Vodafone - 4G Compatibility and LTE Indicator - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Hopefully just a quick Q&A... I have just bought a Vodafone 4G PAYG SIM, popped the card into my OnePlus 2 and have got the internet up and running. My status bar indicator shows the H for HSDPA (versus when I had an EE 4G sim which showed LTE) and my speedtest.net app shows a reasonably average speed of around 15-20mbps.
Can anyone else who has a Vodafone 4G UK SIM in a OnePlus 2 let me know if things should be any different?
Thanks,

I use Vodafone in the UK and it's exactly the same.

Vodafone UK pay monthly here. Currently on Seraph08's CM13, which displays LTE. Been a while since I switched from OOS, but I'm pretty sure it displayed 4G. It certainly wasn't H. Hope that helps!

[Q] Sim card with Data in India

I'm traveling to India (specifically Delhi, Udaipur, Jaipur and Agra). I'm planning on getting a local sim to put into my unlocked TMobile G2. My primary usage is going to be data. Does anyone know which mobile operator offers the best data speeds with the G2 in India?
Not that it should matter, I'm running CM6.1.1

CM6!!!! what. Get on that CM7 bro
Sorry don't know much about India's mobile operators.
Okay, okay you convinced me. I upgraded to cm7. I had been having problems with it hanging at the cyanogen screen on bootup but I actually spent the 15 minutes figuring out how to fix the problem and now I've upgraded.
Anybody got a clue on my original question about data carriers in India? Does anyone in india use a Desire Z or G2?
If it is town area or highways, better go with AirTel, They have the good coverage.
If remote, you can try vodafone, or BSNLor MTNL (the have most coverage).
I dunno about other operators coverage, like TATA Docomo or Reliance.
2G data is cheap in India, for airtel ucan get 2GB at Rs.98 (~2$) and 4GB for the same in TATA Docomo.
3G is just introduced in last december, so few data plans an coverage also.
Not all operaors have 3G coverage in all areas,,only BSNL has dat in all circles.
You can check bsnl.co.in for 3G tariffs.
Cool. Thanks for the information!

[Q] 4G vs hsdpa in status bar

I have just tried a 4g Sim in my note 3 the status bar shows an h which is what it has always showed. It never showed 3g just h.
If I am connected to 4g what should that bar show an l for late or 4g?
I am in the UK and currently with three but testing ee's 4g service.
Thanks

You get a HSDPA+ signal if you're not in a 4G area, I am in the same boat, I am also with Three (waiting for their 4G service to come out before deciding weather to switch).

Cool but on 4G what should the status bar say?
On 3G it shows H rather than 3G so I don't know what it will show when correctly connected to 4G.
Thanks
It will show 4g.. see attached..

Three are piggybacking on EE's network for LTE, I am with them also, and EE have the fastest bands currently. So I expect the LTE to be spot on. Currently their signal strength has gotten really poor, I am hoping it's because they are swapping the bands to jump on EE.

Where did you hear that? As far as I'm aware, Three are building their own LTE network, though some of it will be spectrum acquired from EE.
Three did share it's 3g network with TMo/EE, but I've not heard that this is the case for 4g.

I first read it on a Three web forum, I was quizzing them about how the signal strength had suddenly gotten super poor. Can't remember which site it was I scoured so many as it was and still is annoying that signal barely goes over 2 bars even in a big city (Leeds)
As for the spectrum, they purchased some from EE but are running on their network bands (only intial start up maybe?) - EE 4G goes live here (York) this month and Three goes live January. So close together would assume that the starting of it would be on EE's spectrums until further?

The spectrum they bought from EE was in the 1800MHz band - the very same band than EE's LTE sits in.
So no. I don't think they will be using EE's network at all.

Three are not piggybacking on EE's network, they merely acquired some of the 1800Mhz spectrum from EE (That EE was forced to sell by OFCOM to get the go-ahead for their early 4G Rollout), supposedly Three got it for free as well. Three also acquired some 800Mhz spectrum during the auction, so they have both.
As far as I understand, Three aren't allowed to use all of the 1800Mhz spectrum they acquired until September 2015, but they can use 2x10Mhz of it now. I don't know which of the two blocks they're using for their current rollout, or if they're using both.
Never mind all of that, you should see 4G in the status bar if you're on 4G. Make sure you go into the settings and set the Note to connect to LTE/WCDMA/GSM services - my Three Note 3 didn't originally have that option and when it recently appeared, it was still on WCDMA/GSM.

