Weird, I have my Zagg on and it looks fine. Unless of course your talking about when the screen is off.
I'm using an XtremeGuard which I got off eBay for $2.50. It is wonderful!! It had bubbles and stuff when the screen was off when I first put it on, but EVERYTHING cleared up within 2-3 days. I used a mild soapy water to put it on, so it was kinda "rainbow" looking when the screen was lit up, but all of that has since dried up. The screen is crystal clear both on and off. If you didn't know there was a screen protector on there, you would see it. You can tell by touching it, it feels a little more grippy, which I actually like. Also it hasn't intefered with the performance of the touchscreen as well, I'm 100% satisfied with it.

Mine is still as naked as the day I bought it. Mint condition, too.

Mine looked terrible at first too, but after about a day, I guess the liquid fully dried and it didn't look cloudy anymore.
Bought a 3-pack from a Sprint store.
Don't use the anti-glare one. It significantly lowers the image quality.
It's akin games which use the film grain effect, except here you'd want the clarity instead of fancy effects.
Thank you all for your responses, I really appreciate it. I guess it only looks bad because I got a few scratches on the screen protector itself but I guess that's why you buy them in the first place. I might call to get a replacement if it gets any worse, these have a lifetime warranty.

That is exactly the reason I don't use a screen protector. They are made out of plastic and will scratch easily. The glass that is covering the LCD is made out of glass and VERY difficult to scratch. Seems like a waste of money to me. I had 3 iPhones and never had a scratch in the glass.
Did not work for me
I bought an invisi shield Saturday and they put it on my phone, I have had problems typing with it. I even tried to recalibrate the typing but it was not even able to type the first letter. Therefore, I took the front shield off and i am able to type with no problem now. Sucks.. maybe they put it on wrong because my wife's phone is working fine with it on. Life time warranty on it so Im going to take it back and have them try it again.

How is the fit on that screen protector? Does it fit exactly all the way around? Is there a space around the edges?
Thanks!
I just got a screen protector put on mine (first time ever having one on) and now it screws up my swyping in... swype... it confuses it... messed with settings and everything.... pain in the...
+1 for Anti-Glare.
I know most people do not like them because they "reduce" the colors or quality of the screen, but I like the fake that it provides a smooth surface and doesn't leave any fingerprints compared to Crystal-Clear screen protectors
I got the Zagg (actually I am on the second one, as the first came off in my pocket and got covered with lint).
I should say that Zagg is great, they sent me a new one with no questions asked and even waived the shipping, since the replacement was requested so quickly after purchase.
In any case, I am now second guessing my decision after viewing a youtube video on the scratch resistance of the screen.
Just go to youtube and search for "HTC EVO screen test". (sorry, as a new user I am unable to post the link).
Here's the link. Pretty impressive.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeoAl-94bks
I've used all kinds of screen protectors for all my devices until the ZuneHD, which is supposed to have Corning Gorilla Glass, supposedly super scratch resistant. Long story short, i pulled it out of my pocket where it was by itself and it had a nice fat scratch on the surface. Brought it back to Best Buy, got another one, and swearing to never trust any claims to scratch resistance.
Using a clairvue clear on my Evo 4g, and clairvue antiglare on a tp2, and a martin fields on a tp1, all 3 are well protected and i've never been happier.
Had my dvp for a couple of days now and still undecided if to keep it or go back to my iPhone.
Apart from a few 'set up ' issues that have been down to user error...not the phones fault...i am finding it quite good.
One thing however that really annoys me is the screen and how it gets finger prints and smudges so much. I had a choice of all the windows phones as I bought the handset SIM free. I went for the dvp because of its outstanding build quality and amoled screen.
Anyway I can sort this out, screen protector or is there allready one on there that I need to remove. The screen just seems really greasy

The smudges and FP's are a pain only on bright sunlight. If you keep the brightness to medium, it should work fine.
The back and sides of the phone seem fine, its almost like there is a cheap film over the top or something

