When I am connected my phone (rooted Samsung galaxy ace 4 lte ) to my pc . It doesn't showing Camera /media device options. But I can use usb tethering and debugging options . Unfortunately its not a driver issue ?
Have all your drivers working properly sir, even you think that it's not a driver issue?

Hi all. Hope this is the right place to post, apologies if not. I've just rooted my Nexus 4 successfully but now when I plug my phone into my Windows 7 machine it will only show as an Android ADB Interface. This is regardless of whether it's connected as MTP or PTP. Although when I turn USB debugging ON with USB mode of PTP, my phone is correctly identified as a camera (showing up in Device Manager as an Android ADB Interface and a Portable Device). I've tried uninstalling the drivers but to no avail. Does anyone please have any ideas (or things to check)? Thanks in advance.
Thread moved to Q & A section, post in the relevant section next time.
Same issue but with the galaxy nexus.

Similar issues covered in this thread [Q]Computer won't recognize phone? hope that it helps
Hi,
This is my first Nexus device (N4), I know they have an emulated SD card, so I expected to connect it to my Win 7 PC via USB, and for the SD card directory to be shown as a file system / drive in Windows. This doesn't happen.
Phone is in MTP mode, screen isn't locked. Am I missing something here, a driver perhaps, or does this functionality no longer exist?
Thanks,
Des
You should get a Nexus 4 device along with your drives, you open that, then go to 'internal storage'
If you're not getting that, then it's probably driver related.
If it doesn't detect by USB at all, you may have a faulty device like me.
If you plug your phone into the wall with the AC adapter, does it constantly say " charging (USB)" in the battery settings?
This defect means I cannot root or charge the phone properly... It sucks..

Most likely a driver issue. When I have use the adb driver I cannot see my device as a storage device. Switching to the default driver Windows installs lets me see it but adb no longer works.
I ended up just using AirDroid to do any file transfers.
There are a few reports of the stock charger being reported as USB charging actually, so it might not be all bad.
The phone might be in MTP mode, but has it installed the MTP driver ? Check Device Manager.
On my own XP system, MTP wouldn't work for me until I turned off USB debugging.

^ This.
On XP, MTP does not work if USB Debugging is turned on. It may be the same for Windows 7 as well.
Same behavior on Windows 7, just fixed my issues. Thanks!
I got similar problem with my N4, yesterday I flashed Mahdi-ROM 2.4[1/02] then my USB stopped working. I can view files through PC, but cannot upload to phone. It says device has been disconnected, but it's still connected Turning off USB debuging didn't help.
I cannot even flash kernel uploaded through Airdroid, recovery gives error - cannot open zip file.
Edit: Nevermind, its PC problem. With other PC it works normal.
use universal naked drivers.
fastboot adb and mtp and ptp working.

After I rooted my N4 a few months ago same thing, cannot get MTP on WinXP
Works fine on my Win7 machines though, its pretty annoying
Tried ALL the fixes I could find, no go
Uninstal all drivers, reconnect N4 let Windows install drivers, it will probably be adb device drivers, then select in device manager adb device drivers update drivers and check install from specific location and on next screen check don't search!
Then you could be able to select mtp. All of this should be done with USB debugging turned off and USB connection as mtp!

Hey Buudy thanks this helps me
I have a strange problem, when connecting my new nexus 4 to a pc it is not showing up if mtp is selected. If I change mtp to ptp then it shows up as nexus 4 > internal storage > DCIM and pictures folders. When i change to mtp it is gone. Any solution guys? I have usb drivers installed and usb debugging enabled.
Edit : problem solved, it was my windows 8 problem, mods can you delete this thread pls. Thank you.
what was the fix?
Check your drivers in device manager in Windows. Somehow on my pc proper driver was only active in ptp mode, in mtp system tried to use some other Microsoft driver. Connect in mtp go to device manager and update the driver with the proper one.

I can only access photos through usb cable but not the whole entire storage...hmm...any idea?
Hi guys, I have my N4 for about a month now but since I got it I never got MTP to detect on my laptop. I was only transferring my files through PTP(camera mode) and bluetooth so far. Now I want to transfer my Band road backup and flash custom roms so that would require me to browser through the folders on the laptop.
PTP mode only works when USB debugging is ticked though. And MTP is nowhere near. When using PTP I have to manually move the files to correct folders after disconnecting the phone from pc.
I have rooted, unlocked so i think drivers are all fine right?
I thought about Wifi transfer and such but I have limited bandwidth here and only have one laptop to try.

Reinstall drivers from the Nexus 4 toolkit. Go in to device manager and see if it says "Galaxy Nexus ADB Interface" (yes Galaxy Nexus). If it does, then enable USB debugging. It will show up.
Yep, unload and reinstall the driver.

The problem for me was Windows media player, i had to install that to be able to connect my nexus 4 through MTP to my computer.
Dont know if it helps for you, but you can try it!
What os is your laptop running? if XP then search for mtp xp fix.
Got it working. yay! Thanks guys!
Today my rooted Galaxy Note 3 running Phronesis N7 port v4 ROM (Lollipop) suddenly is not showing up in Windows explorer. However, when I go to recovery mode, I can see the device in windows and browse the files without problems. The only difference is that the device shows up now in windows with the name "hlte" instead of the usual "Android phone" name.
It actually connects fine when I use "FX Explorer" app with its file sharing feature which allows me to connect via wifi with an Internet browser or any other similar windows/android browser but not in windows explorer with usb cable.
This ROM has been working great for months and I cannot think of any changes made recently.
I re-started both the PC and the phone, pull the battery, etc. to no avail.
Obviously it's not the cable (which I've anyways changed) or the drivers which they report as the 'latest' by windows, so I'm at a loss.
Any ideas ?
Thanks
Install Samsung drivers again .

I already did uninstall and re-install the drivers to no avail.
However, I did a backup and then restored in TWRP a backup from 2 weeks ago and the problem is not there so it had to be caused by an app or a setting introduced during the past two weeks .... So I restored again the backup that I did earlier and uninstalled the apps that I remember but the problem is still there.
Did you check which USB protocol you have selected, maybe you changed this by accident. Then you connect your mostly the USB setting are available by pulldown but you might need to search in settings.
All new phones using MTP protocol, you need to have installed th media player installed on windows for driver(the samsund driver will not install this). I thing it's a buggy implementation, slow, only single file tranfer and often need to reconnect your device to work.
Optional you can select PTP which esentional simulates a camera.
In some custom roms you can select the good old mass storage protocol. Which is fast, stable but need to close every app accessing internal or external storage.

Did you set debug usb in developers options? Which USB mode is selected also in developers options?

Not true at all .
OP download and run USBDEVIEW and delete the drivers/ usb port .

USB debugging is enabled and MTP mode is the mode selected. Phronesis selects MTP by default in the pulldown which is really handy rather than having to switch from charging mode every time that you connect the cable.

Not sure how you mean to delete drivers, do you mean through USBDEVIEW? or the samsung drivers through windows uninstall?
I've already uninstalled/installed them before (see post #3).
Here is what USBDEVIEW gives me:
Through USBdeview delete.

Try to switch off USB debugging, don't know why but sometimes windows drivers go wrong, especially when you use a different usb port and it tries to install them - I solve restarting pc plus a kick (stress relief) and Note3
