Hi,
I'm having a problem with updating my note 3 ...I keep getting a notification saying can't update . This device is modified.
The device was rooted but I removed the root today to finally update the device but even after unrooting im still getting this message ....YOUR DEVICE HAS BEEN MODIFIED, NO SOFTWARE UPDATES ARE AVAILABLE.
i used root checker and it says the device is not rooted and my knox is valid, Then i tried updating in safe mode ( with and without sd) but still getting the same message, thanks in advance.
Try to update it via samsung kies
If it fails , Go to sammobile and download your phone firmware and flash it via Odin
Search google to know how to make that

Sorry if im posting a tread that has already been up but I am new to the Android world and need help. I recently got a Galaxy S4 and after a month I rooted the phone. I didn't do much but use the Root for freedom only and then found out that I can't get OTA updates since my device is modified. So i unrooted my phone and tried to do a software update and it still says my phone has been modified. therefore i backed up all my data and did a factory reset. as soon as the factory reset was done the first thing i did was check for a system update and it still says my phone is modified and can't receive any updates. I am so confused and need help. I really want to be able to get software updates and even if there is none currently i still wish to receive them in the future. someone please help. and sorry if i reposted a thread.

I am quiet a noob at rooting and using odin. Well, my problem is i tried to unroot using odin and I was flashing L720VPUFNAE_L720SPTFNAE_SPR using PDA but then my phone accidentally disconnected and now I cannot flash that..I am really scared I soft bricked my phone. Kies will not download due to some stupid errors..I REALLY NEED HELP. I rooted and unrooted and unflashed and flashed numerous times.. But now it's not letting me do the basic PDA flash. I was flashing the stock rom. I don't mess with roms they are unstable and buggy at least cyanogen was. I fixed that error easy but now I am stuck in "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery in kies & try again". I cannot download kies and when I do it asks to delete previous versions and then fails and asks the same thing a million times, stupid kies. Well, I can get in download mode without a problem I just don't know what I would need to do now. I am kinda trippy. MY phone an fyi is running 4.4.2 Kitkat if that matters.

Uninstall kies from your pc if you have it installed already. All you need is latest Samsung USB drivers. You can find them on google and after that strictly follow the below guide :-

Please make sure you have all the necessary files required to flash a new firmware according to the model of your phone. The guide above is just for helping you follow the right steps !

Okay, I got that..I'll just find kies and wipe it X)
Also, make sure you are using a newer version of Odin while flashing the new Stock Tar files. Recommended is odin 3.07 or 3.09 for fewer problems.

Don't think it will work , you need root for s health because knox is tripped but then you don't get any ota update.

Sorry for late reply, you can try this
Download Samsung drivers for PC from this link, and install them.
http://developer.samsung.com/board/download.do?bdId=T000000117&attachId=0000000003
Download Smart Switch for PC from this link, and install it.
http://www.samsung.com/global/download/smartswitchwin
Restart the PC and connect your S7 Edge to the PC.
Open Smart Switch on the PC, click "more" and "emergency software recovery and initialization".
Follow the instructions to get your S7 Edge back to stock state (all settings and data will be erased, so make sure to backup your data, including data in the internal storage, e.g. photos).

Thanks for your help
I'll do it and let you know the result
Ok - haven't seen this problem anywhere - all I see are posts and articles regarding how to get it off the Samsung screen during boot... Which is a Factory Data Reset... I have to FDR my phone daily.. not running anything custom (accept this was originally a Rent-A-Center phone - and I know they have a special system built in to kill the phone if its not paid for etc... Was paid off well over a year ago)
How do I fix this?? Do I have to root and install a custom ROM?? Do I have to do something else? Having to FDR every day, and sometimes twice is becoming rather annoying.

Do I have to use KIES for that, or is there a better way to do it? I have not flashed anything before... I know it is a little different than installing an OS on a computer.

Nope, you just download Odin (PC software) and download stock firmware (search in Sammobile or Updato) and look for a tutorial on how to flash software through Odin and you're all set

Ok - Update..
I have searched both Updato and Sammobile - nothing but European and otherwise non-USA Firmware - I also cannot get Odin - or frankly Kies to work either... Kies does not find the device, and Odin acts like it is there, but nothing I put in it is working..
CWM Recovery? Nada... Doesnt do anything through Odin - just stares at me -
ADB and FB? They briefly flash on my PC screen and vanish - no options to do anything... I have updated the Samsung USB drivers 4 times... So I am not sure what to do next..
Thanks for the help so far!

What's your phone's model? It doesn't have to be carrier-specific to be able to flash it.
Also, try TWRP instead of CWM recovery, devs seem to prefer TWRP overall.
SM-N900T is the model number.. I'll give TWRP a shot next. Maybe I'll have better luck with it.
Could the RAC software be putting a wall up that I can't get through? I bricked a phone I was getting through them once because I tried to update Android through Kies (on an S5) and discovered they don't use stock ROM's with their phones.

I've got a N900T and I've found software in both Sammobile and Updato, I don't know why you're not finding anything (N900T is supposed to be T-Mobile's variant)
Anyway, I would try out the following tutorial: Link
I found it very useful when I wanted to completely flash my phone clean and root.
I am not sure about what roadblocks you could have of this phone being a RAC phone, but if you still want to give it a try I'd suggest you try out the tutorial I showed you