Maybe it has just got greasy at some point and normall rubbing with a cloth won't get it off ...maybe its some type of deterget to wipe it clean.....i remember that when I first got it the screen allmoat felt 'abrasive' and now it just seems really smooth

get a microfiber cleaning cloth. that has cleaned my screen to the point that it's actually hard to swipe your finger around (no oil on the screen to facilitate in its slickness.) but you'll have to clean it again every week or so. your skin has grease and it comes off on everything you touch. there is no way around that. the only other option is to find a matte finish screen protector. that would get rid of the problem, but might effect how crisp the screen looks.
my own screen problem, i may need to start a new thread!!
Well i have had my dell venue pro for almost the month and all i going well except that the screen has turned a greeny/red tint. Im sure all of you know that the screen is made of LEDs, red, green, and blue. i believe that the blue one has disappeared, my guess is that there is loose cable connection, although i havent dropped my phone before. i have added a couple of picture of the screen, it is a lot worse in reality.
any help would be much appreciated
I have been on the internet for hours to gain info on how to fix it, dell nor the retailer i got it from have replied to my emails.

Indeed. I do the same - cleans perfectly
Wonder if the problem is the sunshine. DVP screen is not very easy to read outdoors in bright sunlight and the smudges are more visible. Screen brightness seems less than some other phones. When it's cloudy or indoors, I often don't notice the smudges.

Sounds like you might need to use your warranty and get Dell to send you a replacement handset.
how does the mytouch screen do against scratches and the like? How long have you been going bare?
The screen feels so nice without one, I just don't want to start getting scratches on it, so looking for some opinions
Maybe this belongs in the accessories section. Mods, sorry if it does, please move it if you feel it is necessary.

mine is naked since i got it in November... not even a small scratch
I've never had a screen protector on mine. Got it in March. The silver plastic that runs around the phone has some nicks in it, but the screen is in perfect shape.
Okay I'm going to go naked and see what happens. My hd2
got a couple very very small scratches after many users said they never had one. I dunno maybe I'm rougher with my phone than I thought

no screen protector since day 1 (bought sometime in Feb/Mar) and still on perfect condition. It has gorilla glass: http://www.corninggorillaglass.com/products-with-gorilla/htc
so IMHO I don't think you need to worry. I've learned this with my hero. stupid me putting a screen protector not knowing the glass itself has better scratch resistance than the screen protector I bought.
a little off topic, I'm looking for the perfect case though. as stelth300 stated, the chrome part (and probably the metal back) does seem to need a good case.
I got mine the day it came out, whenever that was, and never used a case or screen cover. I have a few small scratches on the middle of the screen, but you can only see them when the screen is off. Also the coating on my battery door is starting to peel away in some spots. And the metal ring around the camera lens fell off.
I dragged a key on it to test it. It wouldnt scratch. Gorilla glass!
As you'll see here, the MT4G has Gorilla Glass, so it is exceptionally tough. I've seen people drag keys across it and there isn't a scratch after.

I feel the same about my old G1. The screen doesn't feel near as tough as my MT4G's. Maybe there are different versions of Gorilla Glass, and the newer phones have a tougher model.
use gorilla glass, once you have it you wont regret it and its worth it
I use a screen protector due to dust and not scratches, I also have a case that seals the edges from dust. That is my real concern.

Mine is about 3 months old and not on scratch yet...pretty amazing, even dropped it one flat on the screen on the floor and NOTHING. This is a tough phone.
I used a cheap screen protector that came with my trident aegis case, it was a joke and i don't care what anyone says no matter how good you are @ putting them stupid theings on there will always be some air bubbles trapped underneath which is my biggest gripe and why i rock mine butt nekkid plz lol

This is true, I have never been able to get it perfectly, and I can't smooth out all the bubbles either. It's annoying to look at sometimes but there's not much i can do about it. Sometimes I don't use a case so I have my phone with other things in my pockets.
run mine naked, ended up with a minor scratch most likely from something in my pocket. I have to really look for it when the screen is off, don't even notice when screen is on. Had mine since release.
My wife on the other hand... I think it was the first 2 weeks before she managed to put a scratch in the screen. I think she dropped it in the car onto a upward pointing nail file.
Had mine since about a month before it was officially announced to be released.
Never used a screen protector.
I dont have a case and also have dropped the phone NUMEROUS times, on the concrete, face down (in fact, more times than I can remember- and probably an ongoing couple of times a week, at normal ))
I have a very minimal amount of "scratches" on the screen; however there is a very small sort of dent on the the edge from the impact of one of the falls.

