But
Samsung = 2 X Google
Equation doesn't make any sense

They will but we need nice number of supporters.
From the petition page:
"For example, they told last year that they will start rolling out update for their Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6/edge in December 2015 but it got delayed to Jan 2016 and then to Feb 2016."
Where and when did Samsung make any official commitment around dates for updates?
It simple: they're under absolutely no obligation to provide you with any updates whatsoever. If you don't like the fact that they seem to be slow to update their phones to the latest version of Android, just STOP BUYING THEIR PHONES.
We just need google to collab with sony this will be the end of samsung
Omg.. just buy a different phone and go on with your day. It's just a phone.
Samsung already got sued for their update policy but samsung won the trial

You guys seem to be missing the point. I'm not as annoyed at some about these updates but it is a shame that we are not given these updates in a timely manner and if people who spend there hard earned money on one of if not the most expensive Android smartphone lines on the market are not satisfied, who are we to tell them not to speak up about it. Telling people to just shut up and deal with it or go find something else to me is a joke. After I'm finished here why don't I go and tell my children not to stand up for what they believe in because it's easier.
Thank you those who are supporting.

I rather get a bugfree smooth upgrade than an early buggy one (like we got with 511)
I wouldn't bother. Updates aren't needed to use a phone. If they're not fast enough, go to Nexus or LG or HTC.
The only problem on S6 that needed an update was RAM management, but this is a minor annoyance certainly not a deal breaker.
A petition with "Shamesung" in the title will get no where as it is immature, although a petition will get no where anyway. Samsung sell enough phones, and the majority of their users are more than happy.

Well apparently the End of September has come and gone. So my questions is this, When will we get any update? I say end of October for the minor update and November for 2.2. Oh and guess what, T-Mobile UK missed their deadline for 2.2:
http://phandroid.com/2010/09/30/t-mobile-uk-misses-end-of-the-month-window-for-galaxy-s-froyo/
Amazing phone Samsung. ..yet this is just another thread of disappointment.
yep,
Either Samsung, Tmobile, or both really let us down
I say Samsung..since it's not their first time...but then again T-mobile don't have a good history either...looks like both.
Why blame everything on Samsung? Give me one good helluva reason. While they should probably deserve partial blame, T-Mobile makes the final call. If T-Mobile says no, then we don't get the update. Simple. Oh, one more thing, T-Mobile UK != T-Mobile USA.
I have no idea what the hell is going on with T-Mobile on releasing updates, but if it's quality over speed, then I will gladly wait unlike most people.
I'm angry at T-Mobile for not giving us any of the possible updates that Samsung made. It makes no since that the Vibrant has been out the longest in the states and hasn't had a single OTA.
I blame Samsung for lack of Froyo. If they can make it run on the tab, they can make it run on the phones. I can't be mad a T-Mobile for that considering no Galaxy S phone has an official Froyo update on it yet.
I wonder what's taking so long, the Tab is basically an 'oversized' Galaxy S (relatively speaking here). If it is working on the Tab it shouldn't take much to port it to the phones.
unless of course, it is held out on purpose so it would not cannibalize the sales of the Tab. Purely my guess.
Its not so bad that its late, its that T Mobile and Samsung haven't kept us updated. A small status or progress update would go a long way.

Second that
Do you not think them saying an OTA will be available soon, is keeping you posted? It was probably pushed back after that clusterfuck of an OTA for the Captivate.
I believe Samsung is full responsible of this situation.
Is not a secret that Samsung lacks on software support. Take the European Galaxy S the unlocked version. The devices came months before the Vibrant in the US and suffers the same stupid TouchWiz bugs and never got an update...
I believe we will be lucky if we see Froyo when Android 3.0 is available. (of course whoever still has a Vibrant by then).
For me that was my first and probably last Samsung device. Its a nice device but FULL of bugs with no a single sign of support... A complete let down for this high class hardware.

Samsung has managed to bork every single update for every US Galaxy S device. Even when they hit the deadline with the Captivate, it didn't fix the issue everyone wanted it to fix. Then, they release the update on other networks, only to tell people "Whatever you do - DON'T download this!". It's a joke.
Guys, relax! Samsung has been telling us that the update is coming "soon" for the past two months, so it's coming "soon"! In other news, the unemployment rates will go down to their normal levels "soon" as well!
/sarcasm
Yeah, its disappointing that the update has taken so long, but nothing to cry over yet imo.

This is what EVERYONE who had bought a Beyond, or other Samsung phones kept saying...
Basically that Samsung either breaks their promises, or doesn't deliver on them until way late.
I am going to start looking for a new device. This 2.1 phone should hold me over until the 3.0/Gingerbread devices start coming out.
I am not upset enough to avoid Samsung in the future, but HTC and Motorola will be my first choices.

A similar attempt made by Spica owners for 2.2 didn't work too. Samsung gives only one update per device, excluding Galaxy S series.
They have a contact with google to keep their devices 18 (i think) months up to date if their hardware can handle it. I mailed samsung about this and they said the g3 has a hardware limitation!
They just have to take a look at here and see there's no limitation!

