I moved many of my apps to my SD card, and my tablet stopped recognizing some of them. Over half of them still work, but others register as not installed both in the Play Store and on the home screen. If I go to the Play Store and try to reinstall the apps, the Play Store crashes. They show up in the Application manager as 0 B apps, listed with names starting with "com." These apps worked for a while, and one day they stopped. I have tried formatting my SD card (exFAT) and replacing everything, but, while most apps still work, the ones that were not working still do not.
My tablet is not currently rooted, though it was rooted when I was on KitKat. I can provide screenshots of mounted SD card vs unmounted SD card if necessary.

Installed CM7.2 MiRaGe along with Go Launcher EX onto the eMMC recently and have a few questions.
Why do some apps require a SD card inorder to function even though the app itself installed on the internal storage (evernote, nook for android, etc)? If you open those apps, it will give an error saying it requires a SD card, I had to insert one and reboot inorder to use the app. looks like some directories were created on the sd card afterward so I assume some apps require to cache to it? I plan on having multiple cards so I can store movies on them. will I be able to hotswap the sd cards (meaning not having to power off or reboot)?
When I installed CM7.2, I just followed the directions within the thread. Should I have changed the partitions at all on the internal storage? any other tweaks do people usually make?

If you don't want to use an SD card there is a setting in CM7 just for that purpose. Many apps will not run without one. Go to settings, cyanogenmod settings, apps, and select use internal storage. It swaps emmc and sdcard. It fools apps into using your emmc media partition as 'sdcard'. And your real SD shows up as 'emmc' so you can hot swap and get your movies.
I followed these directions perfectly and the links2SD app is saying that all my subsequent apps are being "linked to SD card" after installation. However, my internal memory is filling up just the same way as without this app. Furhtermore, I don't see anything changing on my external SD card. Does this app not work on the S4? I've tried other solutions to move apps to SD card prior to this and none of them seemed to work either.
Samsung has built in apps to sd, just go into app manager and move over the apps that are allowed to be moved. Not all can be moved, but most of the big apps can. Its better than nothing.
Well i think my SD Card is acting strangely since i did the new marshmallow update
When i was still running with 5.1.1 Lollipop i was able to move all apps to sd card with no problems at all,
i did a factory reset to get rid of the root and then updated to marshmallow 6.0.1 and at first i could move apps to sd card normally like i used to do with the lollipop and everything was fine until i restarted the phone, when the phone restarted all apps that were on sd card were greyed out with a small sd card icon bellow each one and when i tap on it it says app not probably installed i knew this was a common problem and leaving the phone for a few minutes would restore it but i left my phone unused for 3 hours and apps remained greyed out so i deleted them and redownloaded them again for play store but this time when i tried to move them it would say not enough space on sd card although there is 6 gbs of free space i thought maybe some leftovers from those apps still remained so i formatted my sd card 2 time once with the android and another time from my laptop ...nothing changed still cant move apps to sd card ...and on plus on that when i connect my phone to my laptop it only reads the internal storage it doesnt show the sd card as if it isnt there
any suggestions?? Any help would be appreciated and sorry for my bad English

This has been effected by the new security feature on Android 6.0.1 firmware so as not to alter app system files. You should also check your SD file system (format) for compatibility. Also if your are running a custom kernel, Android security patch prohibits non-trusted apps from making changes to to execute as system files outside the inbuilt storage
Hi
OK, so this is my question: I just installed LineageOS 15.0 on my XT1685 . And when I was using the stock ROM (N), I used my SD card to store pictures, videos, etc. After installing O, this option seemed to have disappeared for some reason. First, I couldn't get to choose save location from the stock camera app that came with the Gapps ( https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634797336 ). Then I tried installing Open Camera, but then I got this issue with not being able to write to the SD card (see attachment).
At this point my SD card was formatted as "portable". And I just could NOT get Oreo to understand that I wanted to use it as a default for storing pictures and video. After a while I gave up, and re-formatted as "internal". Which basicly means that now the phone's storage and the external storage are kinda "integrated" in a way.. the SD has become a part of a greater whole..
Which leads me to my actual question...:
Why is it that I could not get it to work as it did on Nougat - as portable, basicly..
And also; how to get around this?
Just to be clear, this is a general Android question (I think), NOT a question specific to the Lineage ROM (which is awesome btw, imo!)
Thanks,
- H
I have AOSP Extend Oreo on my g5+. I put open camera on my phone and was able to store pics on the SD card. However, it stopped working and won't store pics at all. I installed the native moto camera app, but it won't let me store pics to the SD card. I'm hoping someone can provide some assistance.
I am on stock Oreo and I currently use my SD as portable. Formatting the sd as Internal eventually led to 3 different corrupted sd cards after some time, so, if your problem is not software-related, try to stick to formatting the card as portable storage.
I only know a part of the problem, which is happening to me too: a while after restarting the phone, I open my SD card in any file manager (I have Total Commander) and it doesn't show any file but both the file manager and the system shows the Sd card's occupied and free spaces, and I've had to dismount and remount the SD card in order to be able to get to any file or folder of it, but several minutes later the files become impossible to access again.
Hello, I am using a Samsung Evo Plus 128GB card in my 32GB Xiaomi Mi A1 formatted as internal storage.
Today I wanted to do a benchmark because lately the phone is pretty slow and laggy, in particular the apps that I installed in the SD storage, so I unmonted the SD card from settings, but when I restarted the phone all my applications that were installed in the SD completely disappeared. Usually when the SD card was unmounted or not inserted these apps were displayed greyed out and after mounting the card they returned normal, but this time all apps are gone.
I tried unmounting the SD and rebooting again the phone but with no results. I noticed that now the phone doesn't show the notification with progress bar when mounting the SD but it mounts instantly. In storage settings I see used space for apps in the SD but if i tap that it says no apps installed.
The biggest problem is that if I try to install again some of the apps that were installed in the SD I can't because phone's behavior is:
-from play store: the app looks uninstalled, but pressing install results in a loop where play store continuosly download the app again and again.
-from apk files: packet manager tells that the app is already installed, and if I click update prints "app not installed" then crashes.
Can I do something to make these apps visible to the system again without wiping everything?
