Hi everyone,
So the question is pretty clear I think, I want to know if the Nexus comes with its own screen protector from LG/Google?
Thanks!
Sort of. It has one front and back. It looks like it's not intended to be kept on there, because there is a tiny tab to remove it, but mine seems perfect so I still have it on after several weeks!

Yes and they are perfectly cut but the front one has volume and power button symbols on it though but work very well still got my back one on.

Yes, the Nexus 4 comes with front and back ones. They are pretty high quality too-nothing like those 5-for-a-dollar ones you get on eBay or the one that comes on Samsung devices. Like somebody else said, there are pictures on the front of the power and two volume buttons. They aren't that annoying though. I took off the factory screen protector and put on my Skinomi a few weeks ago because I got it for that reason lol. I still have the back protector on.

Thanks everyone,
does the device arrive with the protectors on it or are they separate?
Why am I asking? Assuming they come on the device, I don't want to think that I haven't received the protectors.
Typically those are the shipping protectors, they should be on the device. They really aren't met to be left on but to protect the glass in the box during shipping from scuffs and dirt.

Yes and no.
You are for the most part right, but since they have cut outs for camera and proximity/light sensor, it's pretty clear they expected people to leave them on.
I received my Nexus 4 in the mail yesterday and have left the screen protector on it's actually better than most screen protectors that are pre-installed on devices. I also think the volume and power indicators are actually quite useful. I'm still getting used to the location of the power button (coming from an HTC Sensation where it was on top). Like someone mentioned the indicators aren't too distracting either.

No it does not. It comes with a film that is static applied as part of the manufacturing process but they are not meant to be used as screen protectors.
they're screen protectors in a sense that its to protect it while it ships to you, but not meant for long term use. it doesn't have a good glide for your finger.
the front screen is rather tough. I've had mine naked for 2 months and not a single scratch. you may want to leave the back one on until you find a more permanent solution if you really want a screen protector.
Did anyone here ever use the Wrapsol screen protector? I want to buy it (and the back protector of course) but I heard it has the orange peel effect - can anyone confirm/disprove this claim?

Yes it will be enough as long as you don't throw it at a wall or drop it(although I still recommend the gel case or hard case in addition to screen protector) and I haven't noticed any hindering of elegance and I am using the Zagg screen protector. It may take a week but it will mold right in and you'll hardly notice it is there.

It was really a relief. Anyway am from India and will have to look for local equivalents but hearing that it would not impair the experience was a deal-saver Thanks really.
I use the phone without a screen protector for about 3 months now. I don't have a single scratch on it. I always take good care of it and never put it in a pocket with anything else (except maybe a handkerchief).

Same with me; no screen protector and I've had mine for about 4 months without any problems whatsoever. I don't even take any special precautions except to make sure there isn't any sand or anything on the screen before I wipe it.

I didn't have it more than two days before the protector was put on it. This is, of course, only because I get a discount on accessories occasionally at the store I usually go to. So 25% off sounded pretty good without having to buy two accessories for the usual deal.

Well I currently have SGP dual front and back but this thing is a finger print magnet. I saw a ghost armor booth in the mall and I'm wondering if anyone uses it? How's clarity and smoothness? Orange peel? Does it pick up a lot of fingerprints? I don't want to pay a lot and then not like it!

I use it and have on my last 6+ devices. I swear by it. Its ghost armor or nothing for me. I don't like how plastic everything else feels. Very clear and durable.

So no orange peel? Also is it rubbery feeling like other wet applies? Edge to edge as well right? What case you using with it? Want to make sure it works with OEM bumper and it doesn't peel

I use it exactly because there is a ghost armor stand at the mall.
No orange peel. I haven't used other wet applies, but I don't think it feels rubbery. It is not edge to edge, the curved edges are left uncovered and even the back piece is a little small. I have the official bumper with it and the ghost armor works perfectly, the bumper actually does not even touch the front and back pieces. I have the full covering around the edges as well, which obviously does get covered.
Hope that helps.

I just got a full body Ghost Armor for my N4 and I was surprised by 2 things:
1) It isn't edge to edge which I found odd because it was a wet apply.
2) Normally, I would not even look at a screen protector if it wasn't edge to edge but oddly, this protector isn't even noticeable that it isn't edge to edge. The way the N4's screen curves on its sides is so pronounced that you won't be able to see the edges of the screen protector. I've seen some other non-edge to edge protectors (SGP for example) and it looks terrible with such a "small" protector but this one seems to be oddly fine. I can't explain why this one looks fine (it's not as if they use some kind of special material or something), but I have no problems with it at all and as a bonus, it won't lift up because of any cases. Best of both worlds I'd say and I'm pretty satisfied.
I also got them to throw on a matte back protector which I think will go well with the official bumper if that ever comes back into stock. I was going to get a clear back as well but they ran out and offered me a matte back which I took. Think it was a good decision as the back will feel more solid with it than a smudgy and fingerprinty clear back.
They also put on some side protectors for the sides of the phone which I don't really like. Most likely going to rip them off, but might keep them as I will be using a case anyways and would make no difference.
Pretty satisfied overall. A little pricey at $35 for a full body kit + installation but I have always hated applying screen protectors by myself. Throw in the lifetime warranty and it's fair value I'd say.
Thanks for the replies. One last question. Does the clear one repel fingerprints well? If not how would you compare the matte one to the clear one as far as clarity is concerned?

