Hey guys,
Coming from lollipop I was used to get notifications that pop up or heads up and now I don't get any of that. Is that normal? Does anybody else have pop-ups or heads up notifications?
Example whatsapp or anything else? All I get is the icon on the top.

I get popup notifications with Hangouts & the stock messaging app. AT&T S7E. Have been using it a lot to quickly reply to messages.

I seem to only get messages. Both Gmail and my other email (cloudmagic) don't have notification popups regardless of the settings. I installed HeadsUp to make them work.

Good to know. I had to enable vibrations on whatsapp to get heads up working for that.

Is there a way to disable to heads up notifications?

Actually I had to check the preview box as well. Thanks.
Thanks! That was bugging me as well. It just said " New Message" everytime
Could you point out how to get to that screen as I'm not seeing it. Thanks

Thanks! I'm still learning stuff lol
I just lol'd pretty hard from the last couple if posts in this thread
There is no way to get it to display just the name of the person messaging you without also previewing the message is there?
Is there any way of turning it off completely? I don't want a crappy looking banner.

Look for 'Preview Message' under the Notification Settings in the Messaging Settings menu.

No, that just allows it to display the first few words of the message if it's enabled. Even with that disabled the big banner still appears on the lockscreen stating I've got a new message. I want to stop it appearing at all.

Once in the Message app: SETTINGS -> Notification settings -> Notifications (uncheck)
This is just a guess though... I haven't received a text message yet to verify, haha. But it's worth a shot.
That'll stop you getting ANY notification at all though, no message tone, no unread count, etc. I still want that to work, I just want to stop it coming up on the lockscreen too!
This screenshot shows what I'm wanting to disable. I just want to stop this ugly banner appearing in place of my regular widget on the lockscreen when I get a text.

Hello Nexus 4 users.
I just noticed this counter in my default Messaging client. It changes from time to time when I receive or send text messages. Am I missing some knowledge?

Thank you!
It's the unread message count.

That is the number of unread messages.
In your screenshot there are two unread messages so the counter shows 2

Yeah I thought that as well. But the unread messages keep being unread. If I press them and go back, it still counts as an unread one. Not sure if I'm doing some monkey business?

My guess is that you're doing it way too fast. Try to stay at message for a while, 'read' it and then it should mark it read.
Thanks for the answers! Turns out I'm kinda stupid . I thought that the conversations with a grey look were unread, and the white ones were read. I had a few white ones in the buttom, so I pressed them and now it's working as intended. I hope I gave you a great laugh!
Thank you for the input anyway.
I noticed that when the phone is charging, the LED doesn't show notifications. Is there any way to change this? It's kind of annoying to get i.e. a whatsapp message and not see it until you turn on the phone.

Ah, thank you. For some reason I didn't recognize that this would allow normal notifications to display.

70M of ram just to show notifications? Meh.
Xposed led control mod is the best alternative to lightflow. Easy on the memory, and runs as service only.

70 mb isn't going to affect the performance of your phone at all. It's also very customisable and straight out awesome. I've never seem the phone with any less than 200 mb free ram even under the heaviest loads.

Please see screenshot. What is the icon at the top between the Bluetooth icon and the alarm clock icon? I tried to draw a little arrow to point it out.

Drop down menu from the top, NFC switch should be there

I have many homescreen screen shots to verify it was never on before today or at least the icon was never there.

You must of accidentally turned it on then.
I leave it on as I have NFC stickers to automate tasks. You can hide status bar icons with System UI Tuner from the Play Store after using a few adb commands.
