC code, I have access to h*n menu.
T-Mobile SIM - only LTE mode works. I can send SMS or browse internet, but regular call does not work. If I press call #, - the phone permanently attempts to call, no error, - you can switch to other apps. T-Mobile Fast APN.
I tried to turn on VoLTE RF in h*n menu, but no luck.
I believe the phone might be still configured to route calls thru CDMA (Boost legacy). Can you give me general approach on how to de-couple from CDMA or any other ideas to make regular calls work?
Also, if I switch from LTE mode, say, to GSM/WCDMA auto, - nothing works at all (no calls, no internet, SMS - not attempted).
Next, I tried FreedomPop SIM (for ATT). FreedomPop registers thru WiFi. Then I turn off WiFi. In LTE mode - no internet, no calls (in FreedomPop calls routed thru Internet) are possible.
I read somewhere on XDA forums, that ATT doesnt allow LTE if MIED is not registered with them, so not registered phones work on slower-than-LTE protocol/speeds. Other phone works with FreedomPop, H+ is displayed next to connection quality bars, and ATT is displayed as network. Does it mean I need WCDMA working on the phone, and it somehow doesnt work?
I have menu similar to this t=2022763
Edit APN
Hello. I'm from Ukraine. I need your help. I have a phone LG G Stylo LS770 android 6.0. In it, the network of the Ukrainian mobile operator is working, you can call. But the Internet does not work. The APN settings can not be changed. How can this be remedied? Thank you for the information.