There IS NO hardware limitation!! The deal was made when sgs2 came up and the deal was ONLY for new devices such as sgs2, ace, gio, mini and so on.
And IMO trying to ask for update for sg3 is NOT going to happen... Why wont you all accept it? Samsung wont give us an update because they stopped making g3 AND g3 is not bringing any money to samsung, gio, ace and mini are now bringing money to samsung so they have support! Its called business... Now dont say that it worked with HTC because HTC is NOT samsung! And dont start hating me for this, its just the truth and if you cant handle it then go buy an HTC!!!

Manufacturers usually don't announce something and take it away. If they don't want to offer something or aren't sure they just say it's "under consideration." For months sometimes. In addition the U.S. carriers have all published a list of Samsung devices to be updated and all the G-Tabs other than the original 7" are on it. If Samsung was just kidding I'd doubt they'd take the U.S. carriers down with them.

So true. I've had the same experience with different manufacturers, and they are pretty much the same, depending on which device you choose. As soon as they have new products on the market, they tend to put other products on the backburner. Sad but true. Only thing you can do to create a difference, is complaining to the manufacturers again and again, and not on forums.. that want do nothing for nobody..
Still put my two cents in Samsung.. so we can get a working camera

R2142
If only it would please them to stop competing with LG for the Delayed Update Award, we'd be in business.
What freaks me out is we still havent seen a single leak.. while its by far the most popular 1st gen Android tablet.
The only reason I see for this is "a" build exists, it isnt being tested anywhere but in Samsung very own labs;
Not a single carrier or anything close to it has yet got to test it on its network. =(
I dont see it poping up on my tab overnight even if Bell says I should be hopefull. This is going to be a long summer.
Guys, you'll get your update, the TAB 10.1 is a popular device and all the 2011 line got the update or is getting it...
See my situation :
- My Tab 10.1v wil NEVER get updated.
- My EU Atrix will probably NEVER get updated while the US will get the update...late 2012.
- My wife's Ray got the update : it's filled with bugs, features that are not activated (auto light, auto flash) and it's super slow although the device is barely less powerful than the Nexus S.
So shut up, spoiled kids...
I hope Samsung will not act like Motorola.

Still not sufficient. A 650€ flagship should be supported more than 2 years and 2 poor versions. Ics & JB...
Or at least let the community do their job...
I totally agree, and don't understand the attitude of some people here... I didn't buy the phone just to replace it at the end of contract. It's still working perfect and I don't see the need for a replacement. Samsung should just let the community handle the updates if they are to lazy to do it themselves.
S2 till it dies, and when it does, another s2.
Fu*k it, I'll buy a couple s2 when they get 300 bucks cheap here (It's still at 600 bucks unbranded, 400 branded, crazy).

I really wanna see 5.0 and what it's all about, I'm somewhat skeptical on the gigant upgrade that would represent against JB.
If a couple of devs make it work with no issues on their ROMs I don't see why we can't lobby up and ask for that update.
I mean, samsung devs vs xda devs...I'm sticking with our troops.

Yes, if Samsung would now release all the sources (required by the license) we could keep upgrading our devices on our own. The S2 community has done a fabulous job, and we would get some disaffected devs back if we had all the sources. This is still a great phone. I'd hazard to say that there aren't many (any?) other 2 year old phones that still run this well on the "latest" software. I agree it might be still going strong in 4 years. Due to Samsung's intransigence however I think my next has to be Nexus. But it's hard to justify giving this up. Despite a faded screen, and reduced capacity of the battery, it still screams smoothly!

If you know the history of Samsung, you shouldn't expect anything this year.
Samsung sells the most phones out of any other manufacturer in the US, and somehow is the WORST WHEN it comes to updates. If there's no unlocked bootloader for the note 7 by the time the LG V20 is released, I'll be jumping ship to LG (and getting the nexus 6p or 2016 nexus as my side chick) LG' s are the only ones with a camera close to as good as Samsung's. And they all have unlockable bootloaders. If Samsung didn't start locking down their bootloaders I wouldn't mind the unexcusably horrendous wait times for software updates. They have a superior product for the most part. But they hardly give a craps about the customer. Just my opinion.

I got mine alittle late in the game since they didnt release it in Europe. I would get the note 7 but, that curve screen is a no go for me. I have the S7 and trying to get a good screen protector for its slightly curved screen is hard to come by.
Anyways, I still think Samsung Flagship are the best among all smartphones and will continue to use their device.

I agree with your view, but Samsung might argue it that they care MORE for their customers and thus have locked the devices - to save the ignorant public from themselves- since most folks only know enough to come here, create a new login (since they forgot the old one made since the last device they rooted [or bricked]), then search for rooting instructions until they find something layman enough to follow, and finally root (or brick) their device smh lol i don't agree with that view but i can sooooooo hear some Samsung PR pencil pusher explaining it smh
