Hey guys,
I am sure this is a topic that has come up in the past, so bear with me.
i recently got a sprint HTC hero(converted by a friend from an iphone)
i hooked it up to my pc and i can't get HTC sync or windows to recognize my phone due to the drivers bug. Windows will only recognize it as a storage device.
I am currently running Windows 7 64 home edition.
i tried the solution posted on the unlocker but have had no luck.
(new user won't let me post link lol)
any help would be great
Thanks!
After posting the above post, i decided to rework everything...

Indeed,... Let others know how to solve the issue.
Hey guys sorry it took so long for the reply, I was dealing with a family crisis and hadn't had much time to do anything.
you will have to find your sources for Sync and the drivers because i can't post links in the forum.
This is how I solved my problem:
1.Download latest specialized sync tool from HTC, namely HTC Sync 2.04 from HTC
2. Install the downloaded program on the computer. At this moment, your computer still won't recognize the HTC Hero.
3. Manually update the HTC drivers from Windows 7, using the Windows Vista drivers
by installing HTC Sync software on a machine running Windows Vista and then copying the drivers (namely androidusb.cat, androidusb.inf, androidusb.sys, htcrndis.cat, htcrndis.inf and WdfCoInstaller01007.dll in HTC Drivers folder) over to the Windows 7 machine. or you can manually download the drivers from someplace like theunlockr.
4.Extract the driver into a folder. For example, %SystemDrive%:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Vista_x64 (for the Windows 7 64-bit) or %SystemDrive%:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Vista_x86 (for the Windows 7 32-bit) accordingly.
5.open devices and printers
6. right click your android phone and choose 'properties'
7. go to the "hardware" tab and again select "Properties"
8.on the general tab click"Change Settings"
9. Go to "driver" tab
10. Click "update Driver"
11. The window that pops up will ask how you want to find the driver. Be sure to select the option that allows you to browse your computer for the driver.
12. Navigate to where you saved and unzipped the driver.
13. reconnect phone
now if everything went well HTC sync should recognize your phone.
now if this doesn't work msg me and i will try and help you to the best of my abilities
I know this is a rather old post...but I have recently just switched back to the Hero after taking a trip to webOS land...I have followed these instructions to the letter, but my phone still does not show up in Devices and Printers...Do I need to be using exactly the version of HTC Sync mentioned here, or should newer versions work as well?
Also, in other places I have read, it mentions that the Hero should pop-up a notification asking to allow a connection to the computer or something...I haven't seen this...is there somewhere in an app setting that I may need to change a default value?
So,
-I just connected my S2 into my PC (windows 7 ultimate 64bit) and it said "CDC Serial - No Driver Found." Where can i download it?
-Every phone iv bought before i get a CD with it to install the software onto my PC.. what software do i need for the S2?
-I want to drag and drop some .APK files (apps) but dont know where to.
Hope you can help me... (this is my first android phone)
Thanks!
Hi.
You don't need to use USB. Connect your phone to WiFi and open Kies Air on your phone. Type the URL it gives you into your PC's browser and you can upload/download straight to your phone! Click File explorer in the browser for a complete view.
Hi. Just to samsung site, downloads, program name is 'Kies'.

Thanks.
I installed ASTRO File Manager and installed the app =)
I think this thread is running its course. We're not here to help you install pirated apps. This time is a warning. We don't want to know about it. Go buy them from the market, or via paypal.
The question was valid, but XDA is a developer site. Pay for apps, or use a free version with ads.
That is all. Thread closed before we get the old "omg it's not warez" flame-war...

