When I drag my brightness slider to a diffrent position it doesn't remember the value, after waiting or turning my screen off and back on it always resets back to 50%.
Do more people experience this issue or is it just me?

Try to set it to 100 %, then restart the phone. Worked for me.
I think it`s just the way it works now, they changed it..it`s showing the "right now" brightness instead of always having the same position even if there is diffrences in the brightness.

If I lock my phone, sometimes it won't unlock. It essentially just shuts down. I've reinstalled 2.2 once, and just went to 2.4 last night. When this happens, I have to pull the batter and restart. And yes, it does this with both versions. I wiped cache, etc upon installing the ROM as well.

When you say it won't unlock...is haptic feed buggy and it seems unresponsive and sporadic?

Not really, seems normal to me. Should I try turning it off, and see if that fixes it?
By any chance, would you happen to be using setcpu? I ask because I have noticed this happening on any rom I use, but changing my setcpu values for when the screen is off has pretty much solved it.

I've been using setcpu with every setup on this device and haven't ran into any problems. Only problem I would see with this, is if you set the levels way to low...that will induce locking up the system.
Ok, downloaded setcpu, what specs should I put it at?

IMHO...that's really low.
Where do I set it for screen off? All I have are two sliders?

you have to go under the profiles tab and enable then you can set different profiles.
Still doing the same deal. SetCPU is at 400-800 during screen off. Haptic feedback is off.
Any ideas?
I'm not even running SetCPU and I get this happening.
Anyone have any more suggestions? It's not a huge deal, but it sucks watching my battery drop 10% every time I have to pull the battery and reboot.
I believe that the light sensors are broken in GB (JVK,JVA,JVB,JVH) all
anyone noticed this?
it goes only from 5 to 5000 if you want to make sure you can use apps such as phone tester to check it.
This is an important problem because it affects the auto brightness settings and other screen settings.
if you tick auto brightness what happens is it increase/decrease dramatically not gradually is it was in Froyo.
Any ideas/fixes ?

Yeah, there's definitely something up with it in JVB, had to switch off auto-brightness, it was driving me nuts while reading or gaming, I noticed it change many times for no reason while I had the phone left down and wasn't using it too. I leave it on 25% now but it would be nice to be able to use it again.

I believe the problem was present in SGS II but the latest firmware (I9100XEKE2) fixed it if someone knows how to port it...
mine goes from 10 to 160 in cm7 but its a jump not gradual. im on cm7 nightly 2.3.4
i hope this will be fixed soon!

I noticed this in JVK but since putting on JVO, I have not had this problem and compass seems better too.
For the past few days, I noticed that my screen was very bright in dark conditions when checked on Auto-Brightness, so I would uncheck and recheck the box and it worked fine for a few hours until I had to repeat that step
Now, when I have it checked, the screen is extremely dim and not adjusting at all to brightness levels.
As a result, I have to manually adjust it.
Anyone else notice this weird phenomenon?

Try LUX application.
I am not satisfied by the original auto brightness function.
LUX works fine. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53079469)

just keep in mind the application is not for free (although it is cheap), and it consumes around 5 Mb's from the RAM.
Thanks,
When we reduce the screen brightness to the lowest the screen goes dark completely! We cant see anything!
Again we need to restart and the screen stays on for just 3-4 seconds!
In that 3-4 seconds we need to swiftly increase the brightness or else it ll get off again !
Den we need to restart and try again!
It happens nly if adaptive brightness is on!

You can resolve it by turning off color enhancement in the display option. Its a software issue. If you want to view your screen which is completly dark now, go to a bright place and hold the mobile.. It will be visible.. Then change the settings.
Yeah ?
Is there a way to turn off screen dimming at 5%. In some situations (like outside) I can't see anything. Obviously you can turn the brightness back up. But I want to keep it from turning it down automatically
Use macrodroid to setup a macro

Auto brightness is the devil lol. Ive never used it and it has always been disabled. Do you have another solution to keep brightness from reducing to ZERO when phone reached 5%

No. This has been an issue on every LG device I've ever owned. I took basicreece advice and set a macro. Just finished testing it out and it works. Apparently after further digging this is a firmware limitation and there is no way to prevent this from happening without flashing another rom. Unfortunately I have the Sprint variant so my options are limited. Probably swap it out for my essential phone.. just sucks. This basic feature is so annoying. Especially when outside

I've used tasker to create a profile that below a value of 700 in light detection it turns off the "AutoBrightness" and uses a fixed table. Above that the "AutoBrightness" is switched back on.
You can long press on profile, then use impost to get it into tasker.