4G/LTE

Just got my phone in US....Was able to get Saturday Delivery. Anyways, the phone is awesome! My phone shows a 4G icon is that the same as LTE? I know in the Xperia ZL there was an LTE icon. Thanks.

Do a speed test, someone on Android Central forums shows 4G on At&t and is getting 23+ down so it's LTE

4G is the same as LTE. It's just how this phone decides to display it

I live in Europe, phone shows LTE when I'm using it. It's also my first LTE phone so I'm blown away atm...
4G is LTE..

Ive had mine on t-mobile doing speed test and I'm getting 30+ down while getting average 11 mb/s up. The phone shows 4g but that is lte speeds.
This thread is pretty funny
Many have already stated the simple fact that by name '4g and LTE' are interchangeable..
They are of the same radio.
When I had my Z2 it was running UK firmware, it displayed 4G icon on my phone on AT&T network. When I flashed the phone with Euro Unbranded firmware , LTE icon got displayed.
It just depends on the firmware customization, so either way you are getting LTE speed but the icon displays different depending on the firmware installed

Will the Xiaomi Note work on AT&T?

Hey guys,
So I'm in the market to possibly replace my Sony Xperia Z3 and I'm intrigued by the sheer awesomeness that is the Note. I'm wondering if I ordered the phone from china, would I be able to use it with an AT&T Sim card and have cellular access? I don't need FULL LTE speeds, though I'd like to have close to that.Sorry for the newb question! I couldn't find an answer to this anywhere.
Cheers,
Bump! Still need this information. Thanks!
You will get EDGE ans GPRS... I'm on Rogers in Canada and I think it will be the same for AT&T....
On the flip side you get great battery life...

I have tested using my AT&T SIM card in the USA. I have the export model which says fdd-lte/tdd-lte/wcdma/gsm on the box label. I get H, or H+ next to Mobile strength to pop up on the top header which I believe is GPRS. It also says AT&T 3G on the top header, so I don't believe you can get LTE in the States. As stated, battery life is excellent. I'm still on V5. Struggling to upgrade to V6. There seem to be many links and different versions of V6 for the 4G. I have tried them all, but I get a big X and a stop message in Chinese, so I'm not sure what any of it means. It just reboots to V5. Will keep exploring.

What type of download speeds are you getting on the Note with AT&T non-LTE?
I am looking at purchasing the Note Pro and trying to get a comparison.
Thanks.

Sorry, just noticed your post. It varies but on my last test I got a Ping of 21 ms, Download of 6Mbps (it seemed to slow down as the test proceeded) and Upload of 6.4 Mbps. Still running on 3G. When I get H+ the download speed seems to go faster, but the upload much slower. Again speeds seem to vary, depending on the signal.
I tried to modify the phone to get AT&T LTE bands, but no go.
I am using Redmi note 4(bought in India). I have H2o sim, which use AT&T network. I am getting LTE here in Texas. and download speed 3.5 MBps and 0.74 Upload. not bad for my usage.

ZUK Z1 4G Capabilities

We all know that the Z1 is 4G capable but does anyone know what UK networks. I want to stay on vodafone but have read in a couple of places that it wont work on Vodafone 4G but should on EE 4G?
Can anyone shed any definitive light on this please?
Willmyphonework.net
You won't get much 4G mate. I have Vodafone sim and O2 sim in my zuk z1. The only time I've connected to 4G was when I was in London. Outside of that I can't remember ever connecting to 4G on either sim on this phone and I live in Greater Manchester and work in central Manchester during day.
hi, I'm on three network and get good 4g reception especially at home (Nottingham), faster than my Virgin wi-fi, much better than on my previous phone (HTC One M7).
I was using this phone on EE - 4G signal at my house, but coverage is a bit patchy in my area. But it definitely works on 4G.