Hi everyone,
So the question is pretty clear I think, I want to know if the Nexus comes with its own screen protector from LG/Google?
Thanks!
Sort of. It has one front and back. It looks like it's not intended to be kept on there, because there is a tiny tab to remove it, but mine seems perfect so I still have it on after several weeks!
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Yes and they are perfectly cut but the front one has volume and power button symbols on it though but work very well still got my back one on.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Yes, the Nexus 4 comes with front and back ones. They are pretty high quality too-nothing like those 5-for-a-dollar ones you get on eBay or the one that comes on Samsung devices. Like somebody else said, there are pictures on the front of the power and two volume buttons. They aren't that annoying though. I took off the factory screen protector and put on my Skinomi a few weeks ago because I got it for that reason lol. I still have the back protector on.

Thanks everyone,
does the device arrive with the protectors on it or are they separate?
Why am I asking? Assuming they come on the device, I don't want to think that I haven't received the protectors.
Typically those are the shipping protectors, they should be on the device. They really aren't met to be left on but to protect the glass in the box during shipping from scuffs and dirt.

Yes and no.
You are for the most part right, but since they have cut outs for camera and proximity/light sensor, it's pretty clear they expected people to leave them on.
I received my Nexus 4 in the mail yesterday and have left the screen protector on it's actually better than most screen protectors that are pre-installed on devices. I also think the volume and power indicators are actually quite useful. I'm still getting used to the location of the power button (coming from an HTC Sensation where it was on top). Like someone mentioned the indicators aren't too distracting either.

No it does not. It comes with a film that is static applied as part of the manufacturing process but they are not meant to be used as screen protectors.
they're screen protectors in a sense that its to protect it while it ships to you, but not meant for long term use. it doesn't have a good glide for your finger.
the front screen is rather tough. I've had mine naked for 2 months and not a single scratch. you may want to leave the back one on until you find a more permanent solution if you really want a screen protector.
Did anyone here ever use the Wrapsol screen protector? I want to buy it (and the back protector of course) but I heard it has the orange peel effect - can anyone confirm/disprove this claim?

I had one but the amount of bubbles drove me crazy.
It can be a pain but you should be able to get a screen protector on with no bubbles. Since screen protectors are not unique to the N7, a Google search on installing screen protectors without bubbles will turn up a zillion threads on the topic.
These are the ones I like http://www.spigen.com/tablets/google-nexus-7-remium-lcd-protection-film-steinheil-series.html
I like the Ultra Crystal
But I stopped using screen protectors since I found I don't need them to stay scratch free.

I always keep my N7 in my case and I put it in my pocket for *two* seconds, and my pocket is a smooth soft hight sweater pocket. I pull it out, bam-- giant scratch.
Now I think everyone should have screen protectors. I wish I did. I was going to sell this thing and get the new version in July but it looks like I'm stuck with a scratched and soon to be dated device now
Not true... Ur pocket did the scratch...
Com on, something did it....

Does anyone have any suggestions other than "put a screen protector on it" because I can't see how that would hide this scratch.
This incident was an unfortunate fluke although isn't there something I can do?

There's scratch removers that you can get. You wipe it on and wipe it off and the scratch should be gone, or at least less visible.

Nope, not of any specific brand, just that it could be a solution. Wouldn't hurt to look into it though
Be aware of scretch removers... they can easily remove glass coating because they are abrasive and make things worse...
You can see a scratch because a scratch has sharp edges. A screen protector puts the scratch under a smooth surface.
Polishing (on finishes in general) does the same thing by smoothing the edges, minimizing how noticeable the scratch is.
There is zero downside to a screen protector other than needing to install it.
I'm in agreement with others, don't polish. Too much chance of trading one visual flaw for another.
