I don't know anything about developing but it doesn't seem like it would be THAT hard to port it. The Nexus 5X has the same CPU and GPU just with 2GB of ram. The only big difference is the camera.

I actually dont want a dual core cause I fear the battery life....lol but if i was gonna upgrade my evo...I dont think this is the way Id go....although like some one mentioned the sammy's usually get great life.
with that being said...this device doesnt have a flash or notification light. The flash I use as a flash light and the notification light i would miss

Battery life? The GPU and CPU will be 10x as efficient as the evo right now and rumored the phone comes with a 1730-1750 mah battery. HTC modified the evos kernel when the battery problem was awful and the devs here at xda took it even a step farther. The dual core will render graphics and multi tasking like a breeze without straining the phone. The rumored benchmarks are double the evo stock! I have mine being pushed at full speed and still get a day worth of battery out of it. The evo3d is a no brainier compared to the nexus s which is a year old and does not have an SD card.

What ROMs do you guys want? I ported MIUI to epic and am working on other stuff there. I can probably port MIUI ICS when we get CM9. What do you guys want though? HTC's Tablet Sense?
EDIT: I have the WiFi version btw, so if anyone wants carrier specific versions of ROMs, tell me what to change or just take my WiFi Roms and add support for your carrier.
No idea, i would love a source built ICS ROM but I hear CM9 is on the horizon and to my knowledge no Tegra 2 device has a GPU accelerated ICS ROM????
Just had to bump the thread and throw some words in..

I can't quite build from source yet. Don't have the skills or the computer requirements (if my pc tried to build ics, it'd probably take days, weeks, months, or even years). I have a netbook and ics takes several hours to build with 16gb of ram so I can't imagine it with only 1 gb.

Don't really know that much about different roms, I've only used CM7 and some smaller ROMs really .
Never used MIUI, but I heard it's nice, so that would be an option.
But personally, I believe people would really appreciate if you have the knowledge/skill to help on CM9 for our tab somehow ^^
And of course, thanks for your work!

Sorry but I don't have the skill or knowledge for cm9, but we're in good hands: pershoot and cyanogen (you know, the guy who started cyanogenmod and the namesake of it). We'll have good builds soon, but apparently theres a non technical issue for all tegra 2 devices.
I can do miui once we get a good cm9 build and I will, but I need for other tablets to be supported because otherwise the resolution will be qhd at best. Either that or I need to find a way to make things support our resolution.

Wait, you meant an actual Sense ROM? Oh there's most likely no way in hell you'll pull that off, that's like 95% impossible. If you actually manage to pull it off though, I'll be amazed. No HTC device has the Galaxy Tab resolution, chip set, GPU, CPU, so some hard care porting is needed. Still, I'll be super impressed if you could get a Sense ROM booting, even if almost nothing worked.

The MIUI port will be a little a way. I am going to wait until another tablet/device with the same resolution as us gets it so that we don't have a crappy resolution and also so that I don't have to manually make files higher res.
I would suggest task rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340064 its very good and has themes that look very nice

port from what?
If you can take another ROM honestly, I'd like a CM7 ROM. There is nothing about Honeycomb that I think is significantly better than Gingerbread especially with the CM7 features.
Or does it have to be another Tablet ROM like something from the Motorola Xoom or Acer Iconia?
I don't know if this is even possible but I love the UI on gridOS
Its android based but I do no of that's enough
If you don't know what it is look it up on YouTube or something
It looks amazing

Explain to me why the T30 or the T33 is crappy.
Thanks for the hasty reply.
Curious as to how Tegra 3s are bad. Must be that "its not the latest and greatest so its crap bro" mentality that has plagued the gadget world as of late....
I think people don't like it because it's proprietary and not open..?
the T30 version will be fine. same one used in the prime I believe. the one in the 300 is the T30L. this nexus 7 will be able to be easily overclocked also once rooted. thats if it has higher clock speeds in stock kernel but disabled. like in prime when it got ICS. might even be able to use the same EzOverclock apk install like on Prime.
is this using ddr2 or ddr3 ram? infinity pad uses new ddr3 ram with larger bandwidth frequency. over a ghz. I believe. compared to prime ddr2 which was around 540MHz. 300 has ddr3 but only slightly faster than prime memory. its still around 560 MHz also. I guess this lil 7in. would be fine with ddr2.

if so, that's the same one that's in the transformer 300 model. although not as powerful/high clocked as one in prime, it will be fine. its still a very powerful chip no matter which version it is. plus tegra3 has the best multimedia capabilities.

Did you break the recent apps button on your Nexus?
Pretty sure based on the number of views and responses that most Nexus owners are pleased with how Android jellybean handles multitasking. I've seen iOS multitasking and it's kinda like looking through a window to the past.
Good luck on your search:good:

Aside from switching to an iPhone I'm not sure how this could be accomplished.
Multitasking is something built into the system UI and in Android 4.0+ it's handled by the recent apps button. In all honesty after having my Nexus 4 since launch I'm still learning to use "recent apps" more and more. I personally like how Android does it. I think it looks just as beautiful and is just as intuitive as the rest of Jellybean is. You get a miniature view of all open apps with a preview to it's content just by hitting recent apps.

On Android's official webpage is information that new Android can run well on devices with 512megs of RAM.

This is almost certainly true, but the whole point is to just get it booting, right? Like when they got JB running on the G1 :silly: a.s.j forgot to tell you, you should check out the #andromadus IRC to see if any of the devs still chat on there and also I've found members of the Slim ROMs team INCREDIBLY helpful in the past, I think they have an IRC channel too if you're new to the IRC stuff just say