Stay calm bro. There is absolutely nothing wrong with your Shift. No need to contact HTC for now.
1. The USB extension kit has nothing to do with your original issue - Wi-Fi
2. Have you enabled Wi-fi. You know how to do this? Hit the Shift Control Centre button and then enable wifi from there.....
3. You need to install drivers
4. If all else fail start all over.
5. To re-install Windows Vista is piece of cake. Hit FN+F3 when the Shift is re-starting and you will be re-installing Vista in seconds.
6. But... Dont panic! Installing Windows 7, back to Vista, then off to 7 again and even back will not damage your device in any way.
7. Forget about the HTC people and their warranty bull****. As soon as you re-install Vista the device will be exactly the way it left the factory.....
8. You are in the right forum where the xda Community will assist you for as long as you are in need....
9. Dont Panic!!!!!

The only K1 Ideapad sync software Lenovo is offering now requires Windows 7 (basically throwing me and millions of other Windows XP users over a cliff) so forgive me if I sound a little paranoid . . . I need LETOOLS in some form of permanent file so I no longer have to be at the mercy of Lenovo.
I have no idea if this is a Windows program -or- a Google Play live install that runs on my K1 Ideapad, I just know that if I don't nail down a hard copy of it somewhere it's apparent Lenovo doesn't give a good goddamn about me and perfectly content to watch me go begging. Please, could someone help me? If it isn't too big, could someone . . . I don't know, post it here? offer it on another site?
And again, I've never manually installed a program to my K1. If LETOOLS is an Android program I'll need help understanding how to get it into my Ideapad! Thanks guys. Just really infuriating . . .

Try this link
Hey rurocking, thank you for that link. Could you help me hunt down two more files that I need which are apparently not components of LETOOLS? They are:
LETOOLS.APK
LENOVO MOBILE DEVICE DRIVERS
I was certain the apk would be packed in the LETOOLS download but I can't find it anywhere. And I give up trying to locate the "Lenovo Mobile Device Drivers" that LETOOLS is prompting me I have to have installed before LET can proceed to install. What a nightmare! :cyclops: Help!

Here's where to find the download. I would post the link for you, but i'm facing restrictions based on not having ever posted anything on this website.
Google "Lenovo Support Downloads page"
In the next menu, select IdeaPad K Series Tablet, followed by All Machine Types, then scroll down to Windows 7.
Under the Software, You will see Synchronization Software for Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - IdeaPad Tablet K1.
to find the letools.apk, use 7zip and extract the following \LeTools_MultiLang_x86_x64_Full_setup_20320.exe\LeTools_MultiLang.msi\contents.cab\

yes my man worked for me thankyou
So I have a HP pavilion x2 10 detachable pc that has been nothing less then a pain in the grass its a lollipop IMG and it'll boot off USB i can get it going but there is no audio and after installation and I take USB out I get a kernel panic it won't let me run fsck it says my fstab file is missing (I can write that myself) but what the hell is going on here? There isn't even adb so its not like I can logcat this I'm bloody stumped
So just find its stock rom and reflash it.....there's nothing you can do ....by the way try to copy-paste adb folder and vold.fstab from any android device...hope this helps but as far as drivers are concerns i guess it is blown and gone case and you have no choice but to reflash or put in service centres....or contact tech support
Its not a actual android or came stock w win 8 I'm trying to convert it
Ive got it.so it is win 8 loaded and you want to use it as android tab.....well you can download the AOSP(Android Open Source Project) stock nexus or any sort of firmware from internet (github, android .com or at any other site) and dont forget to check android version and the SHA1 & MD5 values...........go download it...probably it is .iso or .img file like the way u download in android.........put it ,install or flash it....i guess this helps.or if you have any PC,download change my software android edition...... And connect that tab to PC(ensure rooted and fastboot unlock to prevent any sort of mishap and back it up..) Then tap to start...it will verify the device and then starts downloading os and driver then tab gets reboot and voila.......... ( update :::: visit http://www.android-x86.org/download and download any one of the version.... Here x86 is for the windows ...if it runs windows then any of them will be compatible......)
But DON'T FORGET TO DOWNLOAD PATCH FILES(IF ANY) AND READ THE .PDF AT END CAREFULLY IN ORDER TO ATTEMPT THIS. Hope this help but dont forget to backup and factory reset the device