I used to only use ghost armor but tried Bestskinsever and now ghost armor looks like crap to me. The orange peel effect is horrible on ghost armor and on BSE it almost non existent. Just my opinion

The clear one repels fingerprints about as well as the screen alone, maybe a little better, which basically means it doesn't.

You can order it and install it yourself and save 5$ from the installation fee. It is really easy to install yourself, although it takes a little while to cure, being a wet-apply screen protector. Personally I also don't really trust the stand at the mall near where I live, as I let the guy there do it once, and he did it quite poorly (left dust and many bubbles underneath, and actually didn't line up the cutouts right). I ended up redoing it myself ( I feel like reiterating that it is the easiest screen protector installation I have ever done). However, this is just my experience with the people at my mall, YMMV.

I've generally had good experience with the stand at my mall, specifically with one guy who even when hungover (he told me) still did a great job. I've certainly had better treatment with Apple devices though, they go through so many iPhones/iPods each day that they can do it in there sleep and I find they have more difficulty with less popular, or, in this case, new devices like the Nexus 4.
With the Nexus 4 I'm a little dissatisfied with some of the application. The sides in particular, but for some reason the guy had trouble with the backing as well and there is a few air bubbles that have been bugging me. I've been considering redoing it myself, but as I've always had them do it I don't have the materials.
Do you know what I could use to reapply it at home?

I found that many of the tiny speck-like air bubbles actually dissappear by themselves after a few days, the larger ones you can sort of "push out" with your finger.
If you choose to install it yourself, they give you all the supplies you need, including a new screen protector, covered under the warranty. However, the mall stand I go to asks that you bring in your old screen protector if you peeled it off, so hang on to it.

I've never been given all the supplies before, as they do the install there and then I'm on my way. I've gone back and got them to reapply a few times previously with a few other devices, but I felt like I might just try it myself this time.
I realize most of the bubbles disappear, but it's already been over a week and there are a number of them left including one large one that I knew from the beginning would never go away on its own.

THIS^. I literally just applied my bestskinsever, and i love it. great fit. I am not using a case at the moment tho, waiting for it in the mail currently
I tried many different screen protectors but I don't like any of the ones I've tired mainly because my finger just skids along the screen rather than gliding, it ruins the whole touch experience. I've seen these matte like anti glare screen protectors for the iphone and really liked them, they were really smooth. Is there any screen protectors like this for the Nexus 4? I've seen some links but no reviews for any of them. If you're using one that you really like, please leave a link. Thanks.
I'm just using a generic matte one from eBay. Just had to make sure it had sensor cut outs. My friends one wasnt cut so he cut it himself.
These are the ones i'm using now.

The ones I got from ebay (seller dzystro or something like that) are of decent quality, and cutouts are okay but are 1-2mm short in the height. so the topmost part of my screen isnt covered, like right above the sensors

Only issue that I kinda don't like is that it kinda ruins the screen quality. Whites look terrible. Dark colors seem the same..

You mean "a good protector will last way longer...". There are plenty of crappy expensive ones!
Right now Im running a bumper (well, the girlfriend, who is a phonebreaker, is running it because she is waiting for her substantial case to arrive) but I was wondering if there were other options.
Most times Im running naked and only using the bumper in situations when I thought there was real risk. The main reason is because i love the cascading touch screen, it feels much better working on the phone without my thumb crashing into the lip of a bezel or case when swiping/typing.
So my question is, has anyeone seen a case that clips onto the phone holding only onto the top/bottom (and corners) but maybe only going up half or less of the sides, as to not interfere with the drop off effect of the screen?
I think if I had something like that I would be more willing to run the case more often. I know it couldn't be a bumper, it would need a back to support the sides and I am prepared to live with not seeing the blingy back.
I've been looking for this too! Haven't found a case like that yet...

I asked exactly this same question, and the answer is that no one has made such a case yet. However, I did buy the rearth ringke slim case, which grips the sides, but very shallow, and it is pretty good. You don't bump the sides until you are about three fourths of the way down the bevel.
